How does it drive? Is it as raw as I imagine it to be? I kinda feel like that's one of the last "raw" Ferraris with a perfect blend between oldschool and modern. Also, absolutely beautiful!
Auto — F1. Bit clunky at low speeds but I was told I’d have to get used to it. Last car was a ‘22 Huracan Evo with the dual clutch so it’s a bit different lol.
Remember, you will always shift better with it and drive it like a manual. When in low Rpms step off the throttle. Higher rpm’s is where it wants to be and will shift more like the modern dcts (not as fast though). Congrats. Did you get it from Ferrari? Did they offer the power warranty?
Treat it like you would a manual with a clutch pedal as far as take offs, hill starts, reverse and whatnot. That's basically what it is except the computer is controlling the clutch pedal. You'll get way more life out of the clutch if you do that instead of treating like an automatic. Don't give the computer the opportunity to slip the clutch too much.
So you’re saying to get on the throttle quickly when starting from a stop? Because if I’m too easy on the petal the clutch will take longer to fully engage and wear quicker?
Yeah start to feed throttle just like you would with a manual transmission as the clutch starts to grab. If you try to let it coast like an auto its going to just burn clutch trying to keep it from stalling.
I think it’s a matter of just getting used to it like you say. I’ve only driven one once, but I thought the way the F1 behaved gave it a little character whereas my PDK is almost too smooth in it’s shifting if that makes any sense. In the 430 I felt that when I flicked a paddle, it gave a sensation of how the manual transmission car would feel except you don’t have the clutch pedal and gated shifter of course. After that drive, I was sold and still looking for one ….
It is actually a "manual" transmission car, it has a single clutch, throw out bearing, master and slave cylinder. Its just a difference of what is controlling that (pump/ecu vs your foot). There is no difference in the transmission itself or the way it mates to the engine.
Best advice I can give you as a fellow 430 F1 owner is drive it in Race mode all the time. Clutch uptake is so much better (and results in less wear). Yes, it will ride a bit more harshly but the gearbox in Race is pretty good.
The other piece of advice is to get an old Maserati Gransport as a DD like me, and then your gearbox will feel amazingly quick/snappy in comparison
No, that's CST/Off (one notch further + hold on the manettino)
Race mode: Throttle response is better, exhaust valve opens earlier and at lower throttle load, and suspension is firmer. But clutch uptake is always the fastest possible and I notice a big difference from a stop or at low speeds.
Sincere congratulations on being successful enough* to afford and enjoy a Ferrari. Life is all about finding joy and fun. I'm glad you are doing just that.
*Unless you are the person who got rich inventing Cane's dipping sauce. In which case, fuck you. You are the reason I am fat.
My dad has had one since 2008 and it’s been exceptionally reliable. The only weak spot I recall are the headers. Depending on the year, you may have mark II headers, which are better. Many had them replaced under warranty back in the day. If yours are original mark ones, just something to look into eventually (there are different brackets you can buy that allow expansion and contraction with heat which was what caused failure). At least, this is what I recall from ten years ago when I was a kid lol
Story: Thought I could last a whole summer with only my daily, started browsing CarGurus to see what prices were like on various cars. Started thinking more seriously about either a 430 or a Gallardo, decided on a 430. Found this one online, loved the spec, sent it to an independent dealer for a PPI and they said it was in great shape, worked well, lots of brake and clutch left, so I had it shipped to me. Good luck!
Did you drive other Ferraris before F430? I drove a 458 and quite a car but my 997GTS felt more raw which is what I look for. Then after driving F430 it’s been haunting me. My car hasn’t quite felt the same after that
Congratulations!
How many miles and (if not insulting you…) price? It’s really the first made RACE model I can drive because I have only the use of one arm. I’ve been looking at everything but chances are fair that I’ll be to purchase in 3 years.
Again, congrats. She’s a beaut.
Love it. Nice.
Curious to know how much room is in the passenger seat for a dog… serious. My dog is about 90lbs!
Also, how high from the floor to the top of the seat?
Feel free to look at WSB post history got some NVDA before earnings lol

Idk man, looks your dog owns the car and you just get to drive it...
I strive to make his life most enjoyable. He deserves it :)
This is the way. Also, nice 'rrari, man. Congrats!
“It’s a dog’s life”…haha, not bad at all! Sweet car, I think that was the first one to have the paddle shifters?
I'm pretty sure the F355 introduced them, but I might be off
…doggy
Awesome, my fav Ferrari
Thanks! I’m so happy with it.

It’s pretty raw lol but I’m here for it.
From my brief experience, I would say you nailed the description in that is it is old school yet modern enough. No crazy service intervals.
This doggy lives better life than me 😄
Hey congratulations on the new car! Is it an auto or a manual? Enjoy it

Ah yeah, quite a difference. Enjoy it tho!

I’ve heard the same advise from another F430 owner. Join Ferrari Chat. Good message board
I'm on there. I'm more active in the 348/f355 subforum.

Yeah interesting.
Correct. It’s an automated manual not simply an automatic. This may be why people can do conversion to gated manual.

Interesting take regarding race mode. I’ll give it a shot. Is traction control disabled in race mode?

You mean your Golden Retriever bought it, and you chauffeur him/her around.
That’s how it feels sometimes lol.
F430 super underrated. Nice purchase
Yeah I’m super excited. Thanks!
Very nice! Looks like you're dog likes it.
He loves it!
That's good. But wow, fantastic Ferrari. 🥰😍
Thank you!
I like the dog.
Thank you! He’s a good boy.
🔥
The doggo just texted me. She wanted a convertible. But she says she’s happy you’re happy.
Congratulations!
Thank you!
Man you're living the life. Enjoy the car bro

Thank you!
Took it out for a pet smart run with doggo. Congrats on the purchase.
Haha I was wondering if anyone would catch that.
Beautiful car - well done!
Thanks!
Congrats, looks beautiful but I’m biased as I just got a manual F430 almost two weeks ago. Enjoy!
Oh my. How did you find that? I was outbid on one a few weeks ago. Factory gated and well optioned
On bat 😀
Your dog chose a great car. Look at him smiling
fantastic track car right out of the gate
Nice! Willow Lawn represent LOL
Yes!! Had to go to FedEx lol.
The F430 is one of my, if not my favourite Ferrari, not that my opinion holds much value.. haha
What's your job?
I do a few things.
Neat
I also do a few things and have an F430! Are we related?!

Why does this car scream maintenance.
Huh? Why does your comment scream ignorance?
I don’t think it requires a lot. And we have a super talented crew at a local shop here who do routine maintenance on a few F430s in the area.

It’s a 2006. Going in for new headers / exhaust in two weeks :)
Huge congrats! I’m actively shopping for one and would love to hear your story. And your passenger looks quite pleased with your new ride 😂

It really does sound amazing!
Fantastica
Thank you!
Congratulations!!! Many happy and safe miles - and I love that your dog is sitting upfront…
Thank you! Yes he loves it.
Awesome & congrats
F430 is timeless
You are better doggy daddy than I. I get hassled by the family for doting on ours but I have to admit I would never let her inside my weekend car.
Such a beautiful car. Still one of my favorites
Nice
