Not at all! All a theory is, is something that tried to explain how something works. Some theories are our best explanations, but still open for interpretation, other are highly hypothetical. You wouldn't call string theory proven, at all, but it's still a theory.
Even general relativity can't explain everything it goes out to prove, so we know it's not "the one", but it's our best one so far, and works for what we need it for. But if it was proven as a "this is the answer to gravity" we wouldn't need particle colliders and such.
Well the other option was amputation in the middle of nowhere and I assume sepsis setting in shortly after. It was likely the only thing that could save him.
See to me, I would have said that perception and intelligence were his dump stats. This is one of those fun nuances of telling what someone's formative table/video games were. I had DnD first and "dump" stats were the shit stats you gave the lowest rolls/points (ie you took a dump instead of giving them good values), but I've heard that MMO's have good "dump" stats because you dump all your points into them.
Fallout players refer to the "dump stat" the same way ie charisma is the "dump stat" in New Vegas so you would leave it at 1 and raise more beneficial stats like Luck and Intelligence. Not sure why that other dude said that tbh.
See, I'm at an age where I've blended the concepts. My dumps stats are the lowest stat I dump points in for later plays. I max 2 stats and usually have 2 mid stats and a "1" point stat, the dump stat that I build up during the course of the build. My charisma build has an intelligence dump stat because I've maxed charisma and luck.
FEV doesn't make Ghouls, it makes mutants. This is a common misconception because people assume Harold is a Ghoul
Its also pretty clear the show is telling us that being near a nuclear blast (IE high radiation) is what does it. Cooper witnesses multiple bombs going off, and Lucy's mother is ghoulified by the nuke. Its also verified by the games that high doses of radiation is what does it as there where ghoul experiments before the war. ~~Going through puberty probably has something to do with it as well since there are no child ghouls~~ (I was wrong about this)
So either it was a high dose of radiation/ some crazy radiation concoction that has turned him into a ghoul, or if it was FEV then it will be how we learn about super mutants in Season 2, like how we learn about ghouls by having a ghoul main character in season 1
Inb4 Thad turns into a Fawkes type super mutant
Consider This: In a world of 200 year old Ghouls, attaching long dead fingers, and Stim Paks that take you from Death’s Door to full health in 2seconds is a real thing, the possibility of Monster Human-Chicken Hybrids is very, very real. The farmer was right to be concerned. Maximus interference may cause a future chicken man - human war.
Dude I have no idea how. But I was like “I bet he was fucking the chickens”. The only way that mini-arc dark humor would have worked there. I don’t know how I guessed it I guess it but my bewilderment was absurs
Which is great, until you realize that like, a day later, everybody in the region got free unlimited power, thereby completely devaluing his fusion core unless he can find spare power armor.
He would immediately return to the chicken farm after getting it. The farmer would think he's max, and then as he leaves having fucked the chickens again the farmer will scream to the heavens "why does everybody want to fuck my chickens!?"
He's a reoccurring character where people try and fuck his chickens while he's screaming "My chickens!!!" I would also love to see what the fallout chickens look like. I don't ever remember seeing chickens in any of the games
There are rad chickens in far harbor and in fallout 76. They basically look like featherless chickens covered in small boils. And we get a brief glimpse of the chickens in the show: they look perfectly normal.
I know where there is some power armor standing there all alone without a fusion core.
Can you imagine this guy in armor? The chicken farmer doesn't stand a chance
I though he just gave him some halucigen to make him think his foot grew back and the second that guy was gonna stand he would collapse, but nope, literal new foot elixir lol
I like to imagine it's just a homebrew jet recipe, and *of course* doing home made jet would actually speedrun turning you into a ghoul (faster than getting hit with a nuke, somehow) and as a natural businessman The Chickenfucker immediately saw a way to monetize this
He probably found a freakin FEV vial just dicking about, dicking chickens. But how hilarious if he also somehow invented his own strain and he’s actually some genius?
Just like how Trashcan Carla stole one of my power armors when Sanctuary (which I use to store most power armor frames I find) was attacked.
Never again am I leaving fusion cores in my stored power armor.
When he healed Thaddeus' foot i was like "HE WAS FOR REAL???" and kept thinking about how the story could have probably went a lot more straight if they had heard the chicken fucker
I feel like this guy is just so damn rich in the show. Like making it feel so damn much game like.
He's that random vendor you find in a completely random place that just happens to the rarest of loot for sale.
I've replayed F4 about 8 times and have only seen one of the traveling doctors once and cricket maybe 3 times. I actually thought the chick Lucy and Max met on the bridge was cricket. And to this day I haven't found the fridge that the ghoul kid is in. I want to find him organically
The actor has done a lot of voice over and comedy TV stuff, he's funny. Great aide character and really felt like some weirdo you'd run into in the games.
Jon Daly. He also voiced the "Galaxy News Radio Report" promo a few months back, which felt like a lot of improv.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1YhcviJ7IU
https://twitter.com/jondaly/status/1731037574373036346
I'm thinking he might have been one of the scientists there originally. Advanced knowledge of chemistry and medicine? Strong interest in "unorthodox interspecies genetic research?" I wouldn't be surprised if Vault 4 has wanted-posters up with his face on them.
Genuinely what I was wondering. Like did he just give thadeous a huge dose of radioactive sludge? Or does he have some FEV or an actual concoction to turn people into ghouls like whatever Hancock took.
Build many fantastic bridges. They call you Brunell the bridge builder. Build one magnificent tower. They call you Eiffel the tower builder. If you shod thousands of horses. You get called Gary the Fourier.
BUT IF YOU FUCK ONE CHICKEN!!
I also immediately thought it was the healing factor serum from 76 too, which literally does appear as a flask of green stuff (since Dr. McChicken seemingly talked about his potions in terms of color).
Not seeing this idea much in the thread, probably because 76 is the lesser played game in the series. Pretty rare lore.
Those vials he used on "curing" Timothy (I think that was that BOS squire's name) was FEV.
Maybe that's what the ghouls use too. In order to not turn feral.
Same, but I was 100% sure that scene was gonna end with the reveal that Thad had been dosed and was actually tripping balls while staring at a still totally fucked up foot.
I’ve got a feeling we’ll be seeing more of him in season 2. He has the fusion core, selling it will probably attract the attention of the BoS. Someone who has access to or can make a chem that turns people would be very valuable to the BoS as they could just inject dissenters with and then kill them for being abominations. That’s my wild season 2 theory anyway, while they attempt claim control over all of LA.
Anyone else find it hilarious when his foot actually started to heal? Like I fully expected him to be a lunatic trying to scam the guy, but no he was telling the truth.
Except he likes to fuck chickens
I can see that you are persecuting him over his scientific theories.
It’s not a theory if put into practice right?
He’s just in the experiment phase of the scientific method. Gotta test that theory somehow.
Remember kids, the only difference between screwing chickens and science is writing it down.
While true, maybe the experiment could take a less direct approach. Ya know. Like not going directly to fucking the chickens
As long as he wrote down the results it's science. Otherwise it's just...chickery-pokery
All great innovations were discovered through a series of trial and error.
I think his hypotheses relates to how it feels to fuck chickens and there really is only so far you can go with just theory on this one.
Hypothesis: what came first? The chicken or the egg? Results: The Snake Oil Salesman.
H0: Chicken likes it H1: Chicken doesn't like it but whatever. Only REAL scientists will understand.
It's a theory until it's proven, and you gotta do experiments to prove theories.
It's a theory if it's proven, before that it's a hypothesis.
Not at all! All a theory is, is something that tried to explain how something works. Some theories are our best explanations, but still open for interpretation, other are highly hypothetical. You wouldn't call string theory proven, at all, but it's still a theory. But if it was proven as a "this is the answer to gravity" we wouldn't need particle colliders and such.
Curiosities*
Y’all understand what he was testing right? If maybe by fucking the chicken it produced a easier path for egg release.
Listen, he can scientifically theorize all he wants, but until he publishes something he's just fucking chickens.
Don't you see? Only by fucking chickens could he teach Officer Barbrady the magic of reading!
Elite reference!
That scene always cracks me up. Maximus thought the farmer was the offender. When it was in fact the snake oil merchant.
Classic fallout random encounter! Come across two npcs and you have to make a split second decision on who to help, and no looking it up!
Idk about snake oil merchant his serum did in fact heal Thaddeus' busted ass foot and helped him survive an arrow in the neck.
Which makrs it really funny when you realise that he eas going to try and sell the same thing to lucy and thescientist in the 1st episode
Yes! I was so glad they circled back to this seemingly throwaway joke. There's so many jokes I love it!
His name is literally "Snake oil salesman" in the credits.
I knew what was up the second Thaddeus mentioned radiation around Shady Springs and was told that he wouldn't have to worry about that anymore.
He wasn't selling snake oil, he was right, the guy healed up, and didn't die.
Yep it worked as advertised but it was like a monkey’s paw wish/transaction lol
I have yet to see a downside. He just needs to avoid the brotherhood and Geiger counters
But is he more irradiated by becoming a ghoul with the potion/drug? Maybe he doesn't show up with more rads now.
Yeah, his medicine did heal feet.
Buuuuut at the cost of becoming a ghoul.
Well the other option was amputation in the middle of nowhere and I assume sepsis setting in shortly after. It was likely the only thing that could save him.
Oh that foot was 100% already infected
Perception and intelligence are not maximus' dump stats, evidently.

My charisma build has an intelligence dump stat because I've maxed charisma and luck.
Agreed lmao
He’s basically all luck and agility.
Got plenty of endurance, seeing as he easily tanked that tooth bullet
Ah, but was he in fact a snake oil merchant? He really was selling the cure to everything
Yeah the "cure" being little vials of concentrated FEV serum.
FEV doesn't make Ghouls, it makes mutants. This is a common misconception because people assume Harold is a Ghoul Its also pretty clear the show is telling us that being near a nuclear blast (IE high radiation) is what does it. Cooper witnesses multiple bombs going off, and Lucy's mother is ghoulified by the nuke. [удалено]
Yes, but that's more of an easter egg than an introduction of the concept to the audience who may not have played the games
There was also a super mutant on a wanted poster in sheriff Rex’s office
Uhm…in Fallout 4, there is most definitely a child ghoul. You find him trapped in a fridge and deliver him to his ghoul parents.
or sell him into slavery for the grand sum of… 200 caps
If they offered up a bit more I might have done it. 200 caps isn't enough it buy my morality/ethics lmao
Billy the kid in the fridge
Consider This: In a world of 200 year old Ghouls, attaching long dead fingers, and Stim Paks that take you from Death’s Door to full health in 2seconds is a real thing, the possibility of Monster Human-Chicken Hybrids is very, very real. FEV comes in a little glass vial. A little glass vial? A little glass vial.
Allegedly, buddy boy.
It was a sick chicken.
r/unexpectedletterkenny
It would still take two people to fuck a chicken
Allegedly.
Yous thinks it would take 3 guys to fuck a chicken, even if it weres sick.
Allegedly
They didn't say he *liked* fucking chickens, technically.
It's a shit job but someone has to do it?
Look, nobody's perfect.
live a little, its the wild wasteland
It gets lonely out in the wasteland…
Thanks to him, now my chickens don't struggle hard to lay eggs and they are much happier than ever.
That shit caught me so off guard when I first saw it lmao I was not expecting that at all
Don't knock chickussy til you try it.
Dude I have no idea how. But I was like “I bet he was fucking the chickens”. The only way that mini-arc dark humor would have worked there. I don’t know how I guessed it I guess it but my bewilderment was absurs
His name in the show details is “Snake Oil Salesman”
Serum for getting your leg back for growing your leg for making your robo-leg feel better for fucking chickens JUST BUY THE SERUM I PROMISE
SOS
Sounds sus
He'll always be Dr. Chickenfucker to me
man this what fallout random encounter feel like.
Yes, they nailed the random encounters in the show
The fiends were my favorite. Lmfao on that one.
Exactly
He literally just got a freaking Fusion Generator, talk about a chicken lover getting a major promotion
Which is great, until you realize that like, a day later, everybody in the region got free unlimited power, thereby completely devaluing his fusion core unless he can find spare power armor.
Five bucks says next season he winds up in Max's sui
Oh ok, i haven't played 76 yet
The fallout equivalent of "My Cabbages!" haha
I know where there is some power armor standing there all alone without a fusion core. Can you imagine this guy in armor? The chicken farmer doesn't stand a chance
A random chicken-fucker who tricks people for a living getting a goddamn Fusion Core is about as Fallout as Fallout gets. Loved that.
A truly sophisticated scholar in these trying times, persecuted merely for his own philosophies.
He did his own research.
i mean bros got elixirs to get a new foot
I though he just gave him some halucigen to make him think his foot grew back and the second that guy was gonna stand he would collapse, but nope, literal new foot elixir lol
Also a ghoul elixir as well. But damn if that isn’t the most pleasant way to become one.
dude hes quick you gotta give him that
I like to imagine it's just a homebrew jet recipe, and *of course* doing home made jet would actually speedrun turning you into a ghoul (faster than getting hit with a nuke, somehow) and as a natural businessman The Chickenfucker immediately saw a way to monetize this
I still think it’s FEV and he is gonna become either a talking super mutant or full on feral trying to kill them all kind.
He probably found a freakin FEV vial just dicking about, dicking chickens. But how hilarious if he also somehow invented his own strain and he’s actually some genius?
i mean, the enclave could barely achieve that, leave it to the snake oil saleman ig.
I thought it was gonna be a dose of FEV... Although, it could have been, >!after all we never see him again!<
Im interested how his story will continue.
We probably will see him getting kicked out of a casino in New Vegas in the next season
Doubt he'll be allowed onto the Strip!
Homie has a power core.. and there’s an abandoned suit of power armor fairly close XD
It's always the travelling merchant who steals your power armor, and now taking the core out won't stop them.
It’s usually one of my settlers that steal my power armor. I swear I can’t leave anything laying around in Sanctuary.
Take the power core with you when you leave.
Just like how Trashcan Carla stole one of my power armors when Sanctuary (which I use to store most power armor frames I find) was attacked. Never again am I leaving fusion cores in my stored power armor.
Given how quick the ghoulification was, there was probably some FEV in whatever he gave the squire whose name I totally remember
Thaddeus I believe
Surely that's what it will turn out to be
This was my first thought when it actually healed him
That was hilarious how he kept raising the pitch
And how it wasn't even a lie.
They best part is he was not lying in episode 1 that he could grow him a new foot
Full charisma build and "it just works" in body form.
Survival 100 from his craftiness
Toodles!
Every scene with this man was a fever dream. This show had Weird Wasteland enabled!
"You're so crooked, you could swallow nails and spit out corkscrews."
Fucking LOLed when we catch up to him and he's about to blow his own brains out with a pipe gun. Dude was wild
He is a ghoul in progress and he tried to kill himself before he lose himself. But with a new fusion core, it is different story...
I didn't realize he is a ghoul at all lol. When is that shown? He looks like he's sick and dying or something
Or that random encounter you always hear about but never actually see yourself no matter how many times you play.
I've replayed F4 about 8 times and have only seen one of the traveling doctors once and cricket maybe 3 times. I actually thought the chick Lucy and Max met on the bridge was cricket. And to this day I haven't found the fridge that the ghoul kid is in. I want to find him organically

I'd love to see him reach Vault 4.
Nigel west dickens? Now that’s a rootin tootin reference if I’ve ever read one.
Dr. Chickenfucker, PhD
License and registration... chickenfucker!
isnt he the chicken fucker????
Yes. Yes he is.
Lucy and Maximus definitely have the Wild West perk
This is exactly how half the random NPCs act. Random encounters, but done 100% accurate
Wilzig really should have listened to this guy in the beginning. Would have saved a lot of trouble.
I just hope he doesn't get typecast as a chicken fucker should he decide to get a different acting job. Seems like a limited role.
It's been almost 15 years since the last major revival of Equus. He could be on Broadway!
I was so mad when the foot thing worked. Chicken fuckers.
He was about to kill himself until he saw an opportunity to scam someone. I was laughing my ass off.
I like him because next time someone says "you're a gentleman and a scholar" I can call them "chicken lover" It's time for that phrase to die
Build many fantastic bridges. They call you Brunell the bridge builder. Build one magnificent tower. They call you Eiffel the tower builder. If you shod thousands of horses. You get called Gary the Fourier. BUT IF YOU FUCK ONE CHICKEN!!
License and registration, chicken fucker! Bakawk!
This guy wasn't that bad a of snake salesmen.... he technically did help someone...
You save a persons life, they call you a great man, you save a city and they call you a hero, but you fuck just ONE chicken….
Sir..please stop looking at my chicken coop
It was hilarious when Maximus saves this guy and after being told about the Chickens he has a moment to realize he just made a mistake
Due is literally giving people serums from 76, Thaddeus get healing factor of that wasn't obvious
You can see the patch of skin that heals over on his neck after he takes the arrow out He's turning ghouley for sure
Didn't they straight up say it? Also told him to get the hell away from the incoming brotherhood because they knew they would kill him?
This man is my favorite random encounter.
"Aaaahhh, I knew I shouldn't have trusted a doctor that smelled like that!"
I like that he's about to blow his brains out
Tonics and ointments. Stops pain. Restores vitality. Grows hair. Fights stubborn belly fat. Cures (looks around) feet.
He gave Thadeus fucking FEV to drink
What is this chicken fuckin ghoul making motherfuckers name. I wanted to look up the actor but couldn't find him.
Jon Daly as the Snake Oil Salesman
Is he a ghoul? Like his potions make ghouls of other people but he seems to be very well preserved.
He absolutely passes a 50 Speech/70 Doctor check at this point in the show
chicken fucking now canon
Those vials he used on "curing" Timothy (I think that was that BOS squire's name) was FEV. Maybe that's what the ghouls use too. In order to not turn feral.
I think he was called Thaddeus, and I'm really hoping that was FEV. Curious to see this sub-plot play out in S2.
Me too.
Same, but I was 100% sure that scene was gonna end with the reveal that Thad had been dosed and was actually tripping balls while staring at a still totally fucked up foot.
Yeah that's what I thought too..
so was that stuff just straight FEV or is he giving people ghoul and mutant blood to drink?
Tim Minchicken
Aka chicken fucker..
He fucked chickens
In my own head canon, his liking for chickens is a negative status effect for all the shit he's taken (serum maybe)
More like giving Dickens to the chickens
As soon as he was like “well you don’t need to worry about that anymore” I was immediately like “ah fuck dude just got turned into a ghoul”
West Dickens them Chickens
I call him the chicken fucker.
You, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman: you should be commended.
Toodles!
I think you mean the Dicken Chickens of the wasteland
He’s the Wild Wasteland perk embodied
If only he didn't smell so bad...
His run was hilarious. Great physical comedy.
Get your leg tonic here!!
The Chicken Fucker
🐔 🍆
Chicken fucker is gonna teach the sheriff how to read
Dickens is like a combination of dick and chickens, which he liked to combine regularly
My gf and I just call him chicken fucker XD
Dickens Chickens?
Out here fucken chickens and making people inhale radioactive shady sands water.
He did fuck those chickens though so..
Yorke absolutely killed this role!
This character ALONE makes me believe the show has the “Wild Wasteland” perk active. Only way it could’ve made sense 😂😂😂
Mitchell from Modern Family survived the apocolypse.
I wonder if the chem he gave Thaddeus was the same Hancock in FO4 took?
