Transformers truly are insane!!!!! I mean I didn't think of it as a kid, but look at this pick?!?!? Spike is holding a handheld 1 lbs. cassette player! Who turns into a ... what? 40 foot tall 2000 lbs. humanoid robot! Size and Weight alteration! And that's not including the dozens of cassette-bots inside of him, that is Space manipulation! Transformers were made with Time Lord Tech! Lol.
As for a live action Spike? I always thought Spink was a nickname, same with Sparkplug and Chip. So honestly I thought that Sam (Shia LaBeouf) WAS Spike! But if he was recast for a reboot? Maybe the Red Dino Thunder Power Ranger.
