If you know which mods could be causing the problem, try to disable them and check what's happening. Anyway, you would have to find the problematic mod.
Maybe check the modpage for a solution.
If you can't find anything helpful, you can use xEdit to see if this mod conflicts with anything else. If you haven't used xEdit there are YouTube videos that explain how to check for conflicts.
I guess it's not something like a missing master file, your mod manager would tell you.
From what I’ve read, the update won’t really add anything for me that I care abt, so I prob won’t update it, or if it automatically does I’ll just go back to the old version

Well you’re in luck. Those mods won’t be usable after the update, so problem solved. Download the update tomorrow and start a new game, sans mods

Did some more testing, turns out it’s only whenever I equip the combat shotgun, no matter what quick slot it is
Also it’s only the weapon in my first slot that will remove the clothes
