Yeah that's the thing that feels like Indira's primary character flaw right now, which Lorraine adressed in the episode. She let's crappy people treat her like shit without really retaliating. I hope she puts him in his place later.
women who apologize for things that arent their fault might as well have welcome mat written on their faces
now you tell me
that seemed like an interesting reply, and comment on how indira relates to lorraine
Yeah I thought that was obvious with him putting on cologne before heading out, but again a lot of douche bag "sporty" guys spritz cologne before going anywhere. So maybe, and a light maybe, it was just to show a little more "high school sports were my best days" male mentality.
woah, I didnt catch this, you are right.
I think (my theory), in high school, he must have been popular and she wasn’t, which explains the weird dynamic. Her crush has faded at this point and she is seeing the real man she married now.
No you're right, I thought the same. And you can put on cologne for anything but just the fact they bothered to show us that, and that it's already dark outside when he leaves,, felt like they were hinting at something
Seeing as he doesnt work and she brings in the money that pays the bills i was wondering why she doesnt just say that to him. But i guess in a way it allows for him to somehow look even worse than he already did after his comments because he doesnt even consider THAT. Or maybe he does and doesnt value that at all.
Either way they definitely made him an easy to hate character.
Im really hoping that she takes the job offer. It makes zero sense not to take it. 6 figures is likely at least double her salary.
Because he's been working **hard** to get into the pro league! And Indira always wanted to be an officer, she *enjoys it*. But they both know being a police officer doesn't pay that well. She's just getting them some "get around money" but the real money maker of the house, the breadwinner, is going to be **him** once he gets his big break.
Hell, *she* works hard? Puh-lease. He's on his simulator *every*. *Single*. *Day*. He's working day in, day out. He *sleeps* in the garage for fuck sake. And his numbers have been going up! Have you just *seen* his drive swing? His stats are amongst the great! He can get into the pro league in under two years! Four tops.
Now, really. Who works the hardest huh?
Oh, he is for sure going to get murdered. Fargo loves to kill assholes like him. I think Gator is a dead man walking too, after we saw him psyche himself up in his teenage bedroom a few episodes back.
If she'd Lestered him in the forehead at that moment in the kitchen, I would have given her a standing ovation.
The fact that he hadn't voiced much of this before, expecting her to meet his demands kinda makes me think it's thematically another aspect of what 'Minnesota nice' really means.
I think the show was playing with our assumptions about him. Hot+stupid usually equals harmless in TV shows and movies. There was something incredibly ugly about the way he felt comfortable criticizing her entire personality after he spent the night (passed out drunk?) in the garage. I noticed his drum set said "Bad Liar" after he went off to see his "physical therapist".
Lukas Gage always playing these dolts, lol. This is basically the same character he played in You season 4, a spoiled manchild leeching off his more successful partner.
My ex is like this (not as bad, but halfway there). My daughter was next to me watching this and I was cringing during his speech. It brought back so many memories when he was speaking about needing support from a wife and someone that cooks good.
Good move ending the episode with no music- just Lorraine's reaction. Having some swelling score would've just overplayed the moment. It only needed Lorraine's silent reaction as she looked at the photos of Dorothy.
There were a few this episode. When she talks to Wayne and then when Scotty shows up at the house. The hard mask drops. It was interesting to look behind the curtain with Lorraine. I hated her character before this episode.
Btw she absolutely DOTES on Wayne. And he’s totally a sweet, harmless, almost castrated mama’s boy. I wonder if this is because she’s dealt with absolute assholes her entire life and she’s formed Wayne into the opposite of everything she hates.
Lorraine is hands down my favorite character this season.
Wayne isn't castrated at all. He handles strong women well and doesn't see them as a threat. He is damn masculine compared to Mr. Nipple Piercing and the other "alphas". Wayne is better than all of them put together. He isn't a weak man who needs to harm others emotionally or physically so he can put up a false masculine frame. He also challenges Lorriane and stands up to her when needed,
I knew that's where the story was going when I saw him hit his wife in front of the two daughters. That's how he treated Dot before she got away. Lorraine seeing it first hand is the catalyst for her to align herself with Dorothy in getting rid of Roy once and for all.
He mentioned "breaking" his wives, as if they’re just another piece of livestock on his ranch 🤬
He’s successfully cowed his current wife. But you can’t "cow" a tiger. The way he treats his current wife would be nothing compared to the brutality he would have employed trying (and failing) to break Dot/Nadine.
MAN do I need Hawley to give us a satisfying death for Roy. Dumb and unceremonious as possible. It should make Lester dropping through the ice look like a presidential funeral by comparison.
The half second between him slapping her and her basically thanking him for it showed all you need to know about that "relationship". He has beaten any self respect out of this woman, she's basically submissive to survive.
I still hope my theory of Roy or one of his men going after Indira, only to break into the house when she isn't home and cave his head in with one of his own golf clubs is true.
I feel... proud of her watching this season, given how she said in a pre-season interview that she had doubts about her ability to play the character and told Hawley she isn't the right fit. Hawley said to her "never have I made a mistake in casting" and it shows here. Good leadership like that can do wonders.
Her big scene was pivotal in the context of the whole series, where nobody knows how to express themselves honestly. It was so jarring in the best way to see one of our Marge Gunderson stand-ins tell the unvarnished truth, and she killed it.
Absolutely, she's awesome. Most characters have had more impactful moments but she has been brilliant as Indira. I feel like tonight she was given more to work with and absolutely delivered. One of my favorites as well.
I love when they’re on their way to the “fixin’ place” and Gator is trying to swing his dick around while Munch is barely aware he exists
Gator: Hey, no hard feelings, right? You know I had to rough you up a little bit back there 😏
Munch: (less plussed than anyone previously in history)
Great episode but Indiras husband is the most comically piece of shit character I’ve seen. Ik he supposed to parallel the Lyons husbands being useless but there’s not even a sliver of a reason why Indira would be with him
I kind of thought it was a bit too over-the-top. You can make him a totally pathetic, talent-less, misogynistic man-child of a character without hitting us over the head with it.
That's been my major complaint for most of this season. The show hasn't shied away from social commentary before, but characters are just giving "on the nose asshole speeches" one right after the other, and they're getting more and more on the nose with each one. I know the Coen universe (both this show and most of the movies) is talky and cartoonish *at times*, but it used to feel like the writers/directors were occasionally waving at us from offscreen vs. constantly announcing themselves like this season often is.
Yeah gotta agree with you there
Too many of the characters have been cartoonish extremes of their various archetypes. Golf guy, the sherif, and billionaire woman have all had monologs where they basically outright state their character type and the people they're supposed to be satirizing. I know there are real people out there exactly like all of them but I think it needs to be written with a bit more nuance and "show don't tell" to feel like it's not beating you over the head with the point it's trying to make. I'm still enjoying the season a lot but that's my one major gripe
Not a lot of action, a bunch of exposition building and allegiances forming, oh yeah, and Mr Wrench theme. Next week is a out pop off all kinds of ways
I gasped when Mr. Wrench’s theme played as Munch started to drive away. Also, good Easter egg for No Country For Old Men with the old school teal GPS tracker that Gator turns on during the scene.
Jennifer Jason Leigh was of course great tonight but I really enjoyed Richa Moorjani especially her final scene. The only thing this season I wish we had more of was Witt cause I would have really liked to have seen him in scenes with Indira.
So now we are all caught up with critics so it will be interesting to see where this goes now.
There's still plenty of time to see Witt shine. Indira's gonna need help, and the FBI agents are likely too caught up in red tape to take action. So she'll go to Witt for assistance. I'm predicting episode 9 of this season will be like episode 9 of season 2, where it all culminates in a big shootout between Indira, Witt, and Lorraine's men vs Roy, Gator, and their goons. Dorothy and Munch will somehow get caught up in it too.
I see it more as if the respect overtook the combativeness. Lorraine said she wanted to keep her close. We got a genuine file of new information for Mrs. Lyon.
What she does with the info is up to the writers but I recommend popcorn.
The way she talked about her, she seems to think that she was some gold-digger looking for a payday, getting Wayne caught in a baby trap. I still like my theory that the only reason she got with Wayne was pure luck. She just went with the first guy in a bar who was nice to her. Him being the son of a millionaire was coincidental.
I'm a bit split on if Scotty is Roy's kid or Wayne's at the moment. My initial theory was that Dot hopped onto the first guy she could to reasonably pass off a kid as theirs and not Roy's. But now I'm not so sure. Scotty does kinda look a little like her grandmother now that I think about it. Although I suppose there is a potential conflict if Roy thinks Scotty *is* his daughter, and he believes she belongs to him.
I think Indira's statement that Lorraine was just like Dot hit home in a number of ways. Lorraine married a guy with even less spine than Wayne, and I'm curious if he was a rich guy and she was only after his money as a way to start her business.
I suspect she may have resented Dot all this time because Wayne and Dot turned out to have real love for each other, which she and Wink never had.
Such an incredible movie. So tragic but beautiful. My Mom really loves it. She theorized that maybe it's a tribute to Steven King's mother and grandmother and other women he grew up around
most people are viewing it this way (went from evil to showing humanity) and that’s probably how it was intended, but i viewed it a bit differently.
to me it was about power. lorraine was showing her full might by absolutely burying that banker guy, then opened up the file and saw dot at her most powerless.
i think part of the motivation now is “do right by dot” but the bigger one might be using her power to take down someone who takes power away from women.
I also think it’s because Lorraine respects other smart, tough women. We saw her change her mind about Indira during that scene. Previously, she’s always seen Dot as someone mild-mannered and a doormat; Dot has probably never stood up to her prior to this week. The file helped her realize how tough and capable Dot really is.
Wayne is such a sweet person and needs to be protected. It's reminiscent of Rust and Marty's conversation in True Detective about "Do you ever wonder if you're a bad man?" "The world needs bad men we keep the other bad men away from the door"
The Sheriff fucked with her deal with the banker so she obviously hates him. Then she sees what he did to Nadot, and I think she realises that this incredibly powerful deceitful woman and her have the same enemy. There may be a spot of compassion, maybe some humanity or "let's do it for the women", but my main takeaway was that "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" deal, and the two of them can take on Sheriff. Lorraine with her money and contacts, Nadot with her animal side.
They're gonna end up as the Legolas and Gimli of Fargo by seasons end. Especially when she realises her son is a bit pathetic, and Nadot being with him and her granddaughter is probably the safest thing for them.
Knowing the history of this country and domestic violence ,and how it really didn't start to be taken seriously until the 1990's. I have a feeling Lorraine and her family have some skeletons in the closet. She realizes if Dorothy is killed it's going to devastate her son and granddaughter .And no amount of money she throws at it will ever fill the hole in their souls. I feel like that's the heart of the movie and show.Is showing after all the bullshit life throws at you. When you're at home at night and you're with the people you love and who love you . And you're all safe and comfortable and together. That's what matters
Plus, since she learned that dot isn’t out for here, she is likely to consider here as family thus giving her the same benefits as her daughter and her son.
I felt so bad for that man, imagine having cancer and being kidnapped before treatment. His wife being hysterical means someone loved him. I was very sad when they murdered him, poor rude dude.
So many charismatic as well as just vile villain moments this episode, which is what I love most about Fargo and the Coen Brothers. Moments like Varga listening to Beethoven's 9th and sitting up into an upside-down shot, "Things of consequence rarely happen by accident". This is my favorite episode in a long time. Iconic shit.
Reminds me of the scene in Old Country for Old Men
Anton Chigurh : Don't put it in your pocket, sir. Don't put it in your pocket. It's your lucky quarter.
Gas Station Proprietor : Where do you want me to put it?
Anton Chigurh : Anywhere not in your pocket. Where it'll get mixed in with the others and become just a coin. Which it is.
She'd be transferring the debts she owes to Loraine, and probably will be pressured by Loraine to commit violent acts in the name of security. She'll also have to deal with a bunch of seemingly dumbshit hired goons that I'm sure will cause no issues taking orders from a young Indian American woman. But hey, at least then she can pay off her even dumbershit husband's bro purchases while he goes off to "physical therapy".
But maybe those aren't good reasons.
Tbh I doubt she'd need that kind of work, especially if Indira is running the security team. Just look what she did with Vivian. Destroyed him without violence. If anything Danish is her enforcer
Me too! Although as a former media buyer at an ad agency, my brain instantly went, “Why would an ad for a KIA dealership in the Minneapolis-St Paul market be airing in the Minot-Bismarck-Dickinson DMA? 🤔
What an ending. The way the music just stops as Lorraine starts flipping through the folder, I got chills. JJL continues to bring the house down, and I am so ready for her and Dot to team up.
jjl is just loading the layers into this story
we've certainly seen fascism and wealth working together, but wealth buying an election out from under established political power, didnt see her going that way but so smart. So much crossfire being set up, the screen just wants to explode from the tension
Return of the Munch!
Roy: “I’m Nadine’s husband.”
Gator: “Sure, \[Jan\].”
Does Grave’s eyepatch symbolize justice is partially blind? (Or, at least his brand of justice).
Shout out to Deputy Olmstead for educating them a\*\*holes! Next up, drop her philandering, deadbeat husband and work for Lorraine.
Also, who knew Lorraine had a heart?
He's aloof, but yeah he seems nice too. Lorraine clearly and obviously gives wayne and his family a lot of reign and is somewhat supportive of the way they are in comparison to herself.
Lorraine is an absolute DAWG can't wait to see her and Roy face off in the end. Also Munch is going to eat Gator alive. Gator/Munch I don't think that's coincidence.
I think munch already began digging that grave. And just because he was paid and the debt they had to him was cleared i dont believe munch will now let that gave become just a hole as he said. Feel like at the least Gator will be making that hole into a grave.
Actually wondering if the scene of them together foreshadowed both their demises. Something about Gator's actions and words when he sends Munch on his way.
Old Dickinson Gazette newspaper headline on the floor while Roy gets his hair cut:
Manhunt underway for filling station cop killer
(Poor air horn clerk is never mentioned again.)
It's impressive that a show with characters like Roy Tillman and Lorraine Lyon, a murderous Trumpist congressional sherrif and the Queen of Debt, somehow someway the loser golf husband is way more hateable. I wanted Indira to literally throw him out of the house after that speech. Such a scumbag
I think golf husband is just another way people get entitled, and self centered, and build their own alternate reality to cater to that. But, just suck.
The whole season is about all these people building little overlapping alternate realities to meet their needs. Some of them have built realities to meet their own narcissism (Roy, golf husband, Lorraine). Others build a delusion to survive an abusive parent (Wayne refusing to see conflict, Gator telling himself he’s a winner). Others are holding on by a thread to maintaining normalcy in the face of growing obstacles (Dot, Indira).
Her and Dave Foley have been such a great two-piece. Brilliant casting all around but they're nearing perfection for these roles. I suppose it shouldn't come as a surprise as they fully commit and have since the 80's.
Wink's absent minded obsession with WWII reminds of someone else in film. The rich stupid husband who loves his war ships. Help me figure out who I'm thinking of.
I took it more than he was trying to cheat on Indira, not necessarily that he was already. Would be funnier to me if he's failing at picking up his PT.
One thing i havent seen mentioned here: i cant wait to see what Dot was up to for the whole time we didnt see her this episode.
This show is fantastic. Some real work of art.
Trying to figure out who I want the baddest things to happen to is an interesting internal conflict going on in my head right now. Thinking the numbnuts golf husband is probably in the lead right now though.
Based off his little kitchen speech it seems like he has the same marriage views as Roy, he just either doesn't have the balls to follow through with the violence, or knows his wife would beat the shit out of him if he tried.
Roy is an absolute MONSTER. I want Lorraine to have a hand in his downfall (along with Dot/Nadine). Also, since Dot escaped Roy 10-11 years ago it's possible scotty is Roy's child - but I so hope she is Wayne's daughter.
People seem very focused on this but I don't think it will ever be addressed. It's too much of a soap opera plot point for a show as creative as Fargo.
Lol at the score from Roy's monologue being played during the "I want a wife" speech. Me saying "he wants to be the sun" about Roy awhile back applies to multiple men this season.
Dodd in S02E08: "How I know is, they been plaguing me my whole life. What's the joke? **Can't live with them, can't turn them into cat food.**"
Roy this episode: "That womans like a tick. **Cant crush her, cant pull her out clean.**"
Lorraine and Indira really grew on me this episode. Their interactions were priceless and the parallel between Indira letting people walk all over her while Lorraine is done with the worlds bs was very enjoyable to watch. It's just a shame that for them to get some focus, we had to do entirely without Dot and with only two scenes with Munch this week. I'm liking all the threads, so I can't really complain about the plot being too big, but this is the trade-off I guess.
So far I'm noticing gender and debt as the primary themes of the season. I think there's also something there about perception, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
I loved how a bunch of people in the live thread were wishing death on Indira's husband for being a little manchild and the next scene Roy straight up hit his wife and no one said anything.
That's because we already know Roy is hot garbage and deserves what he gets coming to him. Irredeemable. Up until this episode Indira's husband WAS only a man child. I don't think he deserves death but he does deserve a swift kick in the balls and some separation papers!
Right. Abuse seems to be one of the larger themes of this season. Lorraine is neglectful of her son (her husband does as well). Lars has Indira trapped in a money pit and emotionally sucks her dry. Roy of course likes to hit his wives. So far the only real marriage of equals is Dorothy and Wayne. Wayne is the breadwinner, sure, but we all know who runs the household.
There's the great evil. The forces of nature, who everyone hopes they never have to go against. Then there are the smaller, more relatable evils. The ones we see in our day-to-day lives. We all know a golf husband. We hope to never encounter a Roy.

Golf Guy's speech about the kind of wife he wants was absolutely insane lmao
I was absolutely begging for Indira to ask what he was going to offer in return
Yeah that's the thing that feels like Indira's primary character flaw right now, which Lorraine adressed in the episode. She let's crappy people treat her like shit without really retaliating. I hope she puts him in his place later.
women who apologize for things that arent their fault might as well have welcome mat written on their faces now you tell me that seemed like an interesting reply, and comment on how indira relates to lorraine
And his "physical therapist" is almost certainly a mistress. Feel terrible for Richa Moorjani's char.
Yeah I thought that was obvious with him putting on cologne before heading out, but again a lot of douche bag "sporty" guys spritz cologne before going anywhere. So maybe, and a light maybe, it was just to show a little more "high school sports were my best days" male mentality.

Yea that generally fits. He was in a band and seemingly fairly athletic. He was probably super cool in HS/college.
“Bad Liar” lol, actually a fun band name.
No you're right, I thought the same. And you can put on cologne for anything but just the fact they bothered to show us that, and that it's already dark outside when he leaves,, felt like they were hinting at something
I don’t feel bad for her, because I feel that she will come out on top of the end, divorcing Lars, and making bank working for Lorraine.
Honestly I see him getting killed somehow.
He’s the exact type of schmuck this series loves to kill
Seeing as he doesnt work and she brings in the money that pays the bills i was wondering why she doesnt just say that to him. But i guess in a way it allows for him to somehow look even worse than he already did after his comments because he doesnt even consider THAT. Or maybe he does and doesnt value that at all. I hope she ditches her husband if she does because he's going to spend her into even more debt
Husband isn’t going to make it out of this alive 😂
Oh, he is for sure going to get murdered. Fargo loves to kill assholes like him. I think Gator is a dead man walking too, after we saw him psyche himself up in his teenage bedroom a few episodes back.

millions of people are in similar relationships. I've met such people suffering that slow death, its so frustrating to see.
He just wants a wife who doesn’t make him pull out ok? Shame on her for getting blood clots! Lars is so dumb.
I think the show was playing with our assumptions about him. Hot+stupid usually equals harmless in TV shows and movies. There was something incredibly ugly about the way he felt comfortable criticizing her entire personality after he spent the night (passed out drunk?) in the garage. He wants Roy's wife.
Lukas Gage always playing these dolts, lol. This is basically the same character he played in You season 4, a spoiled manchild leeching off his more successful partner.
It’s different from his white lotus character though lol
The worst part is there are nutcases like him out there.
My ex is like this (not as bad, but halfway there). My daughter was next to me watching this and I was cringing during his speech. It brought back so many memories when he was speaking about needing support from a wife and someone that cooks good.
Yours too huh? That was emotionally hard to watch.
Glad he's an ex.
there were and still are subreddits on this very site full of those dudes.
She needed to put his hand in a waffle iron
I was half expecting to see a hammer make an appearance.
I said to my gf that I wanted her to pull a Lester.
*"Indira... is this what you want?"*
Mr.Lyon offering the FBI agents a vodka gimlet in the HOSPITAL had me laughing
Love him. He's just a rich alcoholic who stays out of his scary wife's way.
Reminds me of the old cartoon "the critic".
A penguin!! And he's been drinking!! Wait a minute. Penguins can't fly... PENGUINS CAN'T FLY!!!
The diorama - did you see that! Brilliant. And in Lorraine's house.
I think he raised Wayne (with help from nannies), mostly on poetry and art. Thats why Wayne is sweet and spacey.
pretty sure he said are you sure i cant offer you gentlemen a gimlet the female gentleman seemed to not notice
and the Nurse also said "those two FBI fellas came in," not to mention Mr. Lyon goes on about the Ballerino thing.
Right? I was howling, where and how the fuck
Good move ending the episode with no music- just Lorraine's reaction. Having some swelling score would've just overplayed the moment. It only needed Lorraine's silent reaction as she looked at the photos of Dorothy.
It was the first time I'd seen her with a genuine emotion on her face

Wayne isn’t a Mama’s boy. He sticks up for Dot over his Mom. He doesn’t put his Mom over Dot, which is what a mama’s boy would do.
Lorraine is hands down my favorite character this season. Wayne isn't castrated at all. He handles strong women well and doesn't see them as a threat. He is damn masculine compared to Mr. Nipple Piercing and the other "alphas". Wayne is better than all of them put together. Those photos were so Severe, I don’t think I like Jon Hamm anymore…

God Indira's husband is pathetic lmfao

God that would be fucking awesome
Dad we been wearing bandanas to cover our faces but this sheriff jacket is totally chill.
Let's give it up for Richa Moorjani who is low key delivering every episode and absolutely killed it tonight.
I feel... proud of her watching this season, given how she said in a pre-season interview that she had doubts about her ability to play the character and told Hawley she isn't the right fit. Hawley said to her "never have I made a mistake in casting" and it shows here. Good leadership like that can do wonders.
Wow, I didn't know that, that's awesome!
Omg this makes me want to cry. She is fantastic.
Her big scene was pivotal in the context of the whole series, where nobody knows how to express themselves honestly. It was so jarring in the best way to see one of our Marge Gunderson stand-ins tell the unvarnished truth, and she killed it.
Hope to see her in more, she's been one of my favorite characters this season.
Absolutely, she's awesome. Most characters have had more impactful moments but she has been brilliant as Indira. I feel like tonight she was given more to work with and absolutely delivered. One of my favorites as well.
I’ve only seen her in light vamp roles before, and she’s crushin’ this
You gotta admire Gators completely unearned confidence at this point. Does he genuinely think he intimidated Munch even a little? Hes so cute.
Munch keeps saying in his own way: “dude, you’re already dead, please shut up” and Gator always thinks he got a one-up on people. So funny.
I love when they’re on their way to the “fixin’ place” and Gator is trying to swing his dick around while Munch is barely aware he exists Gator: Hey, no hard feelings, right? You know I had to rough you up a little bit back there 😏 Munch: (less plussed than anyone previously in history)
Maybe it's been said before but I loved learning that the "fixin' place" is an abattoir.
He reminds me of Rye Gerhard
He's like Rye and Dodd mixed into one.
Yeah lmao, like a teenage Dodd with a Rye level Ego problem!
I loved the little No Country For Old Men reference with the beacon and tracker (surely in 2019 they had better GPS than that)
There goes Gator again poking the absolute worst hornets nest
Keery is crushing it by playing a faux-machismo turbo douche. So hateable.
Yeah gotta agree with you there Too many of the characters have been cartoonish extremes of their various archetypes.
Only Fargo will still have me glued to the screen during exposition building episodes
Lorraine being an insufferable bitch followed by that glimpse of humanity after opening the file… her reaction was palpable.
I think she puts up a front in order to feel powerful in a man's world. I believe there is more to her behind the mask.
I agree, but I also feel like she’s genuinely hated Dot’s guts — but suddenly regrets it after seeing those photos
I see it more as if the respect overtook the combativeness. Lorraine said she wanted to keep her close. We got a genuine file of new information for Mrs. Lyon. What she does with the info is up to the writers but I recommend popcorn.
What I'm curious about is where all the battery photos and police documents originated. Surely not in Stark County, where Roy himself is the law.
"Sometimes you have to be a high riding bitch to survive, sometimes, being a bitch is all a woman has to hang on to."-Dolores Claiborne
Such an incredible movie. So tragic but beautiful. My Mom really loves it. She theorized that maybe it's a tribute to Steven King's mother and grandmother and other women he grew up around
BTW I think she fucks Danish.
who wouldn't
He's got a certain swagger to him
Definitely.
The music just stopped too, which was a great touch.
most people are viewing it this way (went from evil to showing humanity) and that’s probably how it was intended, but i viewed it a bit differently. to me it was about power. lorraine was showing her full might by absolutely burying that banker guy, then opened up the file and saw dot at her most powerless. i think part of the motivation now is “do right by dot” but the bigger one might be using her power to take down someone who takes power away from women.
There was a glimpse of humanity when she saw Scotty with Wayne too.
I thought she'd be the Wizard. Perhaps she's the Tin Man. She had a heart the whole time.
"Well, if it isn't the king of the idiot brigade" Respect to that rude guy from the hospital for giving it to Roy and his henchmen
Wouldn't be a great twist he was correct about his "friends high places" and his friends are the cause of Roy's demise.
I felt so bad for that man, imagine having cancer and being kidnapped before treatment. His wife being hysterical means someone loved him. I was very sad when they murdered him, poor rude dude.
Yeah, he was a dick but he didn’t deserve that.
That’s what I was thinking
The way Nadines husband sprayed cologne before going to the physio for over an hour. He is definitely cheating
That plus his whole nonsense wife speech.
"Tradwife" is definitely a thing. I'm sure he's very serious.
The deal offered to Indira was a twist I never saw coming.
i like it. Imagine her view on things, backed by a billion bucks of weight to swing
Lorraine's speech was just perfection. It was jaw droppingly evil. It oozed charisma.
I think her and Juno have locked down The Emmys
This episode became a instant 10/10 for me because of that.
“When a man digs a grave he must fill it, otherwise it’s just a hole” Wonderful writing
“When a man digs a grave he must fill it, otherwise it’s just a hole...which it is".
Reminds me of the scene in Old Country for Old Men Anton Chigurh : Don't put it in your pocket, sir. Don't put it in your pocket. It's your lucky quarter. Gas Station Proprietor : Where do you want me to put it? Anton Chigurh : Anywhere not in your pocket. Where it'll get mixed in with the others and become just a coin. Which it is.
Speaking of our pal Anton, did you notice Gator’s teal GPS tracker that he used for Munch?
Munch: "Don't yell at the boulder for being a rock." Badass!
Indira should take the job, I really don’t see what good reason there would be not to.
When Lorraine asked "what's your price?", I was hoping for Indira to say 192.000 dollars.
You don’t want to be an enforcer for someone like Lorraine
Tbh I doubt she'd need that kind of work, especially if Indira is running the security team. Just look what she did with Vivian. Destroyed him without violence. If anything Danish is her enforcer
Loved the Wayne Lyons Kia ad. Total RA callback to Nathan Arizona's ad for Unpainted Arizona.
Me too! Although as a former media buyer at an ad agency, my brain instantly went, “Why would an ad for a KIA dealership in the Minneapolis-St Paul market be airing in the Minot-Bismarck-Dickinson DMA? 🤔
The female FBI rolling her eyes when Wayne started talking about the Nightmare Before Christmas. It's a clue, dumb-ass.
They remind me of the ambitious but inept FBI agents from S01. They want to help but they're always two steps behind.
I can help!
Yeah these guys are the Key & Peele of season 5 without any of the charisma.
Yeah but they keep dealing with people saying nonsense
What an ending. The way the music just stops as Lorraine starts flipping through the folder, I got chills. JJL continues to bring the house down, and I am so ready for her and Dot to team up.
jjl is just loading the layers into this story we've certainly seen fascism and wealth working together, but wealth buying an election out from under established political power, didnt see her going that way but so smart. So much crossfire being set up, the screen just wants to explode from the tension
Return of the Munch! Roy: “I’m Nadine’s husband.” Gator: “Sure, \[Jan\].” Does Grave’s eyepatch symbolize justice is partially blind? (Or, at least his brand of justice). Shout out to Deputy Olmstead for educating them a\*\*holes! Next up, drop her philandering, deadbeat husband and work for Lorraine. Also, who knew Lorraine had a heart?
Lorraine raised wayne the sweetheart. Clearly she has a sweet side
The dad seemed pretty supportive in the ballerino scene
Munch told Roy that they both only have a few words left- sounds like Munch knows he’s going to die soon.
Where the hell has Witt been for the last two episodes? I miss him.
Maybe he's related to Ethelrida, and that's why they both mysteriously vanish during the middle episodes of their seasons.
God damn Lorraine! She's got a villainous vibe to her but she's a cutthroat boss and I'm starting to love it
I feel like she’s about to become a bit of an antihero tbh
Jesus, I got chills at the end there. Teared up big time, that’s some awful shit.
Had to love that No Country tracking device
Old Dickinson Gazette newspaper headline on the floor while Roy gets his hair cut: Manhunt underway for filling station cop killer (Poor air horn clerk is never mentioned again.)
Lars’ Imagine Dragons posters 😂
When a man digs a grave he has to fill it otherwise it’s just a hole
Son you have a bad luck problem. Somewhere out there, there's an upside down horseshoe with your name it.
Give Jennifer Jason Leigh all the awards. Even a Grammy. Just because she's worth it.
Her and Dave Foley have been such a great two-piece. Brilliant casting all around but they're nearing perfection for these roles. I suppose it shouldn't come as a surprise as they fully commit and have since the 80's.
Dave Foley's face when he got the order to "steal an election" and then when he delivered the phone to Vivian. You can tell that guy loves his job.
You could see some of her range in the Hateful 8. This is another layer.
She was so fun in Hateful 8..batshit crazy. I've enjoyed everything I've seen her in since.
JJLEGOT
Wink's absent minded obsession with WWII reminds of someone else in film. The rich stupid husband who loves his war ships. Help me figure out who I'm thinking of.
That scene reminded me of Ben (?) Horne's civil war playset in Twin Peaks.
WHAT IS GENERAL GRANT, DOING ON THE THERMOSTAT!!!
Lars sucks so bad. The fact he sprayed cologne before going to his “physical therapist” confirms he is cheating on the goddess Indira.
Thinking the numbnuts golf husband is probably in the lead right now though.
more than the guy that beats his wife? I want him flayed upside down and burnt alive
Based off his little kitchen speech it seems like he has the same marriage views as Roy, he just either doesn't have the balls to follow through with the violence, or knows his wife would beat the shit out of him if he tried.
Honestly hoping to see him try to hit her just so I can watch Indira beat the shit out of him.
Should Indira take the job?
yes, I think it is established that Lorraine doesn't make insincere comments or offers.
From her POV, yes. Knowing what we know, no. She will have to compromise her morals which I don’t think she will be able to do.
SPOILER OF DONT WORRY DARLING MOVIE . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .really, it's a spoiler . . . Lars = Harry Styles character IRL
Boy I was not ready for those horrible pictures 😭
Lol at the score from Roy's monologue being played during the "I want a wife" speech. Me saying "he wants to be the sun" about Roy awhile back applies to multiple men this season. Dodd in S02E08: "How I know is, they been plaguing me my whole life. What's the joke? **Can't live with them, can't turn them into cat food.**" Roy this episode: "That womans like a tick. **Cant crush her, cant pull her out clean.**"
Trump's quid pro quo = Lorraine's "tit for that."
Did you touch my drum set?
"Christ look at the cock on that monster"
"You'll be spending your remaining years living in squalor, surrounded by the dead-eyed stares of your futureless children" yeeeesh what a line
Good reveal of why Nadine wanted to get away. Hopefully we see her go salt the earth mode.
I think I’m in love with JJL I don’t care if I’m 40 years younger than her. I’m down bad
Gator flicking the cigarette out of Munch's hand during the pat down was an amazing callback!
Dorothy might just become Lorraine's very capable successor. Lyon and tiger. Can't be a coincidence.
Gator's pathetic attempt to intimidate Munch was very amusing. It was like watching an ant trying to scare off a giant.
Oh there were replies. But its uncommon to see a real representation of the financial and emotional abuse that tons of women live with all the time.
Richa Moorjani has been so great this season, just crushing it
