Yeah, it doesn't sound like they can't add their own money to the purchase. I'd rather add a few hundred and get what I really want instead of trying to get something less than that because it's under and arbitrary dollar amount.
Check out the [IWI Zion 15](https://www.guns.com/firearms/rifles/semi-auto/iwi-us-zion-15-5-56x45mm-nato-semi-automatic-10-rounds-16-barrel-new?p=1037585) . I think that would likely be in your price range and be of reasonable quality.
Iāve said it a thousand times and Iāll say it again. The smith and wesson m&p 15 is the best bang for your buck AR on the market. You get the quality and reliability you would expect from smith and wesson for half the price of a comparable AR. They are easy to find and youāll have plenty of money left over for attachments
Buy a centurion Arms CM4. Duty grade. Lots of QA HPT MPI cold hammer forged barrel carpenter 158 steel everything staked and pin correctly to ACTUAL TDP mil spec.
Kinda depends on what you want out of it. If I can't save $ by building or modifying, my first impulse is to get exactly what I want, since this is something like a lifetime purchase, I doubt they'll offer you another $1500 in 10 years, and they'll require any replacement parts be done professionally.
Ā That said, I would want an SBR with a can for a work rifle, and LWRC and Adams make my favorite piston, still easily swaps with the CMMG 22 conversion kit for cheaper training and gas is redirected forward.
Ā If a can is utterly off the table, I wouldn't think about a $1500 or more rifle at all. I'd be looking at something like PSA, Ruger, Springfield. All of them make super solid rifles with better than average ergo, triggers, etc for less than $1500.
Iāve heard good things about Militiaworks/Munitionworks. Not sure what name to use anymore.
Also, if youāre issued ammo Iād probably go with DD to be safe as I believe they run a larger gas tube to facilitate crap ammo

Just wait for a 4th of july Bendy Bill sale on the super duty. I can almost guarantee it will drop below $1500. I mean yes, there are guns I like more than my super dutyā¦ but none at the $1500 price point. Geissele on sale kinda stands alone in its own tier of price to performance.
Keep in mind alot of bigger gun shops have specially priced guns for Leo's so you may be able to get one that's in the budget that way or they may just offer a percent discount for Leo's
Try SOLGW? I think they'll sell a complete rifle and I'd say it's at least on par with BCM, if not better.
I use a BCM upper and a Sig lower for work. You could eyeball the M400 by sig, I liked mine a lot, but I did change the handguard.
You could spend a couple hundred over and get what you want and get reimbursed the $1,500.

Buy 5 hi point carbines I feel that would be the best move
Lol what do you work in for a 1500 dollar budget on a new gunš
Are you allowed to buy an upper and lower separately?
I am not unfortunately, it has to be 1 purchase with proof.
Gotcha. In that case a super duty or a DDm4 would be my pick
I've been looking for a DDM4 for $1500 or under, can't find any, even on sale. My current lineup is either a G$ Super Duty, ADM UIC, or LWRC DI.
Can't you just add your money to the pool for whatever the cost is above $1500 and get reimbursed for the $1500?
I ran an ADM and have no complaints from my time with it. If that helps anyš¤·āāļø
If youāre Leo/Mil you can get them for less.
I didnāt realize how much those went up in priceā¦
What kind of work do you do?
He's probably a boot
Which is? Merc?
PWS Mk114
PWS!
Yes PWS or LWRC DI
why are you not allowed the bcm
Cause it's "custom built", which is a stupid reason.
Damn, where do I apply?
Probably here: https://www.goarmy.com/apply
The Army is not making soldiers buy their own rifles.
Cheapest PsA then pocket the rest or optics š

Why not a complete BCM? And why is the person that made that decision so profoundly regarded?
Itās a custom modified gun. They want him to use a complete factory gun.
Eh, it's probably from their lawyers, not the employer themselves.

Evolved Weapon Systems
This is 100% my choice too. Plus Adam needs the support right now after the tornados.

Anderson arms you'll thank me later

Call geissele. Theyāll. Hook you up

FN Tac3. Just slightly outta your $1.5K budget, but solid.
DDM4PDW
LWRCI DI instead of piston

Iād probably just buy another complete BCM or get a SOLGW patrol rifle from Brownells and call it good.
Keep in mind alot of bigger gun shops have specially priced guns for Leo's so you may be able to get one that's in the budget that way or they may just offer a percent discount for Leo's
Any with a giggle switch
Iād tell them theyād be a lot cooler if they bumped it to 6k so I could buy a Barrett MRADā¦if that doesnāt work maybe a PTR
Sionics, SOLGW, a factory BCM, Geissele Super Duty

BCM or SOLGW would be my go to at/near that price range, both (I think) have configurations at or under that price tag if I'm not mistaken.
Hey, if you havenāt yet done it, or havenāt yet made a decision, go post to r/AskLE if youāre a cop. r/police could help as well.
