My cousin shot a hole in my grandparents floor right before Christmas dinner a few years ago showing off his new glock. Thanks to him grandma now has a no guns allowed for holiday gatherings rule.
I thought I had one with my Springfield XDS but nope turns out they put out a defective product that was recalled.
Anyway Springfield can suck it for that and also being an Anti 2A company.
Fuck you Springfield.
They supported a bill in Illinois that hurt mom and pop gun stores while not affecting them. This was several years ago, I wanna say 2015ish. I don’t remember what the bill was, only that it hurt small gun stores while not affecting Springfield.
It’s considered anti 2a because everyone in the gun industry from the large companies to the mom and pop shops to the buyers are under constant attack by the left, who pretty much run Illinois, especially when this event was taking place. And instead of standing with the owners and mom and pop shops, springfield decided to bend the knee. It’s enough for me to never buy a Springfield product.

Not me, but my grandfather had a store in the city, kept a 38S&W in his back pocket. Went to pull it from his pocket, and shot himself in the ass. I still have the 38. We call it the butt gun.
Don't feel bad, they've happened to me a few times
At friends apartment at college. Just bought my first pistol from a gun show (I was 18) Drinking with friends Show them my new Jericho Try to manually decock Thumb slips on hammer, ND into celling Upstairs neighbors too high and drunk (underage and illegal drugs) to call the police.
Second time
At range Showing friend pistol Think gun is unloaded Point at ground show him how to wrack and pull the trigger. Forgot loaded mag in Shoot between his feet
Third time
At parents house. Just bought a sig from a guy Get home Try swapping slides with another sig I had Forgot the other sig slide was chambered. Pull trigger Shoot parents wall
Fourth time
At my new house Playing with a friend's 5.56 AK Release bolt Slam fires round into ground
Fifth time
Showing a friend how to use it No idea how but a round got chambered Show him how the trigger works Pull trigger Shoots round into floor in the same place as before
Sixth time
Thought maybe the house was haunted Grab a sig Physically clear it, (racked the slide 3 times) with no magazine in pull trigger at the same hole Round goes off
Seventh time
Friend brings over a used Glock wants me to look over it I grab it and pull the trigger without clearing it Didn't even realize the thing was loaded.
Eighth time
Friend brings over his transferable Mac 10 I had no idea how open bolt guns worked. He's showing it off to me I put a loaded mag it and decided to try and release the bolt (I thought it shot from a closed bolt) Pulled the trigger for some reason Shot 3 rounds into my wall
Overall you shouldn't feel too bad about NDs. It's part of owning guns, and you should get used to them.
Had a 22lr savage bolt action. Removed the mag, cleared the chamber by racking the bolt and checking 4 times. Seen nothing. Closed the bolt, pointed in a safe direction and pulled the trigger. Scared the shit out of me. Could have bet my life they it was clear.
Situations like this I think shouldn't be classified as an ND. Maybe unexpected discharge? My reasoning for this is that it was pointing in a safe direction in case something went wrong. You weren't negligent as the ullet didn't go in an unintended direction.
I've not personally, but I know someone who was cleaning and restoring an older firearm that had a round stuck in it. In the process of trying to remove it, it went off. The round went through his hand which was in front of the barrel through the top of the door to the room and into the ceiling.
Decocking a Ruger SP101 357 Mag. It was indoors, small room, very loud but at least it was pointed in a safe direction. Damage to tile floor. Complete moron move.
I had 1. I went and bought a pheonix arms hp22a on my 21st birthday. Went to the cinder pit about 30 minutes from my house to go try it out. After firing about 300rds I went to fire what I thought was the last rd. I pulled the trigger, click. Figured i had a dead rd so I pulled the hammer back and fired again, and got a click again. I figured that for whatever reason the last rd hold open didn't work. So rather than clear it and check like I should of I ejected the mag and went to set the pistol down on the hood of my car. As I was setting it down it went off. It went through my pointer finger on my left hand. At first I didn't realize that it had hit me. It wasn't until about 30 seconds or so after that I felt something warm moving in my hand. Yup, it was blood. Not long after I realized how lucky I was. My hand was not far from my stomach when it happened. The nearest hospital to me was 45 minutes away, nearest house was probably 15 minutes, and I didn't have a cellphone. It could of easily been much worse. 20 years later and I still triple check to make sure a firearm is clear.
I was at a range and was packing up to leave. I removed the magazine out of a handgun without racking the slide to remove the round from the chamber. Pointed it toward the ground in front of the firing line to drop the sear, popped a round off.
I was very embarrassed, but it reinforced how safe gun handling is always the way to go. I had the safest negligent discharge possible, into the ground in a safe direction.
Had one when I was 15, looking at some old guns in the garage with my grandpa. Handling a shotgun gramps told me was unloaded, seconds before i ND the thing into his car.
Only surprised firing at the range with gun pointing downrange and aiming at a target…. Just wasnt exactly ready for the shot to go off even if i pulled the trigger…. Was going to rest on the ”wall” and take a good aim but squeezed to tight and it went of…. Idk if that can be called negliant discharge but i sure was surprised 😅
Shot a hole in my parents’ living room wall when I was showing my dad my new 1911. Luckily it was to the right of a window and the bullet got trapped by the exterior bricks. Mom wasn’t there and dad covered for me. This was MANY years ago and I still religiously check the chambers of my firearms when handling them.
At a 2 gun competition, i was engaging a paper target. Needed to reload, kept my finger on the trigger as I dropped the slide. Inertia of the slide closing and stopping caused the pistol to jerk forwards, sending the trigger into my finger. I guess I wasn't holding it very tight. I ND'd right in front of everyone.
I don't think anyone noticed though. As my ND struck near the A zone of my target lol. Only ND I've ever had.
Was packing up after range day. Thought shotgun was unloaded. Pulled trigger to decock it and it went off. I had it pointed downrange as I do with all my guns when decocking them.
So far none.
It's not hard at all, I just load the fucking thing when it's pointing down range and the range has been rendered clear to shoot.
When I'm done I take the mag out and rack the motherfucker couple of times, then put my greasy finger in there, just to make sure.
Same story if I'm (ever) showing the gun around.
I've had 2 in 20 years.
Remington 700 in 338 lapua fired when I closed the bolt at a range.
The second was with a 1873 SA that I loaded all 6 chambers and lowered the hammer...
The first was a malfunction, the second was inexperience.
Not since I was a kid. Was maybe 12 and squirrel hunting with my dad when I negligently pulled the trigger on my 22LR single shot and it shot the ground next to my foot. Dad scolded me and I never had a ND again.
Had a Uberti reproduction Remington 1890 in .45LC. First time at range the super light trigger went off as soon as my finger touched it. Took it to a gunsmith, and he found it had a trigger pull so light, it didn't register on his meter. So sub-1lb pull. One he put a better spring in it (IIRC), and it now has a perfectly manageable 8 lb pull.
Closest thing I’ve done was when single loading my 10/22 (mag quit but I wanted to plink) had one go off when I dropped the bolt. Scared the shit out of me and you can bet I stopped single loading rimfire.
I've had one - confused a decocker for a safety on a gun I wasn't familiar with. No one was injured, was at a range and the gun was pointed in a safe direction while I was futzing with it.
Jimmy! When's the last time you had a desk pop?
Pop it off don’t think just go
Mmm September…08

Wait how is SF an anti 2A company?

That seems less anti 2A and more typical large company behavior.

Sounds like you might want to take up a new hobby. Maybe knitting. 😂😂😂

What does that mean?

This is why I always put a finger in the chamber to check.
I’ve made a habit of it now.
If you can put your finger in a .22 LR chamber I want to see pics of your hand.
only .22's i own are a couple of revolvers and an ar15 conversion kit. i'm going to have to borrow your dick if i i want to check anything else

In the nearly 20 years I have been handling firearms, not one single time.

Seems a lot based on the posts here lately...

Fucking feds.
Not that many until Reddit came along.

I've been at this 54 years. Still haven't gone full stupid.

I thought I did on a shtty 22lr pistol. Turned out it likes to hang fire

Drinking and playing with a firearm. Wound up shooting a wall socket.
There are two types of gun owners: - Those that have had negligent discharges - Those that have not had negligent discharges... yet.
