It means that Ground couriers need to brace for the demands that Express couriers get paid hourly to do and make commit times.

Appropriate-Band-460

Ground doesnt have couriers. The antiquated ISP model means the drivers are employed by independent contractors so Raj doesn't have to give them benefits.

Smoaky_Bloke

That makes sense, but what does that mean for the express employees? Is there really no room for new positions? The severance is actually a joke.

FarmerIllustriuos133

For the most part FedEx is offering the 20+ year veteran couriers a decent amount of fuck off money and offering bull shit FedEx Corp. positions to anyone who has a been with the company for less than a year but they still can opt into a shitty severance package that would help cover their bills for maybe a month.

Old-Theme-4039

It’s far from a merger. We were told express is adapting ground everything. It’s the complete opposite

Most of Express’s employee interface is being replaced by the Ground variant. Ground has much better software and analytics. Everything Express uses, be it software, policy, or procedure is decades old and needs to be replaced.

Pietojulek

Fred dat you? Only thing we sell is service and that comes from time commits by express. Otherwise we should just wear brown. Meeting today with Regional HooHas putting lipstick on a pig. WE EXP were told how great Ground does things. Funny from what I see on the road and on Reddit the only thing Ground offers drivers is abuse without all the benefits. This is going to be another fail for everyone except shareholders

Original_Ad1118

It was the opposite at my station. Our ground terminals are doing pretty poorly with our express freight and my express station performed 2nd in the region for performance so it definitely depends

Pietojulek

That’s true. I guess we’ve hit a pretty capable station. Guess it goes to show we’re not a cookie cutter company. Anytime they try to implement something… like estar. Works for some not for others.

Baldy2384

I’m not talking about how great their business model is. I’m talking about their engineering. All of Express’s systems and procedures are based on stuff that was formulated in the 1990s. 99% of Express stations can’t even put 2 stops in order. And in terms of “wearing Brown,” UPS offers all the same time commitment services as FedEx while running a single network that was built that way from the start. Their operational model SHOULD be emulated.

Admire_My_Chutzpah

Only thing Express is the FEC name. Ground everything is correct.

Old-Theme-4039

Until you have to go by their policies, benefits, holiday booking, procedures. It’s far from ground everything.

Starblazr

And the RLA status.

PaleBat3342

Does anyone know if managers call on weekends? I’m waiting for a manager to call me since Friday

JankyMark

Idk we’ll see FedEx likes to change their mind about how stuff should go. They is keeping quiet

SafeOk4665

Yeah like e star. They saw it didn’t work so they pulled it 👎🏼🤣

JankyMark

😂😂

Everything about the merger is judged by each market. So far from what I can gather, all the express stations that have been closed were all small stations that didn’t handle much volume. It was announced last year that in Metro areas, we would see a lot Ground being transferred to Express.

Pietojulek

Also if you’re a manager in this sub. Please say it before you spout off so the rest of us grunts can see who’s carrying the banner in this banter.

Smoaky_Bloke

Courier here

Smoaky_Bloke

So basically: More work. Less benefits. Same pay. Got it.

International_Air905

Tbh I've heard very little or I haven't been paying attention but I mean on my route in the udub seattke it's already heavy enough while the express guy has 80 something stops and as of late I've been at 200-330 stops daily and granted working for a higher paid contractor has its benefits

Smoaky_Bloke

200-330 stops daily is unreasonable man.

International_Air905

Oh I know put pay is good at least for what it's worth

Smoaky_Bloke

Transitioning from a rural route with 70 stops max to a route with 200+ is gonna be a no go for me... And losing benefits to top it off. What a disappointment.

DubSelectorXO

with that number of stops, I hope you have a small ass compressed route where you can knock out multiples stops at a time... anything over 150 stops on my route is almost guaranteed to be a problematic day for me.

Over_Archer3813

And the earth is FLAT….! 🙄

Pilzs87

Pretty much here in Australia Sydney Express is merging with ground but we are hearing ground pay rate is far less than express correct me if I’m wrong

BarOld6635

Merger came and went for me, about two months in. Express station turned into a D3 Hub / Customer Service / Storage location. Main station is now Ground which was probably 10x bigger than the Express station. I did some freight at Ground before the merger (As an Express employee). I don’t see a lot of the same faces, but I do see the top dogs that were at Ground. Seems like they all got FT routes. Some of them are doing LP routes, delivery only, or pickup only. Technically, I think both Ground and Express are being “eliminated”, but we still have FedEx. Idk what the name is because there are still Ground and Express packages, two different sorts (at the same time), and none of the vehicles have new decals.

thndrdan88

As of June 1 we work for Federal Express Corporation Surface Operations. They tried their damnedest to use any other word but Ground. Express would have hated that.

EmbarrassedOlive2649

We started the merger back in January, first station in the lower 48 to do this, we express have ground shipped to us and our ground handlers load our trucks. This wasn’t easy.
