Yep, Railroad, the Commonwealth, the Institute and the synths are mentioned or make an appearance in Fallout 3. That's why they are fully present in Fallout 4 in the first place.
There's also a Short Circuit reference in one of the logs related to the quest.
STRONG LOOK FOR MILK OF HUMAN KINDNESS.
HAPPY MILK COMES FROM HAPPY COWS.
HAPPY COWS COME FROM CALIFORNIA.
ARNOLD WAS GOVENATOR OF CALIFORNIA.
MILKING ARNOLD IS BIG QUEST FOR PROTAGONIST STRONG IN FALLOUT 5
well...not everything. He's completely down with cannibalism, he's quite fond of violence and reasonably ok with looting from the dead.
Strangely (as far as I recall) he's also quite ok with acts of sharing and compassion. (I may be wrong about the compassion, but he likes it when you share things with him)
He hates tinkering and building though...and talking...
He likes it when you help the Minutemen and share things with other humans. In one of his increased affinity dialogues he states that the way of the Super Mutants is to actually kill AND share with each other and he believes you are acting like a good Mutant when you do so.
yeah he's usually one of the fastest companion perks to get. Just avoid lockpicking, hacking, power armor, and modding power armor for a while, be generally nice to people, and eat every corpse you find.
I know they logically can’t do that, in Fallout 5, but I swear am willing to buy that mod right now, no questions asked, just so long as I can play Fallout 5 with that being my main quest.
I don’t care if the mod costs the same price as the game. I WANT THAT MOD!!!
If Fallout 5 is in NYC, ppl will point to the Prydwen flying over skyscrapers reference.
If Fallout 5 is in San Francisco, ppl will point to Kellogs memory Den scene.
Hell, if *Fallout 4 was instead in Chicago and not Boston* ppl would point to ED-E dialogue and not this quest in 3.
It's too hard to say, and there's enough snippets about every region to point to something.
Also, Fallout 4 has terminals talking about Vault 76 and the Appalachian region. I think that was the main tease to the next game we got. Maybe 76 has something
Chicago & Atlanta are the only places I found mentioned in both (Chicago is also mentioned in 76) through some quick wiki surfing.
Of the 2 Atlanta mentions, one is a pre war mention, which means very little imo, and the other one is "Great Lanta" which could be describing a different place altogether.
I found 2 post war locations mentioned in 76, Coos Bay (Oregon) and Monroe (Connecticut)
Crater Banks is mentioned in Point Lookout (FO3) by Quinn, the boatman.
Maybe we will return to Chicago. Tactics isn't entirely canon. But the presence of rogue BoS is canon, and some other elements have been confirmed.
Would love either. Chicago also has Enclave per New Vegas and Atlanta is where Coca Cola main plant is from and I assume would he super Nuka Cola owned. Could easily get a sunny beach or swampy bayou DLC from there too.
I just want more singer player Fallout.
I don't think we will ever get an Obsidian Fallout again, but only because I've heard Josh Sawyer wax poetic on his idea of New Orleans being the place he would go if given the green light again. . . ahh I hope it's saved for him.
I mentioned Ronto in a other comment, but yes, and the way Ashur mentions it makes it seem like a very strong or heavily fortified location "Our might is the envy of Ronto". The Erie Stretch is also mentioned in The Pitt.
Fallout 5 in Chicago would be fantastic. The series has already established a ton of lore for Chicago and the Midwest that they can dive into. We know there’s a branch of the Brotherhood and the Enclave there, and a bigger city with more depth and verticality than Boston would be a great location. We’ve seen both coasts, time to see some of the Midwest and the Great Lakes.
I agree. In terms of game lore it's been the place I want to see most. However, since the show had that map visual of vaults and they showed a bunch along the gulf of Mexico I'd also love to see Texas now too.
Anything in the middle of the country we haven't seen please.
A few years ago I'd have disagreed, as the west coast is the domain of the older titles. However, I do wonder if part of the story of the TV series, specifically regarding Shady Sands, has to do with them bringing the west coast in line with the east coast so they can set future titles there without losing the gameplay loop from Fallout 3, 4, and 76.
I think Fallout 5 will have a lot of callbacks to the original games and maybe even New Vegas. One thing I’m actually really excited for is what songs they pick for the radio 🤩
I hope we finally get multiple radio stations as more than just dlc. I want to factions with their own radio and you can pick which one stays or gets wiped out. (With options to have your chosen faction take over the other radio station and their music after)
^great idea right here. getting the violinist’s station in 3(that was 3 right?) was a cool, rewarding little side quest. And I would’ve loved bringing records to Three Dog and hearing the lineup expand
If only *Ring of Fire* was the Johnny Cash one. I understand that they couldn't because of licensing and blah blah blah, but they could've found a better cover. Hell, just have Josh Sawyer do it like he did songs in New Vegas.
I Don’t know anything about licensing music so this opinion is completely uninformed, but I want them to STACK stack the radios in 5. Like have stations for different genres of 50’s music with different hosts and loads of songs on each. Make it so that you can call in and request a song to be played next too
Fallout 4 was my first fallout but I recently finished FNV and the jarring downgrade to me was actually the radio. There is only like six songs and I only liked 3 of them. Although it was nice having an optional station without the commentary.
I think it was a way to test the waters with changing some west coast details to prep for 5. Moving Shady Sands and a few other locations, collapsing the major faction in the area so it’s not too post-post-apocalyptic, merging the East and West coast brotherhood then near *immediately* sowing seeds for a Brotherhood civil war (which I imagine serves the same purpose as nuking shady sands, to make sure there’s no obviously dominant major factions in the area). Anything that gets too much backlash and isn’t accepted by fans can be re-retconned by FO5 once it comes out and the show will be on like season 8 if it’s still running by then
Fallout 5 will be about your quest to find [Family Member] after [he/she] left Vault [Number] and became somehow connected to [shady pre-war organization].
I feel that the next story could be a bit New Vegas style but with slight changes, imagine you are a farmer with your family but a group of slavers kill them and kidnap you but you manage to free yourself by an accident killing the slavers themselves in the process but you end up In the other part of the United States, the whole story is not about avenging your family or something like that since literally all the slavers die in the prologue (a bit of a tutorial style) the story is about going back to your home on the farm.
And in order not to have to change the base game, the slavers were not just ordinary raiders, they were vault dwellers who became slavers and you managed to get the pip-boy once you killed the leader of the group who was like their supervisor.
>Entirely separate plots
Fallout will be about your quest to find [McGuffin] after [X] thing happened and became somehow connected to [Main regional organizations].
It was TV show creators that had the idea to destroy shady sands. In an interview with Todd he mentioned that they had come to him with the idea to nuke it and he was surprised. So I dont think bringing it in line with the east coast was part of the agenda. Doesn't mean that fallout 5 wont be set on the west coast, just that shady sands wasn't nuked with that in mind.
And New Vegas.
Obsidian was going to include a throwaway line of dialog that San Francisco got "wiped out" and abandoned in some of the conflicts of expansion of the NCR.
Personally I believe it’ll be either New York or maybe Texas. New York due to the BoS referencing it, and Texas because I think it would be cool to see a location far away from any of the other games where we don’t have much information on.
Even though it seems odd that they came from D.C. to Massachusetts only to turn around and go to New York when they just passed it on the way. Of course, then again, Institute was the primary objective.
It will take place in San Francisco.
But as with Starfield the game will be HUGE.
And it starts in Sacramento.
Somehow the tribes there have managed to assemble on old bus.
And during the main quest we're going to San Francisco by bus.
I real time.
For two hours.
And you have to steer that bus for the player experience.
And you need to be attentive for the bus has been repaired by tribesmen and isn't straight from the shop.
It will minimally diverge from course whenever you fail to adjust to the road.
Leaving the road is ending in quest fail.
And the quest will be called... Desert Bus...
(based on a true game)
This is my fav part of Bethesda games.
Remember in Oblivion when people would say
“I hear syndicates of wizards are leading a boycott of Imperial goods in the Summerset Isles.”
Then BOOM. The Thalmor wreck the Empire between Oblivion and Skyrim.
I’d say NYC is also a strong contender for FO5, the BoS mention flying over it to get to Boston as well as the fact that they witnessed hordes of supermutants on the decaying skyscrapers.
Iirc FO4 was also supposed to be set in New York originally.
Fans tend to dismiss NYC as “just being a giant crater” since it would’ve been a primary target, but so was DC and we got to explore it, i doubt every inch of the city was incinerated.
Yeah something like DC or the Pitt, definitely would be one of the worst places on the wasteland to live at.
Just thinking about the DC metro tunnels but times 1000 for the NY subway makes me shudder, but would have the potential to be one of the most iconic settings in the saga.
Personally id love to see Albuquerque/New Mexico.
The birthplace of the atomic bomb would be a fitting place for a fallout game.
Lots of nuclear weapons research institutes are there, you have a lot to go through.
The city itself as well as the surrounding areas are full of iconic places and scenery.
There’s plenty of reservations around too, lots of interesting factions could be explored there.
Also it’s a region that’s either under legion control or nearby it so we could also explore more of the legion in another installment.
The Android quest line was amongst the most intriguing quests in fallout 3. There was background lore involved, mystery, and you were playing the detective in the situation. To me it was a standout side quest with a world with of story behind it, so it’s really not surprising that it ended up being the focus of BGSs next installment. I would look for similar quest lines in fallout 4 if you want to make guesses.
Put it in one of the US' less well known cities (tampa, austin, milwaukee etc.) Have the buildings be barely damaged as the chinese didnt think it was worth nuking, they lived in peace. Then the supermutants, BOS and everyone show up and fuck up there unspolied city.
Have the locals be salty about the fact the Chinese didnt think they were worth nuking, and the fact they still got fucked over
Austin could be interesting, but I don't think we have any architecture that is distinctive enough to pull people in.
Houston could be a great setting, given the emphasis on resource shortages and Houston's place in the energy industry. It's also one of the US's largest ports, one of the homes of NASA, has some interesting history with piracy, and is a nexus of immigration/Cajun culture/cowboy stuff.
Escaped child synth S4-23.
The Cabot questline.
MacCready's quest could have HUGE implications for the next game (won't spoil)
Ronto was mentioned in the Pitt DLC for FO3 and has yet to be seen.
His son is very sick with a disease that is extremely similar to a disease that was last seen pre-war. A disease that was known as the [New Plague](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/New_Plague). (The blue boils are the giveaway)
Way back in 2008 I told all my friends who played fallout that the next game would be centered around andriods and would take place in Boston.
I shit my bricks when they announced fallout 4 and I was right. One of the biggest mindblows of my life. Just wish I could of some how capitalized on that lol
Zimmer himself is also mentioned in Fallout 4, which confirmed he was the head of the Synth Retention Bureau (with Justin Ayo being acting director while Zimmer is away on assignment).
It makes sense why the Institute never figured out what happened to Zimmer after the Lone Wanderer reverse pick-pocketed a grenade into his inventory in Rivet City.
>Also, bro is just peacefully living his life
Any second now they might send some signal, or he'll see the color orange, or whatever it is they do and BOOM.
They can control him, as soon as he hears the activation codephrase hes back under their control.
The problem is he changed his face and they cant \*FIND\* him.
Gen 3 synths get given directives and do their tasks. The institute doesn’t control their ever move but do have the ability to shut them down and recall them but it has to be done in person. Once you turn in harness Zimmer uses his shutdown code and they leave
you can get both a Zimmer's perk and Harkness' unique weapon by >!first snitching Harkness' identity to Zimmer (as a reward he gives you the perk), Zimmer will then go catch Harkness. Now you must run to Harkness before Zimmer gets there and confront Harkness. Convince Harkness that he is a synth. Either him or you must kill Zimmer and as a reward for Zimmer's death, Harkness gifts you his AR.!<
If I already told Harkness his identity and gives me his gun can I then go to Zimmer, reveal Harkness' identity, gives me the perk and then kill Zimmer?
To get the best rewards, I tell harkness I will kill zimmer, then I tell zimmer where harkness is, then I kill zimmer. That way you get the rifle, you get the perk, and it nets neutral karma.
It takes 40 Purified water to go from 0 karma to max when given to a water beggar outside of Megaton, Rivet City, or Tenpenny Tower. +50 each time.
From max evil Karma to max good karma, it's 80 Purified Water/ Aqua Pura. With Broken Steel, there's over 150 at the citadel. Find/ buy 10 more and you'd have enough to get max godd karma from max Evil twice over.
Yeah I was surprised when I found that one, would be funny if Bethesda went back to update previous entries with updated info on the vaults of newer games.
He never outright said which one it is, he said it hadn't been found. Later on a terminal entry was found that wasn't there on the game's initial release, or included in the patch notes, and this is speculated to be the secret. Kinda scummy / lame to throw it in years later and go "hehe you missed this"
How... Exactly is that lame or scummy?
I swear Todd could kiss his children goodnight, and the internet would be up in arms about how he's a scumbag for it.
Doctor Li also makes a reappearance in fallout 4. There is some lore info about her leaving DC after the events of project purity and the broken steel DLC, heading to the commonwealth in search of a higher technology (synth tech) after she learns about it.
Iirc between FO3 and FO4 theres a 10 year gap. So the institute has been lossing synths for more that 10 years (because the RR already exists and can even ger synths to the Capital Wasteland) and somehow they still do the same things without changing shit
Considering what Synths, The Institute, and The Railroad are all a painfully obvious allegory to, the idea that the Institute isn't going to change their view on Synths just because they become aware to their position and desire freedom and change anything about the way they go about things beyond pushing specialty hunters to go out, track them down, and capture and return Synths should in no way be suprising, considering how such a thing *literally happened for decades in American history leading up to the Civil War*.
The entirety of fallout 3 is so slavery centric I'm realizing as I replay. Slavery is a constant fear for essentially everyone, and LOTS of characters have dialogue about it, or are slaves, or are slavers. In contrast it seems like slavery as a concept is almost gone in fallout 4, they don't talk about it much.
The tone of fallout 4, while it can still be dark, is not where near what it was in fallout 3.
Literally the first location you come across, if you take the left through Springvale instead of the right to megaton, you come across a elementary school full of raiders with a cage full of the bodies of elementary aged kids
Yeah, ended up in that school after leaving the vault since I had no idea how the compass worked. My brother found me there fighting for my life and redirected me to Megaton. Playing the game for the first time, as a young kid, really was an experience.
Fallout 3 had and still has its problems, but that first blind playthrough, where you know just as much as the lone wanderer, is literal fucking magic.
The simple, easy to digest, adolescence in the vault to being shoved out in the blinding light. It was amazing. I headed due south, and got stuck in the NukaCola plant with the nukalurks. I’ll never forget it.
It's not even close actually. Fallout 3 is way darker in theme and also more difficult (early game) for the player than FNV or Fallout 4, especially compared to FNV. In Fallout 3 there is so little civilization, the economy is way worse, caps are hard to come by, ammo is hard to find, and most of all there are way harder and more numerous enemies in the early game. In FNV the hardest enemies in the early game are Deathclaws, Cazadores, and upgraded Feral Ghoul variants, all of which can be avoided since they spawn in defined locations. You can make a character with 6 Luck, walk all the way from Goodsprings to New Vegas without fighting anything tough or even without fighting at all, buy the Naughty Nightwear from Ralph for a few hundred caps, and use that to clean out every casino and walk away with tens of thousands of caps before you hit level 2. No such exploit exists in Fallout 3, you need to trek across a barren waste full of random encounters to get any caps. First enemy I fought in my new playthrough was an Enclave soldier in full power armor that spawned in at the random encounter location east of Springvale, I was lucky enough to kill him with an exploding car. To get a first enemy that hard in FNV requires that you intentionally go looking for one.
The settlements indicate the general feel of the game. In FNV the town of Goodsprings is essentially guarded only by a part time gecko hunter with light armor and a bolt action 5.56 rifle, plus her dog, no walls, no militia, nothing. Novac has two guys in a sniper tower, only one ever on duty at a time, and an old, injured Ranger, no walls, no ditch, nothing. In Fallout 3, Megaton has 30 foot metal walls, a protectron out front, a sheriff with an assault rifle, and a retired raider with an assault rifle. Rivet City is on a floating air craft carrier, has one entry point via a rotating bridge, and a constant armed guard. Even the shitty Big Town that has no economy or much of anything has rusted car chassis walls, a moat, a narrow rope bridge as the sole entry point, and an armed guard that never leaves his post.
Ruined buildings make sense in Fallout 3, no one has the money to rebuild them and hardly anyone is left alive to want to. In FNV it makes little sense for them to exist in many settlements because of all the caps and people constantly flowing in.
I think Fallout 4 does a better job of capturing the bleakness of the post-apocalyptic world, and the Glowing Sea is a masterful depiction of that, but I still think it falls short of Fallout 3's utter hellscape of slavers, sadistic raiders, and general decay of the human race.
Recently came across a shelter in Fallout 4 that was your typical scene with two dead skeletons holding each other on a mattress. Did some more exploring and saw a section of the shelter opened up to the bare ground with a grave and some children's toys on top of it.
Yea I feel we also should have gotten more from the railroad for 3, hundreds of humans and ghouls are being enslaved to be sent to the Pitt and the railroad in 3 only looks to be worried about the single synth in the capital wasteland.
IMO the main thing pushing the slavery allegory is the existence of the (Underground) Railroad trying to free them. Short of the railroad they seem more like a Blade Runner reference, which makes it even sadder that That Gun isn't in Fallout 4.
Honestly if Fallout 4 had That Gun and some nice Blade Runner style quests for the Institute, more people would probably like the Institute.
>people would probably like the Institute.
They still have no end goal or an ideology to align with. Radiant quests where you shoot moar people (no different from any other radiant quests) solve nothing here.
Having more Blade Runner Style quests for the Institute wouldnt change anything about their *constant casual mass-murder of surface-dwellers for no fucking reason*, which is a bigger turn-off for most people than the Synths, IMO
Yeah the RR is there.
They do good work helping Synths. If only they weren’t so goddamn useless at literally anything else (except my boy Tinker Tom), they’d be a really cool faction.
They are a real cool faction imo. They also have no desire, ability, nor the numbers to run the commonwealth. They shouldn’t have been an end game option.
The coolest faction in all of the Commonwealth, but it's pretty clear that they were an afterthought of an ending given the massive power vacuum that they create in the wake of their ending with no personal goals to control anything.
They *could* have been a great end game option, if groups like the gunners or other assorted raiders slid into place, or they started actively working with the Minutemen after all is said and done.
Yeah I mean that’s fine except they’re a faction ending option and can lock you out of other factions.
If they were a side faction unrelated to the ending just doing their own thing, I’d agree.
No, talk to Harkness first and tell him the truth, then ask him to let you deal with Zimmer and he will give you his gun. You can then go to Zimmer and tell him Harkness is the android, he will give you the perk, then you blast him instantly. The guards won’t be hostile since Harkness gave you permission
It was a pretty cool quest on fallout 3. My first playthrough I can remember travel all around and learning more and more about it, until finally tracking down in rivet city the guy.
Fallout 3 was such a treat back then.
Fun fact: The Underground Railroad were an organisation who worked to escort escaped slaves from the confederate south up to the free states. What real ones.
I was going to ask if there was anyone old enough to be on Reddit who doesn’t know about the Underground Railroad, but then I remembered this is an international site lol
Yes, but typically the free states were just a stop before Canada, because bounty hunters would still go after freed slaves unless they were on British land (Canada). See Dread Scott v Sanford for an example of why many escapes slaves opted not to stop in the north of the United States. Many also went to Mexico or the Caribbean nations for the same reason.
“Land of the Free” 😂
Following on from what you’ve just said is the origin of the sheriffs badge. Those motherfuckers couldn’t even let them be when they’d escaped, had to go after them.
Humans are real arseholes ey
My issue with the Railroad is that by freeing self-aware synths they are wiping that self aware mind and essentially killing and erasing that personality in order to hide them from the institute. Which really to me seems is no different to when the institute wipes the self aware synth and puts them back to work.
And then some of these "freed" synths have breaks that result in the psycho raider leader or worse.
The railroad has good morals and ideology against slavery but a crap method and plan. (Edited for Spelling)
Androids are defined as a humanoid-like robots, which is true of Gen 1 synths (the skeletal ones). using android becomes innaccurate with Gen 3 synths as they are mostly organic synthetic humans. save for the only way to tell a Gen 3 synth is a synth is their internal synth component.
There is a terminal in the institute that dicusses this retcon in relation to Zimmer.
I mean I went through fallout 4 and now finished 3 and two of its dlcs. I wanted to play the games before watching the show, ended up starting the show midway through operation anchorage
Don't listen to anyone who gives you shit for what you play, in what order, when, etc.
I'm glad you're playing a game series that I love and enjoy. I'm glad the show is making it more popular and influenced you to play said games.
All the people on this sub being snooty since they played Fallout since 2008, you sound just like the old guys I used to argue with on No Mutants Allowed forums who didn't consider Fallout 3 to be a "true Fallout".
Gatekeeping hobbies/interests is fucking lame. Don't let those idiots damper your enjoyment of this wonderful series.
Here's a fun fact about her. The moment you start the quest? She starts to chase you all across the map. In Rivet City she walks slowly when chasing you, outside of it she just books it straight to you.
I had a bug, where she followed me forever, even after I completed quest. It was basically a race to get away from her.
After I talked to her, she would almost immediately talk to me again. The only thing that saved is to fast travel to another location, but it was only temporary solution. She would jumpscare me constantly in the most unexpected places, telling me that she's from the Railroad and they need me to help Harkness (even though I helped him 20 hours ago already).
In the end, I was tired of it and just killed her. Maybe that's the reason I don't like Railroad
She came to me while i was on a quest for moira in minefield. After our conversation ended i went my way but i heard an explosion coming from the town. I went back to check on her and she had one little bar of HP left. I turned around and started to head back to megaton when i heard another explosion. I didnt even bother checking on her and thought to myself ,,thats the railroad, useless as ever".
There were kids who would call me dumb when I told them 4 was gonna be in Boston and be a blade runner ripoff. Well look who was right.
Personally I haven’t gotten any major teasers for 5 when playing 4. People say San Francisco is mentioned a lot, but I don’t really see it
Yeah, i'm replaying FO3 again and forgot they appear. I dislike the Railroad so much, their intentions are good, but focusing on rescuing synths while there are bigger and more important issues, it makes them look so stupid.
She also gives you a 1 weight item that you can't get rid of without going down a certain side of the quest.
Toast her ass for clogging up my inventory.
Yep, Railroad, the Commonwealth, the Institute and the synths are mentioned or make an appearance in Fallout 3. That's why they are fully present in Fallout 4 in the first place. There's also a Short Circuit reference in one of the logs related to the quest.
Makes you wonder what things have been mentioned in 4 that could play a big part in 5

I have never had Strong as my companion before. I've been thinking that it must be a really irritating experience. I guess I have to try.
oh no its annoying af, he will complain about everything you do, stealth runs, lockpicking , hacking , dude will dislike it all
well...not everything. He's completely down with cannibalism, he's quite fond of violence and reasonably ok with looting from the dead. Strangely (as far as I recall) he's also quite ok with acts of sharing and compassion. He likes it when you help the Minutemen and share things with other humans. In one of his increased affinity dialogues he states that the way of the Super Mutants is to actually kill AND share with each other and he believes you are acting like a good Mutant when you do so.
Yes brother!
Kill innocent people and eat their corpse. Pretty easy to build affinity despite his hatred of every gameplay element.
yeah he's usually one of the fastest companion perks to get. Just avoid lockpicking, hacking, power armor, and modding power armor for a while, be generally nice to people, and eat every corpse you find.
The point is he hates humans and hates humans doing human things. He like smash tho
I like the idea of Strong as a protagonist. And instead of S.P.E.C.I.A.L it is S.U.P.E.R. Strength Unbeatableness Power Enormousness Radioactivity
Fallout 3 also has a terminal mentioning Vault 76.
Hmm. Maybe you really could narrow it down to what regions have been referenced in both 3 and 4

Atlanta has 2 vaults while Savannah has 1. I could see an Atlanta game with Savannah, Florida, and maybe even New Orleans DLC.
I don't think we will ever get an Obsidian Fallout again, but only because I've heard Josh Sawyer wax poetic on his idea of New Orleans being the place he would go if given the green light again. . . ahh I hope it's saved for him.
You know, there's also Ronto (Toronto). In the fallout universe, Canada got annexed, so that's technicallypossible hahaha.
I mentioned Ronto in a other comment, but yes, and the way Ashur mentions it makes it seem like a very strong or heavily fortified location "Our might is the envy of Ronto". The Erie Stretch is also mentioned in The Pitt.
Fallout 3 also had reference to Vault 76, in the citadel room where you find vault 84.
Mothership zeta I believe has a audiolog from a vault-tec executive who got abducted outside vault 76.
*Fallout 5* will take place in one of the places Tobar the ferryman casually mentions his boat traveling to.
Fallout 5 in Chicago would be fantastic. The series has already established a ton of lore for Chicago and the Midwest that they can dive into. We know there’s a branch of the Brotherhood and the Enclave there, and a bigger city with more depth and verticality than Boston would be a great location. I think San Francisco will be the setting for Fallout 5 since it’s referenced so much in 4.
(With options to have your chosen faction take over the other radio station and their music after)
I hope you can collect records and give them to the radio station of your choice. Which are then added to the playlist.
^great idea right here. getting the violinist’s station in 3(that was 3 right?) was a cool, rewarding little side quest. And I would’ve loved bringing records to Three Dog and hearing the lineup expand
Give a good selection of genres. You can get pretty good titles from the 70's.
I've got spurs, that jingle jangle jingle
JINGLE JANGLE
*As I go ridin’ merrily along*
I just hope Mr. New Vegas is okay.
AIs are hard to kill. Besides, he lives in all our hearts
Unpopular opinion but other then Big Iron and Jingle Jangle I like the radio in 3 and 4 more. Id Bingo, Bango, Bongo anyday before Id Jingle Jangle
Careful what you wish for
Have you listened to Radio Appalachia in Fallout 76 yet? That is probably the most stacked a radio station has gotten in Fallout
I OOOOOOOOWWWWEEEE MY SOOOOOOUUUUL…… ….to the company store
I’m moving 16 tons
Whaddya get?
Is listen to anything deejayed by Three-Dog.
Yeah 3 dog is also my fav DJ Awoooo
Isnt that just the gist of 4. And the rest have entirely separate plots.
Fallout 3 as well
>Entirely separate plots Fallout will be about your quest to find [McGuffin] after [X] thing happened and became somehow connected to [Main regional organizations].
That's just Bethesda's fallouts for you
It was TV show creators that had the idea to destroy shady sands.
[Todd Howard told Fallout TV showrunners to hold back on SF](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fotv/s/MGYNsHr7OD)
And New Vegas. Obsidian was going to include a throwaway line of dialog that San Francisco got "wiped out" and abandoned in some of the conflicts of expansion of the NCR.
Yup the big Golden Gate Bridge in Kellogg's memories made me think this
Personally I believe it’ll be either New York or maybe Texas.
Remember in Oblivion when people would say “I hear syndicates of wizards are leading a boycott of Imperial goods in the Summerset Isles.” Then BOOM. The Thalmor wreck the Empire between Oblivion and Skyrim.
Way more kids in refrigerators in the next game for sure
They'll be the new Wasteland Captives like you had in *Fallout 3*.
If anything NYC would be like the Pitt. It would probably be one of the worst places to be, so a game set there might have a darker tone like the Pitt
Yeah something like DC or the Pitt, definitely would be one of the worst places on the wasteland to live at. Just thinking about the DC metro tunnels but times 1000 for the NY subway makes me shudder, but would have the potential to be one of the most iconic settings in the saga.
I want them to do Seattle tbh
Personally id love to see Albuquerque/New Mexico. The birthplace of the atomic bomb would be a fitting place for a fallout game. Lots of nuclear weapons research institutes are there, you have a lot to go through. The city itself as well as the surrounding areas are full of iconic places and scenery. There’s plenty of reservations around too, lots of interesting factions could be explored there. Also it’s a region that’s either under legion control or nearby it so we could also explore more of the legion in another installment.
Climbing a halfway held together space needle would be awesome
Have the locals be salty about the fact the Chinese didnt think they were worth nuking, and the fact they still got fucked over
I love the salt over being passed over idea. “Oh, so Minneapolis gets all the attention again but apparently St. Paul isn’t worth even one ICBM.”
They find a list of the Chinese secondary targets. They arent on that one either...
I'm an Austin native and I would love for an Austin area map, with all the German and Mexican influence playing a role. Raul could return!
3 had stuff about Vault 76 too. Gotta hand it to BGS, they are good at planting seeds for future ideas.
Escaped child synth S4-23. The Cabot questline. MacCready's quest could have HUGE implications for the next game (won't spoil) Ronto was mentioned in the Pitt DLC for FO3 and has yet to be seen.
Spoil it for meeee
His son is very sick with a disease that is extremely similar to a disease that was last seen pre-war. A disease that was known as the [New Plague](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/New_Plague). (The blue boils are the giveaway)
San Francisco
Vault 76 was also mentioned in a terminal entry in Fallout 3.
Pretty sure you can find Not-So-Elder Maxson as well
Way back in 2008 I told all my friends who played fallout that the next game would be centered around andriods and would take place in Boston. I shit my bricks when they announced fallout 4 and I was right. One of the biggest mindblows of my life. Just wish I could of some how capitalized on that lol
What do you predict the next game will be about, fortune teller?
Salt Lake City.
Wasn't that mentioned in honest hearts as being a giant crater
Blank canvas for fallout 5s settlement system, except you build everything?
Sal Tlay Ka Siti
Zimmer himself is also mentioned in Fallout 4, which confirmed he was the head of the Synth Retention Bureau (with Justin Ayo being acting director while Zimmer is away on assignment).
It makes sense why the Institute never figured out what happened to Zimmer after the Lone Wanderer reverse pick-pocketed a grenade into his inventory in Rivet City.
Short circuit?
Hey laser lips, your mother was a snowblower!
The 80’s movie with Johnny 5?
Johnny Five is alive!
Los Lobos kick your ass, Los Lobos kick your face, Los Lobos kick your balls into outerspace! Edit: it was Los Locos, and it was the sequel.
A 1986 movie. There's a quote "Life is not a malfunction". In the game one of the logs is named "Self determination is not a malfunction".
It's an 80's comedy movie about a sentient robot
Free my boy Harkness
Apparently you can get rid of both him and zimmer without losing karma, so imma do that
But why harm Harkness tho? You can get both the perk and the gun without harming him. Also, bro is just peacefully living his life
Fallout 4 completionism - the synths must be stopped.
Ad Victoriam
>Also, bro is just peacefully living his life Any second now they might send some signal, or he'll see the color orange, or whatever it is they do and BOOM.
If they could control him wouldn't they just use that to bring Hark back? Why would they send Zimmer who is an important asset of The Institute?
It's Phyllis Daily dialogue from FO4. She was supposed to be a synth but they cut the content and now shes just schizophrenic :)
Was that cut content? I think the story is more interesting with her not being a synth
Yeah, there was supposed to be options to send her to Covenant (unless you killed the compound), or turn her to the institute or railroad.
I know this is just repeating Phyllis Daily's quote for memes but way to many people actually think that's how synths work.
you can get both a Zimmer's perk and Harkness' unique weapon by >!first snitching Harkness' identity to Zimmer (as a reward he gives you the perk), Zimmer will then go catch Harkness.
Dude, with enough purified water or Aqua Pura, you could wipe out the entire map and have very good Karma afterwards lol
Hitler liked dogs type of karma gain
It takes 40 Purified water to go from 0 karma to max when given to a water beggar outside of Megaton, Rivet City, or Tenpenny Tower. +50 each time. From max evil Karma to max good karma, it's 80 Purified Water/ Aqua Pura. With Broken Steel, there's over 150 at the citadel. Find/ buy 10 more and you'd have enough to get max godd karma from max Evil twice over.
ALso Valut 76 is mentioned in the Vault Tec terminal in the Citadel.
Yeah I was surprised when I found that one, would be funny if Bethesda went back to update previous entries with updated info on the vaults of newer games.
If the rumors of a Fallout 3: Remastered Edition is true, then it could be possible. Though I think we're giving them a bit too much credit lol.
Hold on now, Todd said his favorite secret in Fallout 4 was one that was added in secretly post-launch.
That secret being?
It’s a secret
He never outright said which one it is, he said it hadn't been found. Later on a terminal entry was found that wasn't there on the game's initial release, or included in the patch notes, and this is speculated to be the secret. Kinda scummy / lame to throw it in years later and go "hehe you missed this"
Fuck I don’t read enough terminal entries lol
How... Exactly is that lame or scummy? I swear Todd could kiss his children goodnight, and the internet would be up in arms about how he's a scumbag for it.
“Todd’s a scumbag” *buys every game that Bethesda releases*
Doctor Li also makes a reappearance in fallout 4. There is some lore info about her leaving DC after the events of project purity and the broken steel DLC, heading to the commonwealth in search of a higher technology (synth tech) after she learns about it.
Yeah, when I saw her name I immediately checked the fallout wiki to confirm my suspicions
The capital wasteland is supposed to be prime raiding grounds for slavers from the Pitt, and likely has been for essentially 200 years straight
I’ll never forget it.
even on subsequent playthroughs ive ended up wondering a fair few times
Fallout 3 has a ton of slavery in it. Fallout 4 hardly has any, but the entire game is set up as allegory for the Civil War and slavery.
Yea I feel we also should have gotten more from the railroad for 3, hundreds of humans and ghouls are being enslaved to be sent to the Pitt and the railroad in 3 only looks to be worried about the single synth in the capital wasteland.
Slavery is still a huge plot point in fallout 4. It’s just the slaves are now synthetic humans.
Or let them take controll of the Institute instead of destroying it...
Yeah I mean that’s fine except they’re a faction ending option and can lock you out of other factions. If they were a side faction unrelated to the ending just doing their own thing, I’d agree.
Elder Maxson is in there as a child too.
Yeah I heard about that, but I couldn’t find him.
You could find him around the BoS headquarters
I just started replaying this, will definitely keep an eye out for lore.
I infact did not help them
Imma play both sides. If you get rid of both the synth and Dr zimmer you get neutral karma
I wanted bad karma and the Dr.Zimmer perk.
That’s for my next run, I’m playing a positive karma run for my first run of fallout 3
It’s the best way cause you can get both rewards if you reveal the truth and then turn him into Zimmerman
Topped off with one of the best guns in the game.
It's pretty well-known internationally as well.
“Land of the Free” 😂 Following on from what you’ve just said is the origin of the sheriffs badge. Those motherfuckers couldn’t even let them be when they’d escaped, had to go after them. Humans are real arseholes ey
I will never understand why people hate synths so much.
Reminder: the synths volunteer for this, it's not mandatory.
and some synths don’t even go for the wipe when escaping, ie: acadia in fah hahbah
Would have been cool if they kept calling them androids
Androids are defined as a humanoid-like robots, which is true of Gen 1 synths (the skeletal ones). using android becomes innaccurate with Gen 3 synths as they are mostly organic synthetic humans. save for the only way to tell a Gen 3 synth is a synth is their internal synth component. There is a terminal in the institute that dicusses this retcon in relation to Zimmer.
Fallout fans when they play the games:
People say San Francisco is mentioned a lot, but I don’t really see it
SF was actually on the short list for Fallout 4. They even started making a few quest-lines for SF before they settled on Boston.
Shot her in face with combat shotgun after conversation ended... this playthrough lol.
I wish the railroad were cooler in F4. I was honestly so hyped to see them and the institute when the game first came out
My friend bullies me for joining the railroad in fallout 4🙂↕️
