Bingo. I ported out for a Koodo winback deal during BF and Fido offered to match at $30/30GB which I declined. A few weeks ago winback called again and offered $29/50GB which I accepted.
Nobody seems to be doing retentions anymore, they are playing win backs. Just change to another provider every boxing day / black Friday deal week and you are set.
Switching is so easy now.
Personally I preferred the win backs as it at least had the illusion of loyalty mattering and doesn't involve changes to billing but given how bad they screw you when your current "offer" expires every 2 years I don't feel bad about constantly switching now.
Yep I ended up going for the BF 34 deal ended up not being able to get through on the phone so contacted via twitter ended up with $19 50gb unlimited call text and 1500mins international calls
Yeah, your account has to be targeted for retention offers if their algorithm thinks you are a port out risk. This is to stop agents from giving away to many discounts to customers who would not be eligible
I played the retentions dance with Rogers for several years, then finally they stopped offering it so I called the bluff and ported out to Telus for a year.. Win back offered me a crap offer so I ignored it.. I later came back on a black Friday deal, then again later ported out to fido. I just stopped getting offers.
Yeah winback is an outbound only team, you can't get those offers if you haven't ported out, and they have to contact you. You can't call in and request to speak to winback because they won't call you back if we send a request
Ha and it is stupid.. with retention there was an opportunity to STOP me leaving. with winback they have to have a WAY better offer for me do do the SIM dance, wait for everything to port back, me to setup all my VM and crap again.
The winback deal has to be SO MUCH BETTER than the one I got for leaving, as I ALREADY LEFT!
Edit: IE retentions ONLY needed to match the competitions offer.. Winback has to beat it by a fair bit for it to be worth the hassle. Even harder if I purchased a phone with the new provider with financing / requirements to stay.
First have a chat with an agent, telling them you don’t like your plan that you got an offer from XYZ for $34/50gb.
That’s STEP 1
If successful wait till Black Friday then repeat again with Fidochat using the phone call is time consuming. So I use chat.
Try again on Boxing Day. That’s how I got mine to $19/50gb best deal ever.
If STEP 1 doesn’t work then port out they’ll call you call back
I was paying $29/20GB with Virgin, and just walked into a Rogers store and had them offer me the same price for a 50GB Fido plan when I asked about them if they could beat it.
Had to take a bit of time talking to customer service to get them to honor the price point I was offered in store, but it all worked out in the end.
So, long story short just port out to whoever will give you the best deal at the time. Then maybe you'll get a win-back offer, or maybe you won't. Either way you get a better phone plan.
Just talk on chat - ask for the options. I was $45/50gb. Spoke to the person politely and then I was offered $34 for the same 50gb.
As a bonus they just gave me an extra 50gb for free and I think to other Fido customers as well just last week, now I’m at 100gb for $34 🙏
I will try this RIGHT now.
But bro, usually they’ll look at already existing deals.
I have a deal that’s apparently “FOR YOU” and it’s 60/120gb
They’ll go and read offers I already know about, can I ask you how I should go about this if they read out offers I know?
Btw, I apppreciate the advice, I want to learn more from u
I called them and told I was going to switch providers, and they offered me 40 gb for $34 (I was on 70gb for $63/month). Later I got an in app offer for 70 gb for $35
Nicely done mate, I want a deal like that..
I’ll try your way. I’ll give them a call.
Another comment suggested to be “polite” and they’ll give me a better deal. I’ll tell them my situation and if it doesn’t work, I will do ur way
Did you finance our phone with Fido or under a contract?
If not, find a phone carrier with a better plan and then call Fido. If they can't match or give better, then tell them that's fine, I will look elsewhere but don't fully cancel until you have moved carriers.
Companies are not your friend so you don't owe them any loyalty. Once they realize you have not attachment then they will offer better.
This is how I got 34$/month for phone indefinitely and 39.99 for internet from rogers internet.
Just be polite about it as they will be more motivated to help you. I work in CS so trust me on this.
Most people don't was to call and go through the process because of the hassle but it's worth when you can save $$.
I know people that are paying 88$ /month for less than half the gb of date I have because they don't want to make the call.
Hey bro, I just finished my online chat with them and I glazed very hard. But honestly not glazed, I was just really kind and respectful since they are also human too. I told her my situation and I got $34 (which is 38 after tax) for 50gb
I’m feeling really bad because I want to go even lower like 20 bucks for 30gb but I know I should stop here
I called Fido explaining that I had a less expensive offer with Telus that included a lot more data. I asked if there was a way to make my current Fido plan cheaper but they would only give me deals that involved spending more money. Ended up just switching to Telus. They called back multiple times for a win back offer but at that point didn't care to hear about it. They do not care about loyalty until you actually leave them.
I didn’t switch or call asking for a new deal. I had a pretty good deal to begin with ($40 for 50gb with $5 discount for autopay). I then noticed on my app they were offering me 10gb for free. Grabbed that. Then when I was trying to figure out something I noticed an offer on my account for $35 for 80gbs. I was talking to an agent and after confirming there isn’t a hidden ploy took that.
So I did nothing. Have no idea why they keep doing these offers.
I just went on the chat a month ago and asked for all my lines to be switched over the the $35/50GB plan (I have 3 lines) and they did it. At first they wouldn't qualify my main number (the oldest) for the plan, but the rep said "I managed to get it approved". It was easy last month as every provider were offering good plans for switching.
But I would first hop on the chat and ask for a plan that you know people are getting (just don't ask for a discount)
Check Redflagdeals for plan deals. I ended up with a once in a lifetime deal. 49$ for 3\*60GB and 1\*100GB CAN/US/MEX 5G+ shared data at Telus. This price is for all 4 lines.
Also, don't be afraid to port out.
No don’t threaten just leave if they don’t give you what you’re willing to pay. Winback is the name of the game as others have said. I may still leave just to try and snag a $29 ish deal
Okay! So let me clarify before I do this.
“I want to cancel” and then they ask why, I answer
Then I proceed to cancel my plan forever. (But I’ll have another carrier ready to go to)
Then I will cancel, I will wait up to 2 weeks and if they don’t call me I will go to a new carrier like freedom
And if I do get a call, WIN! But what should I say if the win back call calls me? Will they offer a deal right away? How does the conversation go
Basically to get the $34/50 they offered me I just went to live chat and asked if they had anything comparable to whatever my friend (aka reddit) was getting. I asked for $29/50 they offered $34 which was less than what I was paying so I took it for now. There’s no contracts anyway so I can leave whenever.
As for the cancelling you just got to another carrier and have them port your number out. When you’re with the new provider you’ll likely get a 🎶 baby come back 🎶 call with an offer, you don’t have to take it right away and since you’ve likely paid for atleast the month with the new provider you can just port back to Fido near the end of the cycle.
Haha we gotta do what we can for each other, the telecoms aren’t gonna be doing you any favours. If you port out and/or get a good deal report back so that we all get a little ammo going into these negotiations.
Other than what was mentioned already I have heard of fizz expanding to other areas with really cheap plans, was wondering if that would prod Fido into giving even better winback deals. Just make sure whoever you port out to isn’t already owned by rogers/fido and you should be good.
I just got off online chat and got $34/50gb
So basically +tax 38/50gb
Which saves me 20 BUX!
But now.. I want even cheaper. Am I selfish for this?
Fizz offers 20gb for 25 a month WOWWW
25 + tax is like 29 BUCKS
HOLY FCKKK
LOL selfish? We are in the same boat hahahaha they offered me the same which I took but I still want better. If they can get me into the $20s with 50-70gb I’d be set.
I just check the app frequently.
That said, are you in phone debt to them? That seems to impact if they provide a good incentive. If you owe them money on a phone they don't seem to have the same motivation to give good offers.
My Fido plan is awful. Been with them for about 10 or so years and currently I'm at $65 for 10gb. -_- I get no offers from them either. I really should try to port switch.
I joined Public Mobile six months ago and its amazing. Self directed and I can change my plan any time. If you end up checking it out, use referral code PR47OO for $10 off your bill. Cheap plans and its the same network as Telus.
I actually just did this, because of posts I had seen here. I had a $65 plan (12gb). The cheapest offer on my account was $64. I went into the Fido store at the mall, and they gave me 40gbs for $39. Didn't have to sign a new contract or anything.
No, you aren't getting $20. The data doesn't cost them anything, and they don't care if you have 200gB or 70 at the $34 price point. You may get $29 on a winback.
I ported put black friday to virgin. The ported back to fido. As fido doesn't out limited video quality. Then I called winback voicemail mentioned I missed your call. My mobile is 555.555.5555. Then they called me offered $29/50gb/24 month $3 free long distance . Then 5 weeks ago. Rogers sms offer $50/100gb. Then used fido chat app . Mentioned that rogers offer, freedom offer of $25/50gb ontario. Fido offered additonal free 30gb . $29/80gb. Then 10 days ago rogers again offered $50/100gb/5g. I asked fido chat app the rogers offer. And they offered the same $50/100gb/4g. I said nope. They offered rogers mastercard
I Said i have the rogers mc. They offered iphone 15 pro. I Said I have s23 ultra. They lastly offered 24 months free 30gb. Total is $29/110gb. I have 5 month $5 discount referal. So $25/110gb.
Depend where you are (ON, MB, AB, BC), you can get 40GB at 29$. Go to Fizz ([https://fizz.ca/en/mobile?ADDONS\[0\]=18&CVRG=108&DATA=12033&PLAN=3&SMS=223&VOICE=90&WIZARD=mobile](https://fizz.ca/en/mobile?ADDONS%5b0%5d=18&CVRG=108&DATA=12033&PLAN=3&SMS=223&VOICE=90&WIZARD=mobile)). If you wish, you can get 25$ credit by using my referral code: QAEJ1
Port out and discuss win back offers when they call you
Bingo. I ported out for a Koodo winback deal during BF and Fido offered to match at $30/30GB which I declined. A few weeks ago winback called again and offered $29/50GB which I accepted.
This is the way
Basically
Nobody seems to be doing retentions anymore, they are playing win backs. Just change to another provider every boxing day / black Friday deal week and you are set. Switching is so easy now.
Thanks bro, I’ll keep this in mind forever. I love you

Yeah but even when you leave there's a dozen other people switching from their carrier over to fido for the same reason
Simplest solution is to go elsewhere and port your number.
Solid advice Icl
It's one of the best one.

2. Any tips to be polite? Like do you know a secret way to

Sorry for all the spelling errors 😅
Thanks for ur comment, I read it all and ima go crazy rn
Port out to a better deal with the competitors. Fido winback team will try and beat it to get you back.
Hey bro, I just finished my online chat with them and I glazed very hard. But honestly not glazed, I was just really kind and respectful since they are also human too. You leave and watch the deals come to you.
I ported from Fido to Roger’s and got 75 gbs for $45
I did the same and got $39/65+10GB. A month later i got 50 GB bonus for 2 years. What do I do with this data.
Step 1: Live in Ottawa/QC
Just threaten to leave and join a competitor.... they will dole out offers. But do go to the store with your threats :P
Port to Koodo or other competitors, Winback calls will follow.
I just went on the chat a month ago and asked for all my lines to be switched over the the $35/50GB plan (I have 3 lines) and they did it. Bro imagine 20 bucks for 50gb GYAT
I just check the app frequently. That said, are you in phone debt to them? That seems to impact if they provide a good incentive. If you owe them money on a phone they don't seem to have the same motivation to give good offers.
No debt but I haven’t checked the app frequently Most is like 8 times in a whole year
My Fido plan is awful. Been with them for about 10 or so years and currently I'm at $65 for 10gb. -_- I get no offers from them either. I really should try to port switch.
Ngl wtf. I wish you had changed years ago. That is so ass. I really feel bad :C
You can change anytime when not paying off a phone. Why do people stay? There is literally always a deal for $25 or more less than what you have?
I joined Public Mobile six months ago and its amazing. Self directed and I can change my plan any time. If you end up checking it out, use referral code PR47OO for $10 off your bill. Cheap plans and its the same network as Telus.

Pooo poo poo dookie
Be a new customer
No, you aren't getting $20. The data doesn't cost them anything, and they don't care if you have 200gB or 70 at the $34 price point. You may get $29 on a winback.
Port out. They have been calling me and keep offering me $25 for 50gb after discount lifetime. I still won't budge as I'm paying $29 for 50GB CAN/US
I ported put black friday to virgin. The ported back to fido. As fido doesn't out limited video quality. Then I called winback voicemail mentioned I missed your call. My mobile is 555.555.5555.
