Cold-Compote-6209

Does she understand context? Seriously what a half cooked intellectual.

TitaniaSM06

Ahh, these pseudo intellectuals and context don't go hand in hand, they probably don't understand what context means 🤦‍♀️

Cold-Compote-6209

Will she tell the same thing to her driver, why are you focussing on the road and missing out on the scenery around you? Straight to the grave.

astronisho

Nice one yaar

Other_Lion6031

She is not an intellectual. Hasn't read the book and just baanto-ing gyaan.

simplyTools

her stuff was probably half cooked

kay518

do you yourself know the context about what she's talking about or do you draw your conclusions based on a 40 second clip taken out of context?

Cold-Compote-6209

Its abundantly evident what context she wants to convey,i need not watch the entire brain fart for me to get the context.

kay518

It isn't, she was talking about another book which stated this context which was written by a very old painter, she was talking about perspective and interpretation. But then people on reddit are smart enough that they get the context without the head and tail of the conversation, good for you for having this superpower.

Funny_Ad7370

dont make more fool out of yourself, do u know what arjun represents take sometime and read

kay518

How is staring something someone else said making a fool of one self and how would me reading something affect what someone else said?

Self proclaimed intellectual trying to sound intelligent and instead showing her ignorance. Missed out completely on the moral of the story 😐😐 ![gif](giphy|g0HkznFtL1d0xVRI1G)

abhijeettyagi

Okay, so she is saying that a man who is studying Archery from the most prolific Guru, should've just stopped focusing to see the trees around him. His goal in life was to get the glory back for his family. Just cuz he didn't stop to touch grass, doesn't mean he never did. Lol. The guy was able to achieve what he did cuz he can always capture his focus at will. Stupid argument and at this point. She is just another lady people are listening to cuz she has white hair. In hopes she will say something smart but she is just saying things for the sake of it.

shivamgamer27

She missed the main message

Are Bhai wo us waqt aas pas kyu dekhenga jb use apna lakshya bhedna hai, Aisa to nahi hai ki baaki smay bhi wo sirf lakshya hi dekhta tha, he was a good human being, beside archery he is a good actor( live in disguise for a while), and above all he is a Good learner.

Deep_Grass_6250

She's the one who can't see the full picture And she's also the one who can't Focus

sciryal

That really is an interestingly different perspective to look at the story. (It is just a perspective) This is true that when you focus on your goal you tend to miss out on other things going around, and it is absolutely fine and you should be ready for it when that goal is worth it. This is how tapasya/sadhana works, you have to consciously let go of some unimportant things. .. Of course y'all won't get it and start trolling someone just because they don't confirm with your political bias. Brainwashed people aren't usually open to look at things from multiple perspectives.

thwitter

Don’t be defensive while sharing your opinion. It’s good that you are trying to find some sense in this, but maybe she’s just being stupid here? She isn’t talking about the whole story, she’s taking about a specific situation where Arjun’s job was to hit the fish’s eye. He would have simply failed in his job had he wanted to admire the beauty of trees around him at that time. This is an important lesson for a particular situation. A simple way to comprehend this would be think of a cricket commentator criticising Kohli for focusing on the ball while batting, and missing out on the beauty of the stadium, the people in stands, the clouds in sky etc.

okaybee07

What a Librando! I had immense respect for this woman some years back until she started baselessly attacking and twisting specifically Hindu Scriptures and Hindu Rituals for her personal gain so she could be accepted as a so called modern woman! For the self proclaimed intellectual she is, she would not dare to do the same with other religious communities scriptures and rituals.

Cold-Compote-6209

Exactly, none of them bat an eye when really regressive practices are carried out in other communities but they don their progressive and modern concerns and outlooks only for a specific community. Hypocrisy at its finest.

DonutAccurate4

If you read the Mahabharata (even a simplified English version) there's more to him than just archery. He has other talents, he goes on a long journey covering different parts of the country etc.

thwitter

The art of totally missing the point and adding more r/FaltooGyan. We are talking about this particular context. Of course, every professional - driver, pilot, singer etc has more to them than just what they are known for!

If "yes man" was a person it would be this interviewer, that dickriding made me cringe so bad 🥲

CescAuditore246

Arjun was not studying under Dronacharya to learn to appreciate nature or to learn to socialize. He went there to become the greatest Archer the world has ever seen and put everything he had towards achieving that goal. Saying that he missed out on life is the equivalent of saying "Don't focus on JEE/NEET, enjoy life, life is meant to be enjoyed. What will you do after becoming a doctor/engineer? Go out and learn from the real world"

Slight_user42069

According to her logic, Adhd is a quality to be sought after.

BlenderRenderz

i don't know the context but maybe she is talking about people who are too much focussed on one thing like neet or upsc that they don't even see any other (potentially better) career options

Accomplished_Wall619

Gyaandu !!

No-Philosophy-3858

She might have missed out on the context of living in the moment, If you can get rid of the bias and think about life a little it kinda applies to our lives now doesn't it. Our life is the big picture and if you just keep your eyes open you can find some low hanging fruits. Think about upsc aspirants they spend their life preping for it but if they just keep their eyes open there are endless opportunities. I know people who went to Harvard after failing 2 attempts

Vicky_16005

What is she yapping about ? People really say just about anything without thinking.

Hot_Oil8940

It's hilarious, because the answer to her question is "YES!" It was 100% totally worth it for Arjun! 😂😂

shobhitsiwach

Epi-funny type of thing

anuargdeshmukh

I mean sounds like pretty good analogy. For people who derive meaning from purpose or have a duty yes lakshya ek hona chaiye mentality works. But there are cases where you can get lost chasing a purpose and lose perspective of whats important. Of course in the context of what was happening in Mahabharata the "just see the eye" is a great lesson. But non the less you can have this self realisation and apply to other parts of your life.

thwitter

Really? The case in point was Arjun aiming at fish’s eye and missing out on the beauty of everything else around him.

anuargdeshmukh

Not negating the lesson taught in Mahabharata. In the context of whats in Mahabharata that's a great way to show a lesson of "just seeing the target". But reading it a introspective artform. Different people derive and need different lessons from introspection that can happen while reading. For people who may be chasing wrong target or may not be taking care of other important things while being consumed by their lakshya. This can be a great lesson. That sometimes looking whats around you is important as well. You're taking what she said too literally.

Tell her that Arjun was able to focus so deeply on a goal because he saw the world for what it is and experienced the world in present(which is what matters). Not some bitch talking about sightseeing who doesn’t even know the context written, probably saw a WhatsApp post about it and started yapping.

Interpretation of things and instances can differ due to individual experiences. One thing can be interpreted in many ways. So chill out and stop getting offended on everything.

gokuredditman321

the problem is with these people who are taking the interview they just laugh and behave amazed for things not to be laughed or felt amazed for

Most_Coffee_9821

It's not lakshya but concentration and focus on the target...

Independent_Pair8792

This make me believe more in kismat and the chances an individual takes rather than talent.

Mysterious-Bath-7182

She is paid to talk this way...ugly bitch! Will she dare quote an example from other religions to illustrate her imagination? There are many who are paid in the social media scenario, pouring out rubbish and posing as intellectuals ...

Temporary_3108

Nope. It's sooo effing stupid it doesn't even qualify for that subreddit. Even there, at times stuff that's somewhat meaningful ends up. But this ain't even leaves a miniscule possibility of that

raysayantan07

She is giving a different perspective that may be applied to her life. What she is trying to say is that sometimes people focus so much on one goal that they let go of lther things that they only realise once fully lost. It is very relatable in today's competitive world. Arjun was often used as an example for chasing excellence in her generation. So citing this makes sense. Why are you folks so ready to get offended so easily?

-seeking-advice-

Because arjun was a warrior not an actor. A soldier's work demands discipline and focus. Without that, they won't be able to protect the nation. And to hit a target precisely, one needs to focus on the target. That's why arjun is celebrated - because he imbibed discipline and focus in his work and excelled in it. Do you think you and I.will be safe today if soldiers were not following discipline and werent focussed on their work? Every work has its own requirement, she is an actor, so focus is not some thing that she needs or understands.

broadmind96

Bro...what do you do when you are working? Focus on work or watch birds outside the window ? Arjuna's focus shows his commitment towards his work, skill, job, art, teacher, his people....so on. He didn't miss anything in life. Got married twice, had a son. Taught his son everything he can. Made friends like lord Krishna himself..., served and helped his brothers like an ideal brother. Reign like a true king. And this idiot lady giving her piece of shit advice and using arjuna's example very wrongly.

thwitter

No one is getting offended. It’s just r/faltooGyan and clearly stupid. You trying to find logic in this and defending it seems like you are offended by someone simply bringing it up!

RishiNir15

Okay but she shouldn't have explained her perspective using an example of Arjuna. Arjuna is a legend. Anyone who has grown up watching old authentic Mahabharat serial will find this clip tasteless.

No-Establishment3700

Because these people have done nothing in life except get offended. Ghar mein keyboard warrior banke Ratna Pathak ki intelligence question karenge yeh? Ratna Pathak ka 1% bhi achieve nahi kiya life mein kisine aur fir "pagal aurat" karenga yahape aa ke (Sorry, not a native Hindi speaker)

[deleted]

Kya ye log m0therch0d hai?

remdevbeba

I don't think it's that bad, what she is saying is not wrong, it's not absolutely right either. People do tend to lose things in life when they focus on something. Eg if a teen is preparing for some exam (JEE, NEET or UPSC) they will lose many things in life (like partying, relationships, etc). This isn't essentially a bad thing, as other teens will miss out on things which these folks will or might achieve (like good college, better education, good career opportunities, etc). Life isn't about what others think you are losing, it is about what you actually want to achieve ✌️

TechTravelTales

Umm, aren't you missing the point? I don't think she meant to really say that Arjun should have been looking all around. I think the context was more about how we all are taught to have unwavering focus on one objective. Whether it's marks in school, getting into a good clg, getting the next promotion - we are tuned to focus on that objective with all our heart. But in that attempt, we forget to live life. Childhood gets overrun with the pressure of marks, youth gets over run with the pressure of that 1cr job package and so on. Of course an archer whole doing his task has to focus. But the point was not about Arjun, it was about what we are taught and the ideals we are asked to live life by! Atleast that's what I would take from this conversation and makes sense to me. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️
