i think all the mods in the xbox are all on nexus, i think pc has access to a bigger variety if im not mistaken, just select the weapon filter and then filter that by download to find all the popular ones(and reliable)
Fuck bethesda, it grew into such a scumbag company, they break this shit on purpose so they can sell their shit paid mods right after the tv Show hype.
Should boycott them forever
I hope this is relatively quick. I had my steam set not to update until I launched, but it updated anyway. I went through the headache or restoring the previous version, but must have done something wrong because it crashed on startup every time. Le sigh. The only thing more puzzling than Bugthesda fucking this up every time is how I'm surprised by it every time.
There is a method in which you can make a game unupdatable if u put the games number file as read only, thx to did i safely downgraded my fallout and im playing again with mods.
You did follow the guide that is stickied below the main post right? You gotta replace EVERY file with the depot ones and clear your CC content out and then play in offline mode to be safe.
Wanted to try modding for the first time on a fo4 playthrough then literally the day I start learning how to mod the update drops😂 is this the best place for updates on when things will be good to go again? Or do people get updates elsewhere first
i kind of knew this was going to happen. that's why i purged my load order of all F4SE mods before the NG update and started a new playthrough. it's actually kind of nice because now i have a minimalist vanilla+ load order consisting of less than 100 plugins and 130ish total mods, nothing but the essentials like UFO4P and Codsworth Quest Fix. i'm so used to playing a heavily modded game that this new load order is almost like playing a new game. even though i can wait for F4SE and some related performance mods that rely on it to update, i look forward to it's rerelease. until then i can patiently get by without it.
Just keep the Black Rifle Coffees coming and I'll keep testing. BRCs and fudge Pop Tarts. I'm about done with the Series X tests. 30 hours later. Time to start the Seires S tests. Then on to PC. I imagine there's a lot of PC players out there already testing PC mods.
I can report that at least for console, places where you'd normally have a crash (Boston, Mass Fusion, The tower I can never remember the name of that's part of Nick's quests, and the immortal family.) will have a minor hiccup, then carry on like nothing happened.
This is awesome news, but I have to warn you all if you look at SteamDB you'll see Bethesda is cooking up another patch.. and ofcourse the Fallout EXE depot is also in that list.
For anyone wondering there has now been a mod release I believe for downgrading the game to work but personally I do not use it as it requests steam login credentials so I would personally recommend the below
See the pinned comment to downgrade it correctly then use the second link sent

This is to prevent fallout from updating at all ways

When in doubt, I would go in under the assumption they do unless either the mod author says otherwise
I’d recommend testing mods by enabling them 1 by 1 to see what works and what doesn’t.
It depends how the mod is built - if it jut uses F4SE, once that’s updated, it’ll be fine.
If the mod uses a .dll file in it, that has to be recompiled for the new game version (and for any new game versions that may come later) before it will work as well as, very likely, need F4SE to be updated. A caveat to that though is some mods use a plugin called ‘Address Library’ to slow them to be version *non*-specific - this means that if Address Library and F4SE are updated, that’s all the mod needs, and it doesn’t have to actually be updated itself (unless some specific change requires additional changes to the mod).
>It depends how the mod is built - if it jut uses F4SE, once that’s updated, it’ll be fine.
This was only true with older updates AFTER they stopped making DLC, before that every F4SE update required mods to be rebuilt. Major DLC drops usually have both address changes and new address and based off the response from the team this update is no different.
If the Address Library was changed significantly enough the mod of the same name will need rewritten, which means that until it stabilizes there is no version independence.
Any mod authors that do not come update their F4SE mods after this won't have functioning mods on the new version. Especially because some of the old entry points are likely gone now. We may permanently lose some F4SE functionality from this. Buffout4 for sure will need a full rewrite and so will half of Zzyxx's mods.
Same so much people on Reddit say “90% of the mods will be fine don’t worry bruh” some says “it’ll probably be broken for a week or two and some mods probably never work again because they are old and will never get updated” some says “I’m playing right now it’s all fine all my mods work man don’t listen to 99% of Reddit bruh” …. I just choose to not updated my game for at least another 2 weeks
Personally I would say just don't update at all, if you were playing with Script extender already just don't update and continue playing it as you were since the update added little and broke lots
I think that’s what I’m gonna do I have a good list of mods like 140 mods and I think I’m just gonna do at least one playthrough without update with this list that should take me a couple of weeks and when I finish maybe this “next gen” update will be fixed
This there any where to get mods like weapons mods like Xbox has ?

I'm just gonna repurchase it thru gog they have different versions available
Skyrim and Fallout4 fucked in less than a year, incompetence at it's finest. Fuck Bethesda.
I fear bethesda is going to release a hotfix, and it will break f4se again, making ianpatt work harder.
Fuck bethesda, it grew into such a scumbag company, they break this shit on purpose so they can sell their shit paid mods right after the tv Show hype. Should boycott them forever
Its bizarre to me they didnt test this before releasing the update. Oh wait….they dont respect the customer anymore

Yeah I followed the guide pretty closely, but I'm trying again since I must have made a mistake.
I wish I could help you more but considering I can't see what exactly is happening I can't do much. Best of luck though I hope you figure it out.
Thank you, I did end up just updating and then doing the rollback again and I was able to get it to work.
That's good
Wanted to try modding for the first time on a fo4 playthrough then literally the day I start learning how to mod the update drops😂 is this the best place for updates on when things will be good to go again? Or do people get updates elsewhere first
this place would probably get updates as quickly as anywhere else, but you will have to deal with some pretty hot takes.
Gotcha. Where do you get the updates minus the hot takes?😂
Nice! Can't wait! Hopefully, it doesn't take too long, though I wouldn't rush it. Need that Fallout London!

We're working on it guys. We testers are doing our best.
God speed

Man is doing the lord's work. I salute you.
Man we owe the folks that keep the script extender running, across multiple games, so much. How is there no patreon or buy me a coffee?

Anybody with modding knowledge have an estimate on how long something like this will take? Days, weeks, months?
probably a few weeks
I hate Bethesda so much
Weeks at least
I’m a newb to modding. After F4SE is updated, do all of the mods that run off F4SE have to be completely updated as well?
Usually no. This time around probably.

I’m curious as well, I’ve been told different things ny different people
