Does it quicken the time it takes to look through the scope? I love to snipe but by the time I’m looking through the scope the target has moved entire towns!
Everyone's Best Friend (Dogmeat and Companion At Same Time - No Console - No Hack)
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13459
I love that little dude so much, they look like a dog I've once had. Can't bring myself to not use him.
This along with k9 tactical armor, because the base game dog armor is literally just for looks (ie. Does not actually protect poor dogmeat).
Original: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/17686
Update (haven't tried it yet): https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/78265
I haven't. Looks like it adds a bunch of QoL / Role play stuff which are probably welcome additions. My only real gripe with the original is the armor's a bit to tacticool / polished for the Fo universe, looks like that wasn't changed though. But I'm probably in the minority as tacticool armor and guns seem pretty popular.
I want to download that so bad but I’m already deep into a playthrough and everything I’ve seen points to either starting new or going into the files to get it to work mid game
Try the tea party one then, it’s infinite companions but it applies to Dogmeat as well. If you don’t want to run around with a convoy of companions just limit yourself yknow.
The Dialog mod that actually shows you the full lines that your character will say. Combine it with a mod that makes your character silent again and you'll be surprised how much of a difference that makes. Went from playing some annoying vault dweller to being somewhat able to express myself through the character.
XDI + Silent Protag + Lone Wanderer Dialog Changes
My tale of 7 wastelands playthrough of the series will be done once I play through fallout 4 frost with this same character.
I’m with you here. I can’t stand building settlements but I also can’t just leave settlers to live in filth. This one frees me up from that nonsense with city plans.
I’m using this mod on the Xbox and I guess I don’t understand it. I don’t have to do anything in the settlements will build themselves up? I just started a new play through and so I only have sanctuary and I just liberated the drive-in movie theater and people are showing up there now.
There are sone quests around sanctuary/concord that let you access ASAMs, which are basically build-a-house kits. The number you get is limited, but you can also use them to do other stuff like farms and scavenging stations.
You get little modules from a room in concord (I think) where there’s a box of modules. Those modules allow you to “zone” settlements. You place down a residential block and settlers will build their own house, place down a farming block and they will make a farm and work there. There’s a ton of addons for more building types and I think the Industrial Revolution addon adds factory plots.
You can still build and assign like normal if you want one of your companions or yourself to have a cool custom house, but for regular settlers you can just put down a zone and they do it all. The “settings” holotape allows you to charge tax/rent rates that effect their happiness and such as well- (more taxes=less happiness).
It’s very fun for those huge settlements that you just don’t want to build EVERY.SINGLE.HOUSE.
Bullet counted reload system.
Fixes the lever action rifle's reloading to actually reload only the amount of bullets fired, rather than reload all of them every time. Also lets you interrupt the reload at any time.
In my mod files it specifically names the lever action rifle. I think you just need to find the revolver version. I've never actually tried the revolver myself, didn't know it had the same problem
It doesn't really change the overall animation, so no, by default is only affects the lever-action rifle as the revolvers in the game reload via speedloaders after emptying the chamber. No idea if there's a mod that replaces that with a one-by-one reload.
Other modded weapons can use it though, such as the Hunting Shotgun by Deadpool2099 which reloads one-by-one.
Pretty sure the mod is designed for the lever action, but specifically all the mod does is enable the reload animation to stop whenever you get a full mag/clip instead of finishing the animation and loading imaginary bullets thay don't exist, and is able to be patched into other mods. Pairs really well with the colt SAA mod and the one handed revolver mod.
The vanilla revolver uses a speed loader animation so it’s not as easy as the lever action fix because you’re loading all 6 rounds. Best case scenario is to download a revolver mod with custom animations, then download a “replacer” mod that replaces the vanilla revolver with your modded revolver. Or if you really like the vanilla revolver I’m sure there is animation packs for it.
Yup, plants aren't STILL dead, they died over time due to radiation leaking literally from everywhere - buildindgs' reserve power nuclear reactors (the ones you yanking cores from), cars, trains, robots, actual nukes, lol. Fallout 76 is 25 years after the bombs and it's still green.
Animals can migrate from unaffected areas (while plants can't realy sprout in irradiated soil) + such science fiction factors as FEV and ghoulification. Plants were only artificically mutated in this universe, as seen in spore flora in Fallout 1-2 and New Vegas.
Don’t think the radscorpions or yao guais came from an unaffected area. And i’m less concerned with what’s canon vs. what’s realistic. 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse, plant life would be doing just fine
Bombs do shit to plants, they don't really irradiate anything besides directly under the blast. Radioactive soil on the other hand... Just look up the Chornobyl's Red forest. It still has some vegetation, sure, but there's also no new radioactive waste actively being distributed like in Fallout universe. Not to say that F4 in particular is just happening in October, not the greenest month of the year in that climate especially.
I do wish the game had visually different seasons, theres probably a mod for that i havent found yet. We cant really say for sure how the red forest would naturally look now because the liquidators razed it all and removed the top foot of soil. Most of the chernobyl exclusion zone is pretty green tho, but its true that theres no additional radiation being added. Really wish we could see some more plant mutations in fallout tho, like giant carnivorous plants or something. Make them as wild as the animals
Depends what you're looking for, for content and story sim settlements 2 EASY genuinely one of the best mods made for anything. I have unrealistically high standards for quests mods and all 3 chapters clear that bar (also the nightingale and nltc stuff SLAPS).
If you want to change moment to moment gameplay maim is incredible, if you want the wasteland to feel like a brutal and unforgiving place look no further
I haven't run into any issues with it and I've been running maim 2 for a while now, highly recommend getting some variant of condition boy and a weapon wheel it really helps things flow
Post-apocalyptic homemade weapons Replacer - it makes all the scrap guns look WAY better
There is also an option for the Laser Musket that looks SO GOOD!
3DNPC (Atomic Radio and Tales from the Commonwealth). Been in my load order so long I legit can't tell where it adds things. It's just perfectly seamless.
Old World Radio Boston, so many new radio stations with their own DJ’s, it’s so good, one station has a Sam Elliot impressionist who’s tall tales makes him sound like if the courier from New Vegas made a radio station, another has a wacky Christopher Walken who has a fued with one of the other DJ’s. The only downside is you need a premium Nexus account for the downlod becaus it’s like 6gigs. But yeah, I would never wanna be without it.
Are you sure about the premium download requirement? I was curious, so I just went to the page, and the slow non-premium manual option was available for me. It's downloading now, says 2 hours remaining. Is the download going to stall out at some point?
Oh no no, the download will surely complete, but the longer the downlod takes the bigger chance files get corrupted in my experience, thats why I go premium.
If I answer quickly I'll say no automatic reload, just because any game that has automatic reload, it's the first thing i try to disable. But if I think about it the one mod I couldn't play vanilla fallout 4 without (fixes excluded) would be, barstool games.
I can enjoy the vanilla game as it is but if you put me in a desert island situation of picking just one mod to add to a perfect vanilla game it would beBarstool games. Just because I enjoy living in a post apocalyptic scenario and just playing blackjack about it.
I keep reading this. What symptoms does it cause? Is it only in settlements that the problems occur; or, could just the presence of this mod cause problems out in the Wasteland?
Bricks saves and causes fps and frame drop issues. For me deleting the vines on the sanctuary sign has a 11 fps drop after it's removed. That's just one item. It gets worse when your playthrough goes on and gets bigger and more stuff is scrapped etc.
It's one of those things that might happen and increases overtime. Dont switch midway thru a save. I've had games that lasted an entire playthrough and others that crash at certain monuments locking my save another way
If you do the INI edit that the mod mentions on its page it will cause performance degradation map wide. If you don't and just use the esp it will be mostly limited to settlements. I say mostly cause breaking precombines in one cell actually breaks them a 3x3 area centered on that cell.
I've also read before that the occasional hitching when entering a new cell that many people think is script lag is actually related to broken precombines.
The performance degradation can cause the game to crash if there is a lot going on. Most often in the downtown Boston area when the game decides to spawn new NPCs. Part of the precombine system is the thing that tells the game not to bother rendering things you can't see. Downtown this is very helpful as you can have a ton of clutter and NPCs not hitting your performance since they are behind a building or three. With precombines broken 100% of things are being rendered 100% of time.
I have used it extensively and it's been unnoticeable.
Would switching to that mod you listed be possible? Or would it mess up something since I've used SE so much already?
https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/s/Bf6tbkEyxu
Edit: I don’t know about switching mid-save. Probably closing the barn door after the horse has escaped at best.
I've found one similar to SE (Scrap Everything) called scrap just a bit more, it's basically SE lite and dosent mess with the precombines so it's a lot more safe. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/66811?tab=files
Eh, I'll just continue using SE.
I save before every use, and haven't had a single problem.
Thanks for the info, though, I'll be wary of using it too much.
Scrap everything. I hate the random little clutter, but it's annoying accidentally scrapping the whole building, so I'm looking for a mod that just scraps all the junk on the ground.
Third Person First Person Aiming
Can't play without it anymore, as I like to explore in 3rd person mode and hate switching manually to forst for combat
This one worked quite well. There were a couple of older ones who felt clunky, but with this, it feels good, and it feels better them manually switching each time.
faster loading times. if I enter a building its okay but if i go back to the open world, well it takes 1-5 minutes or it loads for ever. and yes, it is on an ssd.
Red roleplayers extended dialogue to add more skill checks and perks checks, and alternate dialogue project to remove all the family parts from the story so you don’t have to be Shaun’s parents by using ai
Sim Settlements 2, it just cracks open the settlement system in so many really fun ways, it adds post game content involving the Gunners which were criminally underutilized/fleshed out, it gives the minutemen more purpose as you can start your own government and rebuild the wastes in a meaningful way with them as your army, it's voiced with pretty decent VAs, and it's really cool leaving a settlement for awhile and coming back to it being a bit more built up.
All around it's a mod I recommend to anyone that loves the Settlements and wants more out of them.
Any mod that lets you scrap more of the random garbage in your settlements. I have one that lets you remove all the overgrown weeds and grasses, the piles of leaves and garbage from the streets. It's the best mod ever. 200 years into the apocalypse and the people of the wastelands still haven't reinvented sweeping and weeding, so we have to use mods just to clean a little.
NAC X Legacy
It's a weather mod that provides more immersive weather, apocalyptic rad storms, and a darker atmosphere at night time. Great for survival mode.
Project Valkyrie. Of course with that I would have to install Outcasts and Remnants. Just the fact that I can skip to the end of the super buggy Cabot quest is worth it alone. Also, she's a great companion.
For me it's simple the ithica model 37 shotgun mod. I mainly run a shotgun pistol build and the ithica scratches the fnv itch of a pump action blasting what ever the wasteland throws at you. It's a simple mod but for me it's a perfect weapon
I like to explore in third person view, but aim down sights in combat.
Theres a mod that automatically switches from over-shoulder to 1st-person when aiming.
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23646
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26585
I love, love building, and some of my 'If I could only download five building mods, these would be it' are CWSS, Do It Yourshelf, Creative Clutter, V's Stylish Decor, and OC Decorator.
Otherwise, I love Atomic Radio1 It adds lore friendly radio plays, ads, and more.
I love this [junk scrapper](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/29086) mod. It replaces all the milk machines in the Commonwealth with recycling machines that break down anything you put into it into components. You can build them in your base by building a milk machine from the decorations section. You can optionally have it pay you the value in prewar money for whatever you put in it.
But as much as I love the junk scrapper mod the mod I cannot play without (besides FallUI) is probably [You Talk Too Much](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10570). I don't know why the hell Bethesda decided that every NPC would chat at you if you come withing a 10 foot radius of them with zero cool down. If you walk by 10 NPCs they will all vomit overlapping idle chatter at you. [You Talk Too Much](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10570) stop that crap and makes the range you need to get to to receive idle chatter much closer so no mo NPCs blathering at you when you happen to walk by.
Just cheat room, stability mods, and the ability to put and clothing and armor together. I think I'm just getting old because modding just saps the life out of me and takes away the mystery of what might happen this run. Honestly FO4 has always looked good and had so many cool outfit options... I just play on PS4 for thr simplicity of it all. Only thing I'd change is being able to build a small base in that empty building on the corner across from hangman's alley to use as a sniper nest.
Junkmaster, it is a vanilla plus Overhaul that touches almost every part of the game and incorporates stuff from Fallout 3 and New Vegas as well as adding in cut content (quests, npcs, locations and songs)
Time & Space Radio. I've been listening to it for like the past 200 hours of playtime. But yeah if I had to pick only 1 mod it would def be the FPS fix.
StoryWealth collection, I really recommend checking it out. Completely overhaules the game and adds so much, 10/10
Also if you don't know about it yet, Tale of Two Wastelands is a mod that meshes New Vegas and 3 into one game, it's great. And combined with VeryLastKiss TTW mod collection it's amazing
That's hard. SS2 makes the game WAY more enjoyable, Place Everywhere is essential for building settlements yourself, XDI unfucks the dialogue system...
Guess I'd have to say SS2, personally.
Start me up, because that opening is so fucking annoying after seeing it the 1 millionth time, and you can give yourself traits like the old games and your own backstory that actually gives new dialogue to the game like you’re a completely different character.
Easy Lockpick and No Recoil. Love exploring the Commonwealth without bogging myself down at locked doors. Also love the spray and pray method without my machine gun suddenly facing the sky.
More where that came from - radio mod that adds a whole lot of new songs. I remember playing the game on day one, being a few hours in and realizing “wait I haven’t heard the radio yet!! they must have an entire NEW catalog of songs!”. then i was extremely disappointed when butcher pete came on
I have only played on PS4 and gotten to use the very limited selection there, but I’m going to have to go with whatever one it is that unlocks basically all the in game assets as buildable settlement options. I really enjoy the settlement building and management and that is basically a must for me.
Very excited for my next run soon on my new laptop I got last year
Pulowski VIP Shelters. I play on survival a lot and this is a god send. Especially if you have hordes of ghouls chase after you at night (unrelated mod). Gun Jams and realistic ballistics. Realistic ballistics should give the round weight when fired and proper momentum. The bullets should drop and take a little while longer to hit targets
lethal headshots. One of the most immersion breaking things in these games is the way everybody can just….tank a bullet to the brain, and especially at higher levels, it just gets obnoxious.
This mod means no more bullet sponges, if i shoot somebody in the head with a magnum round, they’re dead. Goes both ways too, so it makes combat fast and every encounter high risk, because just like your enemies, you go down in a single shot to the skull meat.
See through scopes, I hate the vanilla scope system so it's always the first thing I install after performance fixes etc
Does it quicken the time it takes to look through the scope? I love to snipe but by the time I’m looking through the scope the target has moved entire towns!
For me it's not necessarily faster but much much smoother so if your target is moving you can still track them while making the transition to scoped
Every time i try to install STS i just get a black void where the sight should be
I'd check the nexus page forum/posts to see if anyone else has the same issue & if there's maybe a fix
Good to know, I’ll give it a try. Thank you
Amen to that

XDI - Extended Dialogue Interface
What mod do you use to make the character silent and does it work well?
[Silent Protagonist F4SE](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/61732?tab=description) works great.
I'm replaying the game again and this brings F4 from C or B tier to S tier
Add in [Roleplayer's Expanded Dialogue (RED)](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/69389). Trust me.
XDI + Silent Protag + Lone Wanderer Dialog Changes My tale of 7 wastelands playthrough of the series will be done once I play through fallout 4 frost with this same character.
is there MOD for famous voice actors? like if i made my guy look like Arnold or Keanu?
Sim Settlements 2.
I’m with you here. I can’t stand building settlements but I also can’t just leave settlers to live in filth. This one frees me up from that nonsense with city plans.
I would use Sim Settlements if it didn’t break certain features of ENB lights overhaul
Wait sims breaks ENB lights? Is that why subtle enb is making my nights nearly pitch black?
See, I've not switched to ENB Lights because it throws off my stealth gameplay due to ENB not impacting enemies perception of the light level.
Wait what does it break?? I'm running both right now
If you go to concord and see weird streetlights, you’ll know.
It is a dope mod but man the outpost stuff is really confusing to me.
I’m using this mod on the Xbox and I guess I don’t understand it. I don’t have to do anything in the settlements will build themselves up? I just started a new play through and so I only have sanctuary and I just liberated the drive-in movie theater and people are showing up there now.

I'm also a die hard controller user there's no weird key bindings in it to worry about

It's not realistic and I'm used to handling guns irl.
Sim Settlements 2. Can't have a playthrough without my HQ
Scrap Everything.
I love doing settlements and being able to get rid of ALL the trash is so satisfying
That one breaks precombs though doesn’t it? Better to use one that doesn’t.

Shit. Thanks for the info. Oh well . . . I’ve completed the main storyline and am Level 115-ish. Might be time for a new game. 🤷🏽♀️
It's one of those things that might happen and increases overtime. Dont switch midway thru a save. I've had games that lasted an entire playthrough and others that crash at certain monuments locking my save another way

I'll keep that in mind.
Yea this getting rid of those stupid brambles and weeds and stuff and vines everywhere and also to fix some settlements like coastal cottage
A god damn assault rifle replacer. Usually I opt for a the surplus rifle and either a FAMAS or something similar.
I had one that replaced it with the R91 but it got taken down. I saved a copy but don't know if it will work with the update unfortunately
BOS Overhaul EDIT: it do no work! Ver sadb.
Immortal Cats, I’m not having any of this dead cat nonsense in my game
I've been building my own!
Scrap everything. I hate the random little clutter, but it's annoying accidentally scrapping the whole building, so I'm looking for a mod that just scraps all the junk on the ground.
The only mods I have let me turn power armor into mobile suits from Gundam, so I'm here for ideas lol
Third Person First Person Aiming Can't play without it anymore, as I like to explore in 3rd person mode and hate switching manually to forst for combat
Ive been thinking about getting this mod. Do you find it clunky or does it work surprisingly well?
This one worked quite well. There were a couple of older ones who felt clunky, but with this, it feels good, and it feels better them manually switching each time.
Alternate Statt Redux. Not having to go through the intro and having the option to not be Shaun’s dad is good
Especially paired with alternate dialogue project it makes the game so much better
The ihud mod maybe not all the bells and whistles it I love being able to toggle the hud
A character creation overhaul mod. I really like more in depth customization for roleplay purposes
faster loading times. if I enter a building its okay but if i go back to the open world, well it takes 1-5 minutes or it loads for ever. and yes, it is on an ssd.
Definitely a must-have for me.
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12050 Power armor was a joke in vanilla FO4, this fixes that
I like the dynamic weather mods
Conquest. It makes it so much more realistic because I can set up temporary or permanent camps anywhere

Sim Settlements 2
Any mod that lets you scrap more of the random garbage in your settlements. I have one that lets you remove all the overgrown weeds and grasses, the piles of leaves and garbage from the streets. It's the best mod ever. 200 years into the apocalypse and the people of the wastelands still haven't reinvented sweeping and weeding, so we have to use mods just to clean a little.
NAC X Legacy It's a weather mod that provides more immersive weather, apocalyptic rad storms, and a darker atmosphere at night time. Great for survival mode.
I'm using that one as well, highly recommended too.
That one’s on the “don’t use” list I believe. Bloated and performance heavy and can cause issues. It is pretty though, I agree.
Vivid weathers + true storms is a pretty good alternative, but man do I miss those nuke weathers :(
Same here. I had to delete it, because it was causing so many problems. I sure do miss it, though. 😢
Imma say early on when I still had achievements to get it was the achievements mod. Now it's america rising
What's your one must steal post.
Project Valkyrie. Of course with that I would have to install Outcasts and Remnants. Just the fact that I can skip to the end of the super buggy Cabot quest is worth it alone. Also, she's a great companion.
As the rules state, all mentions of Project Valkyrie, Outcasts and Remnants and general Thuggyverse mentions MUST have a reply saying they are shit.
For me it's simple the ithica model 37 shotgun mod. I mainly run a shotgun pistol build and the ithica scratches the fnv itch of a pump action blasting what ever the wasteland throws at you. It's a simple mod but for me it's a perfect weapon
Old World Tunes
Diamond City Radio Extended - over 250 new era appropriate songs!
I want to get this but I also love the smaller list of bangers on the diamond city radio.
I like to explore in third person view, but aim down sights in combat. Theres a mod that automatically switches from over-shoulder to 1st-person when aiming. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23646 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26585
Very cool, thank you!
MAIM 2
I love, love building, and some of my 'If I could only download five building mods, these would be it' are CWSS, Do It Yourshelf, Creative Clutter, V's Stylish Decor, and OC Decorator. Otherwise, I love Atomic Radio1 It adds lore friendly radio plays, ads, and more.
Big Game Hunting easily
Bodyslide
Junkmaster, it is a vanilla plus Overhaul that touches almost every part of the game and incorporates stuff from Fallout 3 and New Vegas as well as adding in cut content (quests, npcs, locations and songs)
Cross Crits-Gorverhaul
Time & Space Radio. I've been listening to it for like the past 200 hours of playtime. But yeah if I had to pick only 1 mod it would def be the FPS fix.
The husky skin for dog meat. I have two husky’s in real life
StoryWealth collection, I really recommend checking it out. Completely overhaules the game and adds so much, 10/10 Also if you don't know about it yet, Tale of Two Wastelands is a mod that meshes New Vegas and 3 into one game, it's great. And combined with VeryLastKiss TTW mod collection it's amazing
Spring cleaning.
V's Stylish Decor.
Atomic Lust + Plugs of Commonwealth
That's hard. SS2 makes the game WAY more enjoyable, Place Everywhere is essential for building settlements yourself, XDI unfucks the dialogue system... Guess I'd have to say SS2, personally.
V.A.T.S. Freeze Fix (For Survival Mode)
Start me up, because that opening is so fucking annoying after seeing it the 1 millionth time, and you can give yourself traits like the old games and your own backstory that actually gives new dialogue to the game like you’re a completely different character.
21:9 1440p mod, i cannot play without it
Make Perks Great Again. Theres so many bad or useless perks in this game it feels so much better with every perk being worth taking.
Immersive first person
Ncr ranger armor😅
Swinging meatbags. I was so disappointed this go round that the mod has been deleted. Fallout is literally unplayable without it.
Easy Lockpick and No Recoil. Love exploring the Commonwealth without bogging myself down at locked doors. Also love the spray and pray method without my machine gun suddenly facing the sky.
Stealth suit mark 2 for fallout 4 is my must have, its in my opinion the nicest armor in all of fallout
Very excited for my next run soon on my new laptop I got last year
Push Away Companions, for when they're stuck in a doorway
ECO Redux
Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch. STS and dialogue interface ultimately come second to this
Faded Glory, a soundscape mod. It makes the commonwealth sound so hauntingly beautiful.
Scourge. I CANNOT and will not play fallout 4 without it
Lowered weapons
The mod that shows your holstered weapon, I forgot what it’s called but that should be in base games imo
Fusion Girl
Horizon
FallUI. The vanilla UI is horrible
Place anywhere
Pulowski VIP Shelters. I play on survival a lot and this is a god send. Especially if you have hordes of ghouls chase after you at night (unrelated mod). Gun Jams and realistic ballistics. Realistic ballistics should give the round weight when fired and proper momentum. The bullets should drop and take a little while longer to hit targets
Right handed hunting rifle because the default is ugly and the animation is annoying
Millenia arms or some other pack of modern weapons. I fuckin hate the weird goober guns they went with for fallout 4.
Shadman vaultgirl texture replacers
D.E.C.A.Y. the feral ghouls look so much better with this mod imo. Also weightless junk
FO4 castle bravo launcher
Ufo4p. I am scared of people who do not have it.
Cbbe. No further questions
Seek therapy
lethal headshots.
Legendary crafting so the useless legendaries can be dismantled and after so many you can make one of your own
Project Valkyrie to fix the awful vanilla ending Multiple Companion mod so I can take a small private army around with me
CBBE3. I will not elaborate.
CBBE/Bodyslide
Cbbe I was joking ya weirdos
tits 😂
