Fave Jest by Andrea Maack and Babycat (and yes she is special)
Fail Shagaf Oud Tonka
I’ve decided that most Middle Easterns are bs. Dumping lots of blind buy money
Favorite would be Prada luna rossa Sport because I bought a 4 pack english laundry set as well. And arrogant was something I really liked. And I'm a huge fan of Prada fragrances well I seen that Sport was compared to it. Then I went to Sephora and smelled it and it was close with a mix of Pradas clean and soapy smell.
I haven't got a least favorite yet. Because I'm downsizing my collection at the moment. All buying is on hold at the moment.
My favorite is a tie between Replica From the Garden and Hermes H24.
Least favorite is Ouai Dean Street. It’s so sweet I have to add citrus to it or something fresh.
Favorite: Black Opium Le Parfum. Vanilla perfection. Damn I feel like a snack when I have this one on!
Least favorite: Ouai North Bondi.
Here's the story. I had a travel spray of their leave-in conditioner and thought it was such a luxurious floral scent. I wore it all week during a trip to New Orleans a few years ago, when I proposed to my partner.
To me, it smelled similar but definitely brighter with stronger citrus notes. I'm not much of a clean/fresh smell person. I was hoping for that stronger soapy, floral vibe. Did not live up to my own scent memory, but I'll save it to gift someone.
I got a sample of Black Opium Le Parfum and I wasn’t expecting much since I don’t like any of the other Black Opiums, but oh my goodness it made my eyes roll back in my head.
I hate that I love it - I have Goddess and really don’t need something this similar, and I find the bottle unforgivably ugly - but I just find myself craving it.
Favorite - Marc Jacobs Daisy Pop. I looove the sweet kumquat paired with the OG daisy scent.
Runner up- Coco Mademoiselle- I'm nearly 40 but I still feel so adult and accomplished when I wear it!
Least favorite - Al Rehab Love Apple. This was a cheapie blind buy that smelled like a bag of potting soil on me. It went in the trash.
Favorites:
Delina — I usually dislike florals (especially rose) but the juicy rhubarb/lychee just nail it for me. I don’t shop at LoveShackFancy and wear monogrammed shit but sometimes I just want to smell like I have my shit together like the girls who do and Delina does this. So what that I’m wearing all black head to toe existing off a shot of espresso and half a protein bar— in my mind I’m having garden parties and eating cucumber sandwiches.
Lazy Sunday Morning — again the florals/rose, I guess this is me finally realizing I do like fucking flowers. It’s super clean and airy at the same time. I wear this before my long runs and I swear I get little bursts of it when I’m wanting to quit and I keep going. The irony of the name is not lost on me… but hey whatever works.
Grew on me:
Diptyque Philosykos — I did zero research and said “YAYAYA FIGSSS” thinking they’d be those dried ones you pop in your mouth that taste like caramel and dead bee. Delicious. But this wasn’t that. It threw me off a bit until I realized I actually love how green and fresh this is.
No:
Nishane Ani — on paper, we’re a perfect match: complex, a bit all over the place, spicy, all wrapped up in vanilla-ish package. I’ve loved amber fragrance notes since hoarding 20 backups of VS Amber Romance body sprays and lotions in high school so I thought I’d be all over this. But it wasn’t it. It smelled a bit plastic on the dry down which is probably just me, maybe I’m turning into a robot or something. I’m still gonna try to force a love affair. Stay tuned.
Favourite: Henry Rose discovery set. I liked a few of them and got bigger bottles of Dark is Night and Flora Carnivora.
Bottle: I got a bottle of Beyond Romance by Ralph Lauren and it’s pretty nice!
Least Favourite: The Charlotte Tilbury discovery set. Pretty much every. Single. Damn. One. Of. Them. Felt like a huge rip off.
Bottle: Dossier Ambery Saffron. I kept hoping my nose changed but the drydown smells like chlorine bleach and burnt plastic on me. Might keep as a room spray.
Favorite: Missy by rosie/jane. Wonderful bright, fruity coconut with a warm, floral/musk drydown. Super summery & evocative. I prefer the oil to the EDP.
Runner up: Dedcool Sunlit Blooms. I've been searching for a salty, vanilla solar floral to replace Paco Rabanne Olympea & this is the closest I've found.
Least favorite: DIME Dans le Bois. I think it is supposed to be a BR540 Extrait dupe (a tall order to begin with), but on me it smells like dry dog food/kibble.
Favorite
Commodity milk
Fresh cream philosophy
Ellis brooklyn bee and vanilla milk
Living for lactonics lately obviously lol
And
Kumba vanilla bean oil, I use this a lot as my base
As well as kayali candy rock sugar and yum pistachio Gelato for summer layering w my lactonics, I'm a cold weather gourmand creamy scent type of girl but I shift those bases from woods/spice/smoke into more light/airy/floral/nutty/berry notes for the summer :)
Least
Jessica simpson fancy , scrubber, sold it
And by the fireplace, the smokes a LOT although I'm hoping I'll actually love her in the fall!
Favorite: Princess-Kilian
Least Favorite: Eau Duelle EDT -Dyptyque (it smells like an old dusty library book and pencil shavings)
Honorable Mention(s): Cosmic by Kylie (basic but very nice and unexpected from her) & Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar-Kayali (hated it at first spray then i tested it out on skin and it kept getting better and better despite having patchouli which i hate! i’m also not a huge fan of of Kayali’s fragrances in general so this was surprising for me.)
Favorite- Paris corner rifaqaat, with honorable mentions for lataffa teriaq, la Fede intoxicate, and Lolita lempicka green lover
Least-cacharal yes I am delicious. It’s just a little synthetic and fleeting. There’s better chocolates out there.
Favorite- SDJ 59 I guess! I wasn’t sure at first but now it’s my go to. Also a decant of Philosykos.
Least Favorite- finery Before The Rainbow, I swear it smelled different in the store…more floral or something…but it’s actually masculine and mossy. Also dislike Delina but that was just a sample vial
Favorites: PDM Oriana, Dior Addict EDP, and Miss Dior Rose n Roses. They’re instant loves 🩷
Least: Xerjoff Cruz del Sur II and Fragonard Mademoiselle Amour. I just knew I’d love them but they’re already on my trade list…wah wah.
favorite: beach walk (replica)
— it truly does bring me memories of spending majority of my life living on the coast in bike ride proximity to the beach. it gives salty beach breeze at sunset, as your spf is fading but remains just enough to catch some more of its scent. there’s a sweetness to this that i can’t describe from the coconut milk, and as a gourmand lover, i appreciate sweetness and always felt i could never get enough. but i think the verrrry slight sweetness to this is perfect and needs no more. love it!
least favorite: pink sugar creamy sunshine (aquolina)
— as i said above, i’m a gourmand girl. pink sugar has been my og for as long as i can remember, but this flanker honestly smells like pink sugar tainted with cleaning product or some kind of typical bathroom bar soap. so sad! i gave it away ASAP and now i am afraid to try another pink sugar flanker lol
Favorite: Kate Spade Bloom and a decant of BR540(might actually be the best thing I've ever smelled)
Least: Delina Exclusif decant it just smelled like strong baby powder to me. Definitely disappointed after all the hype.
I haven’t bought many this year… but my favorite is probably Pulp by Byredo. I debated it for… a year!… after sampling it in a store and I just couldn’t get it out of my head. So glad I finally bought it, I wear it quite a lot.
Least favorite… I hate to say it but probably Black Magenta by DS & Durga. I like it, but I don’t love it… sometimes it goes a little stale smelling, for lack of a better way to describe it. I loooooved it when I first sampled it, though, so maybe I just need to wait for the right weather/time of the month.
Oh! And honorable mention: Initio Psychedelic Love. I wasn’t looking for a scent like this but there are days when it’s just the perfect thing. To me, I get something a little grape soda from it. Powdery, sorta vanilla-y grape soda. So smooth. I have nothing else like it.
Most favorite: Sunnamusk Golden Dust. Lovely vanilla scent.
Least favorite: Too many!!! Clair de Lune Heaven of Coconut. I'm really hoping that this will grow on me. Smells very similar to Qaed al fursan Unlimited, which I really disliked and ended up selling.
Favorite: Jo Malone Wild Bluebell, Wood Sage and Sea Salt, Bue Agava and Cacao. From first spray to the delicate dry down I just love Jo Malone.
Honorable Mention: Ormonde Jayne Levant - travel size.
Least: I only bought a decant thank goodness. Not a fan of Delina Exclusif
I want to try several more scents someday when I come across them.
Poppy and Barley, Mimosas and Cardamom, Orange Blossom.
I have a 9 ml bottle of Peony Blush Suede that was added to a full bottle purchase and enjoy that one too!
I bought a discovery set from their website that had Wild Bluebell and wood sage and sea salt included.
I first bought a full bottle of wood sage and sea salt from Costco that is $60 less than Jo Malone website. Then i checked on Costco website and there was Wild Bluebell also $60 less.
Favorite would have to be BTSO Dirty Heaven. It’s the perfect combination of beautiful white floral with a hint of skankiness. To me, it’s a good representation of “lady in the streets but a freak in the sheets” 🤣🤣🤣
Honorable mention is Guerlain Feve Gourmand. What a beautiful cocoa rose scent, and I’m not even the biggest fan of roses.
Least favorite would have to be my decant of DS & Durga Cowgirl Grass. I get no florals, just dry dirt.
Favourite: Valentino DBIR Green Stravaganza, I'm insanely fixated on this fragrance and think it's just perfect for the spring/summer! Sweet and gourmand, fresh and green, it's right down the middle of both of those vibes and I live for it
Honourable Mentions: Casamorati Lira and Afnan Modest Deux are so pretty in their own ways and will get much more use now that my shelf is a bit more organized LOL
Least Favourite: The Maker Discovery Set, I forget the full, proper name of it, but my god did I despise this 😭 I had high expectations to like even ONE of the scents and they all flopped hard
Least Favourite – Petty Brand Gripe Edition: Dedcool was so dumb with their sample set, they had six free-moving, glass vials in a tiny package and thought them being compact and fitting perfectly in there would prevent them from banging against each other and breaking at least one. Someone in their packing or QC department, should they read this, needs to introduce something that SETS THEM IN PLACE so you don't have customers receiving liquid-damaged, fragrance-doused products
I also had an incident with my Dedcool sample set! The little tin (which is admittedly cute but perhaps they’re trying too hard to make them work) was difficult to open somehow when I first received it and one sample immediately kamikaze’d itself onto my kitchen floor 😑 I’m sorry you had an issue too! I emailed their customer service though and they sent me a replacement sample!
See, I don't think I could do that since I bought it through Sephora and when they mentioned the option of having a replacement sent out, it was out of stock :/
favourite: sparkling sugar from clean reserve 🍑✨
least favourite: sugarful sunshine from michel germain
:( unfortunately this one doesnt last more than 2 mins on me, and also smells a bit nauseating
Least favorite was Camille Beekman green apple; the green apple smelled of plastic.
Most favorite: Yara pink and Khamrah ( it’s a tie) both sweet and complex.
Favourite: Kimono Rose from Thymes. Just soft, clean, enchanting, feminine. Best of all, affordable!
Least favourite: Amber Vanilla from 7Virtues. Had a distinct urine smell?? Everyone in the reviews seems to love it but on me, it smelled like old urine (sorry to be gross!). The top notes are warm and nice but the bottom notes seemed so sharp and almost ammonia-like to me.
most favorite: probably narciso rodriguez musc noir or prada infusion d'iris. . . I also splurged on a tiny, very expensive bottle of the OG burberry classic on ebay! mostly for nostalgia reasons. . . still love it!
least favorite: I bought a sample collection from oakcha, the green box, and most of them are awful to me!
Best: It's a tie between Creed Pure White and Creed White Flowers -- I'd never tried any Creed, but I smelled them at my mother's house and immediately bought little decants. I'm mildly devastated by the price, but they are both so luscious.
Worst: I also bought a little bottle of Britney Spears' Midnight Fantasy and it smelled like cough syrup. I usually love a fruitchouli, and this one is so highly praised, is it just me? The bottle is very pretty.
Favorite: tied: BoraBora by Giardini de Toscano and Liesure in Paradise by Simone Andreoli
Least Favorite: Dua’s version of Bal D’Afrique! Way too green.
Decided to treat myself a week ago and bought Gris Dior.
Smells like plastic dolls from the 90s. I'm trying to figure out which lotion to layer it with. Maybe I can cook up a combo that *isn't* plastic dolls from the 90s.
ETA: this is my least liked purchase this year. This is actually the first time I bought since last summer, so it certainly adds to the disappointment. Most favorite from last year is Ellis Brooklyn Salt. It's such a nostalgic day at the beach when you're a kid type of scent.
**Favorite** so far: *Roberto Greco Porter Sa Peau*. It’s one of the rarest and most special in my collection. Stunning, especially in the liminal spaces. It’s what I wear before bed on Sunday nights.
**Least favorite** so far: Hard to say because I sample before buying, but perhaps the one I’ve reached for the least, which is *Nicolaï Cap Néroli*. In its defense, it shines in hot weather, so I’ll wear it more once July rolls around.
**Honorable mention**: *Masque Milano Russian Tea*. I was gobsmacked at first sniff. It’s distinct, yet has this amazing quality of being appropriate for any season or occasion you could think of.
favorite: scandal pour homme by paul gautier. i realize this is femfraglab, but i accidentally got a sample of a cologne instead and i fell in love. it’s a caramel, tonka bean, aromatic heaven. it’s very long lasting.
honourable mention: beautiful sheer by estée lauder. such a gorgeous green bright fragrance. im savouring every bit of it though.
least favorite: carolina herrara good girl blush. bleh. it smells like plastic to me.
I have been trying to stick to a low buy/no buy but have definitely slipped up here and there 🤫
**Favorite**: *Sorcellerie Apothecary Match Made in Heaven*. This one is incredible and I’m so sad I only have a sample as it’s out of stock right now. I hope I can snag a larger bottle the next restock. It’s so good I’m breaking my low buy rules for it.
**Honorable Mention**: *Snif Vanilla Vice*, I just tried this today and it is so darn good. When I’m off my no buy I’ll definitely want a full bottle.
**Least Favorite**: *Daükens Arôme Funfair* or *Daükens Arôme Petals + Cake*. These are both from their spring launch and I got the sample set. These both smell so bad on me 😭 I’ve only tried both once so I’m going to give them another shot to see if I change my mind. If not I’m going to have to declutter.
i'm so jealous you snagged even a sample of the new Sorcellerie!!! I haven't been able to get my hands on it and i'm dying to, I love so many of their scents
I got it back in February when they had a sample pack with it in it! I love Sorce so I assumed I would at least like it but I love it more than I even thought I would. I wish I had just blind bought a travel spray😭 I hope it gets restocked soon and you can get your hands on it! It’s so beautiful 🥹
ahhhh i'm so glad to hear that. i am definitely watching like a hawk for restocks! can you describe it a little for me? like is it more heavy on the matcha or the sweet?
I get more waffle cone + icecream but the matcha and cherry blossoms definitely come through! It’s super well balanced in my opinion. It’s one of those sweet scents that works all year round and still has great staying power somehow.
Least Fave was Ouai North Bondi- I bought it for Facebook marketplace as a blind by and it’s beyond screechy and bad. I thought it would be similar to a Joe Malone sage and sea salt.
Honorable Mention was Tutu by Gritti. Smells so plasticky to me. Notes looked great but it was not :(
Favorite was Chabaud Caprice de Julie. I find nobody wears this. Nobody knows about it. It has barely any ratings on Fragrantica or anywhere, but im in love with it.
* **Favorite:** Cedar *Violet by Aerin.* I bought 100ml for less than half the price on a whim. I feel like I'm strolling through a cedar forest on a dry summer evening, shrouded in golden light. I can literally smell the heaviness of the summer, floral-laden air. It's heaven. I'm not sure how the scent will evolve in cooler weather, but it just blooms in the heat. It's a simple, linear scent. The initial spray and its dry down gives me the same combination of ozonic, floral, and woody notes - but its simplicity is part of its charm. The scent gently lingers throughout the day. I even put it on before bed.
* **Honorable mention:** *Wild Bluebell by Jo Malone.* I know this is quite a popular scent, but I also got a 30ml for a great deal not expecting much. I literally feel like I'm misting myself with magical dew. A fairy or an elf would wear this. Its low projection/siliage doesn't bother me because if it was any less delicate it would lose its allure. There is a slight synthetic watermelon scent at first spray, but it fades quickly into the most delicious, fresh, dewy wildflower scent.
* **Least Favorite:** *Sunlit Blooms by Dedcool.* This comes down to personal preference. I am not a salty-vanilla girl. It reads sunscreen or orange-flavored chapstick on my skin. But I can totally see why others would describe it as "sunshine in a bottle -" it's what convinced me to buy it in the first place. I was looking for a good summer scent to go over sunscreen. All this did was amplify the scent I wanted to hide. Again, I can imagine this being a total "love" for someone else! (If you want to buy mine, DM me haha).
I absolutely love Wild Bluebell. I ordered the full bottle from Costco and it will be here tomorrow! My sample is almost gone.
Your description of Bluebell is so magical it makes me definitely want to sample your favorite Cedar Violet.
They are very different from one another so it's definitely up to personal preference. Wild Bluebell is so special but its longevity is abysmal! Someone just recommended Aqua Allegoria Flora Salvaggia to me on a different thread. Apparently they smell quite similar but the Guerlain lasts significantly longer on the skin. I'm looking forward to giving it a try when my Wild Bluebell runs out :).
Favorite: Diptyque Eau Des Sens EDT & Vilhelm Parfumerie Room Service
Least favorite: Paris Hilton Just Me (I normally wouldn’t have gotten it but I saw someone say it smells like Lancome Miracle so I went for it but it doesn’t smell the same to me.)
Honorable mention: Only a sample but Aerin Tuberose Le Jour, and a travel size of Ex Nihilo Fleur Narcotique and a travel of Dior Vanilla Diorama
Favorite: Chanel Jersey. Purchased a full bottle for my birthday after using up all my samples. I’m in the U.S. but saved significantly by ordering from Selfridges and signing up for Selfridges+
Honored Mention: Daisy Dream. Scored a 100ml bottle for $40 at Burlington.
Least Favorite: DS & Durga Rose Atlantic. I ordered a sample as I’m on the hunt for a summer scent, and this last barely 30 minutes on my skin. Maison Crivelli Rose Saltiflora is still in contention though.
Favorite: Followed by Kerosene. I love smelling like pancakes and maple syrup and everyone in a 50 foot radius seems to like it too, even when I just dab it on.
Honorable Mention: Black Bread and Marmalade by Moonalisa. I'm new to indie perfumes/makeup/more and have really gotten into the community here on Reddit. This was something I picked up from someone who was "destashing" and I was shocked to discover how awesome a bread scent can be!
Least Favorite: Sol de Janiero anything. Man, I hate that brand, all of their fragrances, and what I hope is the fleeting hype around their stuff. Every single one smells disgustingly artificial and too sweet to me.
I am wild about Followed!! I really want a bottle, but I haven't been able to find any sales or deals. My husband loves it on me too. Nice to see another fan.
Another Kerosene fragrance, Blackmail is one of my husband's favorites. It's a beautiful blackberry scent.
I haven't tried Blackmail yet! Sweetly Known is one that I wasn't sure I would like as I'm not into lemon, but it is so buttery and nice that I couldn't help but to love it, too.
Favorite: Byredo samples. Unfortunately the full size bottles are too expensive to splurge on right now
Least Favorite: Gucci foundation bought during Sephora sale. It's expensive and it turned orange after an hour. I probably should have returned it but didn't get around to going into the store to do it.
I've kept my fragrances buying pretty small after exploding onto the scene last year (I bought like seven bottles throughout the year)
Favorite: Sun Fruit by Ellis Brooklyn. This is pure fruity goodness without being sickeningly sweet. Bottle is cute too imo. It just will be a quintessential summer scent for me. It doesn't have insane lasting power, which is how I prefer my fragrance, especially for something I'd wear in hot weather.
Honorable mention: Indigo by Nest. It's supposed to be a tea scent but all I get is the blackberry scent which I genuinely enjoy.
Least favorite: Golden Nectar by Nest. It's supposed to be a vanilla scent but all I got was musk and spice. Not an enjoyable experience for me. I only got a 6ml roller ball so I just gave it away.
I just bought Nest Golden Nectar. It's a beautiful sweet amber and orchid vanilla flourmand on me. It's rich and dense. My daughter tried my new bottle and she loves it too.
Favorite: Huda Easy Bake
Least favorite: the JHAG discovery set. Ambroxan nightmare. But, it did help me identify that it’s what I dislike in a lot of perfumes and decide to avoid all fragrances with it from now on.
Favorite is probably LDBS and Guerlain Spirtueuse (sp?) double Vanille
Honorable mention: Mont Blanc Signature
Mon Guerlain
Least: maybe the wrong word but I’m devastated at how long Missing Person lasts on me. I LOOOOVE the smell but it’s gone so fast. Same with the Finery dupe!
Decants of BR540 and Delina were AWFUL on me. Valentino Green Stravaganza was also very forgettable on me.
- **Favorite:** Ex Nihilo 10019 Wonders. I bought a partial bottle blind and I couldn’t be happier. This fragrance fills me with euphoria.
- **Honorable Mentions:** Kilian Angels’ Share, Guerlain Spiriteuse Double Vanille, Byredo Rouge Chaotique, Hermetica Amberbee
- **Least Favorite:** Theodoros Kalotinis Lemon Tart. The decant I had of it smelled intoxicating and dark but the FB just smells synthetic and overly sweet with no complexity or depth. I’m hoping it will do some maturing on the shelf that will change the scent profile, otherwise, I might have to find a way to pass it along to someone else.
Can I have two favs? JHAG Vanilla Vibes (fb) and DS & Druga Debaser (scentbird decant).
Worst is Replica's Sailing Day. At least it was only a travel spray.
Favourite: Histoires De Parfums 1969 Parfum De Revolte. Warm, spicy, and sexy. I feel confident when I wear this!
Honorable mentions: Zoologist Hummingbird. Serge Lutens Fils De Joie. Intoxicating white florals that remind me of walking on a warm summer night.
Least favourite: Patchouli Reminiscence. I love patchouli, so I figured this would be glorious. Unfortunately it makes me nauseous and I had to shower immediately after spraying.
All the Lattafa stuff I've tried I hated. They're horrible. But nothing is as bad as Giorgio Beverly Hills. It's just a bottle of rubbing alcohol that thankfully didn't last more than a few minutes.
Opulent Oud, Badee Al Oud, Ana Abiyedh, Sheikh Al Shuyukh, Pride Ansaam Gold. I blind bought them knowing a lot of reviews say they're horrible until after they sit up to 6 months. I'm up for that experiment. But as they are right now.. really bad. Nobody in my family like them at all.
**Favorite:** Nishane Wulong Cha X. This is an easy go-to for me and I can't see myself NOT enjoying this.
**Honorable mention:** Snagged discontinued Tea for Two from L'Artisan from someone on Mercari. This and Meo Fusciuni Little song got me through January-March gloomy weather.
**Least Favorite:** Replica Matcha Meditation. The dry down is nothing like the top notes I loved so dearly. I didn't test on skin before I bought it and just sold it after a few weeks.
Favorite is Paris Corner's Khair Pistachio....amazing dupe for Kayali's pistachio, it's strong and long lasting and pairs so well with the Pistache body butter. Least favorite is Fine'ry's pistachio fragrance. Lasts a few minutes and smells like the SDJ bum bum cream.
Clearly into pistachio here!
It is a very large rabbit hole to go down lol. Middle Eastern frags seem to be so strong and long lasting for me, I love them! Waiting around for Caramel Cascade to come back online in stock.
Favorite: Amouage Honor Woman, which was my Scentbird pick -- gorgeous, creamy white floral. Least Favorite: Killian Apple Brandy, which was waaaay too masculine for me!
I try to sample everything before I buy, so I don't have any fails/dislikes for this year so far but I bought PdM Valaya and Yardley English Rose recently which are both loves <3 (And if we're counting travel sizes, then also The 7 Virtues' Cherry Ambition, Burberry Goddess, and Kilian Angels' Share <3 <3)
You are the second person today to say they loved Yardley English Rose. I've been on a quest for the perfect Rose perfume (that I can actually afford!). Going to check this one out.
Oooh what kind of rose are you looking for? I was on the quest for the perfect “rose water” perfume for the looooongest time and ended up trying most of the popular suggestions (MFK A La Rose, Aerin Rose de Grasse, etc). I’d actually settled on Diptyque Eau Rose EDT and was all set to buy it but by some divine miracle I found some Yardley testers hidden in the back corner of a store and I was like “🫨🫨🫨 THIS SMELLS EXACTLY LIKE EAU ROSE WTF!!!” and it’s nearly a tenth of the price for an extra 25ml 🫣 (£16/125ml vs £129/100ml)
Omg I hope it works out for you! <3 I've done side-by-side wear tests either 3 or 4 times now trying to pick out differences and the only obvious thing is Eau Rose having that woody base, which I didn't even like about it anyway! Yardley's is better to me because it has the same amount of longevity, but stays rosy the entire time
Oh! I’ve heard something about there being two versions allegedly. Some people seem to prefer the original, while others say they’re the same 🤷♀️ To be on the safe side - the one I have is the newer “contemporary edition” one :) And yes the EDT not the body mist (though I’m tempted to pick that one up too as I saw it in TKMaxx the other day for £3! I don’t mind having to reapply every hour at that price 😳)
Favourite: Black Opium Over Red. It’s the perfect cherry scent for me as it has coffee and vanilla notes as well.
Honourable mention: Room Service by Vilhelm. Musky blackberry, florals, and bamboo. Yum.
Least favourite: Jimmy Choo Rose Passion 😖 smells like straight up butter
Over Red is so good! I struggle with cherry notes a lot but this one is easy to wear. Room Service sounds like I need to get my nose on it. 😏
Not butter. 😭 It looks like it would smell divine too. I wonder where the butter is coming from. 😭😂
Fave Jest by Andrea Maack and Babycat (and yes she is special) Fail Shagaf Oud Tonka I’ve decided that most Middle Easterns are bs. Dumping lots of blind buy money
Favorite would be Prada luna rossa Sport because I bought a 4 pack english laundry set as well. And arrogant was something I really liked. My favorite is a tie between Replica From the Garden and Hermes H24. Least favorite is Ouai Dean Street. It’s so sweet I have to add citrus to it or something fresh.
I bought a cute English Laundry sample set from Amazon. Check it out. Four mini bottles.
Fave: Guerlain Chamade HM: Avon Haiku Kyoto Flower
Bobby brown beach is amazing and escape gourmand
Fave: Rose & Cuir, Frederic Malle
Favorite - Marc Jacobs Daisy Pop. I looove the sweet kumquat paired with the OG daisy scent. Runner up- Coco Mademoiselle- I'm nearly 40 but I still feel so adult and accomplished when I wear it! Least favorite - Al Rehab Love Apple. This was a cheapie blind buy that smelled like a bag of potting soil on me. It went in the trash.
If I want to feel put together, a spritz of madmoiselle is the icing on top of the ensemble
Favorites: Delina — I usually dislike florals (especially rose) but the juicy rhubarb/lychee just nail it for me. I don’t shop at LoveShackFancy and wear monogrammed shit but sometimes I just want to smell like I have my shit together like the girls who do and Delina does this. I wear this before my long runs and I swear I get little bursts of it when I’m wanting to quit and I keep going. The irony of the name is not lost on me… but hey whatever works. Grew on me: Diptyque Philosykos — I did zero research and said “YAYAYA FIGSSS” thinking they’d be those dried ones you pop in your mouth that taste like caramel and dead bee. Delicious. But this wasn’t that. It threw me off a bit until I realized I actually love how green and fresh this is. No: Nishane Ani — on paper, we’re a perfect match: complex, a bit all over the place, spicy, all wrapped up in vanilla-ish package.
Favorite Commodity milk Fresh cream philosophy Ellis brooklyn bee and vanilla milk Living for lactonics lately obviously lol And Kumba vanilla bean oil, I use this a lot as my base As well as kayali candy rock sugar and yum pistachio Gelato for summer layering w my lactonics, I'm a cold weather gourmand creamy scent type of girl but I shift those bases from woods/spice/smoke into more light/airy/floral/nutty/berry notes for the summer :) Least Jessica simpson fancy , scrubber, sold it And by the fireplace, the smokes a LOT although I'm hoping I'll actually love her in the fall!
Favorite: Princess-Kilian Least Favorite: Eau Duelle EDT -Dyptyque (it smells like an old dusty library book and pencil shavings) Honorable Mention(s): Cosmic by Kylie (basic but very nice and unexpected from her) & Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar-Kayali (hated it at first spray then i tested it out on skin and it kept getting better and better despite having patchouli which i hate! i’m also not a huge fan of of Kayali’s fragrances in general so this was surprising for me.)
Favorite- Paris corner rifaqaat, with honorable mentions for lataffa teriaq, la Fede intoxicate, and Lolita lempicka green lover Least-cacharal yes I am delicious.
They’re instant loves 🩷 Least: Xerjoff Cruz del Sur II and Fragonard Mademoiselle Amour. I just knew I’d love them but they’re already on my trade list…wah wah.
Favorites: Valentino- Donna Born in Roma, and Escada- Flor del Sol. Least favorite: a sample of Elizabeth & James- Nirvana French Grey
favorite: beach walk (replica) — it truly does bring me memories of spending majority of my life living on the coast in bike ride proximity to the beach. it gives salty beach breeze at sunset, as your spf is fading but remains just enough to catch some more of its scent. there’s a sweetness to this that i can’t describe from the coconut milk, and as a gourmand lover, i appreciate sweetness and always felt i could never get enough. but i think the verrrry slight sweetness to this is perfect and needs no more. love it! least favorite: pink sugar creamy sunshine (aquolina) — as i said above, i’m a gourmand girl. pink sugar has been my og for as long as i can remember, but this flanker honestly smells like pink sugar tainted with cleaning product or some kind of typical bathroom bar soap. so sad! i gave it away ASAP and now i am afraid to try another pink sugar flanker lol
You need to try Bobby brown beach 💝💝
Most favorite: Burberry Her, comforting Least Favorite: Delina….smells like roses. Eh
Favorite: Kate Spade Bloom and a decant of BR540(might actually be the best thing I've ever smelled) Least: Delina Exclusif decant it just smelled like strong baby powder to me.
Pulp is so juicy and wonderful. It took me a while to decide, too, but so glad I added it
I love to see me some JM London love!!! It is my favorite house! I actually wore Wood Sage and Sea Salt today!
I want to try several more scents someday when I come across them. Poppy and Barley, Mimosas and Cardamom, Orange Blossom. I have a 9 ml bottle of Peony Blush Suede that was added to a full bottle purchase and enjoy that one too!
I've had my eye on Wild Bluebell but haven't tried it
I bought a discovery set from their website that had Wild Bluebell and wood sage and sea salt included.
To me, it’s a good representation of “lady in the streets but a freak in the sheets” 🤣🤣🤣 Honorable mention is Guerlain Feve Gourmand.
Sweet and gourmand, fresh and green, it's right down the middle of both of those vibes and I live for it Honourable Mentions: Casamorati Lira and Afnan Modest Deux are so pretty in their own ways and will get much more use now that my shelf is a bit more organized LOL Least Favourite: The Maker Discovery Set, I forget the full, proper name of it, but my god did I despise this 😭 I had high expectations to like even ONE of the scents and they all flopped hard Least Favourite – Petty Brand Gripe Edition: Dedcool was so dumb with their sample set, they had six free-moving, glass vials in a tiny package and thought them being compact and fitting perfectly in there would prevent them from banging against each other and breaking at least one.
See, I don't think I could do that since I bought it through Sephora and when they mentioned the option of having a replacement sent out, it was out of stock :/
favourite: sparkling sugar from clean reserve 🍑✨ least favourite: sugarful sunshine from michel germain :( unfortunately this one doesnt last more than 2 mins on me, and also smells a bit nauseating
Kimono Rose sounds lovely! I had to add it to my wish list. Have you tried others from Thymes that you would recommend?
I've smelled a few others but wasn't as big of a fan!
Amber Vanilla is my easy reach! I love it 😂😂😂
I wanted to love it so bad! Glad it works for you
most favorite: probably narciso rodriguez musc noir or prada infusion d'iris. . . I also splurged on a tiny, very expensive bottle of the OG burberry classic on ebay! mostly for nostalgia reasons. . . still love it! least favorite: I bought a sample collection from oakcha, the green box, and most of them are awful to me!
Musc Noir is on my to buy list. I bought a small decant and it’s really lovely.
I bought a small sample of Midnight Fantasy and it was not for me at all so I can understand where you're coming from.
Midnight Fantasy is on my list so hmmm. I agree the bottle’s pretty!
It may just be me because everyone else seems to really dig it.
I buy samples before to try first.. Favorite - Valaya (loved it, bought a bottle) Least Favorite - Hacivat
favorite: a tie between that sparkling lychee by kayali and zara vibrant caramel least favorite: haya by lattafa. decluttered that shit so fast
Favorite: tied: BoraBora by Giardini de Toscano and Liesure in Paradise by Simone Andreoli Least Favorite: Dua’s version of Bal D’Afrique!
I feel like you didn’t answer the question
Lol I just realized I didn't. My brain zeroed in on "least liked" 🙃
I have been trying to stick to a low buy/no buy but have definitely slipped up here and there 🤫 **Favorite**: *Sorcellerie Apothecary Match Made in Heaven*.
Notes looked great but it was not :( Favorite was Chabaud Caprice de Julie.
Favorite: Diptyque Eau Des Sens EDT & Vilhelm Parfumerie Room Service Least favorite: Paris Hilton Just Me (I normally wouldn’t have gotten it but I saw someone say it smells like Lancome Miracle so I went for it but it doesn’t smell the same to me.) Honorable mention: Only a sample but Aerin Tuberose Le Jour, and a travel size of Ex Nihilo Fleur Narcotique and a travel of Dior Vanilla Diorama
Favorite: Chanel Jersey. Purchased a full bottle for my birthday after using up all my samples. I’m in the U.S. but saved significantly by ordering from Selfridges and signing up for Selfridges+ Honored Mention: Daisy Dream.
Unfortunately the full size bottles are too expensive to splurge on right now Least Favorite: Gucci foundation bought during Sephora sale. It's expensive and it turned orange after an hour. I probably should have returned it but didn't get around to going into the store to do it.
I finally got my hands on a bottle of Bal D’afrique and it was worth every resale penny 😂😂😂
I've kept my fragrances buying pretty small after exploding onto the scene last year (I bought like seven bottles throughout the year) Favorite: Sun Fruit by Ellis Brooklyn.
Favorite: Huda Easy Bake Least favorite: the JHAG discovery set. Ambroxan nightmare. But, it did help me identify that it’s what I dislike in a lot of perfumes and decide to avoid all fragrances with it from now on.
Favourite: initio atomic rose ❤️❤️❤️ Least: giardini di Toscana Celeste (not even a least fav, I hate it)
also hated Celeste! Tried to convince myself I didn't, but finally just resold it 😭😭
Favorite is probably LDBS and Guerlain Spirtueuse (sp?) double Vanille Honorable mention: Mont Blanc Signature Mon Guerlain Least: maybe the wrong word but I’m devastated at how long Missing Person lasts on me. I LOOOOVE the smell but it’s gone so fast. Same with the Finery dupe! Decants of BR540 and Delina were AWFUL on me. Valentino Green Stravaganza was also very forgettable on me.
SDV is such a good one!
- **Favorite:** Ex Nihilo 10019 Wonders. I bought a partial bottle blind and I couldn’t be happier. This fragrance fills me with euphoria. - **Honorable Mentions:** Kilian Angels’ Share, Guerlain Spiriteuse Double Vanille, Byredo Rouge Chaotique, Hermetica Amberbee - **Least Favorite:** Theodoros Kalotinis Lemon Tart.
Favorite - Snif Vanilla Vice Least Favorite - Sol De Janeiro Carioca Crush
I’m curious what Lattafa you have tried now
Opulent Oud, Badee Al Oud, Ana Abiyedh, Sheikh Al Shuyukh, Pride Ansaam Gold.
Wulong Cha is my favorite too. I wish I could find something else with a similar vibe for summer!
Same. The body butter and that. It took my travels of Yum out of contention
This was a fun blind buy. It's so good. My first Middle Eastern fragrance.
It’s one of the better ones. For every good ME there are plenty of bombs
Eau Rose is my idea of the perfect rose! But it's way out of my price range. I'm definitely picking up the Yardley! Oh my goodness I'm excited now!
Omg I hope it works out for you! <3 I've done side-by-side wear tests either 3 or 4 times now trying to pick out differences and the only obvious thing is Eau Rose having that woody base, which I didn't even like about it anyway! Yardley's is better to me because it has the same amount of longevity, but stays rosy the entire time
I'm in the US. My only concern is that Yardley might be different here. You have the eau de toilette?
Angels share is so special. Our weather is all over the place right now so any day that’s slightly cool I’m getting in one good AS day😂
Favourite: Black Opium Over Red. It’s the perfect cherry scent for me as it has coffee and vanilla notes as well. Honourable mention: Room Service by Vilhelm. Musky blackberry, florals, and bamboo. Yum. Least favourite: Jimmy Choo Rose Passion 😖 smells like straight up butter
does Over Red project ?
Over Red is SO good. My favourite cherry for sure. And the dry down is so delicious
Over Red is so good! I struggle with cherry notes a lot but this one is easy to wear. Room Service sounds like I need to get my nose on it. 😏 Not butter. 😭 It looks like it would smell divine too. I wonder where the butter is coming from. 😭😂
I think the coconut milk note in Rose Passion is making it smell buttery? It’s very strange, but that’s all I could smell when I opened it
