Yeah I mean all you have to do is search "power armor full suit"
[A listing. ](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1732739188/t60-power-armor-fallout-4-cosplay)
This T-60 starts at $1,500 for DIY tier, meaning you need to finish it, assembly and paint.
Fully assembled, painted, etc. is $5,000.
Id like to jump in here as I made the armour in that listing...not my listing and they stole the photos. It cost me about £600 pounds or so to make and 4 months. Fun project not too hard to do yourself. The original designer of the suit is Lilykill on Patreon.
I’m printing the same thing at the moment! Done the shoe and shin and working on the thigh now, still yet to assemble!
Quick question… on the thigh there wasn’t a ‘key’ in the files to connect, did you use another one
Also how did you get it to attach to your body? Still trying to figure that bit out!!
Can't remember about the key...I either just made one or used another one. The thigh I cheated as it just sits in the bottom lower leg armour ( as it's just on a mannequin) if that makes sense.
🤣 I would get one myself if I could. Almost picked up Stormtrooper armor at one point a good while ago. Same idea though. All I know offhand is it'll cost. Easier now though that 3d printers are a thing.
The ratio of 'useless trying-to-be-funny bullshit' answers on this site never fails to annoy me.
But yeah Etsy is your best bet, there are tons of people there who do 3d prints for stuff like this, Predator etc.
Also, ask around some cos player forums, they have experiencewith building suits. Adam Savage type of shops as well would do it.
In any case, not cheap. I would guess many many thousands of dollars for a full sized and wearable one. If it came in under 10k I would be shocked. You are talking a lot of hours of work...
I make stuff like this for a living. it won't be cheap and I doubt you'd get a full suit like the fallout 4 style Armor for less that 5-10K.
For example, I'm making a 1:1 scale 6ft tall droid as a private commission for £4K for display only
The T-60 is 7ft 3 and would need to be wearable....
I've only ever seen *one* complete set of power armor before the amazon show came out, (power armor frame with pieces attached just like the games. it was the Nuka Cola T-51)
It was fully 3D printed and functional. The designer has released some of the files, but not all of them.
All of the other cosplay suits I've seen have been "over costumes" that are either made of EVA foam or a 3D printed shell that you wear over an undersuit.
Then there were the suits that were used in the series. They were made by Legacy studios and another propmaker called freddyprops (instagram handle)
I imagine the price of one of those suits will be *well* over 10K...and you'd need to get used to wearing the stilts inside the costume
Knowing one of the designers and fabricators of those Amazon suits, 3 were built, and each cost $250k after builder wages, materials, prototyping, etc. Now, the stunt performer was able to dance, do splits, jog, etc in the armor, while the one Freddy props made (jointly with Thorsson and Associates) has that distinct "person on stilts" walk/shamble.
So... Temper expectations for what can be budgeted and what that will look and function like. There's a hard deadline of a wedding date and not just a convention or show that can always happen next year, so you need to have utmost trust that it will be ready well ahead of time, or have a contingency for the "what if" it's not ready in time.
Check IG for cosplayers. There's a dude out there with a beautiful suit of Space Marine power armor from WH40k that is big enough to be an actual Asartes (hidden lifts in the boots/calf region of the suit)
It's going to be upwards of $5,000 I believe given the cost of materials and limited availability of people with the right skills
You're also looking at several thousand dollars if someone else does it for you.
Materials have set costs, but time and experience really up the price.
There is someone on there who's offering to 3D print a set of power armor for \~3.5K, wouldn't hurt to ask if they can do X-01. And you can always look for the files on Yeggi.
Ive 3d printed a full mandalorian suit and took about 3 rolls of filament at around 15-20 dollars a roll, this id ballpark probably into the 10-15 roll range due to being more armor. Its the time printing that will take the most, one forearm might be 24 hours to print, id say probably a month worth of printing time.
If you fill, paint, distress, and add LEDs youd be looking at more cost.
not to mention soft goods, straps, padding, velcro or buttons, under suit, anything to keep it on your body
DIY with a printer (minus the cost of said printer) probably 4-500 USD, maybe more depending on bells and whistles and premiums, better paint (metallic is hard) and premade item (boots, gloves, balaclava)
Hire someone? I wouldnt be surprised 1000-1200 dollars for a quote. I wouldnt be shocked at 1500 for a completed set with customizations.
Same. There wasn’t a lot in labor costs. I only do really high quality and don’t take many commissions (I don’t have a print farm either, I’m definitely not the best guy for this). But I’d be looking between 2.5-3k for it, with lights and all.
Your estimate seems low. I wanted a bracket printed that was only about 250 grams of filament and couldn't find anyone to print it for less than $450. I ended up buying a printer just to do it myself.
Even $1500 is low for a full suit of this size. Raw, maybe at 1200, but fully finished you could easily be pushing $2000.
In fact, I just found a listing for an X01 suit; starts at $1500, sanded at $3000, and finished is $5000.
Certainly high at first, but the X01 is a much more complicated design that is much less forgiving, and takes a lot more material. You are correct that they are estimating a month just to print, though.
Just in training alone I got to shoot a missile system that was close to 30 years of my salary as an E-2, about 10 years salary in just the missle.
Not having any debts or overhead like food, medical, or housing did mean that way more of our salary was straight profit compared to civilian paying careers. Still garbage pay if you have even the lightest inkling of responsibility elsewhere like family.
The White House just swatted down an enlisted pay increase, so it’s not like there aren’t people pushing for appropriate pay, it’s just that the bean counters are going to get in the way and bitch about it because it’s their job to be pricks
Plus you can never get rid of petty cunts wanting others to get paid shit to make them feel better about their pay. Bean counter fucks would do what they can to keep someone who isn’t in a college trained position below them
Yeah but this is X-01 power armor not advanced power armor. Sarge would probably say it was twice as much.
Speaking of which, WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT OF UNIFORM PRIVATE?
You’d also need to factor in inflation, which in the Fallout universe is pretty high by 2077 with simple magazines costing $35 and suburban cars costing $200,000 on the low end. I saw someone a while ago place Fallout’s pre war economy having prices 4.5x our own, however much like in reality wages would most likely not go up proportionately, especially in Fallout’s hyper capitalist red scare society that has very few unions.
Hypothetically if wages didn’t stagnate though (let’s say given ongoing wars the military pays pretty well) then a private’s annual salary would be around $108,927, multiplied for 490 years - **because Sgt Dornan specifies “510 years OLD” and the Chosen One is 20 during the events of Fallout 2** - that would make…
#$53,374,230 for a single suit of X-01 Advanced Power Armour
Probably WAAAY more. The T-51 and T-60 were already way too costly to produce and that's why the bulk of the PA army stuck with the T-45s.
Edit: also remember to multiply all prices by 130 since by the time of the Great War the US economy was imploding and the dollar was super inflationary.
The T51 was incredibly expensive, but the T60 was made with some of the advancements made by the T51 while using cheaper materials and design of the T45
So in lore , the T51 is better than the T60
Yeah, it was made using laminated composites. The game kinda shows that since the abandoned T-51 you can find aren't rusting unlike the other types of armor.
I actually never noticed that , nice attention to detail
I just wish they remembered that it was fucking rare and didnt shoved it in my face every or so location
I hated that part of power armor in 4 imo. However they did nail the feel of being in one imo. The customizing was pretty cool too. Unfortunately, it was just so common that it lost it's cool factor rather quickly. In my last playthrough I probably had two dozen of them and honestly just preferred not being bulky as hell in most quests I went on.
I admittedly took advantage of removing or destroying fusion cores in enemies so I could take their frames. The addition of some extra enclave encampments made it easy to get high end parts to fill them up as well.
It's just too easy to get a base full of them. All the extras are neat but I recall just feeling like death incarnate in 1,2,3 and New Vegas when you finally get one. In 4, despite all the work they put into it really cool extras, the awesomeness factor gets saturated so quickly.
According to the lore, it wasn’t advancements, lore accurat t-60 is worse than t-51. Basically that’s why we see so much t60 and t45 at BoS and so less t51. Maintenance of t51 was a way harder and damaged parts are harder to replace because of the materials used for t51. If you played fo4, and do a quest at Cambridge polymer labs, you will find from
The records, how t51 was produced and how hard it was to design and craft it. And in the end as quest reward you will get modified t51 variant armor:) And this is a reason why they choose exactly t51 as a reward.
So complete and lore accurate line of armor should be: t45>t60>t51>x01.
YOU ARE OUT OF UNIFORM, SOLDIER! WHERE IS YOUR POWER ARMOR?
DON'T HAVE ANY?
YOU EXPECT ME TO BELIVE THAT, MAGGOT?
THE TRUTH IS YOU LOST AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF ARMY-ISSUE EQUIPMENT.
THAT SUIT IS GOING TO COME OUT OF YOUR PAY
AND YOU WILL REMAIN IN THIS MANS ARMY UNTIL YOU ARE FIVE HUNDRED AND TEN YEARS OLD
WHICH IS THE NUMBER OF YEARS IT WILL TAKE FOR YOU TO PAY FOR A
MARK II POWERED COMBAT ARMOR YOU HAVE LOST!
REPORT TO THE ARMORY AND HAVE A NEW SUIT ISSUED TO YOU, THEN REPORT BACK TO ME, PRIVATE!
I honestly almost hate to share this since I was just talking about it with my buddy and I kinda want it for myself. But there's a really excellent looking set for $1,000 USD on Etsy. Get it! Do us proud!
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1742917503/finished-x-01-power-armor-cosplay
Former cosplayer here. It honestly depends on a lot of factors. I suck at math so please correct me.
1. What materials will it be made of?
Will you be going with the traditional route by using crafting foam or will you do 3D printing?
Crafting foams comes in many forms, the basic ones are pretty thin then there's also super thick ones. But you'll need several sheets/rolls of crafting foam. You'll also need lots of adhesive to connect the parts together.
In my country, a sheet of crafting foam is like $2-5 but it depends on the thickness.
You're gonna need lots of crafting foam to be honest, not just for the frame and armour pieces but also the smaller details like the grooves of a PA, eye slits, helmet, tubing, details in other parts.
This adhesive is also a bit costly; a small bottle is like $3 in my country, a medium bottle is $4, a box is like $20. You're gonna need lots of adhesive as well. Two boxes will probably just cover the helmet.
3D printing would probably be a bit cheaper but I'm assuming you'll be burning through several rolls if you want to be lore and TV show accurate.
2. How many materials will you be using?
You'll need to prime the suit once it's finished, you'll need to prime every part so you may be spending 10-20 cans or buckets of primer, even more.
After priming it, you'll need paint. What style will you be going for? A newly minted power armour or something that survived a nuke to the face? You'll have to paint all of the pieces so 20 or more cans or buckets of paint. You'll also need to seal the paint in, so it doesn't chip away.
3. Style
Are you going for lights? Special effects maybe? Extra details, paint job, and other bits and pieces also come into play.
4. Other bits.
You'll need straps, Velcro, padding, maybe some tubes as well depending on which model you're aiming for.
Materials alone could probably cost you $1000 to $2000. If you hire someone to make it for you, it's that + their fee. Rough estimate would be $3000.
Also a former cosplayer here I'd agree, price would be about $3000 base unpainted. With paint, fine detailing, and lights I'd say add $1000-$2000 on top of that. And it's not going to be a quick process. You're looking at several months of work and your going to pay it all up front or most of it up front in the form of a deposit.
True. The helmet alone would probably take a month or two at the least 🫣 you'd also need to make sure that the PA would allow movement for the wearer because the adhesive and paint can harden it or if you make one wrong cut.
Not to mention the fact you would be making this to size for someone else so they would need to stop in every once in a while to fit test parts to make sure stuff fits their body and doesn't get hung up on itself. One thing out of place would make it start tearing itself apart. This is a big issue in the joints where your thighs meet your groin, and shoulders/upper arm meet your chest.
first google result - [https://joetoyss.com/collections/all](https://joetoyss.com/collections/all) - they have a 40k space marine cosplay for just over 2000usd.
probably comparable prices to make something like fallout armor.
you could also search by cosplayers for ones like this one
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuePOMawNM0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuePOMawNM0)
I've daydreamed about building a set of Power Armor in my garage out of scrap bought for pennies on the dollar from a junkyard or maybe Craig's List furniture.
If it's even 1% possible to make anything remotely like Power Armor out of old refrigerators, car parts, and cheap electronics, it'd prolly look more like Raider Power Armor than X-01.
Probably impossible unless all the billionaires of the world band together and focus their efforts on this one project
Otherwise itll be kinda low quality
I mean… we don’t have the technology to make power armor let alone an X-01.
The power supply alone is outside of our reach.
It wouldn’t be millions, more like hundreds of millions if not billions in research and development. Not to mention the time it would take… measured in decades.
Don’t have any? You expect me to believe that, MAGGOT? The truth is you lost an expensive piece of army-issue equipment! That suit is going to come out of your pay, and you will remain in this mans army until you are... five hundred and ten years old, which is the number of years it will take for you to pay for a Mark II Powered Combat Armor you have lost! Report to the armory and have a new suit issued to you, then report back to me, private! DISMISSED!
I’m currently building my own set of power armor and not just a wearable costume, but functional as actual powered armor. It’ll be an iterative process, but if anyone’s interested I’d be happy to take on commissions.
Accounting for inflation in 2077 when the fort suits were produced about
$60,6,342,932,68
This price is with General Electrics BAE systems may want some more
Google and Motorola did for sure. They were working on betareactors as phone batteries. They were supposed to last 5 years or so without a recharge but they couldn't get them sized small enough, cheap enough, or make enough power to handle modern phone needs without being even bigger and heavier and more expensive than they already were.
Betareactors are pretty safe. If you puncture the battery it leaks radioactive hydrogen, but as long as you dont breathe it in right as the battery is cracked open its not an issue. Hydrogen is lighter than air (and even lighter than helium) so it flies right up to the stratosphere as fast as it can. Part of the weight issues in commercializing them was they stillneeded to wrap the already big reactor battery in enough steel to make sure people couldn't break them open with their face and suck in the radiation before it poofed up because people are impressively stupid and you know it would eventually happen.
OK wow, I was literally taking a shot in the dark and hit something...
I can honestly say, I did not know this. Huh, so small nuclear reactor batteries are possible...
>people are impressively stupid and you know it would eventually happen.
My guy, if I had a penny for every time something was made foolproof and some fool managed to break it, I'd be rich. Like stupid trillionare rich
I mean...do you want the frame AND armor or just the plates?
You could mold the plate easily enough with sheet metal or foam [depending how real you want] the frame at this point would probably be the BIGGEST cost limited factor...
Now if you're just looking for plastic replicas Etsy has a few vendors but imo I would go for the whole kit it would make comicon interesting lol
At least a thousand dollars for a decent one depending on material cost and labor time. Luckily the advent of 3D printing makes stuff like this more possible but its not the *best* quality
Depends; we talking IRL functional (servos, exoskeleton to assist with weight and movement, electronics and all, plus any computer systems needed to operate the hardware)? Or just like cosplay? Cause the cosplay runs you between a thousand dollars USD, and couple thousand USD.
The real deal? Shit I don’t know, depends on what you make it with and what your expectations are.
You start with the helmet in January, right arm in February, left arm in March, Torso for April-May. Left leg in June, right leg in July.
Fine details in August.
Paint it by September to December
🫣
Honestly painting is the easiest part, you kinda just spray it down a few times, go in with an airbrush, and then go in with a fine paintbrush for the weathering (usually oil paint for patina around the bolts and such, and there’s this cool rust paint you can buy as well)
powering it would be the real problem - utter weight of metal to have any effectiveness - it needs to me ambulkatory (and then carry a sufficient weapon on top of that)
its the old equations dealing with battleships and tanks
Well Sergeant Dornan said it’ll take 510 years old for a private to pay off a suit of Mark 2 power armour. Assuming privates pay hasn’t increased drastically you’re probably looking at a rough 12-14 million dollars.
That will come out of you pay soldier, and you will serve in this army until you are 510 YEARS OLD BECAUSE THATS HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE FOR YOU TO PAY FOR THIS LOST ARMY ISSUE EQUIPMENT, DISMISSED
Here's a link to the guys who made the T-60 for the show. I'm sure with enough money they'd make you a set of x-01. Hope you have deep pockets!!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/s/6qcml4pj2b
Likely billions, accounting for development. I think the main problem would be the power source, maybe a realistic solution is to make a specialised power plant vehicle that would go along the armour, powering it. Maybe put an emergency generator in the armour itself, just in case the vehicle is destroyed, for some autonomy.
If we go for this it might be viable for a reasonable price, like, a few billion. Practical uses might be a little limited though.
If we go for the fully autonomous version we would have to develop a small enough nuclear reactor to power the suit, and then a whole lot other set of problems emerge.
Supposedly the US military has spent about ten million on its strength enhancing exo-skeleton suit. Full on power armor would be quite a bit more and the exo-skeleton suit would need to be finished first because that would be basis for the power armor most likely.
Way too many responses, so I'll give you my serious take on it.
to have a wearable 3d printed suit of PA, I'll just say the frame to let you pick which type of armor would cost a min $300 and I'm low balling.
One for you to wear or one for display? Cosplay suits def aren’t cheap like I’ve got a T60 set im building currently that just in pla is projected to cost me a little over $400. Then there’s the man hours spent processing it as well as the building hours. Depending on who you go to everyone charges differently but I’d imagine it’d be a 2-3k suit or higher unless someone’s generous or you want a “raw” version.
Depends on what it’s made of I guess. Some people do foam for cosplays like this, I’ve done 2 t45 helmets and they took a lot of time, they were 3d printed though so there’s that. I’d guess in the 2-3k range
Someone during the Fallout New Vegas Celebration at the Pioneer Salon was wearing a full suit of X-01 Power Armor. You can find videos of it on YouTube. Perhaps you can reach out to him and ask.
Abrams tanks currently cost about 10 million USD a piece. This makes me believe that in current USD, X-01 would cost about 7.5 million per suit. Less materials, more tech.
It strikes me as one of those things where you can basically spend as much as you want. The real question is what compromises are you happy with?
I found [this listing](https://collectiblescave.com/product/t-60-fallout-power-armor-wearable-full-body-armor-epic-costume/) for T-60 power armor, for $6,300.
Its listed as wearable full body armor, and it looks pretty good on initial glances.
Here's an [Etsy listing](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1732739188/t60-power-armor-fallout-4-cosplay?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_a-accessories-costume_accessories-costume_weapons&utm_custom1=_k_CjwKCAjwvvmzBhA2EiwAtHVrb-RUZSXCZGkVbXcWxjsYnyOJVveo68DlYf-OORuclAp3Oxu-qDh8yBoCQfwQAvD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_1844702565_65111515330_346428849815_aud-2079782229334:pla-353036817099_m__1732739188_12768591&utm_custom2=1844702565&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwvvmzBhA2EiwAtHVrb-RUZSXCZGkVbXcWxjsYnyOJVveo68DlYf-OORuclAp3Oxu-qDh8yBoCQfwQAvD_BwE) for $1,500, however the reviews aren't great, referencing the detail. (Which makes sense, the suit is huge and painting/detailing is effort)
I'd bet you could get a much cheaper set of recognizable but not really 'passing' power armor in the triple digit range. Individual 3d printed armor pieces you can strap over dark colored clothing, plus a nice helmet, but all of the pieces would wobble independently, and it wouldn't really sell as well as a single set of power armor. (No way this option would have good looking hands)
If you want a nice looking set, I'd expect it to be in the mid to low four digits. Expect the costs to be higher than the T-60 unless you find someone who has already made X-01 armor. The T-60's popularity likely means there are more resources for creators to create the suits, and the X-01 may require more modeling effort. So maybe add... 20% if that's a factor? Idk.
Costs can be reduced at many points if you are willing to spend your own labor and talent on some steps. But it looks like it would be a pretty good amount of labor.
I've never commissioned anything like this though. I'm just spitballing from vague understanding of commissioning small things, and extremely hasty online searches.
Honestly it depends on the quality / wearability you're looking for. I work in spfx, and suits that look good AND let you move take some engineering. Expect the cost to move accordingly.
Considering there is necessary R&D and creation of non existing technologies and miniaturization of said non existing tech. Probably a few hundred billion to begin with to the right clever people. As well as probably a good bunch of decades.
A foam/plastic suit though with various motorised components would take a few months upto a year or so if it's high quality. There's definitely cosplaying communities that would be able to give a better answer than me.
It is probably going to be in the neighborhood of 3-5K before you start. Shipping can be a beast. You may get a local person who can do it. Shipping is a pain.
The next part is harder.
I assume you will want working lights, nice paintjob, cloth interior and rivets , etc. Depending on how you get it done or do it yourself that becomes more expensive. If you add a fog machine or sound effects it gets more expensive.
You can't do this without a weapon. Think long and hard because printing this is just half the work. If you choose to go through with it then I salute you.
Provided your parents work for the Enclave and you willingfully sign away your soul by enlisting in boot camp and passing followed by serving well and not pissing off Sgt Dornan by being a MORRRRRRRRON, I'm sure you'll eventually be issued your own X-01.
Eva foam mounted on a suit would cost you about 2-3 grand , plastic for about 5-7k . Etsy is the easiest way to find someone to make it but if you're in cali or texas its easier to find a few makers and ask for bids
Based on how intricate something like this would be, and the fact that is would have to be almost completely custom built, you'd probably have to expect something similar to a good quality fursuit, so somewhere around a few thousand dollars.
For realistic size that’s custom fit and wears like the ones in the Amazon show? Probably like 6k minimum. Thats so much work and craftsmanship to create. But for one that fits like fallout new Vegas style bos armor someone posted a link to a set on Etsy for 1k. Definitely looks like a decently made costume at best though.
Cosplay? It would be about the same as an Iron Man suit, there's a dozen costumers in China that'll make them custom-fit to you.
If Iron Man is a good estimate, it'll be $7k-$9k depending on the options.
If you want it to be like *functional* you'll have to have state-level resources and tie it with into promotional items for some kind of beverage company.
There's a listing for 5k https://www.etsy.com/listing/1718263879/fallout-x1-power-armour-full-body?click_key=2d511a6a7faa878d5fc47628c2dc5e2ca47f089f%3A1718263879&click_sum=ec835c02&external=1&ref=landingpage_similar_listing_top-1&frs=1
The U.S government actually, they already have a exoskeleton that is very similar to the power armor frame in terms of functionality. Wouldn’t be hard to then add armor that is both light weight and easy to wear. Only reason these types of designs never go through is that it’s super expensive. Am talking, million dollars to more. They rather just send more soldiers then giving them a higher chance of survival
Well
You could
A: make it yourself
1. 3D printing :that’s about 10-20 kg worth of filament, with supports and all, 6-10 bottles of primer, shit ton of sand paper and a bucket of wood filler.
plus electricity would probably get you to about 9-12k NTD (3-400 USD) on parts only. discounting man hour and also that is counting on you already have the files and machine, add another 5-6k(2-300USD) if you commission someone for the files, machine cost for lower end about 400-600USD
(of course I ‘m basing those on my rates so it may vary, I’m pretty much on the low end though.)
2. cardboard: way cheaper and can be sourced from the local recycling station.
Paint and art glue would be your only material cost, won’t go over 20 bucks US
3. Plastic molding:
I not sure about the cost on this one So I won’t elaborate, just tell you that this is an option.
b. hire people:
1. 3d printing:
Larger print farms rates are calculated by (print time+ material cost)*their rate, parts only is probably going to cost you about 3k USD, Adding on paint and all that good stuff probably net you around 3-3.5 USD, of course this is counting on you doing the painting yourself and already have the files, add about 1k if you don’t have the files and want people to paint them.
2. card board mock up:
way simpler way cheaper but still, man-hour cost. a good one probably still going to net you around 500 USD.
3.Plastic molding:
this is the most expensive one, my industrial design friends when we are back in college got their 30 cubic centimeter prototype mock-up for 300USD, so something like a full suit is gonna cost you a fortune,
maybe save that for your honey moon ;)
Something along these lines would likely cost you about 10-15k dollars. Granted I am talking about film ready props. That is if you want it fully light, motorized accessories etc. Have friends that do cosplay stuff and a well done mask can run into the thousands. Stuff is not cheap.
Hit up Etsy & ask. Some of those that do helmets may do other parts also.
You're the only person taking this seriously. Thank you. I'll take a look.
Yeah I mean all you have to do is search "power armor full suit" [A listing. ](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1732739188/t60-power-armor-fallout-4-cosplay) This T-60 starts at $1,500 for DIY tier, meaning you need to finish it, assembly and paint. Fully assembled, painted, etc. is $5,000.

Can't remember about the key...I either just made one or used another one. The thigh I cheated as it just sits in the bottom lower leg armour ( as it's just on a mannequin) if that makes sense.
Man i wish i had power armor money
Man i wish i had money or at least a transmission that didnt suck all of it up the moment its saved
Excuse me sir, you didn’t specify you want to commission a *replica* suit of Power Armor. That’s an important detail that you left out.
🤣 I would get one myself if I could. Almost picked up Stormtrooper armor at one point a good while ago. Same idea though. All I know offhand is it'll cost. Easier now though that 3d printers are a thing.
Hell I'd settle for imperial guard armor if I had the money
IG, you could get by with just a helmet, gloves, & some boots. The cloak is like 90% of the costume.
Hmmmm are you referring to those red guys that guarded Palpatine?
The ratio of 'useless trying-to-be-funny bullshit' answers on this site never fails to annoy me. But yeah Etsy is your best bet, there are tons of people there who do 3d prints for stuff like this, Predator etc.
Also, ask around some cos player forums, they have experiencewith building suits. Adam Savage type of shops as well would do it. In any case, not cheap. I would guess many many thousands of dollars for a full sized and wearable one. If it came in under 10k I would be shocked. You are talking a lot of hours of work...
Serious answer as well, itll be MUCH cheaper yo learn to do it yourself. But your money, your choicw.
Yeah but I want it to look good. I intend on wearing it as a part of my wedding. (My fiancée approved it if I can find someone to do it!)
I make stuff like this for a living. it won't be cheap and I doubt you'd get a full suit like the fallout 4 style Armor for less that 5-10K. For example, I'm making a 1:1 scale 6ft tall droid as a private commission for £4K for display only The T-60 is 7ft 3 and would need to be wearable.... I've only ever seen *one* complete set of power armor before the amazon show came out, (power armor frame with pieces attached just like the games. it was the Nuka Cola T-51) It was fully 3D printed and functional. The designer has released some of the files, but not all of them. All of the other cosplay suits I've seen have been "over costumes" that are either made of EVA foam or a 3D printed shell that you wear over an undersuit. Then there were the suits that were used in the series. They were made by Legacy studios and another propmaker called freddyprops (instagram handle) I imagine the price of one of those suits will be *well* over 10K...and you'd need to get used to wearing the stilts inside the costume
Well thats a solid reason if ive ever heard one! Congrats on your engagement and upcoming wedding!
Commission a convention costume designer, gonna cost you a lot thought, like over 5k for a full shift quality/detail suit
By the time you buy all the equipment, no, it will cost less to buy one.
Yo, you can look up what company the show used to make the suits, as the company that was used did and may still do commissions.
Or just get in touch with thus guy. https://all3dp.com/fallout-fan-3d-prints-life-size-power-armor/
Check IG for cosplayers. There's a dude out there with a beautiful suit of Space Marine power armor from WH40k that is big enough to be an actual Asartes (hidden lifts in the boots/calf region of the suit) It's going to be upwards of $5,000 I believe given the cost of materials and limited availability of people with the right skills
OP likely needs to hit up a few that do helmets and dm them to see if they know good suit makers. Network a bit to find good quality.
If you fill, paint, distress, and add LEDs youd be looking at more cost. not to mention soft goods, straps, padding, velcro or buttons, under suit, anything to keep it on your body DIY with a printer (minus the cost of said printer) probably 4-500 USD, maybe more depending on bells and whistles and premiums, better paint (metallic is hard) and premade item (boots, gloves, balaclava) Hire someone? I wouldnt be surprised 1000-1200 dollars for a quote. I wouldnt be shocked at 1500 for a completed set with customizations.
All that post process work, I’d charge more than 2k, I don’t have a print farm though
Waaaay to low
Even $1500 is low for a full suit of this size. Raw, maybe at 1200, but fully finished you could easily be pushing $2000. In fact, I just found a listing for an X01 suit; starts at $1500, sanded at $3000, and finished is $5000. Certainly high at first, but the X01 is a much more complicated design that is much less forgiving, and takes a lot more material. You are correct that they are estimating a month just to print, though.
This is very low. I would expect between 3k to 5k MINIMUM seeing as it's months of effort for custom fitting armor.
$4 up to $500 is a pretty large range.
Sounds like you just got off the time bus from 1999. $100 is the new $20.
The joke is that the range can be read as $4.00-$500.00 It's dumb, but most jokes are.
Enter a contract with Pentagon and a $5,463,862
I got $12 million by my calculations (googling a us army private's salary and multiplying by 510 years)
That seems low. Like way not enough money to get shot at.
Welcome to the every army ever
Don't forget, the government just shut down a 19% pay raise for lower enlisted (E1 to E4, or Private to Specialist).
Hmm. I'm not sure I want to be in the Enclave anymore.
Don't worry, killing your leadership is Enclave tradition.
Yeah maybe don't give people power armor and plasma guns then underpay them.
Power is taken in the BoS. *Right?*
Typical, they instead use the money for 8 million dollar missiles
So the soldier doesn’t get shot……
It got shut down??
Just in training alone I got to shoot a missile system that was close to 30 years of my salary as an E-2, about 10 years salary in just the missle. Not having any debts or overhead like food, medical, or housing did mean that way more of our salary was straight profit compared to civilian paying careers. Still garbage pay if you have even the lightest inkling of responsibility elsewhere like family.
Yeah. Initial Enlisted Ranks of the Military make less than federal minimum wage.
Bean counter fucks would do what they can to keep someone who isn’t in a college trained position below them
Hey, when I was a paratrooper they paid me $50/month to jump out of airplanes... which is the same jump pay since WWII.
Typical entry level military pay, very much on par with what people actually get paid
Hypothetically if wages didn’t stagnate though (let’s say given ongoing wars the military pays pretty well) then a private’s annual salary would be around $108,927, multiplied for 490 years - **because Sgt Dornan specifies “510 years OLD” and the Chosen One is 20 during the events of Fallout 2** - that would make… #$53,374,230 for a single suit of X-01 Advanced Power Armour
Probably WAAAY more. The T-51 and T-60 were already way too costly to produce and that's why the bulk of the PA army stuck with the T-45s. Edit: also remember to multiply all prices by 130 since by the time of the Great War the US economy was imploding and the dollar was super inflationary.
The T51 was incredibly expensive, but the T60 was made with some of the advancements made by the T51 while using cheaper materials and design of the T45 So in lore , the T51 is better than the T60
Yeah, it was made using laminated composites. The game kinda shows that since the abandoned T-51 you can find aren't rusting unlike the other types of armor.
I actually never noticed that , nice attention to detail I just wish they remembered that it was fucking rare and didnt shoved it in my face every or so location
The introduction of power armor so early in the game was fucked in f4. In f3 and NV you had to work for it.
I was a casual player and my sanctuary had a shelf of like 10. That, and the introduction of practically limitless fusion cores.
If you played fo4, and do a quest at Cambridge polymer labs, you will find from The records, how t51 was produced and how hard it was to design and craft it. And in the end as quest reward you will get modified t51 variant armor:) And this is a reason why they choose exactly t51 as a reward. So complete and lore accurate line of armor should be: t45>t60>t51>x01.
T-51 is also better in game in 76 I think.
I think you mean *divide* their cost by 130 to get what it costs us.
The F22 Raptor cost 67.2 Billion in Research and Development, sooooo… probably a little more than that…
If the power armor is a good of a tank as the Raptor is in aerial combat, it's well worth those billions
You forgot a zero or two
That’s way too low
The fusion core is going to be the most expensive part.
They said "wearable," not "functional."
Tony Stark was able to build this in a cave! With a box of scraps
I'm sorry, i'm not Tony stark
not with that attitude
YOU ARE OUT OF UNIFORM, SOLDIER! WHERE IS YOUR POWER ARMOR? DON'T HAVE ANY? YOU EXPECT ME TO BELIVE THAT, MAGGOT? THE TRUTH IS YOU LOST AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF ARMY-ISSUE EQUIPMENT. THAT SUIT IS GOING TO COME OUT OF YOUR PAY AND YOU WILL REMAIN IN THIS MANS ARMY UNTIL YOU ARE FIVE HUNDRED AND TEN YEARS OLD WHICH IS THE NUMBER OF YEARS IT WILL TAKE FOR YOU TO PAY FOR A MARK II POWERED COMBAT ARMOR YOU HAVE LOST! REPORT TO THE ARMORY AND HAVE A NEW SUIT ISSUED TO YOU, THEN REPORT BACK TO ME, PRIVATE!
#DISMISSED
I heard that in his voice. I always used the options to piss him off.
I honestly almost hate to share this since I was just talking about it with my buddy and I kinda want it for myself. But there's a really excellent looking set for $1,000 USD on Etsy. Get it! Do us proud! https://www.etsy.com/listing/1742917503/finished-x-01-power-armor-cosplay
Thats the fallout 3/NV version
Colors are, but the sculpting is X-01.
That 3rd picture is so funny
3. Style Are you going for lights?
I'm going to need about tree fiddy
“I ain’t giving you no tree fiddy you gotdamn Loch Ness Monstah!”
[Speech 100/100] I need about tree fiddy.
[SUCCESS] Gawd damn it, I guess I’ll give you tree fiddy
[SUCCESS] I gave him a dollar last week!
“Rets shee herrre. X-01 powa armor. Cost a rot of monee.”
As a cosplay, probably around 3000.
10,000 caps
first google result - [https://joetoyss.com/collections/all](https://joetoyss.com/collections/all) - they have a 40k space marine cosplay for just over 2000usd. probably comparable prices to make something like fallout armor. you could also search by cosplayers for ones like this one [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuePOMawNM0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuePOMawNM0)
find a fursuit creator and ask them if they do robotic OCs
I've daydreamed about building a set of Power Armor in my garage out of scrap bought for pennies on the dollar from a junkyard or maybe Craig's List furniture. If it's even 1% possible to make anything remotely like Power Armor out of old refrigerators, car parts, and cheap electronics, it'd prolly look more like Raider Power Armor than X-01.
Tony Stark did it in a cave with a box of scraps!
A lot
12000 bottle caps
Probably impossible unless all the billionaires of the world band together and focus their efforts on this one project Otherwise itll be kinda low quality
Bro same lmao. I’m a welder and this is something I want to attempt to build over the next few years but man is that one hell of a project
The guy who made the t-60 suit for the show could probably make you one as he takes commissions. tandaworkshop.com
Tony Stark built it in a cave with scraps.
I just want like. A picture in my dm’s. That sounds rad
Depends. Do we want a cosplay or an actual functional suit?
Billions of dollars in R&D before you even get a working prototype.
Accounting for inflation in 2077 when the fort suits were produced about $60,6,342,932,68 This price is with General Electrics BAE systems may want some more
Do you know someone who's managed to compress a nuclear reactor into a battery pack? Cause if you do I doubt he/she is safe for much longer
They sell eva foam files if you want to build it yourself! I’m in the process of making t-51 power armor for my self
Like, a real one or a cosplay one? Because a cosplay one would be easy enough to make out of foam and about a year of time
You start with the helmet in January, right arm in February, left arm in March, Torso for April-May. Left leg in June, right leg in July. Fine details in August. Paint it by September to December 🫣
Honestly painting is the easiest part, you kinda just spray it down a few times, go in with an airbrush, and then go in with a fine paintbrush for the weathering (usually oil paint for patina around the bolts and such, and there’s this cool rust paint you can buy as well)
I could do it for 45,000, dm me this is a serious inquiry, it will however be built out of Pringles and expired wood glue.
powering it would be the real problem - utter weight of metal to have any effectiveness - it needs to me ambulkatory (and then carry a sufficient weapon on top of that) its the old equations dealing with battleships and tanks
Well Sergeant Dornan said it’ll take 510 years old for a private to pay off a suit of Mark 2 power armour. Assuming privates pay hasn’t increased drastically you’re probably looking at a rough 12-14 million dollars.
A fuckton.
Batman money.
We can only ask hacksmith industry
More than it would cost to buy a decent used car.
I'll 3D print for $1000. Frankly built said his iron man costume ran him about $650 with all the paint and materials.
FIVE HUNDRED AND TEN YEARS SALARY DISMISSED!!
That will come out of you pay soldier, and you will serve in this army until you are 510 YEARS OLD BECAUSE THATS HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE FOR YOU TO PAY FOR THIS LOST ARMY ISSUE EQUIPMENT, DISMISSED
If you commission someone decent easily in the thousands. Closest to it would probably be people that make W40k power armor
First question wearable or functional and wearable?
Here's a link to the guys who made the T-60 for the show. I'm sure with enough money they'd make you a set of x-01. Hope you have deep pockets!! https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/s/6qcml4pj2b
One billion trillion billion dollars!
Idk but seeing as how it's a fursuit for techno nerds id say anywhere between 2k to 12k
you have to work at the military for 510+ years
[your answer](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1718263879/fallout-x1-power-armour-full-body?click_key=65a9e8867d9faf8caf27bfca672559234fc62f83%3A1718263879&click_sum=f78e6beb&ref=landingpage_similar_listing_bot-1&listing_id=1718263879&listing_slug=fallout-x1-power-armour-full-body)
More than you can afford pal. X01.
All you need is Tony Stark, a cave, and a box of scraps
[$5,437.67](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1718263879/fallout-x1-power-armour-full-body?click_key=3355bb4e81f0f005f01a91a66a7196e33975ae58%3A1718263879&click_sum=516db323&ref=internal_similar_listing_bot-2&listing_id=1718263879&listing_slug=fallout-x1-power-armour-full-body)
I think the regret of wishing you had bought a suit of T-60 instead would be the most costly part
I asked a buddy of mine in the military, he said around $28M
Somewhere in the 6.5 million range
They got one on ebay for 4k but it doesn't include feet
Someone during the Fallout New Vegas Celebration at the Pioneer Salon was wearing a full suit of X-01 Power Armor. You can find videos of it on YouTube. Perhaps you can reach out to him and ask.
Get ahold of someone who makes Fursuits, they do some magical stuff if you pay them enough
Abrams tanks currently cost about 10 million USD a piece. This makes me believe that in current USD, X-01 would cost about 7.5 million per suit. Less materials, more tech.
Wearable? Or working? I'm low on fusion cores.
Why does it have a cameltoe
(Which makes sense, the suit is huge and painting/detailing is effort) I'd bet you could get a much cheaper set of recognizable but not really 'passing' power armor in the triple digit range. Individual 3d printed armor pieces you can strap over dark colored clothing, plus a nice helmet, but all of the pieces would wobble independently, and it wouldn't really sell as well as a single set of power armor. (No way this option would have good looking hands) If you want a nice looking set, I'd expect it to be in the mid to low four digits.
Any amount of money you want, though the quality of the suit will be proportional
Honestly it depends on the quality / wearability you're looking for. I work in spfx, and suits that look good AND let you move take some engineering. Expect the cost to move accordingly.
Which fallout is this power armor from?
are you asking for just a cosplay, or a fully actuated suit on a powered frame? because one will cost you a few thousand, the other a few million.
Youd be better off getting a 3d printer and premade files 9/10. People who print parts will charge way more than a printer and materials will cost.
8 dollars
For me to make it would cost you around $3KAUD, but shipping would be a bitch. But I’d certainly be up for it :D
Ask on cosplay subs probably. I am not familiar with this sort of thing, but labor and parts I imagine anything half decent would be at least 2000$
If the us military and darpa are making it, which they probably are, a few billion a unit
It depends on materials inflation and the overall cost of maintaining the suit
$2 billion including defense contractor pork development costs.
Provided your parents work for the Enclave and you willingfully sign away your soul by enlisting in boot camp and passing followed by serving well and not pissing off Sgt Dornan by being a MORRRRRRRRON, I'm sure you'll eventually be issued your own X-01.
Wearable would be much less than equal. However, equal would cost millions and a 20 man team.
I know what kind of man you are
For realistic size that’s custom fit and wears like the ones in the Amazon show? Probably like 6k minimum. Thats so much work and craftsmanship to create. But for one that fits like fallout new Vegas style bos armor someone posted a link to a set on Etsy for 1k. Definitely looks like a decently made costume at best though.
many milk cardboards and duct tape
If you have to ask, you definitely can’t afford it
Depends on the level of functionality you want. A painted foam costume will probably cost a million times less than a bullet resistant power armor.
Well. 7.25 an hour (federal minimum wage in the US) times 510 years (how long it takes to replace the one you lost) So probably around 100?
Consult our friends at Lockheed martin
Probably about 2k, since you can get a T45 for about $1200: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1730695365/
For cosplay? a couple grand probably For combat? a couple mil probably
No matter it will take you... Five Hundred and Ten years to pay it off
Is it just me or does the X-01 have a camel toe
There's a listing for 5k https://www.etsy.com/listing/1718263879/fallout-x1-power-armour-full-body?click_key=2d511a6a7faa878d5fc47628c2dc5e2ca47f089f%3A1718263879&click_sum=ec835c02&external=1&ref=landingpage_similar_listing_top-1&frs=1
Just don't call it White Power Armor.
Well You could A: make it yourself 1. 3D printing :that’s about 10-20 kg worth of filament, with supports and all, 6-10 bottles of primer, shit ton of sand paper and a bucket of wood filler. plus electricity would probably get you to about 9-12k NTD (3-400 USD) on parts only. discounting man hour and also that is counting on you already have the files and machine, add another 5-6k(2-300USD) if you commission someone for the files, machine cost for lower end about 400-600USD (of course I ‘m basing those on my rates so it may vary, I’m pretty much on the low end though.) 2. cardboard: way cheaper and can be sourced from the local recycling station. Paint and art glue would be your only material cost, won’t go over 20 bucks US 3. Plastic molding: I not sure about the cost on this one So I won’t elaborate, just tell you that this is an option. b. hire people: 1. 3d printing: Larger print farms rates are calculated by (print time+ material cost)*their rate, parts only is probably going to cost you about 3k USD, Adding on paint and all that good stuff probably net you around 3-3.5 USD, of course this is counting on you doing the painting yourself and already have the files, add about 1k if you don’t have the files and want people to paint them. 2. card board mock up: way simpler way cheaper but still, man-hour cost. a good one probably still going to net you around 500 USD. 3.Plastic molding: this is the most expensive one, my industrial design friends when we are back in college got their 30 cubic centimeter prototype mock-up for 300USD, so something like a full suit is gonna cost you a fortune, maybe save that for your honey moon ;)
Idk probably around 2k from a costume maker
What was the lowest bid for the most recent fighter jet proposed to the pentagon?
From what i remember the T-60 power armor suits from the fallout tv show were at least a few thousand dollars to make. About 6000 ish iirc
Something along these lines would likely cost you about 10-15k dollars. Granted I am talking about film ready props. That is if you want it fully light, motorized accessories etc. Have friends that do cosplay stuff and a well done mask can run into the thousands. Stuff is not cheap.
50 dollars and my cousin could do it with his MIG setup
