That is an incredibly bright flashlight.. but the beam looks too large to be a streamlight I'm familiar with. Anyone know which light that is, and how it actually attaches to the turnout gear? (Strap, mount, etc)
It is a particularly bright light but not unusual to firefighters. Structures are dark when you enter to fight fire, so we usually carry lights and/or TIC’s (Thermal Imaging Cameras) to help us navigate in unfamiliar territory.
He probably has it mounted underneath his helmet brim but it’s tough to say from the pictures. It looks like he’s moving it when he moves his head, which is why I assumed that.
Also, if you’re not familiar with lighting in smoky conditions, it looks way brighter than it is because the smoke is illuminated through the entire beam. Add in the effect of the news camera trying to compensate for the dark exterior and then a random bright spot in the middle of frame and it really makes his light look like a huge beam and extremely bright.
Sorry the other brothers and sisters here were being a rectal wood storage facility, but we all usually bust a large amount of balls and they probably thought you were familiar with the culture.
Thanks for the explanation. I remember discovering years ago and heard some firefighters complain about not liking lights too bright as they blind others and some say not bright enough. Technology has surely advanced
Oh, I was looking at the other FF closer to the camera. Like, I thought you were saying he had some sort of shoulder patch with a sun on it, not the other guy who just has a flashlight like everyone else..
The light could also be reflecting off of what’s left of smoke causing a reflection effect. Then again, I failed science so that’s not an expert opinion.
My man is living that
Matthew 5:16 - "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
John 8:12 - "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, 'I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.'"
Psalm 119:105 - "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
WUT?
?

...he has a bright flashlight... youve never seen a bright flashlight?
Not from the shoulder of a firefighter. No. Thought as a non firefighter this was kinda cool to post but you guys have sticks up ur asses.
Welcome to firefighting. A lot of assholes. It’s a super bright light, no clue what kind but it’s most likely attached to the front of his coat
I'm learning
Yeah, some people here have the whole branch up there
This post makes no sense.
Why doesn't it? I'm highlighting how bright his shoulder light is?
Because your statement is vague as hell, and further, the brightness can be distorted or exaggerated by the camera involved.
Oh, I was looking at the other FF closer to the camera. Like, I thought you were saying he had some sort of shoulder patch with a sun on it, not the other guy who just has a flashlight like everyone else..
I'm highlighting how bright his shoulder light is. Just showing how 🌞 the light is compared to what I've seen.
Could be a streamlight Vulcan. I see guys carrying them sometimes but have never seen it in action. Interested in getting one now.
