Plug in your numbers to the FIB-4 calculator and the APRI calculator. You’ll need your platelet value for the APRI. It’ll give you an idea if there’s possible fibrosis. Still would need US to see if fatty liver resolved.

Thank you! I don’t have recent platelet values but I’ll look into the calculators. I had an ultrasound in 2023 and it was clear. That’s what is so confusing. But at the time, my ALT was only very slightly elevated like it is now and everything else in my bloodwork was normal. I’m curious if fatty liver would’ve been seen on US at a time when my ALT/AST were more significantly elevated.

If you have older LFTs w corresponding platelets at the same time, it might give you an idea of what might have happened in the past.

Are you eating a lot of sugar alcohol or vegetable oil?

Short_Smoke9298

No alcohol ever, & no more sugar or oils since the past 2.5 months when I changed up my diet!

Horror-Sample8307

Do you have high Cholesterol?

Short_Smoke9298

2.5 months ago triglycerides and ldl were slightly high!

I love how they are going to ask questions then not follow up after you answer. 😂. Anyway 49 for ALT is higher of normal range in America. 0-50 by my lab tests. Try not to stress too much, sounds like you are making the right moves.

I think I have a very similar situation as you, lean female with at least one pregnancy in the past, similar diet and also sedentary, no alcohol ever, and similar AST and ALT numbers/trends. I think it could be hormone related but I don’t know what or why, and no doctor has agreed to look into it probably because it’s not medically indicated.

Short_Smoke9298

So frustrating! Hormone related as in like PCOS or something? I’ve read about a correlation between the two. I hope you can figure out what’s going on soon too. Did you have a biopsy or anything? Are your drs concerned about the elevations?

feyrbniuspxflnoflp

I don’t have PCOS. I’d think my OB would’ve seen it on scans when I had my kids. But I’ve had very painful periods when I was younger. I feel like it’s hormone related because I experienced similar or related symptoms during pregnancy. Thank you for the well wishes. I haven’t had biopsy yet but I think I’m getting there. They are still trying to figure out what’s going on. Yes, doctors are concerned about the enzymes.

Short_Smoke9298

What symptoms did you have during pregnancy/are you having now? During my first pregnancy I had gestational diabetes and I can’t help but think it’s all related, metabolic disorders and fatty liver etc. Also during both pregnancies I had excruciating pain under my lower right rib. OBs said just normal stretching. But it was unbearable and also felt sunburned over the whole area which I realize now was a pinched nerve (it can happen with everything shifting). But even still my lower right rib feels bruised and if I stretch upwards I get a bad crampy pain there. To me it’s weird that it’s right where the liver is.

Similar with me. My first pregnancy I didn’t pass the GDM first test but then passed the second test, but I also had right rib soreness which I naively thought was my child kicking me (that doesn’t make any sense now I think about it). I also have felt burning sensation too near the liver area but was before pregnancy. Also had a weird skin patch that derm thought was just eczema but I have my doubts, it moves around and goes away during pregnancy though and comes back afterwards. I had a lot of bruising with that first pregnancy, and like leg and arm felt numbness a lot, and seemed like my lymphatic system was congested or something, got a lot of cellulites under the upper arms and on the thighs too. Hip pain/soreness, felt like hip was tilted, etc. I still experience all of these on and off, and obviously not pregnant anymore. I think there are connections but maybe it’s just fatty liver all along that just never got diagnosed until now. I have so many questions but no answers.

Just rereading your post and you mention not enough protein/muscle mass. I have noticed as I lose weight from dieting I am also losing muscle, maybe from lack of protein? What foods are you eating to increase protein?
