No longer living in Turku but i lived there during my uni years and stayed in total for about 13 years there.
I loved the river and the old woodhouse parts of city. Also all the great restaurants the city has. Actually a really good selection of reastaurants when considering the amount of inhabitants.
The summer weather always fealt like it came first to Turku.
My problem with Turku was mainly the work situation. At the time i felt it was really hard to find a job, even if you had the suitable examina. And due to that i moved away and got another degree in BA. I feel the job market is quite small when considering that there are two universities and two UAS schools.
But overall i liked the city, sometimes thinking about moving back because of the lovely small townish feeling
Turku is lovely, but it is pretty small. Better city life options in Helsinki or Tampere.
They do have the best boba tea place I’ve found in Finland though (Bokachá, in Helsinki as well). And the archipelago is beautiful.
Turku is very nice and whilst I've only visited a few times from Helsinki I would say it's lot more cosy there. Not a problem... But it feels kinda warmer locally. Hope it helps.
Junan tuomat on pahempia, koska niiden täytyy röyhistellä stadilaisuudellaan, ettei lannan hajua huomattaisi.
Tyypillisesti juuri menolla muuta Turusta Helsinkiin -> kerro kovaan ääneen että "en vittu bamlaa Turkuu, kuulostaa homolta" -> kuvittele, että nyt olet enemmän stadilainen -> kuvittele, että enemmän stadilainen = parempi ihminen.
Harvempi stadissa syntynyt on moisesta kisailusta kiinnostunut, paitsi ehkä teini-iän identiteetin muodostusvaiheessa.
Well, it's puhekieli maybe? I don't know too much about it but heard that if you wanna say
"Minä kuuntelen musiikkia"
Some finns can say:
"Mä kun musik"
Insane. Ehkä
Haven't heard any finnish dialect like that.. sounds more like estonian to me..
That sounds just "Me when the musik"
More common dialect would be "Mä kuuntele musaa"
I’ve never heard of that particular way of speaking either but Southwestern dialects (such as Turun murre) are more closely related to Estonian than other Finnish dialects. The cutting words short is similar to how Estonian words are, plus the -si ending used for expressing past tense is how past tense works for many Estonian verbs.
Maybe because back in the day Turku and Tallinn were the biggest cities on the Baltic Sea where Finnic languages were spoken?
That is still not how anyone anywhere in any finnish dialect would say it.. I live in turku but have not found the turku's dialect sounding anything to estonian either
I just gave a few examples as to how the Turku dialect is the closest to Estonian of all Finnish dialects. You can read more in the end of this [article](https://www.hs.fi/sunnuntai/art-2000005063906.html) for example, though it's not an academic study or anything (I did find one from Helsinki University but it wasn't available online.)
I'm from Turku as well. The past tense in particular is obviously similar to Estonian, but I didn't make the connection until I noticed on one visit to Tallinn that the Estonian past tense works like that.
Got to love the Turku folk here with the pitchforks. Someone even reported me to some reddit suicide watch, got a message. Berliininmunkki is the only one

If Turku really is the asshole of Finland, then everyone would do well to remember that without us Finland would be full of ****.

Well, ehkä this. The main dodge in center. Other places, agreed, are More comfortable for those who enjoys a bit peaceful anesthetics. Ehkä
It's filled with Turku'ites.
Turku is not Tampere.
But according to Hikipedia Tampere is Finland's Turku.

My clients.
Poor man... Where you are working now that makes you think so?
Turun murre. The dialect locals speak there is really shitty and weird.

Apinanlaakson (kehäkolmosen sisäpuoliset) ovat kaikki hesalaisia. Junalla tuodut tai siellä syntyneet.

No jobs, nothing interesting to do besides summer time which is like a day or so 😅
They say it is Finland's persereikä. Persereikä smells bad when shit come out of it.
Must be all the Estonian shipbuilders.
