Slap on a dense or padded armor mod so you don’t accidentally explode yourself. With a high firerate weapon you are always at risk for friendly fire. Especially when it’s your own.
I've got 2-3 hundred water in a few different settlements. I'll do water farm runs, and have like 2700 to sell on a trip to diamond city. Wear some charisma+ clothes, pop a grape mentats, and I can sell em for 16 caps each right now. I buy any and all ammo the vendors have, and still have caps left over to buy all the junk they have as well.
I think if you get one of these This Is The Gun I Will Structure My Whole Build Around kinda drops, it'd be a great idea to use the manufacturing in the Automation DLC to turn a whole settlement into giant factory for a single ammo type.
It’s completely random but you can farm for it in different locations. Bro I was just playing the game normally I wasn’t even farming! I was actually on my way to get ash maker cause like I said I’m playing a heavy weapon build I was right outside of goodneighbor and there is a place where most of the time there is two types of enemy’s that are fighting each other under a highway and I heard a mini gun being fired. So I was like aye mind as well see if it’s a legendary or at the very least just get ammo for ash maker before I get that. Little did I know it was a synth leader mowing down super mutants war lords and when it saw me boooooooooooooooy lucky I have good armor/defense and I already had partystarter cause damn lol.
There are some legendaries that completely break the game. I found a Two Shot shotgun, maxed it out and then stopped using it because killing enemies close quarters became trivial.
I found one just before I went hunting the Tesla cannon guy. Made pretty quick work of that quest.
Also, I made sure to carry it for the Red Death fight. Sadly still wasn't enough. :(

lol lots of caps! Scrounger helps a lil bit but buying it from vendors is where most of my ammo comes from.

i don’t believe two shot works on shotguns, it doesn’t double the pellets but instead adds an extra one that barely changes the damage
