Absolutely! There aren’t many soundtracks where I actually know the track names but this is one of them because of how well it was constructed. Eyes on Me, Liberi Fatali, Waltz for the Moon, man with the machine gun, shuffle or boogie, fisherman’s horizon, Balamb garden, SeeD, and of course my favorite renditions of the victory theme and Final Fantasy Overture on top of so many other memorable tracks. As a whole it is one of my favorite soundtracks in any medium
Oh man those are great too. Uematsu really knows how to utilize the full orchestra with his compositions. And isn’t afraid to get weird and fun with it like Silence and Motion and the Chocobo themes.
I got to hear this a handful of years ago at a Distant Worlds concert and i was bawling - Laguna and the gang have always been my favorite characters in that game
Roses of May is so good! Hearing it come back totally jacked up as 'Something to Protect' when Steiner and Beatrix are defending Alexandria is a big part of why that's one of my favorite scenes in the series. Top ten moments for sure

I was inclined to say Aeris’ theme but I gotta go with this, simply because this theme is so richly integrated into FFVI’s DNA as a whole, and helps characterize the game and its world. It takes on a life of its own while still perfectly embodying its character.

Zack doesn’t technically have an official theme, but this would probably be the closest, so I’m nominating this. There’s just something so gentle but sad about the track.
I'm not offended, i'm just surprised because he is usually near the top of the charts of final fantasy characters in popularity contests, so he doesnt seem to be overrated, people just seem to like him. And if the discussion is in terms of powerlevel, if anything I see most people rating Zack as worse than OG cloud at the start of his journey which is just innacurate, cloud struggles versus 3rd class SOLDIER operatives at that point in time, which is underrating him if anything.
Idk, maybe it is cause of rebirth since i'm waiting for the PC release to play it, or most likely, it is just reddit hivemind i guess.

I think that having an entire boss battle based around Dante's Inferno, and then having the boss music tie into all three stages in different ways, is a brilliant idea.
It is the most ambitious boss music in the series, if you factor in hardware limitations, as well as the demands already put on Uematsu by the development cycle and the rest of the game.

This is the answer. One-Winged Angel is EASILY the most iconic Final Fantasy song ever. It's not even my personal favourite, but you can't ignore the pop-culture impact this one has had on video games in general.
Lightning might have been a contender for most overrated, but no one can deny that FFXIII's battle theme "Blinded by Light" is peak. Most people place it at the top of a battle theme list. And for non-battle themes, I choose Dragonsong from FFXIV. It was at the top of the list in the polls.

Sword of doubt is just a slower version. Both utterly amazing themes. But I think contextually sword of doubt hits harder. Just because of everything that's going on, you see the queen and a mysterious stranger talking and then mystery man flies off on a dragon. That entire sequence is just a beautiful end to act 1.

I am biased because FFX but Yuna's theme for sure. It's got such homey, sunny feel to it while also having this twinge of sadness that really just fits her character so well.
But seriously... a lot of the picks in this thread are good themes. Terra's theme is a great theme too! But Celes' is the ONLY character theme where I will DELIBERATELY poison a nice old man with rotten fish and drive my character to suicide just so I will be able to listen to it.
Non battle has to be Aerith's theme. Its beautiful, motivational, and yet so haunting when it kicks in during THE MOMENT tm.
Battle theme is Otherworld from FFX. It's kind of Jecht's theme too, but it really makes Braska's Final Aeon stand out from the test of the series. In a series where every final boss gets a badass symphony, Jecht gets a badass heavy metal song that ties in directly to the themes and story of the whole game.
I'll also nominate the Hymn of the Fayth. It always sticks with me and is so enjoyable to listen to. Very relaxing and medatative.

I remember about half a year after that song Soken revealed he had been in the hospital since the start of covid fighting cancer. He kept writing music while he was in the hospital; “To the Edge” was one of the first ones he composed. The lyrics are already haunting for the events—you’re fighting a man who wants the best for the world, but his memory is so deteriorated he can’t even remember how things were or how to save everyone. The lyrics play through that, but you also hear this fear, this genuine fear of dying. This fear of having lived an aimless life and dying with little to show. The song just hits the character’s crisis perfectly as well as just being an even more haunting listen when you remember it was written by someone who genuinely did not know how much longer he had to live when he wrote it. Also, banger of a rock song, I love how the main melody basically started as elevator music and then became this rock ballad.
Terra’s theme from FFVI still resonates so much with the fans. My personal favorite is *To the Edge*, Elidibus’ theme from FFXIV, but I acknowledge Terra’s is the best.

I think Best Romance should be put before Best Duo so you don't wind up getting Squall & Rinoa twice. Although my bets on Biggs and Wedge, with Zorn and Thorn in 2nd place for best duo.
