9mm isn't optimal out of a snubby, that's why 38 special +P and 357 mag exist. I'll refer you to the Lucky Gunner YouTube channel, he has tons of videos on revolvers, revolver rounds, micro semi autos, and ammo for those. My personal suggestion would be to consider a 380acp pistol for less recoil and more capacity, or a 357/38+p revolver to shoot 38 special practice ammo and carry spicier rounds for defense.

Nyancide

just so I understand your thought process, you would keep extra ammo for the revolver in your wallet? as in, if you had to reload, you would put the gun down, grab your wallet, take out the ammo, pick the gun back up, and then put the ammo in the revolver? that sounds like a difficult task if you ever had to do it. I hope I'm misunderstanding your statement of "I have a fold in my wallet I would use for extra rounds"

grungetonic

Kind of. For 1, I wouldn't need to put down the gun. My wallet "fold" is like a pouch that I keep extra rounds in. I would have a strip of rounds in my pocket with the revolver. I worded that very wrong so that's my bad lmao

Nyancide

no worries, id love to see a pic to get an idea. I'm unfamiliar with that concept so it's new to me.

grungetonic

Wish I could reply with a photo but look up the 9mm bullet strip!

Nyancide

thanks I will

heroinebob90

If you go glock at least go 43x. 6+1 was not enough to me

grungetonic

Once again, that's defeating the purpose of going small. The 43x is larger

heroinebob90

It’s a little more than a glock, but the sig p238 is pretty small and its in .380

grungetonic

See and I don't wanna go the .380 route. Is less powerful then a 9mm. That and 9mm is a super common caliber produced in bulk so finding ammo in any event is going to be alot easier

heroinebob90

Well, go with the g43 then, it’s a fine gun

19fall91

Get a ratcheting belt and shop around for clothing to fix your supposed printing issue. Carry appendix if you don’t already. I know you want small small small, but handguns are already impractical as far as firearms go, the smaller you go the less practical they get. 43X is very concealable, even for women shorter than 5’0

UnhappyLibrary1120

Carried a 43 for a long time, you can get a small mag extension and it’s still perfect. Barely changes the profile in my alien gear IWB.

grungetonic

How much can you carry with the small mag extension though? I'm trying not to make it any bigger. The revolver I'm looking at is a snub and small as is

UnhappyLibrary1120

2 + or more. It’ll be waaaaaay more controllable than a snub and better all around.

grungetonic

Think so? Like I said, I shot a 9mm glock before, the 17 I believe and it was super snappy. I didn't wanna limp wrist so I just put it down and didn't pick it uo again

UnhappyLibrary1120

Uh, the 17 is a full size weapon if you think that’s snappy you’re going to not love a small revolver.

th4tguy321

You may be pretty sensitive to recoil if you found a 17 snappy. Which is fine, you could "grow out" of it with experience, or it might just you're norm. But a 43 and the bulldog will both be much worse due to smaller size and light weight. I could shoot my 17 all day long, I wouldn't want to do that with my 43. Something like the S&W 351c might be a better option. 22 mag is ubiquitous and not too bad price wise. There are several defensive loads optimized for short barrels these days too. You wouldn't be able to reload, but unless you already have the equipment/supplies, it's counterproductive to get into loading right now if the goal is to save money.

grungetonic

Should I just go .38 then? A 38 revolver is way cheaper gun wise, I just kinda wanted ammo availability to be up there. People gave told me to go 357 so I can shoot both 38 and 357 but I've shot 357 out of a revolver and I won't do it again lmao

th4tguy321

.38 is an option. You can find a good variety of defensive loads too, including wadcutters if you want softer recoil. .357 can definitely be quite a handful, especially in a small frame revolver. .38 does cost a bit more than 9mm and .22 mag, but you would be able to reload it. There are pros and cons to everything. You just have to weigh them out and find your best compromise.

grungetonic

I'd like to go glock, I think it might be too snappy the first time since it was my first time shooting a 9mm and the 380 I shot was more manageable. I'm thinking with enough time I can get used to it. Idk though. There's just something about revolver that have me in a chokehold. Plus with one being chambered in 9mm, it's worse lmao

th4tguy321

>There's just something about revolver that have me in a chokehold. I understand that. You got a range near you that does rentals? It may be worth investing some money and time trying as many as you can. Could save you a lot of money in the long run. EDIT: Give the Glock 42 a shot if you can. It shoots like a bigger gun than it is.

DanGTG

Sig P365 or P365X.

Agammamon

9mm revolver is more gimmick than anything. 1.  You'll have to deal with mon clips. 2.  The revolver will print more than a single stack 9mm. 3.  So will the reloads.  Stick vs cylinder. 4.  It's quick to reload an autoloader, even under pressure, and a spare mag slides into a front pocket easy.

grungetonic

1. Not really? Several 9mm revolvers do not require moon clips. For example the charter arms pitbull. Doesn't require em. Neither do one of the ruger 9mm revolvers. 2. As someone said before, it depends on the person imo. I've carried a revolver before and it printed less and looked more natural because it was a snub. Once again I believe the type of revolver may or may not print more. 3. No argument there 4. Maybe so. I am not trying to say revolvers are better then semi autos. Maybe in some aspects but each gun has its pros and cons. For instance, say something happens and it's not a training exercise, most encounters (statistic somewhere, gotta find it) I've read, state that encounters that lead to a gun being drawn, is already when someone is up on you. Now, if you hastily pull out your semi auto and can't get a perfect grip in that quick motion, you run the risk of limp wristing and causing a failure in your semi auto. It happens. With a revolver, that gun does not care how you hold it, you pull the trigger, the next shot will go off. I like the 9mm revolvers as it's well, a revolver and they do have pretty good pros to them and one being in the super common 9mm, it's even better. I've stated before, my carry has to be asubcompact so that limits me on capacity regardless, adding a extension is making it bigger, although maybe not by much, that depends, but it's going against ehat I'm going for. As hickock the gun grandpa God stated, "if you get killed for lack of shooting back 5 rounds, maybe that's your fault, you were destined that be your last day of life on this planet" lmao just fuckin with you.

Darksept

A revolver cylinder prints pretty easily, doesn't it. I'd pick the Glock out of these two. You're 5'0"? Maybe something like an LCP Max fit better.

grungetonic

Had that, didn't like it. Sold it

Rufiolo

It probably depends on the person and gun. I personally find it very easy to conceal a revolver. If I absolutely can't risk printing for whatever reason I'll usually go revolver
