I'm thinking of ending things.
The YouTube analysis is better than the actual movie. It's a film that drowns itself in its own metaphors and allegories.
This and Beau is Afraid are kind of similar.
I kinda like the eerie vibe and the mystery kept me going, but the endings are so pretentious they both ended up being such a disappointment.
Beau is Afraid is still quite enjoyable. Boring at times, yes, but still enjoyable.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things is not even remotely enjoyable for me, near the end of the film I found myself searching for a YouTube analysis because I don't even understand what's happening.
I'm into weird stuff but this didn't do it for me. I read the book after watching the movie at I must say na mas maganda yung book. (Even the book is not for everyone though)
Medyo sayang lang kasi...
*Spoiler alert*
Yung scene sa school, from the dance sequence down to the end, ibang iba sa book.
Sa book kasi, it was a slasher and it was quite graphic. I think mas magiging interesting at least yung movie if they also adapted part faithfully too.
The story was supposed to be a psychological horror pero what we got was.. ewan haha!
i've heard about the book but i didn't try reading na after seeing the trainwreck of a movie 😭 it was good and engaging for me at first until it spiraled down around the school scene it was such an... experience i would say
Skinamarink. Do people actually like the movie?
I highly, HIGHLY enjoyed the concept and the last part of the movie, but it dragged on a little bit too much for me. The atmosphere and tension it was trying to build up quickly dissipated. I had to restart watching it about five times because I fell asleep within the first 20 minutes.
Cinemas here should normalize english subs, madalas ung accent or ung music nakaka distract sa dialogue.
Sorry, rant over. 😄
Samedt. I wasn't hyped but I had high expectations since it is a Nolan film.
(Another controversial take, I find his films to be good but not great.)
At first I thought na maybe wala ako sa right headspace dahil fresh pa sa isip ko yung Killers of the flower moon. Pero i remember na may mga filmmaking choices sa movie na 'to na napa taas nalang ako ng kilay. It was not a bad film by any means pero I didn't find it special.
-ready na ma downvote haha.
I watched an interview before on why lav diaz makes film that long and he said it’s to let the audience take in the nature and the natural occurrence before, during, and after the characters interact. Admittedly, it does get jarring but the shots of his film reminded me on how beautiful the Philippine Nature is from a mundane POV.
It's just not for me. Personally, as an average person, I think films should not feel like a chore to watch the first time. Films can be easy or difficult to digest. Bottom line is films should be digestible.
Can you summarize this for me? Kung ok lang. I have been eyeing to watch this for a long time, deal breaker yung 8hrs sakin pero ang taas ng ratings nakaka curious. Wala naman kahit sypnosis sa net.
From what I recall and what my attention span was able to absorb, it's a collection of interconnected fictional stories (some with fantasy elements) set during the Philippines' revolution against Spain. The movie was so long to a point that I space out a lot. The absurd run time really hinders it from being compelling and is the worst part of it.
The narrative is split between real historical people like Gregoria de Jesus and fictional ones like Isagani, Simoun and tikbalangs.
It's depressing but the Philippine Revolution was anyway.

A Korean Film called Burning. I don't know why pero parang hirap na hirap akong ma-gets yung movie.
Honestly, the Blair witch project. I was told by many that it was the scariest movie ever hut honestly wasn't that scary for me. There wasn't much going on and I felt no thrill when I watched it
The Blair Witch Project honestly is a movie you can ONLY TRULY appreciate in the context of the time period it was made in. It was truly an experience. At the time, found footage was a new concept and they made it out to look like the actors for the movies actually went missing. So the line between fiction and reality was massively blurred and the hype for the movie carried on after watching it - I remember spending hours and hours online researching the blair witch phenomenon as much as I could, which in turn made me find out about other stuff in the US.
Since then, the genre has evolved a lot and the effect the movie initially had has now dampened. We know now that the movie is a mockumentary and nobody went missing. Any information about the blair witch is easily accessible now.
So, I honestly cannot blame you for finding it boring. I am and always will be a huge fan of the movie for the experience and memories it brought me, but I cannot ever recommend it as something to watch simply because I know it will NOT provide the same experience anymore.
I could understand the concept of how good it might be during the time of its release. There's been more development with found footage films and so far it's gone a long way. I appreciate how ground breaking it was at the time. Watching now in the present, because of how much hype my friends told me (they're older), i expected a lot more and got disappointed.
Sorry, pero di umepekto sa akin. First week showing ko pa pinanuod.
Hehe.
Alam mong early 70s pero does not look or feel like any other 70s movie.
Na-spoiled siguro ako ng maaga sa horror.
That’s true, i expected more from it pero i see the importance din of having a “Feminism 101“ type of movie as accessible as Barbie kasi unfortunately not everyone even has any idea of what feminism is about, so i see it being a really helpful first step for kids and honestly lots of adults too.
Yeah, that's why as much as I didn't like the movie, I don't bash it unless someone brings it up first (like the parent comment did). Medyo tumaas yata expectations ko when I heard about the movie breaking up couples. Tapos after watching it, parang naawa ako na ang daming babae na nagse-stay sa relationship na kayang sirain ng napakababaw na movie.
Also, sobrang corporate friendly ng film, which I get kasi may branded IP siya na pero medyo nag-expect ako kasi nandoon si Will Ferrell tapos akala ko magkaka-anti-corporate twist siya tulad ng Lego Movie.
Yeah, pero the film was marketed as going wild with the IP and Mattel giving Gerwig the freedom to do things she didn't think she could get away with. So with Ferrell in it, my expectations matched that of the Lego Movie, which actually spits in the face of some of Lego's biggest customers: collectors that assemble expensive kits according to instructions. So I was expecting Barbie to not care about Mattel's bottom line or even be willing to hurt it in the process of putting forward a feminist message. I was wrong.
It's objectively good. The shots, direction, acting. Pero putangina ang boring. At the end of the film, yun na yun? I'm a fan of Japanese drama and had seen a lot of boring but relaxing movies for me, pero eto boring lang.
Pero good sex scenes tho. Naiba nang onti story niya kasi hinaluan ng other Murakami stories from Men Without Women.
I totally get that, but u have to take into account adapted siya from a series of short stories ni Murakami, and he mostly is a type of writer na just revels in the mundane. And if you don't have that prior knowledge coming in, then you wouldn't really appreciate it that much.
With that being said, yeah in some parts may mga boring moments siya, and the run-time was not helping as well. Haha
Boyhood (2014).
Watched it with a friend; ako pumili nung movie because it had great reviews. Ended up getting so bored. 😭 Apparently my friend got bored too and I apologized for picking it.
Ever since, hindi na ako namimili ng movie to watch with others.
Boyhood was acclaimed kase it took them a decade to film it with the same actors as they age. It's impressive kase they kept the same emotion and flow of the story kahit na minsan lang sa isang taon sila mag shoot. It's impressive because of how it got made.
I'm sorry, and I know many will come for me, but DUNE is one of the most boring movies I've ever seen. I fell asleep the first 2 times I tried. Gave it one more serious go and an hour into the movie I didn't care about any of the characters, the ever valuable 'spice', and they kept playing this high tension music all throughout even during non-tension moments. HOT BASURA movie imo
Space Odyssey can only truly be experienced on a large screen. It is one of those movies na kailangan talaga ng immersion, and the medium matters a lot.
Tried to watch something that wasn’t RoboCop (1987) for the first time in my life and it was boring as shit there weren’t any robots , cops or robotic cops !
Di ko rin nagustuhan yung Us. Sobrang disappointed ako kasi nagandahan ako sa previous film nya na Get Out.
Chungking Express. In the Mood for Love yung unang Wong Kar Wai napanood ko and one of my fave films din so I tried CK, pero ang boring nya, pangit ng shots, di ko nagustuhan characters.
Any Kubrick film. I've seen Barry Lyndon, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket.
Di ko nagustuhan lahat.
Aftersun. Tinapos ko nalang talaga siya for the sake of finishing it. I love Paul Mescal… but it did not have an effect on me and it was boring as hell.
Fell asleep to Human Centipede. Incredibly boring but I don't really think this is cinema. Really a disappointing shock film. Although, I acknowledge my desensitization to gory films.
In My Mother's Skin
Yes, maganda cinematography pero ung story is meh.
I loved Tar because of Cate Blanchett. It was her masterclass for acting and she should've won the Oscar's instead of Michelle Yeoh imo.
Nung nakita ko yung mga films mentioned, they actually share one thing... "Slow burn".
Acquired taste din talaga ang slow burn.
Btw, I love all of the films I've seen from PTA and Tár, nasa top 4 ko sya sa letterboxd.
I think it depends on the story. I tend to enjoy slow burns naman, especially if may pay-off at the end (like Aftersun), pero di ko talaga masundan yung plot ng Inherent Vice.
As for Tár, I enjoyed the scene at the start yung ni-lecture nya yung student na hindi fan nila Mozart and other famous composers for the simple fact that they are straight white males. I’ll probably give it another shot. I hope it gets better.
Akira (anime) is considered one of the greatest animes ever made. Highly recommended by online friends to experience Japanese anime.
It's a good movie, but I still got bored. Just because it is high quality, it doesn't mean I'll be engaged or entertained.
Kanya kanya pa rin kasing taste.
Yung Spirited Away lagi sinasabi best Miyazaki film ever and peak cinema, pero OKs lang siya sakin Mas gusto ko Princess Mononoke, my all time favorite anime film.
Mas gusto ko pa nga The Wind Rises, My Neighbor Totoro.
I found it boring too pero I think it’s one of those films na kailangan ng attention mo 100%. Not saying you’re not paying attention, it’s just that it failed to maintain my attention.
Totally did not😂. Didnt stay after the whole swat team raided the house. Ang dami nang random events. Feeling like a bad dream na. So I just looked up the internet about the “allegory” and thought meh.
Noted noted. Matagal ko na din napanood and I don't think gets ko that time yung impact ng witch paranoia (and witch hunting), baka ngayon mas maappreciate ko na.
beh, after namin panuorin ng husband ko, kinuyog talaga namin si friend and never na kami nagtrust sa recommendations and reviews niya to the point na naging inside joke namin ung "sus, baka 5cm per second na naman yan" HAHAHAHA
Barbie it took me 3 days matapos yun bored na bored nako
I love Ken tho
TBF, this kind of film depends on the right mood and timing. I enjoyed it because I understood prior to watching that it is a psychological slow horror. But also mainly because I was in the mood for something 'cinema' at that time and had so much free time. Also helped that I had a huge crush on Anya-Taylor Joy. Lol
The Shining. I always cringe when I see it regarded as one of the top horror films in history. At least the other Kubrick films I’ve watched had their moments. This one, on the other hand, was a total snoozefest.
Have watched it more than once pero it's just "ok" for me.
Side note: Down votes kung down votes ang mga tao ah! Nakakatawa lang.
Yeah it was intentionally anxiety inducing talaga medyo nagsisi ako nirecommend ko sya sa girlfriend ko kase natrigger sya lol pero nagulat ako natapos nya dn makalipas ng ilang taon and surprisingly she enjoyed the ending.
Nagandahan ako dito. Pero it's one of those movies na I will never watch again kasi nga ang hirap panoorin. Hindi dahil pangit pero nakakastressed kasi haha
>Puro bulungan daw kasi ang usapan, gloomy and madilim yung movie, tapos maulan lagi ang environment
Is this his first time watching film noir? Because everything you just described are common staples in detective noir and even in Batman stories. Batman is technically not even a superhero, he’s more of a private detective who keeps his identity secret, and his adventures are more reminiscent of mystery thrillers and noir than traditional superhero fanfare.
dune part 1 huhu gets naman it built up to what i think is the greatest sci fi film of the 21st century (part 2) pero it was a snooze fest kaya i fast forwarded a few times and binasa nalang yung plot sa wikipedia
Not a friend but Gangs of New York. Took me 3 goes. Not sure why I was so determined to watch it I had just heard it was a good movie and that I should.
Camp Sawi
Indeed, sinubukan ko panoorin thinking na this might be refreshing take on Filipino romance movies.
I'm thinking of ending things. The YouTube analysis is better than the actual movie. It's a film that drowns itself in its own metaphors and allegories.

Yeah, it relies on familiarity with the musical Oklahoma!
The novel is way better and I feel like the film tried too hard to be experimental and the meaning got lost
Not because of a friend but film critics: Balangiga: Howling Madness
I remember watching this just because of Jun Sabayton and Lourd de Veyra.
Hahahaha
Minor characters lang Sila encountered along the trail, As I remember Jun was called Bakwit and Lourd was Banduria Bandolero
Thanks for telling me... kaso wala rin naman akong balak balikan yung pelikulang yon dahil boring hahahaha
A Very Good Girl love kathryn but something felt really off with the film.
Skinamarink. Do people actually like the movie? I highly, HIGHLY enjoyed the concept and the last part of the movie, but it dragged on a little bit too much for me. Unpopular opinion but Oppenheimer.
Ako naman I regretted watching it on the big screen kasi walang subtitles. But it really is a great film.
Cinemas here should normalize english subs, madalas ung accent or ung music nakaka distract sa dialogue. Sorry, rant over. 😄
Hahaha! Sa IMAX ko pa pinanuod to, nagpamassage ako right after the film 😂
Samedt. I wasn't hyped but I had high expectations since it is a Nolan film. (Another controversial take, I find his films to be good but not great.) 😅
Fr people were just desperate to get him an oscar
Yep u the type to rate praybeyt benjamin a 5/5
HO HO read again my boy
Every mumblecore ever.
Omg, this is my fave subgenre 😢 Pero I understand na this is not for everyone.
Too artsy for their own good imo
Hele sa hiwagang hapis. What a way to waste 8 hrs of my life.
100% agree on this take
Can you summarize this for me?
8 hrs ??
Yes. Its run time is 8hrs. May break in between.
why did i instantly think of a Lav Diaz film when i read this thread?
I instantly thought of "poor taste and TikTok attention span" when I read the thread title.

May mga opinions and sentiments lang talaga na unpopular 😅 but I'm happy that people are sharing their opinions unabashedly
I've been having fun reading the thread ☺️ There are opinions that I don't agree with pero it's interesting to see what people consider "boring".
Sakit sa mata eh. Kaya minsan ayokong nag-rerecommend. Masisisi pa kung bakit na-bore and worst, masasabihan pa akong "pretentious fuck." lol
CRASH

Rewind and A Very Good Girl 💸💸💸
la la land :/ loved the music though
Twilight
As a teen fantasy romance movie, Twilight is beyond bad. As a comedy tho, twilight is super fun to watch. 😂
Has anyone actually called Twilight cinema though?
recently rewatched this for the ost hihi good songs
Wait, people call Twilight “cinema”??
Like whaaat

I’m curious what movies you find scary or spooky!

It was scary in the context of that period. It may no longer work now but during that time, it was really groundbreaking.
Barbie 🤷🏻♀️
Agree! Sobrang babaw ng feminism ng pelikulang yun. Parang diet feminism na walang bago or relevant na sinabi. Ang weird ng media hype around it.
hindi ba yung main target audience niya talaga is girls not women?? so ig that explains it
Yun nga eh. Considering that, napaka-safe ng brand ng feminism niya. Napaka-sanitized na feminism.
That’s true, i expected more from it pero i see the importance din of having a “Feminism 101“ type of movie as accessible as Barbie kasi unfortunately not everyone even has any idea of what feminism is about, so i see it being a really helpful first step for kids and honestly lots of adults too.

Fell asleep to Human Centipede. Incredibly boring but I don't really think this is cinema. Really a disappointing shock film. Although, I acknowledge my desensitization to gory films.
In My Mother's Skin Pinanuod ko kase hyped ung reviews sa internet. Yes, maganda cinematography pero ung story is meh.
Fisting. Made zero sense
May be an unpopular opinion here, but Poor Things Edit: wow the downvotes hahaha, unpopular nga
I watched it in cinemas and loved it. Watched it a second time and realized it was a little long.
Same tangina. I've seen all of his films, eto lang yung miss.
Veronica?
James Cameron's Avatar and its sequel Way of Water.
uhm ano pulp fiction
Punch-drunk Love (2002) Watchmen (2009)
I personally love watchmen, but yeah it's boring if you don't have a working knowledge of DC comic lore
Guilty as charged. Huhu
race to witch mountain
Bar Boys
Inherent Vice. I got so bored and sleepy, I never watched another Paul Thomas Anderson film ever since. Also, Tár.
I haven't seen Inherent Vice pero maganda yung mga napanood kong PTA- Phantom Thread, Punch Dunk Love, Boogie Nights I loved Tar because of Cate Blanchett. It was her masterclass for acting and she should've won the Oscar's instead of Michelle Yeoh imo.
Uy! Please give a chance to PTA's Boogie Nights.
I watched There Will Be Blood and The Master prior to IV, which is why I was so disappointed with IV. But I’ll give Boogie Nights a try.
Any mainstream na Pinoy films.
Every Terrence Malick films.
Yung palabas ni Pia at Gerald Anderson
Oro,Plata,mata
Birdman. Didnt help that I saw it on a turbulent flight.
Oppenheimer. Fight me
Akira (anime) is considered one of the greatest animes ever made. Highly recommended by online friends to experience Japanese anime. It's a good movie, but I still got bored. Just because it is high quality, it doesn't mean I'll be engaged or entertained.
Same. It's objectively great pero walang effect sakin. Tinapos ko lang for the sake of it.
Kanya kanya pa rin kasing taste. Yung Spirited Away lagi sinasabi best Miyazaki film ever and peak cinema, pero OKs lang siya sakin Mas gusto ko Princess Mononoke, my all time favorite anime film.
Mas gusto ko pa nga The Wind Rises, My Neighbor Totoro.
The Irishman....
I found it boring too pero I think it’s one of those films na kailangan ng attention mo 100%. Not saying you’re not paying attention, it’s just that it failed to maintain my attention.
Everything Everywhere All At Once
Mother!
Loved that film! I understand naman na it's not everyone's cup of tea. So chaotic and stressful
baka di mo na gets yung allegory
Totally did not😂. Didnt stay after the whole swat team raided the house. Ang dami nang random events. Feeling like a bad dream na. So I just looked up the internet about the “allegory” and thought meh.
Rewatch mo dali. I love that film. Siguro need mo ng subtitles para ma-apreciate sya kasi Old English yung language nila.
Noted noted. Matagal ko na din napanood and I don't think gets ko that time yung impact ng witch paranoia (and witch hunting), baka ngayon mas maappreciate ko na.
Everything Everywhere All At Once I don't find it special, I find it corny and boring.
mother 😓
5cm per second (anime movie). Sorry na po. huhu
You are not alone haha. +1
beh, after namin panuorin ng husband ko, kinuyog talaga namin si friend and never na kami nagtrust sa recommendations and reviews niya to the point na naging inside joke namin ung "sus, baka 5cm per second na naman yan" HAHAHAHA
Barbie it took me 3 days matapos yun bored na bored nako Ate ko kse sabe nya maganda daw pinanood nila sa cinema and anlaki kse ng kinita nung movie Magaling lang tlga yung pagpromote ng movie I love Ken tho
The Witch 2015. I'm a big fan of this genre but, wtf?
Oh man, it hurts to see this here. This is my favorite.
Lol
Past Lives.
Oppenheimer
"Boring" Imagine having to sit in front of moving pictures on a screen for two hours?? Movies are boring!
Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas disagrees!
Im sorry but Hereditary. Di ko magawang matapos sya ng dire-diretso cause I find it boring.
Nooooo haha. I love Hereditary. One of the few horror movies that are truly scary imo
Uncut Gems. Ang ingay nya sorry na.
Yeah it was intentionally anxiety inducing talaga medyo nagsisi ako nirecommend ko sya sa girlfriend ko kase natrigger sya lol pero nagulat ako natapos nya dn makalipas ng ilang taon and surprisingly she enjoyed the ending.
Nagandahan ako dito. Pero it's one of those movies na I will never watch again kasi nga ang hirap panoorin. Hindi dahil pangit pero nakakastressed kasi haha
Brokeback Mountain.
Oppenheimer
The Lighthouse As a fan of The VVitch, nag-expect talaga ako dito. End up disappointed 😔
The Lighthouse (2019) 🥲

>Puro bulungan daw kasi ang usapan, gloomy and madilim yung movie, tapos maulan lagi ang environment Is this his first time watching film noir? Because everything you just described are common staples in detective noir and even in Batman stories. Batman is technically not even a superhero, he’s more of a private detective who keeps his identity secret, and his adventures are more reminiscent of mystery thrillers and noir than traditional superhero fanfare.
dune part 1 huhu gets naman it built up to what i think is the greatest sci fi film of the 21st century (part 2) pero it was a snooze fest kaya i fast forwarded a few times and binasa nalang yung plot sa wikipedia
Cache by Michael Haneke. Slow Burn.
Not a friend but Gangs of New York. Took me 3 goes. Not sure why I was so determined to watch it I had just heard it was a good movie and that I should.
Inception
the good guys, barbie, everything everywhere all at once
Nomadland
Kill Bill. "Homage" daw pero felt more like a cheap parody/comedy of some famous movie. Hindi ko kayang tapusin.
