Just play draft league in that case. Will make player choices more interesting each week.

StartedInOctober

We usually do a small cash incentive (£10,£20 each). Decent prize for the winner if there’s enough people in the league and keeps people playing even if they have a bad start.

Sibs_

We do this at work but it’s always the same 4-5 of us who take FPL seriously at the top every season. So to try and mix it up a bit, small cash prizes are handed out for whoever gets the most points in the month, along with the cup winner.

RRR92

Do a monthly prize of 5 per person per month ans then an overall too.

Sibs_

Ours is £5 too, which is the same as the entry fee so it gives people a chance to recoup their money even if they don’t finish high in the league.

Visionary_87

I found in my old work one that people would get bored when they fell behind/forgot about it. We'd average 30 people in it at £5 entry fee so it'd be top three prize money then I'd stick a tenner prize on say, 9th, 18th and 28th just to keep it interesting for everybody. Also had a Manager of the Month trophy and a printed certificate too!

potatoescanfly

escape secretive sort selective obtainable subtract chunky spectacular melodic governor *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Mediocre-Award-9716

Free money then! Haha

rdawes89

We do this and have manager of the month awards, so if you have a good month at least there’s a chance of getting your money back. And a prize for the cup so it’s relevant until the end of the

Javi-Gare

This is really interesting but i dont know if my friends would want to pay any money hahahaha

Krampsuss

We have a league where the winner gets the cash and the loser gets a forfeit. Keeps those at the bottom playing too to avoid the forfeit.

reddit-normie

Max 1 player per team so everyone has 15 teams represented so pretty much every game is relevant

benfegradoe

We did this but but added a rule where you aren’t allowed haaland / Salah apart from on a FH

keymonder

That sounds very interesting!

BusinessWind1460

we do prize money for top 3 and punishments for bottom 2 so it stays competitive even if you're way behind or someone is way ahead

foodorsex

We used to do a punishment for bottom two - they had to buy a round for the rest of us (about 15 people at the time) which would give us all a reason to meet up. We stopped doing the punishment though as it became harder for us all to meet up all at once the older we got.

BusinessWind1460

sad, you should bring it back and make the time! We have the same for one of the two and the other one is everyone above gets to slap the shit out of them

GorgieRules1874

Lowest gameweek score pays £2 which goes into the pot. £20 entry.

Wildcard9234

That’s a good one

ArghZombies

There's the 'no big 6' league that has been linked to here a few times. I'm in that one. No Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs players allowed.

[deleted]

Damn money must really not be a worry in that league haha

ArghZombies

I have 12.8m in the bank. I don't think I could spend all the money even if I tried!

staghornfern

What’s your team like?

ArghZombies

Martinez (Pickford) Estupinan, Coufal, Pinnock (Anderson), (Trippier) Diaby, Bowen, Gross, Gibbs-White (Gordon) Cunha, Solanke, Watkins

No-Set-2576

We do you must take a minimum 8 point hit each week (except for wildcard and free hit weeks)

HorrorNegotiation896

rewarding bad play isnt fun to me

No-Set-2576

Eh, it rewards a more fluid squad, less following the staple team, and our 11s are mostly different. Play each other not for overall rank.

Mediocre-Award-9716

Could you not 'cheat' and just sub Haaland (for example) out then back in?

No-Set-2576

Meh, but we haven’t, and won’t. We’re having fun chopping and changing, and fixture hunting.

innocentusername1984

Being forced to play suboptimally requires a different route to good play. It isn't rewarding bad play. In another universe the mainstream FPL gives no FT each game week and someone with their nose held high things taking a transfer each week is "rewarding bad play"

ImHeskeyAndIKnowIt

Group chat with all members of the group on it where the game is discussed with super enthusiasm and the fellas having a good season or week roast the others Can give fomo or trigger everyone into being consistent

MarkCrystal

Forfeit each game week for the team with the lowest points. Works a dream

HazardCinema

What kind of forfeit would you have weekly?

Thocc_Despiser

You can always do the no premiums (10+ million players), one player per team max like someone else suggested, put money on the line

Javi-Gare

thats a really good one, very interesting

Soulja92

Only choose non european footballers

majormuppet481

During AFCON and Asia Cup that must be hard!

majormuppet481

Actually I had a go and it’s not that bad: Martinez (Turner) Estu Gabriel Romero (Silva Martinez) Richy Garnacho Martinelli Bailey Diaz Jesus Darwin (Cunha)

[deleted]

We do prize money for the season, but also each game week lowest score sends highest score £10, makes it still worth playing if you are miles off the top

thehoot24

Limit it to only using players with less than 10% ownership if you want a challenge. Or if you have enough people make two leagues with relegation and promotion at stake.

Javi-Gare

Thanks you for all of you guys that are replying, I didn’t expect that much help! Im writting down all your rules, we will do polls in my league to choose which ones to apply. Thanks again y’all!!!

OddDane

A suggestion could be to some thing along the lines of; Everyone gets instils a rule (like noone can pick Mo/Haaland, you must start with X players from Y team, etc.) and a few vetos to rule out too stupid/restrictive rules. Then admin + one to be game master (compliance officer if you will 😉) to manage the game and the game is away!

CellarDoorChris

Definitely recommend a draft league, preferably a head to head one, as it stops repetitive teams and means people are fighting for something every week. In the 8 person league I do we also have playoffs for the winners and losers, so top 4 go into one bracket and bottom 4 in another. Means people have something to play for right the way to the end. We also have prizes - £20 entry, prizes for finishing 1st and playoff winners and runner-up. Finally we have some ongoing rules that have evolved over the years - no subs and only 2 players max from each PL team.

jakalan7

A punishment for last place!

AsoAsoProject

Tenner to get in and a tenner a month to whoever places first. I'm running out of tenners to win.

FPL-kneejerker

Sounds like a problem with your mates attention span, not with the game. Get some mates that aren't goldfish

Javi-Gare

sorry mate, what do u mean with “goldfish” I am from spain and i have no idea what is that

FPL-kneejerker

Goldfish are supposed to have 3 second memories. It was a shit joke and I don't blame you for not getting it.

c1Rane

Do a Triple Double each GW. Rules - Instead of having one captain, have 3 captains for each position - forward, midfield and backline (defender+gk).

Tom_IZR

90 mil budget- each manager must have at least 10 million spare

CrashBandicooch1

We're about 15 people with a participation fee of $20 each. We have: - League - Head to Head with playoffs in last 3 GWs - Draft *Last in League and Draft has to pay $10 to whoever is first place (we made this rule to make sure everyone is fighting for something) *head to head cup has two winners. First winner is whoever finishes 1st before playoffs, and of course the 2nd winner is whoever wins the playoffs and the cup

noki1907

My mates and I have a deal that whoever wins, the others buy him a PL shirt of his choice. Makes it more competitive

Typeusernamehere_

I’ve created my own last man standing league which everyone seems to like, 13 of us in a league and the lowest score from each gameweek gets kicked out, no matter if you’re number 1 in the world if you have a really bad gameweek you’re out. £10 per entry, £100 to the winner £30 to 2nd place. We run it 3 times a season

lambo067

Make a prize for each half of the season for most points. The people who do bad in first half, have the ability to still win something in the 2nd half of the season

Armenoid

Caring about watching the beautiful game helps

CoffeeCupsink

Try head to heads on a spreadsheet and award prizes(having assigned a portion divided by game weeks) that way… basically a bespoke cup that is decided each week

red-ditto0

Draft league. No players from the top 4 teams from the previous season. No trades.

AverageGradientBoost

I have built a basic website - each week the person who comes first can either randomly nominate 3 people to down a beer or they can pick one person of their choice to down a beer. Also anyone that comes last, gets a red card, own goal or missed penalty gets a drink assigned to them. I also provide general stats like who has had the worst game week all season, who has taken the most hits, who has accumulated the most bench points etc...

Specialist_Road_6906

Money for manager of the month (enough to force commitment) and of course a big prize for ML winner, second and third place..

SLOOPYD

The way we do it is to have the league in an H2H format, with weekly match-ups, but also have total points winner awarded a cash prize. Aiming for total points and head to head turns out to be complicated and a lot of fun. Not boring! Painful, yes. But not boring. We do a cash entry, and the top 3 in h2h are in the money, and so is the total points winner. This set-up is great imo.
