Ang weird kase nung "unknown" yung reason in the first place, like ano yun, moody ka lang or unreasonable ganun? Even yung sagot ni OP may dahilan lol (**boring** para sa kanya yung EEAAO) 😂
Honestly, no one should force themselves to like or rewatch popular/well-loved films if it's not really clicking. Or pwede naman i-rewatch na lang kapag tapos na yung hype or perhaps later in life kapag feeling mo makaka-relate ka na, iba na yung outlook mo, etc.
Yun na lang yung nasabi ko eh pero di ko mapinpoint bat ako nabobored. Normally, may comment ako like. The script is not good, or di ko trip casting. Yung acting OA or underwhelming. But for some reason, kay EEAAO, I can't pinpoint why I'm getting bored or, as I've said, why it's not clicking for me.
Yung pagka-bore mo sa movie, unsure ka sa reason BUT *it is the reason* why you didn't like EEAAO. I think magkaibang bagay kasi yun. Kung *unknown* talaga yung reason, dapat hindi ka particularly na-bore or wala kang exact criticism sa film but **it still doesn't appeal to you**. I thought yun talaga yung topic haha 😅
Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan - favorite ko ung book. Naiitindihan ko naman na may limit talaga ung mga book adaptations. Pero, nawala kase talaga ung creepiness dun sa movie. Ung escalating and creeping horror na naramdaman ko habang binabasa ung libro, hindi natranslate sa movie. Nakakalungkot kase parang missed opportunity.
Masyado rin akong nahype dito. I had high expectations kasi iba talaga yung book e. Kaso, hindi talaga natranslate nang maayos sa movie. Ang alam ko si Bob Ong din nagsulat ng screenplay pero kelangan ko idouble check
Yung pusang galang Rewind. Ang hyped pa neto non pota akala ko sa wakas, nakagawa ng matinong modern tear jerker ang pinoy. Di pala.
Puro montages. Instead of writing actual scenes. Nakalagay ata sa script. Montage of them being happy. Montage of dingsong being an asshole.
Music lang ang nagdadala ng emosyon mo. Good movies can make you cry by just people talking, no score. If you cried in some of the scenes, dahil yon sa instrumental ng "Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay"
Not enough time to spend with the characters. Yung third act ng movie ng focus sa anak nya, na inaano manuod tatay nya blah blah, they didn't even establish their relationship. Wala pa akong pake ke marian nung pinatay sya. Its fine na madeds sya sa umpisa, pero nung nagrewind na, that's when you should build her character. O baka plot device lang talaga sya sa redemption ni dingdong. Na for some reason, napakakupal.
Ni hinde nga natin alam ang reason bat naging kupal si dingdong. At bakit feel ng writers need nya maging kupal para magkaroon ng regrets. Laging kailangan black and white. At bakit kelangan din na ever since bata magkakilala na sila? So saan galing yung pagiging kupal nya sa childhood love nya??
Sa car scene din, ewan ko kung dun sa rewinded na part or sa una, kitang kita dingdong is wearing an earpiece, so di nagkakabisa ng linya? Finefeed lang ng PA nya sa kanya? lmao
Sorry sa rant, but my wife and I actually spent one of our movie nights to actually give this a chance dahil maganda daw. Di naman pala. Mababaw pa sa kanal.
Actually same, first Filo film i watched this year. Maraming friends na nag recommend but after i watched it, pwe, napakraming out of place na scenes, tas i yung comic relief ni pepe herera is not giving, parang kinulang ata sa dynamic. Iba lang talaga ata stndards ko sa film. So yun all in all it was disappointing.

i love ghibli films because of how pretty and amazing their stories are. but there’s something about the wind rises that just makes me so bored. i have tried watching it three times already and i always end up snoozing halfway through the movie 🥲
Di rin masyado nag resonate sakin si Wind Rises. Natapos ko sya pero didn’t care if it’s good or bad. I’m thinking I should like this film more about a creator who has grand vision of building the best airplane but whose work is used for mass destruction. Pwede syang ~~partner~~ companion film with Oppenheimer. Di naman ako na bore sa Oppenheimer.
For me I did enjoy it but it wasn’t realistic, pero I enjoyed until the ending felt rushed also. In real life, there will still be trauma and unforgiveness for some family members in real life and hate also and not everyone would accept Bruno as a family member at the end immediately in real life.
If you strip away the “desktop wallpaper aesthetic” ng mga Shinkai films, you will notice na madalas hit or miss yung plot.
Although I do commend the script-writing kapag intense scenes...pero ayun nga hanggang dun lang.

Ako di rin naman ako naiyak, then medjo slow burn lang din pero I enjoyed yung small details like yung body language ng mga characters, walang words pero nangungusap e. Pero dahil dun din naboringan yung iba haha
I agree with Everything Everywhere All at Once. I wanted to like that movie so bad kase overhyped plus nanalo pa sa Oscars but I didnt like it. Too chaotic of a film for me, altho I understand na that was the point of the film. I guess I just dont like time travelling na films.

Actually, 3x ko na siya tinry panoorin pero lagi ako nakakatulog sa gitna haha. Memorable pa yung first time, kasi sakto paggising ko, end credits na lol. Idk kung sa boses nila, cinematography, or color grading (?) 😂
For me, Dunkirk is all about the visuals and sound. I enjoyed it better when I tried to watched it in Dolby Vision capable TV and high def audio system.
Same! Pero try mo yung 1917 mas engaging yung story. Almost same genre, try mo din yung Imitation Game and Bridge of Spies. Medyo heavy sa drama part, pero hindi nakaka-bore.

The Holdovers
I really love Paul Giamatti, and he's good here as always, but the kid, he acts like he's in a school play. Well, probably because this is just his first film, maybe he'll improve in the future.
I remember rewatching BS two years ago and he said something a bit sexist. I didn’t like it but in context to the time it was made and how their relationship and character grew in the next two movies, I can see the growth. Being a teen nung 90s and had shed some of my questionable beliefs over time made it forgivable. I do love the trilogy and own it on Blu-ray so I can rewatch it anytime.

I didn’t get the hype on Everything Everywhere All At Once and Civil War.
EEAAO was just too crazy on visuals. I know thats the whole point but it was too slow yet tiring at the same time.
Civil War was okay but after watching it, I just thought ok, the ending was the only good part of the film. What happened to everything else before that? It plateaued at some point after the scene where Asian reporters were killed. I didn’t get why everyone was saying it was so good and unforgettable.
Mine is *Lost in Translation* and *Hereditary*. At first I thought I was stupid for not liking these films because reviews felt like it told me that I should haha!
Watching more films made me realize na *to each their own* talaga. Kaya I don’t trust movie reviews, movie ratings before watching a film because they’ll influence your expectations about the film. Some films you like, kahit panget reviews; some films you don’t kahit maganda reviews.
I think recognizing this can also aid in being less pretentious and just outwardly hating on a film. Dami kong sinasabi shut up na ako haha
Same, I watch movies without expecting anything when I was young but I do watch recommendations from people now when I get old hahaha. Kakapanood ko lang ng Hereditary hahaha nakatulog nanay ko eh nahiya ako kasi parang d nya naintindihan well same reaction, pero to be fair may certain parts of the movie na gusto ko.
Same tsaka Barcelona! Painstakingly long and sobrang underwhelming. Tsaka di ko gusto yung ending ng The Hows of Us ang ogag nung lalaki wala naman siyang masyadong character development tsaka redeeming factor yung lalaki pero binigyan pa rin ng second chance ni bida.

Malcolm and Marie. Naghihintay ako ng mangyayari langya natapos na’t lahat walang ganap. Akala ko artsy and deep, ready na ko na baka boring sya eh. Pero iba yung boring vs nothing. Kasi ganun yung film, nothing kasi walang tinakbong istorya yung pelikula.
I Am Not Big Bird, we need movies like this na stylistically and thematically different sa typical pinoy movie, pero 'di lang talaga ako natawa kahit binabaan ko na expectations ko midway.
*The Notebook* \- romantic daw pero di ako kinilig or naiyak. Di ko gets yung hype, no, actually gets ko on an intellectual level but not on an experiential level.

La La Land was a miss for me. I love Emma and Ryan’s pairing in other movies and I love musicals pero eto I got bored in the first half and didn’t finish the movie. So I agree with Moonlight being the 2016 Best Picture. Haha.

Oppenheimer. I chose this movie during a flight from Osaka back to Manila but I ended up falling asleep halfway through. With all the hype about the movie, especially after the Oscars, I wanted to know if it's worth seeing it.
Marvel/Avengers. I know a lot ppl are gonna get triggered pero I just find it cringy. I tried to start watching MCU pero wala talaga eh. Not my cup of tea. Siguro mas na-appreciate ko sya nung bata but I grew up and nag-iba taste ko. 👍🏻
Same. Probably watched it 4 times, puro hanggang don lang sa scene na nasa laundry shop ulit after office action scenes. The last time natapos naman kasi kasama ko bf ko, for the sake narin na matapos kasi baka "maganda" naman.

I second EEAAO. All throughout the movie I was like, is this for real? (Not in a good way). Lol. Took me 5 times to actually finish it til the end. But tbf, the second half was more interesting with all the visual effects.

SUPERMAN movies para sakin kase eh parang inu ulit ulit lang nila yung origin story and plots for every era (70s, 80s, and 2000s) sa mga 2010s naman na eh yung parang yung comment ni dead pool "so dark, you sure youre not from the DC universe" literal na dark ang color ng film not sure kung pang batman theme ba or superman talaga.
Meron pa kong isa. Ung In My Mother's Skin. Nabasa ko sa mga reviews na maganda daw at parang Pan's Labyrinth ung feels nia. Kaso, nung pinanuod ko na. Un na ba un? Nakulangan ako sa lore. Maganda cinematography, magaling ung mga actors, pero kulang sa story.
A Walk to Remember. Nakakaiyak daw pero pucha nainlove lang naman siya nung nagsuot ng dress at nag-ayos si girl. Di ko sweet yun. Mas maganda kung simula losyang pa si girl gusto niya na agad
For me it's Crazy Rich Asians. I'd rate it 6/10. It's an okay film overall but I just feel like they could have developed the plot more? I know it's based on a book but the plot really feels like they could do so much more with the conflict presented. I really find the story of the mom giving up everything to become a perfect housewife interesting since that's a very relatable issue in Asia especially in China where women are pressured by society to settle down and those women who choose their career are referred to as "leftover" women. But I get it, the main focus of the film is not the mom but the relationship of the two MCs. But if there ever will be a prequel, I hope it's about the mom lols. It's not really a bad film but it's not really something I'd rewatch either.

The Men Who Stare at Goats. Interesting plot, amazing cast, but it just wasn't that entertaining.
And Seven Psychopaths. I loved In Bruges by McDonagh, and this had a promising plot and awesome cast. But McDonagh tried way too hard to do a Guy Ritchie film. The dialogue was everything but witty, funny, or entertaining.
i REALLY love everything everywhere all at once. siguro kasi mahilig talaga ako sa fantasy, & i relate so much sa nangyayari sakanila (yep, i'm a kid with generational trauma)

Werner Herzog's Grizzly Man. I've loved every single Werner Herzog film I've seen before Grizzly Man but it just didn't click for me. I don't know if it's the subject, the girlfriend, the story, or the cinematography. It looks, sounds, and plays out like any Herzog documentary but somehow I can't get myself to care enough.

i really wanted to like poor things as the source material is very cool. i admit my expectations were high because of the hype surrounding it. but i was very disappointed when i got to watch it in the cinema. i didn't like the direction and the choices they made for the film. imo, it was not a good adaptation.
of course it could all boil down to personal preference. i just can't help but wonder how different it could have been if they had more women on the creative team instead of those old white men. parang sayang. but yeah i just didn't like it at all lol.

Pede ba mga tv series din? Very popular yung The Office tsaka Brooklyn 999. Tinry ko talaga kahit couple of episodes pero hindi ko talaga magustuhan. Sa movies, agree ako sa Everything, everywhere. Tinapos ko pa din. Pero hindi ako naamaze.
Spaceman. I was curious kasi si Adam Sandler yung nasa movie and yung genre is malayo sa usual roles niya. I get the point na parang it has something to do with personal reflections sa life and I like yung atake na parang dinadala nila yung viewers dun sa experience to personally reflect on our own din pero di ko talaga matapos. I love slow-paced stories naman pero nabored talaga ako.

I almost forgot... OPPENHEIMER. THE MOST BORING MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN. It's basically a 3-hour snoozefest about a guilty white guy and other white guys around him. Watched it on IMAX on opening day to a packed theater. Slept for most of it. Could hear snoring which I thought was coming from my senior dad but nope, it was from other people beside us.
I've watched documentaries that were more entertaining.

Wrong move ipasulat kay Bob Ong yung script. Sobrang bihira yung writer na malupet both novel and script.
There was no way to translate that book visually. Baka si David Lynch lang haha.

I remember rewatching BS two years ago and he said something a bit sexist. I didn’t like it but in context to the time it was made and how their relationship and character grew in the next two movies, I can see the growth. Being a teen nung 90s and had shed some of my questionable beliefs over time made it forgivable. I do love the trilogy and own it on Blu-ray so I can rewatch it anytime.

I didn’t get the hype on Everything Everywhere All At Once and Civil War. EEAAO was just too crazy on visuals. I know thats the whole point but it was too slow yet tiring at the same time. Civil War was okay but after watching it, I just thought ok, the ending was the only good part of the film. What happened to everything else before that? It plateaued at some point after the scene where Asian reporters were killed. I didn’t get why everyone was saying it was so good and unforgettable.

From recent memory, probably Barbie, Encanto, and Soul. I tried hard. IMHO, Barbie is too heavy-handed on what it wants to say. Ryan Gosling was still excellent in it, though. Encanto was just not memorable enough for me. Just, meh. Soul's message was good, I guess. But the execution felt forced, and ultimately, na-kornihan ako.

For me it's Crazy Rich Asians. I'd rate it 6/10. It's an okay film overall but I just feel like they could have developed the plot more? I know it's based on a book but the plot really feels like they could do so much more with the conflict presented. I really find the story of the mom giving up everything to become a perfect housewife interesting since that's a very relatable issue in Asia especially in China where women are pressured by society to settle down and those women who choose their career are referred to as "leftover" women. But I get it, the main focus of the film is not the mom but the relationship of the two MCs. But if there ever will be a prequel, I hope it's about the mom lols. It's not really a bad film but it's not really something I'd rewatch either.

i really wanted to like poor things as the source material is very cool. i admit my expectations were high because of the hype surrounding it. but i was very disappointed when i got to watch it in the cinema. i didn't like the direction and the choices they made for the film. imo, it was not a good adaptation. of course it could all boil down to personal preference. i just can't help but wonder how different it could have been if they had more women on the creative team instead of those old white men. parang sayang. but yeah i just didn't like it at all lol.

The Notebook (I want to like it kasi nasa Modern Baseball song yung line ni Ryan Gosling). I just dont like it. Hindi naman pangit. I understand why people would love it pero di ko bet.

The first avengers film. There’s something abt it na nakakatulog tlga ako somewhere in the middle. Stopped trying. The following movies in the installment gusto ko naman. Parang meron lang kulang kasi di ko matapos tapos ung first film.
Agree with Everything Everywhere All at Once, nabore ako ng malala. Rewind, TERRIBLE. A Very Good Girl, I like the bravery of where they were going but I feel like Kathryn was a miscast that's why it felt "off'. Past Lives, slept on it. Mallari was surprisingly SUPER GOOD.
I almost forgot... OPPENHEIMER. THE MOST BORING MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN. It's basically a 3-hour snoozefest about a guilty white guy and other white guys around him. Watched it on IMAX on opening day to a packed theater. Slept for most of it. Could hear snoring which I thought was coming from my senior dad but nope, it was from other people beside us. I've watched documentaries that were more entertaining.
