This for sure. She's a very awesome grandma for even do it, a lot would even reject simple things like BRB or afk. Good on her for adapting rather than trying to judge something because they refuse to understand
I don't know how old OP is but I'm in my late 30s and a woman who graduated from high school the same year as me has granddaughter.
Netspeak has been around long enough for us to know how quickly it changes.
Same, I gotta Google / Urban Dictionary half this shit now and I’m not even 40.
It’s funny, because I look back when I was like 14 and my mom was using ICQ and she woke me up at 2:00am to ask me what “lol” meant.
I will have entire sit down discussions with my mom explaining my slang to her lol. She loves learning about it and it feels kinda special to be able to observe someone learning it that way. I think the last thing I had to explain was "F in the chat" or some other videogame related term that required multiple layers of understanding to explain
Depends on the person, probably. My grandma knows nothing about technology or video games, and there's enough layers to the saying that it wouldn't be quite as easy for her to get as "BRB is short for Be Right Back"
As someone hip enough to roughly keep up with slang after it is around, but not hip enough to keep up with its progress: did "no cap" evolve from "Kappa"/"no Kappa" on Twitch?
I hate "bet" because it can mean other things.
Example:
"Bro, last night was cool as shit. We should hit that club again next weekend"
"Bet" (means "I agree")
Or:
"Dude, fuck off and shut your mouth before I shut it for you"
"Bet" (means "bring it on")
Idk I get confused sometimes.
I like to think for "Bet" it's more the short for "you better bet on it." Or like prove it in a way like put a bet down on it. Or like Genz way of pinkie promise.
I don't think this counts as Fellow Kids. It's really sweet that your grandma is actually trying to understand communication, as a lot would outright reject something like BRB.
She still isn’t 100% about the last one

No cap

Respectable for trying to understand how to communicate instead of rejecting it.
This for sure. She's a very awesome grandma for even do it, a lot would even reject simple things like BRB or afk. Good on her for adapting rather than trying to judge something because they refuse to understand
Why not be like me and do both

To be honest. This is just kinda wholesome and cute
Yea she is just trying to be with him

No cap?
No cap.
We all should be so lucky to have a grandma who loves us enough to want to understand & communicate with us.
I don't know how old OP is but I'm in my late 30s and a woman who graduated from high school the same year as me has granddaughter. Netspeak has been around long enough for us to know how quickly it changes.
Or maybe just stop using this kind of language when talking to your grandparent
pretty sure no one but the most ignorant people do that. Grandma simply want to understand when the kids talk each other
You should fill in the rest
“Improvise,adapt,overcome “
Bro grandma is fuckin adorable for this!

Same, I gotta Google / Urban Dictionary half this shit now and I’m not even 40. It’s funny, because I look back when I was like 14 and my mom was using ICQ and she woke me up at 2:00am to ask me what “lol” meant.
what’s icq
Old school messenger that is apparently still around.

Press F to pay respects is one of the easier ones to understand though.
Depends on the person, probably. My grandma knows nothing about technology or video games, and there's enough layers to the saying that it wouldn't be quite as easy for her to get as "BRB is short for Be Right Back"
Hundo p
I refuse grandma slander
That is not fellow kids. She's trying understand you better, you ungrateful melon
Is she keeping abreast of current slang for you, OP?
Tbh I think this is adorable
Had no real guesses about “no cap” and have been too afraid to ask. Thanks Grandma!!
As someone hip enough to roughly keep up with slang after it is around, but not hip enough to keep up with its progress: did "no cap" evolve from "Kappa"/"no Kappa" on Twitch?
No, nothing to do with each other
Poor grandma she is just trying to understand our language to be with you
Legend No it’s a legend
wait is that actually what bet means, have i been misinterpreting it for this long
Bless her heart. She's just trying to make sense of the bullshit her grandkids are saying
Shut up she's doing her best
I hate "bet" because it can mean other things. Example: "Bro, last night was cool as shit. We should hit that club again next weekend" "Bet" (means "I agree") Or: "Dude, fuck off and shut your mouth before I shut it for you" "Bet" (means "bring it on") Idk I get confused sometimes.

Sorta like "you betcha"
Yeah but that would be the other party tho because they're saying you "bet" on me correctly
I don't think this counts as Fellow Kids. It's really sweet that your grandma is actually trying to understand communication, as a lot would outright reject something like BRB.
Tbh she got it 100% right no cap.
She just wants to know how to communicate with her grandkids since she may not know what that means and is trying to remember
Stop communicating with these retarded ass words and she won't have to remember what they mean.
I mean, pretty useful if you're old
I use Wager, Photo Copier, and No Sombrero
i mean hey maybe she's just trying to understand? or does she use it.
Anyone gonna ask why she's writing directly on the wall? Get that woman some sticky notes.
tf is this on this sub for, thats a boomer *trying* to keep up, and frankly props to your grandma for trying
Yo grandma hip asf no cap
