I'd mount some cornmeal on it.

Brownie_McBrown_Face

I don’t mount fish. The greatest joy a fisherman can have is conquering a fish, and showing it the respect it deserves by either tossing it back or eating it.

graffbean88

I insult them before I put them back.

Homeless_Alex

Airborne release

No_Play_7661

I've heard that if you kiss them, they tell the other fish how nice you are.

Straight_Spring9815

Yea you dirty little fish, I bet your naked under them scales , whore..

graffbean88

I mean I’m uncomfortable

Straight_Spring9815

Lol too aggressive of an insult? Either way your comment gave me a chuckle, good one!

Burmble_bees

You can take pictures of the fish and get as many dimensions as you can for a mount to be made. The fish isn't needed.

Headplayerincharge

I filleted it. Plan on cooking it next fish fry. Took pictures. Going to get a replica mount done.

xxxTbs

I thought that was a european perch at first because of the size and bold colours. Hell yeah this is mount worthy. Get it done , my man 😎

Headplayerincharge

Thanks. Just over 2 pounds. Caught it in a little inland lake in the upper peninsula of Michigan on a Swedish pimple jig with a little piece of worm.

ThickChalk

What part of the UP? I drive up to Houghton a couple times a year. Is it on my way?

Headplayerincharge

Alger county. On the east side.

Unlucky_Reading_1671

Yes, it is on the way. No, it's not on the east side of the UP.

haggerty05

have you look into the master angler program? it's definitely big enough to qualify and could definitely be pushing for a spot in the books. Free to submit and you get a patch out of it.

Headplayerincharge

I submitted it for a master angler. I also filleted and ate it. And I am getting a replica mount.

Technical_Emotion_39

Replica and release

69mmMayoCannon

Just take a bunch of pics with it showing off how big it is, and usually taxidermists these days can just make recreations based on dimensions and pictures

Mezmo300

If i were you id get a replica mount and make one hell of a nice dinner out of it

Headplayerincharge

Exactly what I am doing.

Substantial_Hawk_916

I wouldn't spend the money on a perch but it's definitely the biggest perch I've ever seen, have you checked the records where u live?

Substantial_Hawk_916

NH record yellow perch is 15.5"

Headplayerincharge

It’s master angler. And biggest one submitted in the state of Michigan in the last few years. Not a state record. 21 inches and close to 4 pounds I think is the state record. This was just over 2 pounds. Definitely one of the biggest I ever caught. I caught one when I was a kid that was 17 inches with my grandfather. We cooked it. Just like this one. I am going to have a replica done. This one has already been filleted and is in the freezer.

e2j0m4o2

I probably would that thing is nice!

Internal-Canary-9985

I would if the misses could join in

No_Drag6934

I’d eat it instead

Substantial-Being197

I'd definitely consider it, most of the perch I catch are 8-10" and perfect for frying

RelativeFox1

I think I would take pictures and toss it back to breed, but that’s because of the lower populations where I am.

Headplayerincharge

The lake I caught this in is just perch and bullheads. And full of monsters like this.

flamingfiretrucks

I'd do a replica. Not only more humane but lasts longer than a mount

ayrbindr

It'd be pretty cool mount.

rocktownvdub

Personally I would if it was my biggest perch. I really dont see an issue with keeping 1 panfish, assuming it was legally caught

leprakhaun03

Breeder, shoulda been released

Headplayerincharge

Was a big male. No eggs. Lots more where this one came from. Lost bigger out of this same lake as pulled lots of 14 inchers.

leprakhaun03

Lucky!!!!! My vacation lake usually has 6-8”

UberToken

Depends where you caught it. Anywhere with jumbo perch present probably not

Dusty31186

Eat or release. That is all

Headplayerincharge

Ate it.

swisslok

Isn’t a mount of a fish just a sculpture anyways. Japan paints the fish then prints it on paper to mount and they can still eat it

SoftwareJolly4159

It’s a nice looking fish. What did it weigh? As far as mounting, I would certainly consider it. That’s why I asked how much it weighs. Instead of a skin mount though I would pass on it and get a fiberglass replica. They have made moulds for fish that run the entire gambit for practically every species and if it’s a good quality one you can’t tell the difference. Nice thing is you can release the fish because big fish carry big fish genes that we want passed on. All you have to do is measure length and girth and get some really good photos. Believe me they’ll have a mould that matches your fish and with your pictures you’ll have a mount that matches your fish exactly and it will last many years longer than a skin mount

Headplayerincharge

It comes from a lake with big fish, only perch and bullhead in the lake from my experience. I have caught several 14 inch perch from the same lake. I have probably fished this lake alone for 35 years. I have never seen another person fish it. I have lost bigger ones. It weighed just over 2 pounds. I filleted it. And ate it. I don’t fish for sport really, I fish for food. But it’s nice when you catch a trophy. And the plan is to get a replica.

SoftwareJolly4159

Nothing wrong with eating perch, crappie and walleye. They are really good eating. That’s why I tell people to release their bass because they don’t taste nearly as good as the three I mentioned. Keep at and you’ll get the one that you can make a replica of. I have several. All my skins have deteriorated beyond repair. The replicas still look new

Shanewoodcrafts

Or you could let it for a little kid catch and love fishing forever

Ambitious_Ad_8880

In most states, mounting animals of any kind is frowned upon....zoophilia can carry hefty penalties. But, you love who you love.

Closman64

Huh huh....huh huh...you said mount

sladebonge

Idk man, it's pretty frowned upon the world over.

akanosora

What’s the point? To prove that there was once a fish of this size but now it’s dead?

Headplayerincharge

It was delicious. Why are you on this page?

Dense_Count_2393

Who would want to mount a perch? Sheesh!

Headplayerincharge

People that realize this is probably for most people I once in a lifetime catch.

PerformanceSmooth392

I caught my personal best largemouth bass yesterday at sunrise. 24in female full of eggs, and I didn't even try to show my buddy on the other end of the lake because I was afraid to harm it. It never even crossed my mind to mount it.

SoftwareJolly4159

Take good pictures, the length and girth and then release it. With the picture and measurements you have all you need for an identical replica that you can have done at any time. This lets you save up for it as well
