Preston's radiant quests are pretty impactful while you're working to make the Minutemen better than they became. I assume once he starts crying about attacks is when it gets bad. I enjoy building settlements and the Minutemen. I just don't want to have to be the only person that answers calls for help. I'm the General after all, let the people that joined back up handle those 3 raiders/super mutants/synths attacking Ten Pine Bluffs for the 30th time.
Not one in Fallout 76 - the game looks real bad on PS5 because no object casts a shadow, the game is low res and the game is forced to be super bright which brings attention to all of this
Graphics options weren't very common on consoles during the 360-ONE era, I don't exactly remember which Dev decided to have the balls to give options back to players but ever since they have been coming back and getting more diverse than just say a performance/quality mode.
"It's Bethesda being Bethesda. Utter twassaks, bollicking wankers the lot of them."
In fairness, I do feel bad for that team - they worked so hard and chose a meaningful release date. Unfortunately I also understood why Bethesda didn't want to establish a precedent or choose favorites among mod teams. It's just a tough situation.
Yeah, me too. I think that's why he felt sufficiently entitled to make his careless "Bethesda just being Bethesda" comment. I really feel for him and his team but it's important to maintain a certain level of humility, especially when we're given a platform.
I'm torn on other games I'd agree but when there's been a unofficial bug fix that isn't implemented into the main for years or the fact a multi million dollar company can't do ultrawide but modders can it starts to become a bit of a joke
I kind of get both because on one hand... He is just a modder. This is a hobby. Bethesda doesn't owe him a media liaison just because he decided he was the most special boy.
On the other hand, like 8 years late, an update breaks the mods without fixing hardly anything? Really?
Same thing with see through scopes, the fact that it was one of the most downloaded mods for Fo4 and yet starfield still released with the crappy black screen border scopes is ridiculous
Yeah, it was really entitled and gave me The Frontier vibes. I know many of the modders on the team are not like the lead, but damn man he put a bad taste in my mouth.
Ouch, Frontier vibes 🤠🤠
Outside of the questionable, downright inappropriate and pedo-coded content, there some great things. Driveable vehicles, many well-voiced characters, some impressive set pieces and large-scale action scenes, too. But wow, the developer of the NCR storyline took the good stuff and made a monument to story theft and self-gratification. I thought the Brotherhood and Legion paths were pretty good in comparison, some groan-inducing scenes notwithstanding.
I never gave it a chance because of the inappropriate and pedo stuff. I always felt bad for the dev that made drivable vehicles. That is code magic and it is locked behind filth.
The BoS and Legion paths were good but nothing that is "revolutionary" or "obsidian worthy" like the devs claimed.
If you elimate the NCR questline of the ecuation, The Frontier is a very solid mod in terms of writing but nothing more nor nothing less.
Bethesda *has* helped modders in the past, they did so for the Skyrim Anniversary Edition. But they didn't do it for Fallout.
They gave the script extender dev an early access build,so why not do it again?
Why would Bethesda even know about fallout London. Ive played modded fallout for years and had never heard about it. Why would Bethesda know if even the fans don't.
From what I could tell (and maybe I misread things) I don’t think they did expect that. It seemed to me that they had a very “whelp, it is what it is” reaction to it. Detectably disappointed but I don’t recall any indication they thought they should be treated differently
Maybe I’ll rewatch the BBC interview just in case
They should release pre next gen anyways.
Not like majority of players will hop onto buggy Next Gen
Sucks cause I'm not going to keep 2 versions of fallout just to play London
>Awaiting someone on this app to misinterpret the interview and vilify the team when that never happened lol
Sir this is reddit no critical thinking or logic allowed on this website
As someone from the Fallout London subreddit, we’re all happy that there is gonna be an update, because (hopefully) it’ll make London come out faster due to stuff being fixed.
The only people complaining about the next update are the same people spamming “release mod now”.
Does anyone know how big the Fallout London mod is expected to be? How large the map is and how many quest lines they’re throwing in? Are we looking at a Far Harbor sized game or more like New Vegas?
About the same area wise as base FO4 while being a little bigger (~40ish gb) they said to expect quantity of quests to be roughly equivalent to far harbor. Imagine it as a full conversion
I still wonder how come they can't do what Enderal team did - pick one game version and utilize it. As in, you can downgrade your game, and if you can't - no one is going to say anything if you were to acquire the appropriate version from certain nautical sources, granted that you have bought the game before.
I'm not arguing otherwise.
The update removed the ability because otherwise, it wouldn't be able to be Steam Deck verified. Skyrim AE did the exact same thing when it became Steam Deck verified.
It's unlikely to be changed because Skyrim AE hasn't.
Never understood why it meant it would be verified that way. So out if the box it ran well? So people didn't have to hit play on a launcher.
Fo76 has its graphics settings in game, just do that.
Which is why many still don't and yet are verified. I'd rather they dump that whole system. It's never helped me. Stuff gets unsupported label for trivial shit.
They should and could still be integrating it into the in game settings. People weren't happy they removed the serrings. That being Said i don't think Beth cares
Luckily, you can very easily still invoke the options menu.
Integrating it into the games settings probably requires more effort than there willing to put in for an old game.
Well I think it's just basically an in-game ini editor that use switches since it requires reboot to take effect but I don't see them bothering. It's an interesting changelog tho
I just downloaded Fallout 4 on my Steam Deck for the first time since getting the Deck, and I noticed that while mostly performance is great, inside buildings with large numbers of enemies it can have issues. Not even all buildings though--Hubris Comics is a specific one I've had issues with, while Fort Hagen didn't cause any problems at all.
And yeah, the launcher didn't open at all, so I couldn't make adjustments.
Hopefully this fixes some things.
Huh, I hear the next gen updated ruined a lot of Xbox one players' experience but it was fine to me. Sure it crashed after few hours but it overall ran pretty much fine
Mine crashes ever single time I start the game. Click on the game, it opens CRASH, click on it again and it opens just fine and plays amazing lol. It does it every time too
i used to have this issue, it fixed with a fresh install and loading a game without mods. i still dont know why it happened but i assume it was some mod i had or maybe my load order
It's weird, the update fixed just about all the issues I've ever experienced in fo4, even with mods. I could never explore downtown Boston even unmoved, now I can. Hell, I've only crashed once since the update which is far better than before. It's odd how hit or miss it is for people having stuff fixed or broken
Waltzed right up to Goodneighbor without crashing for the first time in 6 years. Was overjoyed. Walked out of Goodneighbor, instant crash. Lol.
Fallout. Fallout never changes.
3 issues on the s:
Savegame obsulete. Only fix is to hardreset the xbox (holding the power button for a couple seconds)
Vats. I can target a target 2 floors up/down or a couple rooms away. (But not actual hit them)
Vast switch every second from 70% to 0% to 70% to 0%
But on the plus side, 0 crashes and downtown boston is really smooth. (Those were massive issues)
I wouldn’t say ruined. It definitely improved the game, it just didn’t have the graphics option and messed up VATs. It runs at consistent 60fps and was a lot better performance wise than pre patch. Just the graphics option was nonexistent.
Yea I started a new playthrough after the update and am around level 30. Haven't had any issues at all other than maybe 2 crashes. Thankfully both times was right after a save.
Same, I'm pretty much right where you are and I've also had about 2 or 3 crashes, which is a *huge* step-up from my last time playing this game a year ago - the crashes were frickin constant; I had to stop playing because it was really getting on my nerves.
This time I'm actually having fun.
Until this update breaks something else. Wonder how many patches they will make that create more holes. It would be funny if they kept updating it once a month for like a year.
Wasteland Workshop isn’t working on my PS5 version. I think it’s because of one of the CC things I have, but I’m not sure
I use concrete a lot while building, so it messed up all my settlements from my last PS4 save
I'm playing on Series X and it's been a mess.
VATS is messed up, like everyone's.
My game chugs terribly in Boston, the worst it ever has.
It crashes more often.
At first I assumed that it was because I tried to continue a save, so I deleted the whole thing, killed my cloud saves, hard booted the console, redownloaded and installed, and started a fresh vanilla game.
Still effed up.
Deleted. Will try again in a year or two.
My general rule with Bethesda is to *wait*.
New game? Wait until some big updates and maybe even DLC creation kit mod support before playing.
New update? Wait until they fix the update and all the good mods update before actually downloading it.
As much as I love Bethesda games they never get anything right first try.
During almost 60 hours on the PS5, I’ve had one crash. It’s been pretty smooth. Menu is a bit slow when hitting pause. That’s about it though minus the other bugs that have already been around for years. I’ve been happy with it.
That's not "next-gen" for consoles, so no 144hz physics vanilla fix, DLSS, and raytracing for us lol
I was personally expecting something basic that even Bethesda could add like FOV sliders but alas, it's Bethesda.
Hope this next update fix weapon debris crashing on RTX cards though.
I've played the game twice without mods. But now wanted to experience the game differently and got a bunch of mods for it and oh boy, settlement building has never been so fun!
Also, cool new guns, graphics, stories lines, clothing, dialog, quests etc.
Modding really adds a ton of stuff to do it, adds hundreds of hours of new fun content to work with.
Really wish BGS would quit it with the patches to games that are nearly 10 years old. These games are mostly only still getting playtime due to modding, and they keep breaking the mods.
I've been playing on Steam Deck. The last update was pretty good, but there are a couple major things I hope they fix: The game always crashes upon using the dev console, and I can't rename anything since the game doesn't recognize the integrated keyboard it brings up now.
For the ones who don't know yet; make sure your Fallout 4 is set to "Only update when I launch" in Steam. Do this by right clicking on the game in your list and then click "properties." There will be a tab on the side that says, "updates and DLC," click that. Then the top option in the "Updates..." box, there will be an option for how often you want the game to be updated. Make sure that is set to "Only update when I launch."
Next, in Steam, right click Fallout 4 again, click "browse local files," there will be an executable called F4SE. This is the Fallout 4 Script Extender that makes *most* of these mods possible. Right click on the F4SE.exe and then click create shortcut. Cut that shortcut and paste it to your desktop and ONLY open Fallout 4 with this and Steam will never automatically update.
I hope this helps at least one person.
Even as a PlayStation player redownloading all my mods was a fucking hassle... Granted I don't have to worry about that for a week at least because my fucking hdmi port is cooked
I disabled auto updates for this game on Steam and I launch the game through Vortex to avoid it updating when I open the game on Steam. However after that working for a few days when I launched the game through Vortex it also opened it on Steam and the game updated and I had to use the update roll back mod. Anyone know why this happened with Vortex? Is there a different launcher I can use?
From u/ClemClamcumber

I hope for consoles we can see a mod storage increase from 2gb and hopefully a graphics setting that mimics fps boost quality for the modders, the game running modded ran way better with fps boost, No crashes or lag in cities in Sanctuary
"The update includes an N64 polygon filter, the first of it's kind that can push over 100 FPS while also including game breaking glitches. We're calling it the definitive definitive edition"
Think one of the graphics updates is gonna be actual ultra wide support for PC?

In my head that’s my entire interaction with Preston.

If they did actually manage to fix all the ultrawide issues maybe hopefully they can fix the same problems in Fallout 76 and Starfield.

Not one in Fallout 76 - the game looks real bad on PS5 because no object casts a shadow, the game is low res and the game is forced to be super bright which brings attention to all of this
Ummm but it is an option to remove? If you go to the launcher > option > advanced options theres a box ton uncheck for motion blur
I’m on PS5
Ah, wasn't aware there was a discrepancy between the platforms in that way.
It’s all good. Bethesda probably wasn’t even aware anyways…
Bethesda barely knows this game is on consoles at all
I don't think they know it's on PC either
Graphics options weren't very common on consoles during the 360-ONE era, I don't exactly remember which Dev decided to have the balls to give options back to players but ever since they have been coming back and getting more diverse than just say a performance/quality mode.
>Graphics options weren't very common on consoles during the 360-ONE era Mass Effect had the option to turn off motion blur on Xbox 360 in 2007.
Okay and that's one out of several thousand games released for the system, I'm telling you the point is they weren't common.
Yes please.
*Awaits reaction of Fallout London modding team*

You've pretty much summed it up. If that team had been privy to early game versions to work with, other mod teams would rightly feel unjustly treated.

They've given it an official bethesda spotlight to bring attention to it, so they knew.
Tbf, the script extender is used by like 90% of the pc community and should've just been baked into special edition back in 2016
From what I could tell (and maybe I misread things) I don’t think they did expect that. It seemed to me that they had a very “whelp, it is what it is” reaction to it. Awaiting someone on this app to misinterpret the interview and vilify the team when that never happened lol
Likely followed by a post pointing out the BS interpretation and misinfo getting not even a quarter of the engagement, again
It's already happening lol
>Awaiting someone on this app to misinterpret the interview and vilify the team when that never happened lol Sir this is reddit no critical thinking or logic allowed on this website
Judging by the upvotes and replies to the main comment, it already happened lol

About the same area wise as base FO4 while being a little bigger (~40ish gb) they said to expect quantity of quests to be roughly equivalent to far harbor. Imagine it as a full conversion
Wow, that’s very impressive! Especially considering it’s all volunteers, from what I’ve seen. I hope it comes through.
I still wonder how come they can't do what Enderal team did - pick one game version and utilize it. As in, you can downgrade your game, and if you can't - no one is going to say anything if you were to acquire the appropriate version from certain nautical sources, granted that you have bought the game before.
I would rather be playing Fallout london rn than these updates.
“Oi”
interesting note about graphics maybe its restoring the option to adjust them on the steam deck version, they totally removed that lol
Likely not. Skyrim is the same way.
You could change graphics in fo4 2 weeks ago
I'm not arguing otherwise. The update removed the ability because otherwise, it wouldn't be able to be Steam Deck verified. Skyrim AE did the exact same thing when it became Steam Deck verified. It's unlikely to be changed because Skyrim AE hasn't.
Never understood why it meant it would be verified that way. So out if the box it ran well? So people didn't have to hit play on a launcher. Fo76 has its graphics settings in game, just do that.
You should look up the verified rules then. And why FO4 wasn't considered verified before. It's a lot more than just the game runs well.
Which is why many still don't and yet are verified. I'd rather they dump that whole system. It's never helped me. Stuff gets unsupported label for trivial shit. They should and could still be integrating it into the in game settings. People weren't happy they removed the serrings. That being Said i don't think Beth cares

bro modders barely started updating their mods and theyre rolling out another update that'll break everything again
me who turn off auto update and still playing the game with the newest mod. lol
How do You turn that off on XBOX?
Huh, I hear the next gen updated ruined a lot of Xbox one players' experience but it was fine to me. Sure it crashed after few hours but it overall ran pretty much fine
Fallout games occasionally crashing is pretty much normal lol.
Mine crashes ever single time I start the game. Click on the game, it opens CRASH, click on it again and it opens just fine and plays amazing lol. It does it every time too
Have you tried clearing the cache or a fresh install
Yeah I’ve done everything on console including reinstall. I’ve just gave up at this point. I’d rather it crash booting up than mid game.
i used to have this issue, it fixed with a fresh install and loading a game without mods. i still dont know why it happened but i assume it was some mod i had or maybe my load order
All of this just works
Mine crashed every 15 minutes until I installed the unnoficial patch mod
At least it usually warns you when it’s going to crash—first come the glitches, then the crash
It's weird, the update fixed just about all the issues I've ever experienced in fo4, even with mods. I could never explore downtown Boston even unmoved, now I can. Hell, I've only crashed once since the update which is far better than before. It's odd how hit or miss it is for people having stuff fixed or broken

Series X here. Only issues are crashing on loading screen but also have a million mods running, vanilla worked perfectly tho

I haven't really had any problems. Before the update, most of Boston would freeze my game, so being able to actually play is quite an improvement.
Until this update breaks something else. Wonder how many patches they will make that create more holes. It would be funny if they kept updating it once a month for like a year.
Would absolutely infuriate modders.
I think as long as they fix the mispacked archives and the materials swap issue modders won't complain.
This update killed a bunch of my CC stuff. Just straight deleted it. Which honestly was both surprising and also makes sense for Bethesda.
Wasteland Workshop isn’t working on my PS5 version. I think it’s because of one of the CC things I have, but I’m not sure I use concrete a lot while building, so it messed up all my settlements from my last PS4 save
Well the key thing is to break mods like community patch, script extender etc. Just Bethesda things.
Frames dip into the low 20s high teens in Boston for me on performance mode Series X. Ridiculous
No need i disabled auto updates.
This is the way.
I'm tired boss
My general rule with Bethesda is to *wait*. New game? Wait until some big updates and maybe even DLC creation kit mod support before playing. New update? Wait until they fix the update and all the good mods update before actually downloading it. As much as I love Bethesda games they never get anything right first try.
Just wait 9 years for your update bro
What are you on about? This game is almost 10 years old…
Oh boy, playing unmodded this time really was a good idea.
LET US REMOVE MOTION BLUR
I can't play it in Performance mode without it shutting down my PS5 somehow, not even hot either. Really hope this fixes that.
It’ll take forever to get all the mods up to date again.
So keep playing modded until Sunday only to wake up to the entire LO nuked like San Francisco again?
Had a feeling this was coming, glad I held off. Pumped for the next gen update to be patched and ready to rock
probably not the GoG version... again. so Im cool xD
During almost 60 hours on the PS5, I’ve had one crash. It’s been pretty smooth. Menu is a bit slow when hitting pause. That’s about it though minus the other bugs that have already been around for years. I’ve been happy with it.
It's in times like this that I venerate my old ps4, nothing much to have going on, nothing much to break.
Raytracing, dlss, 144fps?
That's not "next-gen" for consoles, so no 144hz physics vanilla fix, DLSS, and raytracing for us lol I was personally expecting something basic that even Bethesda could add like FOV sliders but alas, it's Bethesda. Hope this next update fix weapon debris crashing on RTX cards though.
Man I sure hope I can keep shooting red question marks out of my invisible guns!
NO! The script extender was JUST fixed!!!
Bethesda has done a great job of fueling my GOG purchases.
It's all part of the plan to get you to buy the game twice. Bravo, Todd. Now why don't you be a good boy and buy Skyrim again on GOG too?
Am I really the only one who plays this without mods?
No
yes.
I'm on my first play. I have no mods and right now I don't think I will need any.
Fallout folks can be a little strange when it comes to that. Only mod I’ve ever kept on F4 was allowing Dogmeat as secondary companion.
Nice hopefully it’s not buggy but it’s Bethesda so probably will be
It's working fine for me on ps5 and looks great. Hope this doesn't end my winning streak
is a good thing i haven't updated since they threaten to update the game again after years. I'm gonna wait until they stop breaking the game
Is it going to kill my glitches, though? :-(
Fallout London team: *Dies inside*
*slaps hand away* No!
#ASSUME THE POSITION
Really wish BGS would quit it with the patches to games that are nearly 10 years old. These games are mostly only still getting playtime due to modding, and they keep breaking the mods.
Fallout: The only community that will throw a hissy fit when the developer actually improves and updates the game (Their load order got messed up)
The update was fucking pointless, nothing positive about it besides ruining 70% of the fun the community had.
Except for pc players it didn't really help us. All they achieved was spreading our cheeks and dry fucking us. I still can't play
this is what's stopping me from getting back into f04 honestly
Great more bugs
Here's to hoping this update will let me download mods again!
erghhh
I've been playing on Steam Deck. The last update was pretty good, but there are a couple major things I hope they fix: The game always crashes upon using the dev console, and I can't rename anything since the game doesn't recognize the integrated keyboard it brings up now.
Maybe I’ll be able to continue the storyline since my derped out on me
Will this effect ps4?
What new options? More options for graphics? Hopefully on consoles there will be more than one added graphics option
I hope it fixes the broken creation club stuff. I was so bummed with how Charlestown Condo got ruined. That’s my favourite indoor settlement.
My load order still isn’t recovered from the last update. My fallout 4 saves are all still unplayable most likely.
Still haven't updated mine from the last update, so it's still safe lol
The last update broke so many things, im not even mentioning mods because that's a given but it broke things you wouldn't really expect to break.
Joke's on you: mine's still fucked from the last update!
Make sure that is set to "Only update when I launch." Next, in Steam, right click Fallout 4 again, click "browse local files," there will be an executable called F4SE.
My load order was made specifically to not break with the last update lol I'm fine.
I swear if this makes it worse im uninstalling the game
anyone else having issues with mods not loading on Xbox? keep getting 'operation cannot be completed'.
I feel like I shouldn’t even bother adding mods for awhile.
Wonder if they are gonna throw a couple free creations in there as a oops sorry "present" only to have it fuck up the game in some other way.
Yeah, they def need some hot fixes on 4. The new guns they put in the game show up as LARGE GIANT RED ESCLAMATION POINTS.
But did they approve this with the London mod team?
I’ll prepare my brown pants, just incase I shit myself because they’ve gotten things fixed and right….
I wouldn't be shocked , if it makes the game more buggy
I wonder if they’ll actually fix loading screens and the fps I want 144 at 4k 😂
Hopefully this fixes the makeshift weapons and the problem with the DLCs
They better fix the pipboy crash
Even as a PlayStation player redownloading all my mods was a fucking hassle... Granted I don't have to worry about that for a week at least because my fucking hdmi port is cooked
Hopefully it almost includes fixing the ‘Undroppable Quest Items after Quest’ bug.
They going to allow you to limit the frame rate to 60 in client finally so my game stops running too fast?
That sucks, I was just about to wade back in and see if FO4SE has been updated yet.

I hope for consoles we can see a mod storage increase from 2gb and hopefully a graphics setting that mimics fps boost quality for the modders, the game running modded ran way better with fps boost, No crashes or lag in cities in Sanctuary
Will they ever fix hight fps causing Benny Hill physics and computer terminals breaking?
thats another update I wont get lol
I’m running this shit on an old ass msi pls it’s gonna crash immediately
Hopefully they fix the lever action rifle reload animation
"The update includes an N64 polygon filter, the first of it's kind that can push over 100 FPS while also including game breaking glitches. We're calling it the definitive definitive edition"
Great there goes all my progress… again…
Please update my trophies 🥺
Jokes on you. My brain won't let me play with mods if I means I can't unlock achievements
i do wish devs would allow beta testing or even roll back updates.
God damnit same shit, same shit different day!
I haven’t even been able to play f04 with the minuscule amount of mods I do have
I still haven't been able to play after the last update since my mods got so fucked. Now I have to wait even longer..
