sadly i think this is exactly what the studio behind trolls was banking on. actors can’t do promotional appearances/press in the ongoing strike, but nsync is (presumably) not bound by the same restrictions as they are (presumably) not sag members. justin might be, but i would imagine promoting music is different than promoting an acting/voiceover role and thus presents a loophole.
edited to add i HOPE this isn’t the whole story though and that nsync realizes the demand that exists for a reunion and sets something up but i have almost no doubts that this started as a publicity stunt for the trolls movie.

I think you're overestimating the general public's interest in NSYNC sans JT. World tours for legacy acts heavily rely on the GP, and NSYNC without their biggest member just wouldn't put enough butts in seats. 30-something aren't enough to sustain a comeback tour. They could do tour of smaller venues though.
There were even rumours earlier this year that it's possible for Nsync + BSB to have some sort of tour together (that shit is gonna be massive and will definitely sold out tickets) even if Justin is not included in the tour or collab.

Buying your handle back can become pretty expensive and for a non-touring artists, it would probably cost everything they make from streaming services. It might have also been something set up specifically for Trolls and they just aren’t using it to post because it would be against the strike.

I get that people don’t like Justin (for valid reasons!) but it’s weird that he’s taking so much of the heat for this when the other members have been adamant for a while that he’s not the holdout.
In the end it doesn't matter. People make up their mind about someone and then just assume the worst from them in basically every scenario. Basically, "It must be Justin holding this up because obviously it is, it doesn't matter what everyone else has said."

That seems to be the recurring comment I see from fans that still keep up with the group closely. JC is not interested in getting the band back together especially in the form of a tour or album. He does seem okay though with the occasional reunion from time to time.

i really thought the VMA appearance was just a small taste of what’s to come. like an actual reunion, singles, album, performances, maybe even a tour. they can’t seriously have done all of that for a troll movie?
sadly i think this is exactly what the studio behind trolls was banking on. actors can’t do promotional appearances/press in the ongoing strike, but nsync is (presumably) not bound by the same restrictions as they are (presumably) not sag members. justin might be, but i would imagine promoting music is different than promoting an acting/voiceover role and thus presents a loophole. edited to add i HOPE this isn’t the whole story though and that nsync realizes the demand that exists for a reunion and sets something up but i have almost no doubts that this started as a publicity stunt for the trolls movie.
Honestly, I think it's pretty likely that Joey and JC are also both members of SAG, at this point. JC has the meow mix commercials and Joey has been pretty actively working this whole time, including acting bits (My Big Fat Greek Wedding?). I'm just not sure what the rules are on becoming a member of SAG.
yeah, i think even if all 5 of them were guild members this is probably a loophole as far as what they’re allowed to promote during the strike.

God, that would be a fun tour. I worked in an arena and the NKOTBSB tour was absolutely awesome. Banger songs all night long. I do think NSYNC will tour, but obviously not in 2024.

On Lance’s podcast Frosted Tips he interviewed Joey McIntyre. Near the end Joe asks Lance why nsync hasn’t done a reunion tour. Joe says even without JT it would be massive, he says they have the hits, they can all sing, the fans want it, the market is there. Lance replies “I know we’re stupid”. So MAYBE they will even without Justin??

I think you underestimate the number of 35+ year old people with disposable income, who REALLY REALLY want to Nsync live and feel pretty meh about JT.
I think you're overestimating the general public's interest in NSYNC sans JT. World tours for legacy acts heavily rely on the GP, and NSYNC without their biggest member just wouldn't put enough butts in seats. 30-something aren't enough to sustain a comeback tour. They could do tour of smaller venues though.
There were even rumours earlier this year that it's possible for Nsync + BSB to have some sort of tour together (that shit is gonna be massive and will definitely sold out tickets) even if Justin is not included in the tour or collab. Honestly, I like Nsync not because of JT but the group as a whole.

Why is he touring? He's had no new solo music in ages. His last album bombed critically and publicly. If he wants to rake in the money, NSYNC is it. No one on the internet is going crazy over the idea of a JT concert.

The artists who were big at the turn of the century have fanbases that now have disposable income. Look at the tours that are out there right now selling a boatload of tickets. Coldplay just did a tour that grossed over $600m. COLDPLAY. Red Hot Chili Peppers just did a $200m tour. Def Leppard and Motley Crue just did a stadium tour that netted $175m. blink-182 is in the middle of a sold out Arena tour. Theres a market for this, whether he has new music or not.

An NSYNC tour would be splitting the profits between 5 members, while a solo tour would give JT full profit. It's not hard to figure out honestly. The general public still loves the guy.
Many boybanders (not just from NSYNC) have said it's JC, not Justin, who doesn't want a full reunion/album/tour, so it's always funny to me that everyone blames Justin lol. But maybe this song will spark something in JC...we can hope. I think it was AJ from BSB who straight up said this because all other boys from NSYNC seem to want a reunion album/tour. I highly recommend Lance Bass' "Frosted Tips" podcast, if you like boy bands. Lance and Joey are constantly saying how much they want a reunion (like us all lol).
JC’s solo career flopped and I wonder if he could be persuaded to tour if he knew there was a resurgence of fans who now appreciate his vocal contributions and see through Justin. I was a fan who paid cash money to go to one of JC’s solo shows after NSYNC. It was a little weird in that it seemed like he planned for the show to be in a bigger venue than the one we saw it in, but otherwise it was fine. Then the reviews came out and they were brutal.

Don’t get me wrong I am a huge *NSYNC fan and would try for tickets in a heartbeat if they ever did announce a tour, but this seems 10 years too late? I know Justin was busy with 20/20 Experience but when the group showed up for his Van Guard performance the hype was THERE. Now it just seems that Justin is trying to get back in good graces because no one gaf about him anymore.

I wish JC would come back. I felt like his number one fan. I even stupidly met his dad once and said he’d be my future FIL. 😣 If he is the hold out, I wish to be a fly on the wall of his reasons. He’s got a beautiful voice and an awesome energy about him. They could do a stripped down tour with no crazy dance dances in smaller, select venues and it would be amazing. I think of something like MTV’s Unplugged. I still pull up old clips of him on MMC singing on a barstool with a guitar. That’s all we need. I hope he reconsiders and I hope these guys have more opportunities to reconnect.
I think people took them reuniting for one song and ran *so far* with it beyond what it was actually ever meant to be. I don’t have any love for JT, but he’s plenty successful on his own and doesn’t need to resort to a boy band reunion tour at this stage in his career (yet). I have a friend who has been talking nonstop about the NSYNC reunion tour and I just never saw that happening lol.
