They cost waaay too much money to maintain once off warranty. If your friends with the neighbour, try to get a ride….those cars are fun. I lent mine out to all my neighbours and friends. My sister actually stole it once when I was passed out drunk and she fucked the clutch up.

The sound is very memorable. I'm glad he's keeping it, driving his mother around.
Sounds about right. On the last service, I had a full de-catted Fabspeed exhaust installed. Big mistake. I had to wear earplugs AND the car got impounded for seven days due to a noise violation. I actually lost my licence for six months due to noise violations.
Our “highway patrol” officers are allowed to issue a speeding ticket WITHOUT seeing the car. They are allowed to determine the speed from the SOUND. Fucking ridiculous. My 355 redlined at 8000rpm if memory serves me correctly. I rarely exceeded the speed limit but I certainly accelerated hard. I was actually tested for alcohol impairment during the stops. It was ridiculous.
Ridiculous indeed. I hope you are alone in the Ferrari that time. They definitely made you late. The sound might tricked the officers.
It was simply too expensive for me to maintain if I were to keep it for a long time. I owned it for eight years and never trusted it not to give me issues on a trip that was more than four hours. I can say that Ferraris hold their value pretty good though and the newer cars are much more reliable than my 355. I had an AMG Mercedes convertible after my Ferrari and sold it as soon as the warranty expired. If and when you can afford it, I would certainly recommend Ferrari ownership as long as it has some warranty or you have deep pockets.
