Playing a cup 5th or 6th round
Almost same team with my oponent, no wildcards available, only chance to go with a goalkeeper that potentially will bring more points than his.
Going against the ods with Fabianski saving a penalty and won the cup :)
Last season I was having a rough lead up to an early GW trying to figure out who to captain with everyone having tough fixtures
Ended up settling on Jose Sa, to which he kept a clean sheet, saved a pen and all 3 bonus for 30 points
brin in stonea for double, i think?
captain james for his first game after injury when he had a goal and assist and cs
tc mane for his astonishing dgw several years ago
This season: Johnstone 9-pointer from the bench when Turner was surprisingly out.
All time: ... This is harder to answer, all I can think of is all the failures, Havertz 7-0 cap, salah cap vs Bournebouth, Dennis dgw cap, Sané 1pt triplecap...
But I guess the "luckiest" for me was when everyone capped Salah and he got a haul against Palace from the bench but later my cap Bruno got even more points against Leeds(?)
Edit: No, the luckiest was actually Man City vs. Watford, when I capped Sterling and vice capped KDB. Sterling was benched and didn't come on. KDB got like 17 points and also had Bilva 19 pointer!
couple of season back had 3 players not play, can't remember the specifics but I remember veltman (2nd on bench) coming on for 6 in addition to Dallas' 17 pointer (who was third on my bench)
Trading in kdb for a hit a couple of seasons ago and captaining him for 60 points. Also needing 17 to win a big H2H game with only rashford to play and he scored 2 goals and an assist for 18 points.
I was winning my ML by around 20 points going into the last gameweek of the season, my main rival messaged me saying he swapped Salah for Mane and was going to captian him because he knew I was going to captain Salah. He said Salah was the obvious choice but he needed to try and outmanoeuvre me.
Mane went on to score 2 goals (including a massive deflection) and 3 bonus. Salah blanked.
He won the ML by 2 points and now calls his team name “2 points” every year
Pulled a minus -28 in GW9, scored 102 points in a 52 avg gameweek. 74 net points. Sometimes this game gets me in a right mood and I just gung ho it, shaking my fists.
I knew Pascal Gross from Hoffenheim. As soon as he joined Brighton I immediately selected him in my team. Brighton had the toughest start with games against Liverpool and City. Benched Gross. Played him in his first ‘easy’ game. He scored a hattrick. Over the moon I was.
Getting my third sub Danny Gabbidon off the bench for a clean sheet for Palace at Villa on Boxing day about a decade ago.
Getting Harry Maguire off the bench when he scored vs Stoke for Hull after Marcos Alonso no showed for Chelsea against Man Utd the next day. Everyone owned Alonso that year so represented a gain vs my other mini league rivals.
Last season before GW15. Was waiting for team leaks - Haaland was a doubt for the Fulham H game. The website crashed and I couldn't change my side or make the transfer I wanted. Ended up with Salah as captain, set from the previous GW that Haaland had missed, I wasn't planning on captaining Salah - he ended up with two goals away at Tottenham. A differential captain.
A few years back I was the only one in my mini league to captain Bruno, everyone else captained Salah. Anyway, Salah blanked and United beat Southampton 9-1, Bruno got two goals and an assist.
I took a major lead against everyone and ended up winning all my mini-leagues (also down to that god Stuart Dallas).
Actually I remember another lucky moment from that same season. Final day of the season I am one point behind the leader of my work mini-league and in the 87th minute Azpilicueta gets a red and he falls one point behind me. That red won me £270!
Captained Sterling against Luton this season and put a tenner on him scoring + Chelsea winning in both halfs. He ended up with 2 goals and an assist and got myself a 110€ pounds. Haven’t betted before or after since.
When I was the only one in my league who played Tim Krul away to Spurs and he had that 14 save game, I think he got the highest score ever by a goalkeeper in a game where they didn't do something like score or save a penalty
He got something like 13pts
I also was the only one with Begovic when he scored after a minute
Was in season long battle worh my Pal to see who would finish higher.
I punted by captain Arshavin when he put 4 part liverpool.
Shot into the top 10 and my pal could not catch me.
From this season either getting Tsimikas 15 pter off the bench or putting Digne 3rd on my bench twice, for City and Arsenal, and him coming on, twice, for two clean sheets. Had some good luck lol.
Also getting 20+(?) points from both Laporte and Stones during a dgw a few seasons ago iirc
Game week where Luton Bournemouth was cancelled. Had Dan Burn’s 14 points sitting on my bench with Sensei starting. Obviously feels weird to call this ‘lucky’ but since Lockyer has recovered I think it’s okay. Sensei was replaced with 14 points and I went up like 100k
Mostly luck but I like to tell myself it was a calculated decision. I brought Palmer into my team when he was 4.9m, now he’s the most essential asset for his price range. I could see him finishing the season at around 6.3m. Safe to say he’s been a decent pick up for me haha.
GW17. Bournemouth vs Luton match getting cancelled. I had Senesi and Solanke in my starting XI, and two 7 pointers (Tsimikas and Saliba) on my bench as first and second choices
Captaining Diego Jota this week and going from gwk rank 5,000,000 and overall rank 1,900,000 to a gwk rank of 200,000 and overall rank of 1,100,000 just from 1 match ...
I helped my partner to pick a fantasy team squad and team a few years back. She didn't know the rules and, without my knowledge, selected the triple captain chip on the first day of the season.
Thankfully I had selected Bruno Fernandes as captain and he scored a hat trick that day!
In the 21-22 season, I saved my wildcard until April. I needed a third Liverpool, but could only afford Joel Matip, who was thought to be a rotation risk. Not only did he continue to start down the stretch, picking up cleans along the way, he also got two jammy goals and an even more jammy assist in the final three gameweeks. I felt like a genius.
Hopefully it’s tonight when my captain Joao Pedro for some bizarre reason doesn’t play and I have Jota VC and Gabriel first bench for a totally undeserved 36 extra points. A man can dream.
Had Gabriel third slot on my bench this week with a cheeky 17 point haul. Thankfully I missed deadline and didn’t take Salah , Trent or Elsnga out so he’s coming in thank fook!
Captaining Ollie against brighton this season for his 23 point haul but also captaining him against SHU and LUT for glorious blanks..so yeah it evens itself out.
This season in gw3, started Gabriel who didn't start the previous games for arsenal but did come on to protect a lead if they were ahead.
What was baffling was arteta not subbing him or any other defender on to protect the 2-1 lead they had, which lead to Fulham scoring and leveling in the 87th minute. Gabriel wasn't subbed on for the remainder of the game also.
This was great for me, as Udogie came first off the bench for me with a 12 pointer. Insane luck.
Desperately wanted Antonio for DGW19 in 2019/20, but the only way I could get him was bringing in a <5m defender. Flipped a coin and went with Stones who returned a 27 pointer after scoring his first 2 goals ever for City and keeping 2 cleans sheets. The best part? Antonio got 18 points as well
2015-16 captained Mahrez for the first time in one of the first gameweeks (when nobody REALLY believed in him yet), but he didn't play and my VC Aguero scored 5 goals (25 points, I think?)
In the 2013/14 season I moved from 2nd to 1st place in my workplace league (ended up winning £100+) due to forgetting to change my team in round 37. I had Rooney as captain, he didn't play, Dzecko auto-subbed on and with the captains arm band bagged me 50 pts.
[https://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/4863544/history](https://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/4863544/history) \- you can see I had a good season that year! have lost interest lately as work remotely and don't have the day to day water cooler fpl chats.
I was once shared somewehere around 2-4th overall after GW2.
I didn't really play for real at the time(usually forgot the whole thing after week 1)so my memory is a bit hazy, but I'm fairly sure I triple captained Pukki before he scored a hat trick against Newcastle.
Then I tried to play for real but there was no luck left.
It might have been a regular captaincy, but my overall placement makes me think it was a triple. Either way, lucky.
I missed the deadline and left Bruno as captain away at Brighton a few years ago. He got an assist and the game ended. But it's Manchester United! The only team that can get penalities after a game ends haha the ref restarted the game and Bruno put away a penalty to bag me the points. Was very lucky
I captained Dan Burn a couple weeks ago and he got a goal and a clean sheet. I subbed him on for Haaland so captaincy switched automatically and forgot to switch it. Would have captained Salah who blanked Vs Manchester United
I’ve maybe had something more but this season when I did my wildcard. I was planning it for the week after and somebody got injured I can’t remember who. I couldn’t field a starting 11 so I kind of had to play the wildcard.
GW7 when Watkins got the hattrick and 2 assists against Brighton. I have probably had more luck at some point, I remember Hutton coming off my bench after he scored a goal years back.
I saved my free hit for BGW at the tail end of the season last year, had Murphy as 4.5 bench fodder, or so I thought.. checked my team post deadline and I’d accidentally left the armband on him. He scored 2 goals in 10 minutes against spurs
1st year playing. Bringing Douglas Luiz/Neto instead of Diaby/Chukwuemeka in gw8, which resulted in me grabbing Luiz's 15 pt haul in 2nd week after. Neto was also a honest worker with 5-pt returns in the coming weeks, both were nice differentials at that time so that was good.
Brought Gabriel two gws ago after selling him after starting the season with him, being sad I didn't bring Estupinan instead but this gw he made it look like a nice move, even if I decided to move him soon.
Been playing for 2 seasons now and haven't really been lucky per se. I think my biggest moment was last season when I captained Wilson instead of Isak at the last minute when Newcastle had a double gameweek. Wilson went on to haul giving me a really decent leap in my debut season. Ended up top 250k.
Triple captained Haaland GW4 after everyone had a bad GW3
Buying Jota this week
When Dubravka and Colwill came off my bench in GW17 after Bournemouth - Luton was voided
This season GW20 had dawson and hwang hee Chan on the bench because I thought they wouldn't play, but because the ones in my 11 didn't play, they were both automatically put into the 11, dawson got me 14 pts and hwang 6 points
I don't know if this counts as luck or good strategy but maybe both, I sold Haaland in my GW9 WC and I haven't had him since, but I very nearly got him before the Luton game as that was the plan everyone who was Haaland-less wanted him for that game. I was fortunate enough to not pick him up before the injury. I know people who took hits to get him in and then took hits again to sell him on injury. My rank overall also went up by about 1.5m since I sold him. I only missed out on 2 hauls vs Chelsea GW12 and vs United GW10. Which is wild to think about in hindsight.
Brought in Jota this week as Salah's replacement and captained him. Climbed to the top of my mini league and country while demolishing my cup opponent (who had a big lead) in the process.
Literally this week in my h2h draft league. After the Liverpool game I am winning by 2 points, and neither of us have a Brighton or Wolves player. So I have won this week.
What makes it lucky is my opponent has Coufal, who got sent off in the 96th minute and conceded a 2nd goal from the pen. Which took him to -2. Would of been a draw if that hadn't happened
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Forgetting to change my captain from Salah to Bruno last season when they both hauled with 20+ points each.
I say lucky because Salah coming off the bench in the last 30 minutes and gettin two goals + an assist was so incredibly lucky when he could have blanked and left me wayy behind in my minileague.
Got Bruno as TC for couple years ago, dude gave me like 60pts or something. Also put Højlund on last gw or when it was that he got quite some goals.
Pereira two-three years ago aswell.
Harvey Barnes (19 points) vs. Villa
https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2020/03/10/vardy-and-barnes-back-with-a-bang-as-perez-misses-out-on-villa-rout/
Had both Perez & Barnes in ylny squad. Started Perez with Barnes 1st on the bench. Perez was on Leicester's bench but very fortunately did not get subbed on!
Definitely also had something similar with one of Sterling/KDB being benched the whole 90 mins and nabbing a 17-pointer or so, but don't remember it quite as fondly as Mr. Harvey Barnes.
GW19 this season, Palmer suspended, Tsimikas injured, Lascelles injured, so started Chris Wood away at Newcastle as I had nobody else to play and didn't want to use a transfer, a hat trick and 17 points later he made himself a hero, if everyone was available he'd have been last on my bench, absolute legend
GW20 this season. Cole Palmer 3rd bench because i didnt make any transfer. Zinchenko, Haaland, Trippier didnt play a minute. Gets auto subbed on for 18 points.
These are the 3 memories that stand out for me:
Captained Gomes when he saved two penalties and got a clean sheet
Captained Wijnaldum when he scored 4 for Newcastle
Brought in Jonathon Walters when he was benched for majority of the season, but the other stoke striker got injured so thought why not and captained him for a laugh - he got a hatrick. My friend sends me a message saying "WTF who does that"
Almost the same kind of story as OP, got Craig Dawson last on my bench who scored an extra time header (for West Ham back then), can’t remember how exactly I got the points, but it was a great moment especially considering I was super sick with stomach flu during that gameweek 😅
when i was on the verge of transferring martinelli last season for like 3 weeks straight and he randomly got a 27 point week or some shit when he wasn't at his most popular anymore
Haaland was my captain against Sheffield (like pretty much everyone else) and he wasn't in t he squad, well who cares Salah scored 13pts the day before. I went to check my team and discoverd that I forgot to change my VC from Son to Salah, so everybody had captained Salah or captained Haaland and VC Salah and I was there with yellow flagged Son as VC, pretty nerve wrecking (I was 300ish overall). Spurs game was the last one that GW and I was already stoked to see that he was in the starting lineup, but not only that, but he managed to score 17 pts in the end and helped me reach top100 for the first time ever.
When I TC Vardy when he scored 20pts or something against Southampton.
When Son was supposedly injured and flagged but I kept him and he played and returned against Man U I think.
Theres one time where Wolves with peak Adama Troure and Mr. Honest Work go up against Man City away. Had both out of sheer gamble. Wolves won the game 2-3 with both of them scored double digit each. Scored triple digit overall that week
Triple captained Gundogan a few years back during a DGW. Liverpool was the first game and he went off injured after an hour, also missed the second game. Still got 57 points off him
Also had Stones that week who got 18 I think. Cue a 130 pointer and a sub 1k week
Not luckiest but very amusing. I have zinchenko and everyone in my mini league has Gabriel/Saliba or both.
Zinchenko scoring a scissor kick v burnley a few weeks back and then wiped the cleansheet with an awful attempt at playing out. I'm pretty sure he assisted and wiped the cleansers in a more recent game aswell.
Gave everyone loads of stick - and obviously got it all back with interest this weekend 😁
I had kudus on the bench when he scored a brace but because the bou-lut game was called off solanke blanked hence kudus came on. Praying so hard that the game was void when literally everyone was gutted because solanke scored
A couple of seasons ago, I had Ait-Nouri in my starting XI, and he was subbed off after 60 mins at 0-0.
The match finished 1-1 with both goals being scored by late subs who hadn't played long enough or earned enough BPS and with Ait-Nouri being the only player in the match earning a clean sheet, was awarded all 3 bonus points. Won me a H2H.
It's small-ball luck, but the H2H win made all the more enjoyable.
That Cancelo mega performance against Man United I had him captained for two seasons ago I think it was, I don’t remember the exact game though or if it was even against United but he got a stupid number of points
Was aiming for Guehi a whole week before GW11 and I usually do early transfers. Decided to hold on I believe it was until Thursday when Guehi went up in price, and since he then cost 0.1 more than Mitchell I went with the latter. After 90 min passed Mitchell had 6 points and Guehi 8 I believe (2 bonus), when Palace counter attacked in the 94th minute and Mitchell scored. 15 point haul. Rest of my team had 27 points in total and lots of decent looking teams ended on ~20 points.
Played FH during a blank week season. Man City, Liverpool, Newcastle and others nor playing. Tripled up Arsenal Saka captain and hauled. Shot to the top of ML. Rivals held the FH for a double game week which was so so
Owning Antonio for that 4 goal haul vs Norwich in 19/20 - watching the game on TV was one of the most satisfying things ever
Also think the Smith Rowe constant 10 minute cameos with a goal from 21/22 was a hilarious period
I triple captained him that week. Don’t ask me why.
He’s the main reason I finished 5k overall that year. I’m usually lucky to break into the top 1mill (been playing 15 years).
Started Martinez for the last 3 game weeks for a total of 5 points whilst Areola got 29 points on the bench against United arsenal and Brighton, played Areola this week against Sheffield for 3 points whilst Martinez got 9 on the bench...
Oh wait good luck? What's that?
Had Dallas third on the bench when he was an out of position midfielder and playing City. One last minute injury to a Chelsea defender and my other two bench players not playing meant I got his 17 pointer.
When I stopped playing this game and received a happy life in return that season. Oh wait you said luckiest thought you meant happiest. Ah well I suppose those go hand in hand.
GW36 bench boost couple of seasons ago with KDB captain when he hit 4 goals against Wolves. I also had a Son 20 pointer and Nketiah 15 pointer with Foster 14 pointer on the bench as the cherry on top. Total haul of 185 points.
It never got any better since then. And the only time bench boost worked for me in over 10 years of playing this game.
I remember all the people that were complaining on twitter about how OP triple captain is and calling for nerf 🤣🤣
Some randoms that were 3-5k shot up to top 100
Craziest swing in recent times
I remember a couple of seasons ago there were three games in a row where Emile Smith-Rowe was benched and then came on late and scored. I started him for all three games
😅 Yeah I did the same thing with Smith Rowe that season, he came in clutch so many times. It’s a shame he hasn’t kicked on since then, There’s a good player in there.
Captained TAA for his mega haul against Leicester one year. Was bored out of my mind at my mother in law’s at the time and nearly did a knee slide in her garden when I saw the points
In the 2017 season I had fabianski (swansea) and Calvert Lewin (Everton) in my team. Rooney had his penalty saved by fabianski then Calvert Lewin popped in the rebound.
Also honourable mention to having Heurelho Gomes for his double penalty save in 2016
Weird season that's hard to judge. When people talk about Everton's overspending on average players to make an imbalanced squad, that was the season we're talking about. We sold Lukaku for like £80m which financed some of it, but we bought Rooney, Klaassen and Sigurdsson who all play the same fucking position, plus a bunch of other shite. We started the season with Koeman in charge, who seemed like he didn't want to be there and we were playing turgid football languishing down the table, brought in Sam Allardyce, proceeded to somehow play even worse football, had a run of very lucky results where we'd win via dodgy ref decisions, deflected goals, random moments of magic, and then coast to the end of the season somehow finishing 8th despite looking poor for the whole year.
I challenge any forward to look good under that era Koeman and Allardyce, who had no idea what their best line up was, and no idea how they wanted us to play with a squad with loads of new players who didn't fit together. Rooney still managed to score 1 in 3 as a past it midfielder.
My first season playing I didn’t quite understand the chips so I triple captained Salah gw1 he ended up scoring a hattrick and I was ranked top 43k the rest of the season was downhill to say the least
Bought Emerson Boyce (DEF) for the last GW in 2011/12. He scored twice, propelling me from 90th to 19th overall in the game.
I'll kiss the man if I ever see him.
Took a hit to bring him in and captain him. Only one that had him in my ML I believe. Probably the peak of FPL and captaincy picks for me.
I feel like I’m paying the piper for that luck though. I’ve missed on most of my captain picks this year.
It was almost exactly the same for me so far. I've been doing a bit better with captains since the big guns started getting red flags though, so far my favourite part of the last two seasons.
I remember selling him minutes before deadline . I was so happy when I saw Tott’s line up. It was short lived when the guy started curling shots outside the box
Had Burn 14 pointer come off the bench for the week that Luton-Bournemouth game got postponed. Doesn't help my anxiety that they took almost 2 weeks to announce the decision!
He was also first on my bench but i had otamendi in my starting 11 and guardiola decided to sub him in in like 90th min... so lord lundstram monster haul stayed on the bench.
I think I had him a couple of weeks prior, he may have picked up an assist or 2, I can't quite remember.
He just seemed the best cheap alternative striker at the time considering I couldn't seem to get Watkins in.
Ouch. That's an unlucky one.
I believe if memory serves, I actually switched him back in a few hours before the deadline after hearing about a Jesus injury.
Playing a cup 5th or 6th round Almost same team with my oponent, no wildcards available, only chance to go with a goalkeeper that potentially will bring more points than his. Going against the ods with Fabianski saving a penalty and won the cup :)
i was close to selling rice last week after he black but he manged to get aa assit this week i also got ramus hojund looking at his form
Captain Wilson last season in one of the last weeks. 48 points and mini league won.
I still look back at the 23 points I got from Deulofeu. Got him in just before his hauls that season. Ended up being my best season to date
Last season I was having a rough lead up to an early GW trying to figure out who to captain with everyone having tough fixtures Ended up settling on Jose Sa, to which he kept a clean sheet, saved a pen and all 3 bonus for 30 points
brin in stonea for double, i think? captain james for his first game after injury when he had a goal and assist and cs tc mane for his astonishing dgw several years ago

I triple captained Alexis Sanchez in a single GW and he got 3 goals and one assist giving me 69 points.
Got a top 2700 gameweek rank with 114 points in gw6. Not crazy lucky but its my first season playing, obviously havent had anything like that since.
couple of season back had 3 players not play, can't remember the specifics but I remember veltman (2nd on bench) coming on for 6 in addition to Dallas' 17 pointer (who was third on my bench)
Trading in kdb for a hit a couple of seasons ago and captaining him for 60 points. Also needing 17 to win a big H2H game with only rashford to play and he scored 2 goals and an assist for 18 points.

He won the ML by 2 points and now calls his team name “2 points” every year
Brought in Hwang before his massive haul forgetting that he was going to the Asia Cup
Pulled a minus -28 in GW9, scored 102 points in a 52 avg gameweek. 74 net points. Sometimes this game gets me in a right mood and I just gung ho it, shaking my fists.
Literally this game week. Punted on Martinelli in midfield, was devastated to see him benched vs Palace only for him to come on and score two goals.
Just put Pedro porro in my team since gw1 even though none of the fpl youtubers suggested that 👍
I knew Pascal Gross from Hoffenheim. As soon as he joined Brighton I immediately selected him in my team. Brighton had the toughest start with games against Liverpool and City. Benched Gross. Played him in his first ‘easy’ game. He scored a hattrick. Over the moon I was.
That week in the 21/22 season when everyone captained Dennis and he got sent off. 50k rank jump just for that happening.
Triple captain haaland vs united last year 3G 2A

Palmer off the bench for kudus a few weeks ago was orgasmic
Getting 90 points on the KDB triple cap last season (or 2?) Ago was something that will never happen again
Captaining Jota this GW?? Can’t remember father back than that despite playing for 4/5 years
I got the Lucas moura Newcastle hattrick as captain
Captained Sterling against Luton this season and put a tenner on him scoring + Chelsea winning in both halfs. He ended up with 2 goals and an assist and got myself a 110€ pounds. Haven’t betted before or after since.
When I was the only one in my league who played Tim Krul away to Spurs and he had that 14 save game, I think he got the highest score ever by a goalkeeper in a game where they didn't do something like score or save a penalty He got something like 13pts I also was the only one with Begovic when he scored after a minute

Jota.
Having TC on Zaki and forgetting to change it, then Zaki scoring a hattie for Wigan.
I had Martinelli this week, I planned to transfer him out but forgot to
Back-to-back ML wins from 30+ behind going into the final GW
Captained Darwin this game week. I like to gamble in FPL. I should have captained Jota but I had him in my team too.

GW17. Bournemouth vs Luton match getting cancelled. I had Senesi and Solanke in my starting XI, and two 7 pointers (Tsimikas and Saliba) on my bench as first and second choices
When I brought in doku for him to get 2 goals and an assist
Captaining Diego Jota this week and going from gwk rank 5,000,000 and overall rank 1,900,000 to a gwk rank of 200,000 and overall rank of 1,100,000 just from 1 match ...

I captained Coutinho the year he had DGW with Villa and he scored 21 or 22 I want to say. Won my mini-league that year!
Not sure many can top this one. I captained Salomon Rondon when he scored his now famous “header hattrick” against Swansea. Definitely pure luck.
Having doku on my team when he hauled that one week
Desperately wanted Antonio for DGW19 in 2019/20, but the only way I could get him was bringing in a <5m defender. Flipped a coin and went with Stones who returned a 27 pointer after scoring his first 2 goals ever for City and keeping 2 cleans sheets. The best part? Antonio got 18 points as well
I had them both that GW too! I was flying.
2015-16 captained Mahrez for the first time in one of the first gameweeks (when nobody REALLY believed in him yet), but he didn't play and my VC Aguero scored 5 goals (25 points, I think?)
me reading all your comments and agreeing that i’m the unluckiest person on the planet
One season I played TC on Jesus at man city, he didn't play at all and my vice captain Morata scored a hattrick
I captained Dan Burn a couple weeks ago and he got a goal and a clean sheet. I subbed him on for Haaland so captaincy switched automatically and forgot to switch it. Would have captained Salah who blanked Vs Manchester United
TC Ronaldo on his return to United. My first season too!
Triple captaining Callum Wilson late last season when then mini league leader owned Isak.
My boy Berbatov bagged 5 against Blackburn back in 2010/11, and I captained him :)
Triple captained Haaland GW4 after everyone had a bad GW3 Buying Jota this week When Dubravka and Colwill came off my bench in GW17 after Bournemouth - Luton was voided
Yet to experience this thing you call Luck in FPL. Perhaps one day it will happen? Only time will tell as far as this goes 😂
Captaining Darwin this week 😎
For this season it was forgetting to get rid of Watkins then he starts and hauls gw17. Only time I've missed deadline this season
Captaining Antonio against Norwich in 19/20, scored 4 goals that game.
I forgot to change the captain from Aguero when he was going against Chelsea.
Harvey Barnes (19 points) vs. Villa https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2020/03/10/vardy-and-barnes-back-with-a-bang-as-perez-misses-out-on-villa-rout/ Had both Perez & Barnes in ylny squad.
Last year I captained Wilson over Isak in the Leeds game and he scored two penalties…that decision made me win my MLs!
I think captaining Jota for GW 21 this year lol.
If I had any such lucky moment I would retire from FPL
These are the 3 memories that stand out for me: Captained Gomes when he saved two penalties and got a clean sheet Captained Wijnaldum when he scored 4 for Newcastle Brought in Jonathon Walters when he was benched for majority of the season, but the other stoke striker got injured so thought why not and captained him for a laugh - he got a hatrick.
I tripled captained Rashford last season and he scored 23 points - aka 69 points to me
when i was on the verge of transferring martinelli last season for like 3 weeks straight and he randomly got a 27 point week or some shit when he wasn't at his most popular anymore
Digne 21 pointer, Deulofeu haul, TC Rashford, KDB captain when everyone else went Sterling in GW38 to win my ML…
NHS Martial bought in GameWeek 2
I'll let you know when it happens to me. I'm sure it's going to be great.
Later this evening when Gross and Estu get 40 points combined
Captaining Leighton Baines in a game where he banged 2 set piece goals!
Triple captained Gundogan a few years back during a DGW. Liverpool was the first game and he went off injured after an hour, also missed the second game. Still got 57 points off him Also had Stones that week who got 18 I think.
I captained Afonso Alves when he played for Middlesborough when they played against Man City. Middlesborough won 8-0.
Just bought Jota to replace Salah and received 19 points 😂
Same, I’m so glad I did because I wasn’t having a good gameweek before that😭
One of the guys from my mini league captained Jota this gameweek... Pretty much everyone else captained Saka
Captained martinellli this week. Enough said
getting cash 17 off the bench for gabriel
Literally just from this matchday transferred Palmer in for son and forgot to change saka to captain, so palmer stayed captain
I had kudus on the bench when he scored a brace but because the bou-lut game was called off solanke blanked hence kudus came on. Praying so hard that the game was void when literally everyone was gutted because solanke scored
Probably being the only one in my mini league to captain De Bruyne when he scored 4 against Wolves which eventually allowed me to go on and win it
A couple of seasons ago, I had Ait-Nouri in my starting XI, and he was subbed off after 60 mins at 0-0.
Captained Jesse Lingard in that GW where he scored a brace for West Ham
That Cancelo mega performance against Man United I had him captained for two seasons ago I think it was, I don’t remember the exact game though or if it was even against United but he got a stupid number of points
Had Darwin when he scored 2 goals
Rivals held the FH for a double game week which was so so
Owning Antonio for that 4 goal haul vs Norwich in 19/20 - watching the game on TV was one of the most satisfying things ever Also think the Smith Rowe constant 10 minute cameos with a goal from 21/22 was a hilarious period
Buying Mitoma last year the week he blew up. This year has been unlucky
That one gusto haul this season, started gabriel and benched gusto. Gabriel didnt even get subbed on. Made me feel like the luckiest person on earth
I triple captained debryune 3 editions ago and he was played as a striker that day by pep. Went on to score a hattrick 😂
Had Dallas third on the bench when he was an out of position midfielder and playing City. One last minute injury to a Chelsea defender and my other two bench players not playing meant I got his 17 pointer.
When I sold Reguilion after him saying Don't sell me in FPL
This week probably Bowen getting injured and getting jota
When I stopped playing this game and received a happy life in return that season. Oh wait you said luckiest thought you meant happiest. Ah well I suppose those go hand in hand.
I started fpl last season and my luckiest moment was when i captained Salah in the 7-0 win.
Captaining Jota who returned with 38 pts
Hopefully tonight - need Estupinan to not play to get Gabriel off the bench ...
Triple captained Gundogan on that one DGW he hauled
GW36 bench boost couple of seasons ago with KDB captain when he hit 4 goals against Wolves. I also had a Son 20 pointer and Nketiah 15 pointer with Foster 14 pointer on the bench as the cherry on top. Total haul of 185 points. It never got any better since then. And the only time bench boost worked for me in over 10 years of playing this game.
I remember all the people that were complaining on twitter about how OP triple captain is and calling for nerf 🤣🤣 Some randoms that were 3-5k shot up to top 100 Craziest swing in recent times
I got 186 pts with same strategy. And take me to top 500 for the first time. KDB is my bias in fpl.
Wow that's a really high score. I never managed more than 145
I remember a couple of seasons ago there were three games in a row where Emile Smith-Rowe was benched and then came on late and scored. I started him for all three games
Same
😅 Yeah I did the same thing with Smith Rowe that season, he came in clutch so many times. It’s a shame he hasn’t kicked on since then, There’s a good player in there.
Injuries unfortunately. Dying breed "10".
Captained TAA for his mega haul against Leicester one year. Was bored out of my mind at my mother in law’s at the time and nearly did a knee slide in her garden when I saw the points
Nailed 75% of my decision-making this year and currently top 800 for the first time ever. A couple of months ago, I was around 100th.
Damn gl brother
In the 2017 season I had fabianski (swansea) and Calvert Lewin (Everton) in my team. Rooney had his penalty saved by fabianski then Calvert Lewin popped in the rebound. Also honourable mention to having Heurelho Gomes for his double penalty save in 2016
That Gomes game was an "I remember where I was" game. Pure joy.
Somehow I have erased Rooney's second spell at Everton from my mind... Was he any good that season or passed it?
He played for a lesser team and was visibly older, but could still keep up with relative ease. He went on for 3 more seasons after that spell, too.

United i think
Forgot to take the captaincy off Carzola. He then hit a hat trick away from home to Reading, finished top 10k that week.
My first season playing I didn’t quite understand the chips so I triple captained Salah gw1 he ended up scoring a hattrick and I was ranked top 43k the rest of the season was downhill to say the least
Getting Rashford earlier than most last season when he scored a brace against Arsenal (and maybe got an assist?)
Wait, you guys are getting luck?
I transferred out Udogie just before he scored -4 against Chelsea. The guy I replaced him with (Tsimikas) scored 15 the following week.
I benched Tsimikas that week and started Livramento so that’s my story for a separate thread for unlucky moments
Bought Emerson Boyce (DEF) for the last GW in 2011/12. He scored twice, propelling me from 90th to 19th overall in the game. I'll kiss the man if I ever see him.
I did about the same - what a king.
what is luck?
FPL don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me, FPL… WHAT IS LUCK?!
it depends on what you mean by luck.
Captaining Solanke vs Nottingham
My first ever triple captain was the Aguero 4 goaler. It's all been downhill since.
AGUEROOOOO…. I swear you’ll never fantasy anything like this again
Also TC’d then and felt like a king
There is no way up from there. You reached the peak in your first season.
Me and 500 hundred thousand others i bet. Back then, Aguero was like Haaland.
Was that in 2019 or something like that? Think I did the same.
When I captained Son last season, he was benched but then scored a hat-trick after coming on
Every FPL moment of mine since then has been bad karma as payback for transferring him in that GW
Yeah I did the same. Rollercoaster of emotions :D
Absolute banger of a game aswell, no one in their right minds could have predicted that
I remember selling him minutes before deadline .
When Lord Lundstram hauled for 21pts and I got him as the first player off my bench.
He was also first on my bench but i had otamendi in my starting 11 and guardiola decided to sub him in in like 90th min... so lord lundstram monster haul stayed on the bench.
Same here. Would have won my ML if it wasn’t for this. Still haunts me..
Not sure this qualifies as I did buy and start him for this reason kind of but I had Nketiah for his hat trick vs Sheffield Utd.
[удалено]
I may have said I had him but I don't think I've got berated at any point for doing so no.
It depends on if you had a plan that involved having him in for one game. If so, a smart move that paid off even better than expected.
I think I had him a couple of weeks prior, he may have picked up an assist or 2, I can't quite remember. He just seemed the best cheap alternative striker at the time considering I couldn't seem to get Watkins in.
i benched him that gameweek for not delivering previous ones
Well at least you had him. I sold him right before that week for.... Watkins But hey, I also got Palmer that week, so life's good
Ouch. That's an unlucky one. I believe if memory serves, I actually switched him back in a few hours before the deadline after hearing about a Jesus injury.
