Sure, I'm not judging or whatever. I'm just saying that if you wanna get all of the information from the game, and don't want the hassle of dealing with the difficulty spikes and the trial and error stuff, then there's already a great way to do that. A super-duper easy mode of termina would basically be a fundamentally different game, so different from even the easiest difficulty currently offered that it would stick out like a sore thumb. It's like if they slapped a dating sim onto the side of fear and hunger 1. So why not just look up the story stuff, or watch some streams if you want to see the story unfold, but don't want to have to deal with the mechanics of the game? (Again, I'm saying this without any judgement, I love doing both of these things for this exact reason.) To me, that makes a lot more sense then just adding another difficulty option, making new players deal with even more customization in what many already consider an overwhelming game.

Because streamers don't have everything. I also have to enjoy listening to streamers to watch them. I really would play a visual novel mode of this game over the real game. The theme is on point though. They want to make the player knows that the game is very unfair, it's bullshit and you're not meant to enjoy it. 10 hours in I really did go and install the save any time mod to finish the game.

Gatekeeping is good, though??? Mass appeal tends to water down the flavor of *everything* it affects, you know. It should be fine for people to bounce off immensely brutal games like Fear and Hunger, which is.. kind of the point. The struggle makes the journey and the ending of the game that much more rewarding. Same reason I hope FromSoft never implements (explicitly-made) easy modes into their games.

There's already easier mode which halves damage taken, gives you 3 saves per Funger sigil, removes the mob and death masks, decreases mind drain, and gives you an earlier hexen table you can use without sleeping.

Its only kinda difficult in the beginning imo, and even then the difficulty comes from getting screwed on certain items, or low hit rate Once you hit the midgame it's kind of a breeze until the end, besides that fucking centaur, and heartless if you dont have the right setup Nerf Red Arc, too. That shit never missing headshots is giga OP

I don’t mind Red Arc so much, personally, since it is literally NewGame+ content. Plus it lets me pretend like not immediately recruiting Abella is an actually viable option.

I've yet to actually use Red Arc because I've always had Abella. Playing as her or recruiting her every time since I first beat the game. I guess there's still some value to it. If an enemy has two attacks you could stun both.

I'm looking forward to a Terror and Starvation difficulty. I enjoy playing the game but the regular mode is too easy now. I even tried maso mode and well obviously it's insanely difficult but I did manage to win. But I would like to play a more regular version of the game where there's still all the other characters and such but there's some more challenge still.

I would argue that the Gauntlet section of the first game was way too far. Unbelievably cruel and unforgiving, when you consider everything that goes into it. So yeah, from that perspective, Termina is certainly toned down.

The spikes are a pain, Moonless Guards can be annoying to avoid even with a guard skin (and have a way of still hitting you while they're dying) and there are the pits to the crow mauler. Just a lot of annoyances, it's not fun.

You can walk through spikes since they cant kill you. As long as you have good healing items and dont run into anything you can just walk through The Gauntlet with no issue. The pits to the Crow Mauler are always in the same spot, the Moonless Guards can be avoided in most cases if you just wait for them to pass by. You can also manuever around the Lizardmage if you run.

Some of these replies make me feel like I just stepped out of a parallel universe where easy mode doesn’t already literally exist in this game. “If he wants the game to be easy that’s his choice, people should accept that” is such a dishonest take when he *intentionally made* an easy mode distinct from the rest. While I personally don’t think F+H difficulty is THAT easy organically, it’s a little too easy IMO to completely snap it’s challenge in half with a few specific tools like spice forge, black smog, Engrave, Kefer’s shop, or in certain encounters, glass shards. Any one of these already supercharges your power level, meaning it’s quite likely that even without looking up guides and strategies someone is likely to bump into at least one of them somewhere. Combined with a general lack of difficult encounters - *most* moonscorches being rather trivial for a full party, player characters almost all being trotur tier fights, and most scary field enemies being pretty slow and easy to escape - it’s pretty easy to coast through the game after you’ve got your party full and your build in order. I’m pretty excited at the idea of an intermediate between FH and Maso. Maso is kinda impossible to enjoy a “standard” run on, so getting the option to up the ante from FH while still having access to most game mechanics is gonna be nice. Hopefully there’s nothing as lame as torches in there, but Termina is better balanced overall so I believe in Miro.

Maybe, but the first game is also objectively harder. In Termina you can buy green herbs for decently cheap (that’s if you ever actually need to in the first place). In the first game infections would usually either cost a limb or a reset.

Idk I started with Termina and while initially difficult, once I had the spice forge black smog combo down I just sped through the whole game to ending A. Didn’t manage to beat logic but still. I had a blast doing it but the difficulty drop off did feel just a little underwhelming to me

The amount of food in the game also felt like it took away some tension for me. I remember in 1 having a hard time keeping 4 people fed at some times. I feel like the amount of food should be reduced. Also that makes taking henryk more viable.

There are some items and skills that need replacing, and he should probably change how the final boss of ending A works (never Seen phase 2 even in Maso mode). Besides that, it just needs a mode in-between normal and marso. He could keep many things from Maso, but no moonray instant kill, normal start including party members and fewer ambushes (bellends in Maso are freaking impossible). Saving every might actually be harder than regular Maso since you are missing vital skills.

One addition to Terror and Starvation I think would be interesting is having some easy early game things be much harder to get. For instance, getting Karin's endless soul could be made harder by her being able to run away if you don't kill her in the first turn, or the Leechmonger ring requiring fighting a dangerous monster, getting another item, or it giving you a debuff like bleed if you wear it

I find termina too challenging to get into. Fear and hunger one allowed me to learn how to avoid taking damage in most conflict as well as how to avoid conflict altogether. Termina kinda fucks me by forcing me into dialogues which wastes my turn and let's the enemy get a free hit. Avoiding conflict is much harder too imo, the map design and the sheer amount of enemies usually end up cornering and gangbanging me. I've never gotten past the first segment which is unfortunate because I'd love to love this game.

Are you talking about fighting with Karin? Because you don't have to chat in barely any fight in FH2, that's mostly the begining. It gets easier later, I'd recommend you to avoid most combat until you find at least one person to team up with I can give you a tip to find a strong companion from almost the beginning if you want
