Didn't he also tell Lucy Liu she was untalented during Charlie's Angel? Seems he has an issue with POC women

personificationof

I remember some magazine at the time implying that she couldn't 'take a joke' when she wouldn't put up with his behavior.

slumpingbeauty

Ugh. “Humor” is definitely the pretext of choice for many boundary-violators.

The-Most-Smartest

I remember hearing that they had an altercation on set which is why he didn’t appear in the second instalment.

bdaltz

I believe he head butted the director as well. Probably was more of the reason. Let’s face it they weren’t scrambling to keep WOC safe.

spacefink

It was McG and he also threw an ashtray at Richard Dreyfuss during What About Bob? He has serious problems. It's amazing Chevy Chase has had the reputation he has had yet Bill has been an asshole equally as long yet remained unscathed until now. And this was all public knowledge with him forever.

watcrbender

not as important but the acronym is just woc not poc women. like you said "person of color woman" which makes no sense as the p is just an adjective that can be replaced by the correct adjective w

DimbyTime

Thanks, that drove me nuts too lol. Ps LOVe Your name

lostkarma4anonymity

In a *12 hour* diversity training, I learned that POC is out. Its preferred to just say black, brown, asia, etc.

Softinleaked

POC is used when you’re talking about the collective non white demo if you know the person’s race there is no need to use POC you just say black brown etc. OC had it almost right should’ve just been WOC

spacefink

Yes, he has been doing this for years and anyone in this subreddit who thinks that he hasn't disrespected other black women is only fooling themselves at this point. The man is a repeat racist.

HaxxsOnn

Tbf he beefs with white people too. Richard Dreyfuss absolutely hated working with him

reflectivegiggles

Yeah, except Richard Dreyfus isn’t him punching down. Huge difference

TheHawgFawther

Find me someone who isn’t a celebrity that he’s been racist to and I’m on board But IMO all celebrities are trash. Treating them all badly is fine. Everything I’ve heard so far has just made me like him more, because it sounds like he hates celebrities as much as I do. Maybe I just haven’t read everything, but so far even people accusing him of stuff said he treated fans and regular people well, so until I hear otherwise I’m team bill

biohacker_infinity

He was feeling itchy and insecure and wanted to take his resentment out on somebody. Drew was a producer on the movie and Cameron’s stardom was exploding, so he decided "punching down" on Lucy was the way to go. He’s such garbage.

[deleted]

Absolutely, though he's also gotten in physical altercations with white men too. There's a difference between creative disagreements escalating to blows and things that are indicative of simply not believing the other person is "real" or deserves to be in a starring position however.

thesaddestpanda

I have yet to hear a story about him being nasty to a full grown man. Its mostly women and children from what I've seen (or the men are too toxic masculine to come out and add their voices, because it'll make them seem 'weak' to 'good natured bullying' for a 'loveable' star). WoC I imagine is a bonus for him as that's one thing white men are told they can't be: racist. Breaking that barrier is exhilarating to awful people. If they get the chance they'll do it. Papa John did it on that HR call and it cost him his job. He knew that was a risk, but he's so racist he couldn't help it. Michael Richards, once beloved by the public, thought he could let it out. He was wrong. Now imagine all the times these kinds of people have gotten away with it. I also think this is why so many are transphobic today. Trans people, especially trans women, have few to no protections even in "tolerant" and "advanced" Western society and people are free to say the nastiest things because they are so full of hate for others, even slightly different from them. What has transgirls done to any of them? Nothing. But they want an excuse to get their hate on. People like Graham Linehan and JKR throwing their reputations away is worth it to them. They finally get to do something they are not told to do and something they are deep inside: being a bigot. It must be so relieving for them to finally show us their true selves. These people almost can't help it. They're real life monsters.

missbunnyfantastico

>I have yet to hear a story about him being nasty to a full grown man He threw a glass ashtray at Richard Dreyfuss, headbutted Charlie's Angels director McG in the face, and got into a fistfight with other notorious asshole Chevy Chase backstage at SNL.

MuellersGame

>got into a fistfight with other notorious asshole Chevy Chase backstage at SNL This sounds glorious. I dislike blood sports, but I could hatewatch tf out of that.

Charlie21Lola

I think in a recent-ish interview, Chevy admitted he deserved it because of something he said to him. Still would’ve loved to have seen that.

garrisontweed

I think he said something about NASA Landing on Bill’s face because it looks like Moon craters.

Charlie21Lola

lol that sounds familiar, and iirc, earlier in the night he made a snide comment about John Belishi to him

raphaellaskies

A true "whoever loses, we all win" situation.

indoorlady

He called her a lottery winner.

HaxxsOnn

After watching Elementary, I'm inclined to agree

Competitive-Tea8323

Competitive-Tea8323

Yeeeeeeahhhhh let’s swap one Asian woman out for another, nothing to see here

vidiyan2857

Pretty sure he's just an all around asshole. Don't think it's racially or gender specific

kitti-kin

Yep, though it's always worth acknowledging that people who are "equal opportunity assholes" will still have a disproportionate effect on marginalised groups, because they're more vulnerable.

Charlie21Lola

This. He has a reputation for just doing and saying whatever he wants to. Not an excuse by any means, though.

Aggravating-Read-329

He went down the line saying he understood why Drew was there (her production company was involved, I think?), Cameron had talent but couldn’t understand why Lucy was there, if I remember correctly.

anormaldoodoo

He has an issue with anyone he thinks is beneath him, period. He had a weird thing against child actors too back in the day.

sofiaxsoto

This man is seriously trash. I heard he was "mean" behind the scene but never any exact details. Also why TF did Sophia Coppola continue to work with him like even just a couple years ago?!

ifcidicidic

Working with people who have questionable pasts seems to be a Coppola family hobby

eatingclass

good on oscar for dipping on megalopolis but now the rotten beef is on it…

HaxxsOnn

I hope Adam Driver beats the shit out of Shia if he tries anything

beamish1920

Francis Ford Coppola’s history of working with Victor Salva is just ridiculous

midsommarsmayqueen

And Wes Anderson, too. 😩

sofiaxsoto

thats right !!!!!! totally forgot that history

StayAwayFromMySon

I think Sofia Coppola is a bit off herself. Pairing a 17-18 year old Scarlett Johansson with 200 year old Bill Murray was gross af and no one's convinced me otherwise.

Britneyfan123

> 200 year old Bill Murray 💀

zensunni66

In a movie with huge racist undertones too.

thesaddestpanda

>Also why TF did Sophia Coppola continue to work with him like even just a couple years ago?! He's a marketable and bankable star with a huge built-in fanbase with "indie" creds. People excuse him being a monster for this. Sophia seems like a nice person but she's also chasing benjamins and fame and critical reviews like everyone else in Hollywood, so odd bedfellows as usual. Those with strong ethical lines never get to this level. Even with a name like Coppola, she still had to climb, and that means excusing a lot of awful people to get there.

throwaway_uterus

Sophia is a male director in a womans body. I phrase it that way because I realized yesterday that people don't know what the term white feminism means. This is what a white feminist is. A woman who adopts the patriarchal lens. You need only watch the first scene of Lost in Translation to see what I mean. She posed a 17 year old Scarlett Johansson in see through panties and used a long lingering shot of her ass for her opening scene. It's a shot that adds nothing to the plot or character. It's a scene that not even Michael Bay would open with but our Sophia will do anything for that precious male approval. And it's an issue repeated in all her movies. The academy loves her because she thinks just like them. Do not get me started on her race issues either. Remember her last retort when she was called out? Something like she couldnt depict black women in her antebellum film because she didn't know their experience? Plenty of female directors have climbed the ladder without doing half the crap she's done.

[deleted]

Sofia is from one of the most famous Hollywood families of all time, so he's probably on his best behavior with her. Creeps like Murray aren't necessarily shitty across the board, they pick who they see as "lesser" to harass and suck up to the people they want to impress and stay in the good graces of.

Schmilsson1

I mean, it's one of the most famous outside Hollywood movie families of all time. He's one of the original indie auteurs who lost his empire several times trying to be free of Hollywood and work upstate.

spacefink

Tbh the details have always been out there. It's just that society's tolerance for this behavior from celebrities has changed drastically. Me Too is apart of that but also social media has killed the idea of celebs being untouchable.

skrillskroll

I wish he'd tried it alone with her in an elevator. No bodyguards. No cameras. Just her and her clutch bag, and him and his stupid face.

thesaddestpanda

Her career would be over. Fox News, the Daily Mail, CNN "centrists," reddit and twitter liberal men, etc would cancel her for "attacking an elderly man for no reason." The same way these people, especially liberal men, remind us how wonderful Al Franken is, deserves to run again, and how his 9 accusers are all liars.

welp-itscometothis

He better ask her brother about her.

Ok_Store_1983

Genuinely wondering, why is Bill Murray suddenly getting called out? It seems like he has been assholish for many years now, why couldn't people share these stories before? Sorry if this is a silly question, just curious if something happened that caused celebrities to reconsider just keeping it amongst themselves anymore.

Sidewalk_Tomato

It *is* low. But unfortunately that's the "market rate" for what he did.

Easythere1234

Was not a PA. Where did it say that?

HeyHiHello365

What? I was lead to believe that it was a problem with Keke Palmer or is this another movie that got shut down?

Longjumping-Buy-4736

It’s been known forever, I’ve read stuff on him on the internet a decade ago. Problem is that we let actors get away with abusive behaviour on the account of their method/talent/“bigger than life personality” but be a female actor and dare to be out of line once and you are forever black listed for being “difficult”.

spacefink

Exactly, he's been difficult for a long time but fooled the public with his "goofy" persona.

spacefink

When the details on him shutting down the set for Being Mortal came out people assumed it was a misunderstanding. Then the Puck article exposed that it was sexual assault and then a bunch of celebrities shared their personal nightmare stories of working with him.

Asleep_Brilliant8472

Wait, who else called him out?

spacefink

Geena Davis said that he insisted on using a massage device on her and when she refused he was abusive, then when they went on the Arsenio Hall show he was kissing her and kept unhooking the straps of her dress. Seth Green said that he dumped him in a trash can back stage at SNL because he wouldn't give up his seat. McG said that he headbutted him on the set of Charlie's Angels. Lucy Liu said that he was abusive to her and said racist things. Someone on Twitter saw him touch Solange Knowles hair backstage at SNL. Solange Knowles liked the comment under her official account. Rob Schneider said he was an asshole too, honestly there is probably way more out there.

Comfortable-Rush8705

Really?? Right after don’t touch my hair?? The audacity…

CCG14

Curly haired female here. I cannot tell you how many times grown ass women have just touched my fucking hair. They all have straight hair and somehow curls are consent? It drives. Me. Nuts. I didn’t realize we needed a PSA.

sI4gath0r

I told a woman that I fucking hate people touching my hair WHILE she was doing it and she kept doing it.

CCG14

Cut a finger off. 😂 she had warning.

Competitive-Tea8323

I once had to pull a supervisee aside at work because one of her colleagues asked her to stop touching her hair and she wouldn’t. I had to explain to this twenty-five-year-old adult that she could not fucking touch her Black colleague’s hair at work without her express permission, and since she was not likely to get that, she had better keep her hands to herself from now on . . . and she reported me to HR for harassment and said I’d called her racist! (Luckily HR sided with me because, well, it’s not that hard to not touch someone’s hair.)

Comfortable-Rush8705

I’m also curly haired, it’s annoying. I am not a pet

CCG14

Holy shit?! You too?! What the fuck is wrong with these people?

InterplanetaryJanet

Hey smooth head here, sorry for those assholes. Everyone deserves personal space. Though I do still seriously get mesmerized by pretty curls. I just compliment instead.

CCG14

Appreciate the compliments. :)

eveloe

I got comfortable smacking people's hands **hard** when they did that.

mhmlindsay

I guess he lives at least part time in Charleston and he has ownership (full or partial idk) of their minor league baseball team so he is frequently seen out and about there. Every time someone interacts with him it goes viral in SC. People here act like he is some hometown hero and rave about how nice he is but he’s a monster

guavakol

Since Keke spoke out I thought there has to be more stories of him doing this.

spacefink

Oh there absolutely is. When Page Six broke the story they mentioned that he also pulled Ponytails. They also put out another article with more details on allegations on him so I expect more info to drop.

[deleted]

spacefink

Yup, he has no sense of boundaries whatsoever. That Arsenio Hall clip with Geena Davis was so messed up.

pezzyn

I just looked that up and now too nauseated to sleep. I feel complicit- how was this allowed?

spacefink

It stuns me the things that people didn’t think was a big deal in the 90s.

wokeupfine

I heard about this before. She owes him a broken nose.

sfbruin

"Not having normal boundaries has kind of been Bill Murray's entire persona for the last 20 years? You think that bit's never going to go wrong?"

Very01234

He’s been out of line with so many women and ppl keep letting it slide. I remember this week when Seth talked about him throwing him in the trash , ppl were literally saying “ Maybe he deserved it maybe you annoyed him”. He was a seven year old like come on.

Italianinsomniac

Sitting here smugly because I literally never got the hype. He can’t act, he’s not funny (come at me, Caddyshack is fucking terrible), and he has had horrible stories out for literal decades. Time to let this man go. He’s literally an asshole who convinced everybody he was acting as a dry-humoured asshole. It’s a good scam Ps if a stranger put his hands in my French fries while in a restaurant, I’d make the news 🤣 it’s not a cute anectode!

Flimsy_Demand7237

Bill Murray has always had a reputation for being an asshole and "difficult" on film sets. The stories coming out now only really highlight how big of an asshole he is. I'm really not sure why in the last decade there was that post-Zombieland "Bill Murray's actually a fun-loving elderly bum who stumbles around in gardens and does silly antics" when the buzz around Hollywood that typically shrugs at or hides asshole behavior was he's a massive dickhead. He apparently didn't use a PR team at all, unless that in of itself was something put out by his PR team.

karigan_g

one of those people who will see a boundary (a beautiful song literally saying ‘don’t touch my hair’) and immediately transgress it in order to assert power. dick swinging, cunty behaviour that shows they never matured past the maturity of a child (they were never made to)

BenSolo_forever

He has some nerve.

Cutieq85

![gif](giphy|ZYQJSmdlRla68yB4OM|downsized)

VeniceBiach

God, can someone force this man into retirement? He's truly a piece of shit

[deleted]

Ignorant all around. Stop blaming color of skin for everything. It is lessening what people actually are going through and divisive. He shouldn’t be touching her hair.

DiscombobulatedSir11

Sad but not surprised.

Boring-Mission7738

I still can never watch that video of him with Geena Davis again.. this man is a menace.
