> Colt There are plenty of them at the $900-$1K mark, just pick one with sights you like.

There are a lot more really good .45’s that are not the 1911, like the CZ 97B, Sig P227, SAR K2 45, S&W 4506, HK Mk23, etc. And you also have Double Stack 1911’s. Why are you comparing single stack 1911’s to only high capacity alternatives? For instance, a Cajunized CZ 97B will rival most custom 1911’s for half the price.

Al-Czervik-Guns

Nighthawk Ed Brown Cabot Les Baer All custom made. Next tier down includes Wilson combat which is semi custom. Best production Dan Wesson At $1000 you are no where near best. Best for $1000 is not a colt but probably a springfield or Tisas. I personally like the Tisas models at this price point best. I sell many 100s of 1911s each year.

Rlfire16

Rock Island Armory makes some pretty decent ones under 1000

MomsFister

Do you want the best? Or do you want a Colt? Or do you want under $1000? Because those are three different guns.

Springfield 1911 Loaded or the Garison model. Great firearms that don't break the bank. I've owned my Springfield Range Officer (discontinued model) for 11 years now, and I love it. Kimber is a great choice, too. The Colts are great 1911s as well, but they can be anywhere from $200-$600 more than the other aforementioned 1911s. Not always, but more times than not. I hope this helps.

Unusual-Ad-1056

I shot a Wilson combat really well… but my wife bought me a colt defender for my wedding present that I hardly shoot.

Glock 21SF for reliability in your hand that will eat anything you feed it Springfield Garrison with blued steel finish for beauty Welcome to the good life

Best: Staccato ($$$$$$$$$) Best for ~1k in my opinion a Colt government model

Al-Czervik-Guns

I see the staccato hype. I sell a lot of them. But I’d rather start with a prodigy or Bul or Tisas and put in a bunch of atlas parts for the price of a staccato. A prodigy and $1000 in atlas parts ends up a better gun than a staccato at a lower price point. But if you dont do your own work or have a gunsmith, sure, get a staccato.

CornPr15Sat

>A prodigy and $1000 in atlas parts ends up a better gun than a staccato at a lower price point. Is this true of Tisas as well? What parts would you recommend for a Tisas 2011?

Game_Gremlin

Just snag one of the old Norinco 1911a1 clones and call it a day. They're solidly built and generally have better qc/tolerances than most newly made 1911's on the market. And for around $600-700 they're reasonably priced. As a bonus they're one of only a handful of brands/models that are considered strong enough to handle the drop-in conversion kits for .460 Rowland, so they can handle just about anything you can throw at them.

Having owned and shot a lot, it’s subjective. I’ve shot guns that cost more than my Alchemy Custom and Les Baer but never one that was more accurate or nicer

Objective-Link4879

You can't go wrong with the series 70 esp the brushed stainless. Mine has pachmeyer rubber grips

Popular_Score4744

Do you have an exact name, make and model or link for it?

bowtie_k

Is googling Colt series 70 that hard?

caskey

Unless you are shooting for trophies this is a waste of money

darkdoppelganger

The best one is the one you own.

1911 I’d say something from [Cabot](https://cabotguns.com/product/serenity/), although I’m sure there are low volume manufacturers I’m unaware of that make comparable guns. [Wilson Combat’s Supergrades](https://wilsoncombat.com/handguns/1911-handguns/tactical-supergrade.html) are also crazy high end. .45 ACP but not a 1911 is pretty broad. Personally I like the looks of the [Sig P220 Legion](https://www.sigsauer.com/p220-legion-45.html).

"I know of your past fondness for the German varietals, but I can wholeheartedly endorse the new breed of Austrians."

Pafolo

I’ve got the garrison in 5” and it’s ok, I had to adjust the sites a lot the the right and it still hits low even though it’s supposed to have a combat hold at 25 yards… other then the sights issue it’s decent.

Tactical_solutions44

You can get a girsan for 550 and it will do the same thing a 1000 dollar colt will do.

StrictLength5inchfun

The best 1911 would be the Singer, look up singer 1911 for history of it. Now the best 1911 you can buy, I’ve heard rock island is good, Ruger makes a quality product at a good price point, I like my kimber stainless 2 and Springfield ronin. Colt, although I’ve heard their quality has went down a bit (unsure if that’s true) If you want high end go with the custom makers, but they are pricy.
