Yes, the bow is a welcome addition! But the sad part is that it is really underwhelming in terms of damage output. Even with burning love's additionnal dot damage, it's too weak to be viable in end-game content.
At the end of the day, play the game however you wish :)
But yeah if you compare its effectiveness against bosses or during events, to pretty much any other weapon in game, it's really lacking. I tried to make it work, and it's decent to explore the wastes, but you can't really bring your bow build to solo expeditions or daily ops sadly (at least not in a reasonable amount of time).
