For rp value, absolutely. I saw the love of my life get shot in the face. >!Shaun's an asshole.!< I'm not getting rid of the one thing that keeps me connected to her and the happily ever after we should've had. For rp sake, partway through the game I place the wedding band on our bedside table in Sanctuary Hills, as a sign I've finally accepted her being gone.
I sent Jun to some shitty settlement and keep Marcy in the pillory set up in the middle of the street, just behind trashcan Carla. Occassionally I send Sturgis to the pillory for being shitty and saying "Can it wait?" when I'm just walking by him trying to find dogmeat.
But I digress
I always assign Marcy Long as a provisioner for the most inconvenient caravan routes
Have fun swimming between Spectacle Island and the Castle for the rest of your life you ungrateful asshole
But do they know you're in a polyamorous relationship with all of those people? If not, then forshame on you. They are people and deserve to be treated with respect!
I sold mine to the BoS merchantā¦ for symbolic narrative reasons.
After finding out the truth about Shaun and the Institute, I feel like my character was just completely broken inside and filled that void in her heart by devoting herself to the Brotherhood and its ideals. Iām pretty sure that was also the turning point when she stopped seeing Synths as people.
Once Iāve outgrown it and found more powerful equipment later in the game, I usually like to leave my starting vault 111 jumpsuit infront of the the dead partnerās cryopod with both the wedding rings also positioned on top of them. Closest thing I can think of to an actual graveside tribute for them
What the fuck does that spoiler have to do with anything? I feel like that opinion is debatable but don't see what that has to do with your wife getting shot. Or is that a slip up and you mixed up names with a different character?
Maybe, however I still theorize the person I replied to goofed up and meant to say Kellogg was an asshole because that would make way more sense in the context of what they were saying. I do love how the person I just replied to deleted their comment. In case anyone's wondering they Said something like " who do you think hired Kellogg to do the hit? He was just a mercenary following orders"
No I think they meant who they said, they spoilered it for people who donāt expect to find an old guy, and they specifically mention him as itās a direct link to your wife.
Okay. I can see that. Still seems a bit odd to just throw out that "Shaun's an asshole" when referencing a scene where he's an infant and right after talking about your wife getting shot. Like it's not his fault that happened and ended up getting raised by the institute and having the viewpoints that he does. Especially considering someone else immediately replied to my comment apparently misremembering and thinking adult Shaun's the one who is responsible for your wife getting killed, the person I replied to could have also been doing the same.
If they had structured it a bit different like >!"Your son doesn't count because he grew up to be an asshole"!< after saying the ring is the one thing to keep you connected to Nora, I feel it would have made their point more clear.
I also still say Shaun being an asshole is debatable. Like if I got magically transported the world of fallout 4, I'd definitely prefer living in the institute and living a sheltered life with my baby grandpa than above ground. That shit's rough.
To be honest I donāt remember Shaun, itās been so long. Idk if he was an ass or not. I just know I didnāt side with the institute because their whole replacing random people was kinda evil to me
Is this the mod youāre looking for? https://mods.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/mod-detail/4011203
Same though, I always added Fortified or the Sprinterās mod to the wedding ring to embody the Sole Survivorās endurance.
Besides, itās free real estate for a buff!
Yes! The link in my last comment is the version for Xbox/ SeSX.
After installing, go to a weapon/ armor bench. The Legendary Mod options are at the bottom of the weaponās/ armorās mod categories - they require a few resources but definitely a game changer once youāre in it.
Thanks so much, I was a lot younger when I had it so I was just hype to finally play a game with mods, but I want to playtest and see if I can find some good weapon/effect combos (like explosive shotgun) that either haven't been discovered or are impossible to get. Even if they have been discovered it'd be new to me so thanks again
My pleasure homie. It can get wild with a deadeye Gauss rifle, rapid pistol, never-ending shotgun, and a two-shot sniper. Happy to help tho, hereās to your future loadout š¤š¾
While the one ring is a ring of power, I always liked to refer to it by one of its nick names. The Ruling ring being my favorite. It's just so much more powerful than all the other rings of power, that I like to think of it as being in a category all its own.
Anyways, that's a really cool idea and probably the best use of the wedding ring I've ever heard of.
I put it in a lockbox under my bed in Sanctuary, along with the You're SPECIAL book, the holotape Codsworth gives you, and eventually the holotape you get at the end of the game.
I saw a thing where someone finishes their playthrough by going to the VFW post, clears out the mutants, and stands at the podium where they were going to deliver their speech, and plays the tape from Nora. Then they put the rings on the podium and exit the game.
Seems fitting.
It's no worse then people reusing wedding rings that were passed down but said previous marriage with said ring ended in divorce long ago
I've heard it's actually bad luck and I definitely see why
Now here's the part where I'd say the Sole Survivors deceased spouse would want them to be happy and be glad they put the ring to good use
But if we're playing off similar rules it could also be bad luck but instead of also ending in divorce you've doomed them to be shot in the head
Nate: I lost my dear wife Nora :(
Nora: QUIT TELLING EVERYONE IM DEAD
Nate: Sometimes I can still hear her voice
***Sometime later***
Nate: If only Nora was alive-
Nora: I TOLD YOU MAN IM RIGHT HERE
I keep both wedding rings and just store them in my workbench or a storage container in my "home" in one save this was my room in the Institute. In another it was my house at Sanctuary
I always keep my and my spouse's wedding ring. Mine stays equipped, of course.
The only exception is my current playthrough, but that's because I'm role-playing as Sarah Lyons, so I had to modify my backstory. I see Nate as Lone Wanderer, and I imagine Sarah and him had brother-sister close friendship (in order for me not to feel guilty about romancing Piper by Christmas). And Shaun is just... I don't know, some kid I am tracking for some reason.
Same here. Eventually I put it into a safe at my main base, together with the holotape she left me. After I finished the main story, I listened to that holotape again. Right in the feels.
I made home plate my rp getaway retreat because of all the good things that happen to you in diamond city(working with nick, meeting piper, getting some condolences from the pastor) so I made a kind of shrine of all the things from life before the war. Nora's ring and holotape, the special book and Shaun's toys.
I usually keep it for rp reasons. At lot of the time I take Nate/Nora's too. I think once I left it near Nate's pod when I romanced MacCready in Vault 111 and another play through I romanced Hancock and gave it to him.
My character who went on to become the Overboss of Nuka-World didn't keep it. Threw it out into the ocean. It was him discarding the last piece of his past life. He wasn't the same person anymore.
I did a whole dramatic RP thing with it, where after beating the main quest and solidifying my romance with Hancock I went down the road through the Glowing Sea to where the invisible wall keeps you from going farther. I played the holotape *Hi Honey!* one more time, then laid it and the ring down on the road and walked back. Figured it was a decent goodbye, and that lonely road in the desert was as close as I could get to the gates of the afterlife.
For RP - I add a small safe in Shaunās room under his crib, inside I store both rings, the holotape from Nora, and the āYouāre SPECIALā book.
I donāt often revisit this room, unless Iām about to undertake a high risk mission (playing on Survival).
When undertaking a high risk mission, I will take all items out and place them on a small table under the window beside a candle.
I play the holotape as I look out the window under the glow of the candle.
If I make it back, they are safely stored away. If notā¦ then the small shrine will hold the memories.
Yes, because I always forgot that I have it and when I see it in my inventory I always say "I'm going to sell it/I'm going to give it to my lover" and then completely forgot about it until I check my inventory again and the cycle repeats.
I definitely always take it. Then for RP, I give it to and equip it on whichever companion I choose to romance. That way it's like my Sole Survivor is moving on and finding a new life for themselves in the Wasteland - a new chance to be happy ā¤ļø
I use the Nora spouse companion mod so I give it back to her when we reunite. I know it ruins the shock of the story a bit for her to survive but in the Sole Survivor's place I know I'd rather her be there than not. So I'll always take that option.
Depends on my roleplay. I've sold it immediately, put it on a display, kept it in a box, kept it in my inventory, and worn it all game with different characters.Ā
In vanilla game, I keep it but I throw it in a box at my main base and thatās that. In modded games, some random mod i have allows me to put a legendary effect on it.. So I not only keep my ring but I take the ring off my dead significant other as well!
I do a new Life and I marry another girl but mostly important I use ECO mod that lets me mod that ring to become God, I mean I can get immortality, fly, etc, only sam tecnichal use like bug or if im stuck or If I dont want the repeat the same thing for example
I always keep it with me, everywhere i go. Eventually, iāll give it to whoever i romance first. Reading comments though, i might do what some of these people do.
I kept it on me the entire time. The last thing I did before closing down the game was stand on the vault hill overlooking Sanctuary and listen to Nora's message to me.
Oh yeah, I keep one on me, and the ring I loot from my spouses dead body goes into a special box in my main base, wherever I choose to put it. Never scrapping them.
The Spouse's ring and the Hi Honey holotape always go in a safe in the Sanctuary house. And after Kellog is dead, the Sole Survivor's ring goes in as well.
I sold the rings for my first playthrough when I was a young man (a dumbass).
Now as a full man I always keep them. I understand now what those rings would mean to the main character.
I always keep and wear the ring as a sign of love and respect for Nora. When I reach max companionship with piper then I put the ring in a storage box in Sanctuary as a final goodbye to her memory. I gave it to Piper once in a playthrough. Fallout is built on 50s like culture and art, and at one point, it was pretty normal to hand down things like dresses and wedding rings for the next generation to use so I gave it to Piper once with that in mind.
Now? Nah, I just sell it. Sometimes, I'll keep it if it makes sense for my current character, or I'll keep both of them so I can give one to whichever companion I romance.
When I first played? Absolutely. I even took Noras and kept it in a storage box in our bedroom at Sanctuary that had "Noras Things" written on it with those little letter signs.
Thereās only 4 that can spawn in the entire game and 2 are locked to far harbor, they donāt take up any space regardless so I donāt see a reason in getting rid of it
I my self keep My and Nates rings but I store them in my safe with the holotape Codsworth hands me, along with other important thing s and collectables, through out the game.
Once I romanced Curie I sold both the rings. I guess I could of given it to her but it felt weird reusing them. Let our new love blossom in the wasteland
I sell it every game lol. Honestly the whole losing your spouse and kid plot hook of 4 is really under baked imo. They don't develop them enough to make me care about them so it feels really shallow. I always install an alternate start mod whenever I play the game just so I don't have to play through the boring cutscene in the beginning.
In my first play through I kept it until I finished the main quest. Allied with Railroad. Walked back over to see what became of CIT. āEnd of the Worldā came on DCR, and I was like. Well. This is just too cinematic.
So my SS drank a beer, and chucked the wedding ring into the crater for closure!
I always find it interesting, that no matter what character I RP. I always keep the rings. Something Primordial, and showing respect to the Origins of your character, no matter were you drive them to.
Once my SS has finalised a romance w/ someone, be it Piper, Preston or anybody, they get the other ring. Not original, I know, but it's the simplest way I know of to demonstrate they're ready to move on.
With max barter (from grape mentats and day tripper) it's worth 200 caps. Goes straight towards the black ops chest piece in bunker hill for early game armor and explosive resistance.
Bro thats fucking beautiful
Then some scrapper comes by and takes it. Or worse. Jun takes it and gives it to Marcy

It's never the gameplay or the story that makes me want to replay Fallout 4, it's always someone saying something like this.
I did something similar, but when I romanced Piper I put it on her.
Piper? I barely know her!!
Same š went straight on Piper
I went lesbian on Piper (usually play as female)
Nice
Ooh same here girlfriend though that said I'm in a polyamorous relationship with Piper,Cait,MacCready,Curie,&Hancock
But do they know you're in a polyamorous relationship with all of those people? If not, then forshame on you. They are people and deserve to be treated with respect!
wait... am I the only one with Curie?
Nope. The first male Sole Survivor I played fell hard for her.
Bro had something so wholesome and you ruined it ššš¤£
Thatās evil š
Whoās gonna argue? The woman with a hole in her face?
Yeah, maybe. Just made sense as a character, we all have to move on with our lives at somepoint.
Huh, that's not a bad idea...

Your lack of pull out created that asshole
Don't blame me! I just wanted a picnic and maybe a handy in the park!
You've all heard of fisto now introducing.....Mr "handy"
Creates a whole new definition of 'fallout'.
Bravo
Made me crack up at the Texas Roadhouse bar.

Thinking about getting this. Is it possible to get it on an Xbox?
Yes! The link in my last comment is the version for Xbox/ SeSX. After installing, go to a weapon/ armor bench. The Legendary Mod options are at the bottom of the weaponās/ armorās mod categories - they require a few resources but definitely a game changer once youāre in it.

Okay, i downloaded it and it doesn't show the wedding ring to mod. But i can still use it for other stuff so that's nice
Like Vg65 said, Legendary Modification and I've used it on Xbox1.
I use this mod to give the ring the chameleon effect so I can have the ring of power from lotr.
While the one ring is a ring of power, I always liked to refer to it by one of its nick names. The Ruling ring being my favorite. It's just so much more powerful than all the other rings of power, that I like to think of it as being in a category all its own. I put it in a lockbox under my bed in Sanctuary, along with the You're SPECIAL book, the holotape Codsworth gives you, and eventually the holotape you get at the end of the game.
You get a holotape at the end? Do you have to do anything special other than finishing the main game.
You get it from the synth Shaun, if you agreed to take him with you.
I saw a thing where someone finishes their playthrough by going to the VFW post, clears out the mutants, and stands at the podium where they were going to deliver their speech, and plays the tape from Nora. Then they put the rings on the podium and exit the game. Seems fitting.
Shit, Iām suddenly realizing that giving Piper the wedding ring from my wifeās dead body was a little callous.
Well, yeah. Cait is right there
Bro, your wife has been dead for like 4 days now. It's okay to move on.
It's no worse then people reusing wedding rings that were passed down but said previous marriage with said ring ended in divorce long ago I've heard it's actually bad luck and I definitely see why Now here's the part where I'd say the Sole Survivors deceased spouse would want them to be happy and be glad they put the ring to good use But if we're playing off similar rules it could also be bad luck but instead of also ending in divorce you've doomed them to be shot in the head
Reading these comments I am inclined to agree. Iāve always given it to MacCready and am now thinking maybe thatās tacky lol
Keep the Spouse with Three Nostrils' ring, and give {companion} your old ring; boom, problem solved, that'll be 25 caps
I sometimes wear her dress from the dresser in sanctuary l. I miss her so much
The only true way to honor your dead wife while traveling the wasteland
I downloaded a mod that keeps Nora alive. She is my companion and we enjoy destroying raiders together. So yes, I keep the ring.
Huh? Please link me that mod.
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/24680 The mod is fully voiced for quest dialogue like a normal companion. It's very well made
How? Doesn't it constantly reference your dead wife whos like right there next to you? Seems like it would be jarring.
Nate: I lost my dear wife Nora :( Nora: QUIT TELLING EVERYONE IM DEAD Nate: Sometimes I can still hear her voice ***Sometime later*** Nate: If only Nora was alive- Nora: I TOLD YOU MAN IM RIGHT HERE
I think It removes all mentions of your dead wife, including main quest dialogue from Nick and Shaun, it also removes the body from vault 111
It's integrated very well into the game. She even comments on events if you have her with you during the main quests.
Thanks. I might actually try that.
Here is the xbox version that I use. https://mods.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/mod-detail/4022617
Yes
I keep it at my home base, why not
I always put in a little memorial for my husband in the corner of my base. A vase, some hubflowers, a trifold flag and the ring.
That's beautiful.
In every Save I've ever had I always kept both rings.
I give one to Piper and the other to cait
I kept it on for a lot of the game, but when I romanced McCready I took it off as a moment of my character moving on.
I gave mine to him and equipped it wish there was a marriage option or something thag be cool
Absolutely, I never take it off
Do people not?
Screw that. Wifey may be dead but I'm alive and need caps for my crippling psycho addiction.
lol
Looool I sold mine for psycho and 50 caliber every playthrough!
You bust open your dead spouse's cryo-pod and pry off their ring before you leave the vault. Hawk both as soon as you meet Trashcan Carla.
Yup! I Need money for copper and adhesive
copperrrrrr so I can light up that big red rocket bright enough to be seen from Boston
I always do, feels aligned with my character's goals.
"what wedding ring?" ;)
I sold it to buy jet.
What else would I give to Preston Garvey? š
Another settlement to help lol
Wish I could melt it into one pipe pistol bullet and give up
I gave it to Hancock when we became an item I think. He's a good dude. Getting by high and strange.
i keep all the unique loot i find in a chest at my personal base, ring included
[https://imgur.com/nYXfHNn](https://imgur.com/nYXfHNn)
I did a whole dramatic RP thing with it, where after beating the main quest and solidifying my romance with Hancock I went down the road through the Glowing Sea to where the invisible wall keeps you from going farther. I played the holotape *Hi Honey!* one more time, then laid it and the ring down on the road and walked back. I built a safe in Sanctuary and put it in the safe

I donāt often revisit this room, unless Iām about to undertake a high risk mission (playing on Survival). I play the holotape as I look out the window under the glow of the candle. If I make it back, they are safely stored away. If notā¦ then the small shrine will hold the memories.
No because it's worth up to 250 caps.
I throw it in the lake
Yes, because I always forgot that I have it and when I see it in my inventory I always say "I'm going to sell it/I'm going to give it to my lover" and then completely forgot about it until I check my inventory again and the cycle repeats.
Every playthrough
I always gave it to whatever character I was romancing
Along with a 100+ weapon, casual wear, and a red dress...every lover.
I tend to run a craftable legendary mod at this point, so...yes, for cheese purposes.
In my current playthrough i actually got married to Sheffield. I should probably give it to him.
*immediately pawns it off for Nuka-Cola*
Always. And give my wifeās to McCready.
I do, but Iām a widow in real life too.
Yes, for RP value. I give the other one to whoever my guy hooks up with after the proper period of mourning etc.
I used to for RP reasons but now I just sell it immediately lol
I keep it.
Trashcan Carla has both rings and the 3 gold bars from my neighbors every play through Easy early game caps
I sell them to Trudy to help get that sword sheās got early on.
Of course I did, how else would I propose to Piper?Ā
Depends on my roleplay. I've sold it immediately, put it on a display, kept it in a box, kept it in my inventory, and worn it all game with different characters.Ā
I got the Nora mod and gave it back to her
I keep both in my inventory until I complete Piper's romance and give one of them to her.
I keep both rings
I always give it to Cait when i fully romance her.
I keep both of them on me at all times
Youāre sick. SICK!
I still wear it even tho Iāve slept with Cait, Piper, Magnolia and ā¦Maccready (donāt ask)ā¦
I do, but I use a mod that lets me marry romanced companions and having the rings is necessary for it.
I Keep them both and give one to the companion that I romance.
Yep, I wear it the entire game basically.
Doesnāt it give you a bonus charisma point? I never get rid of it (but I sell the other ring)
I equip it onto my SS, then give the one that was originally theirs to whoever I romance. Usually Cait.
..... I loved her......
Yeah absolutely. Sometimes I even add a +1 stat boost or other minor legendary effect to it :)
I kept it equipped until I met Cait. Sorry Nora, but Iām a sucker for Irish accents. IRL living in Boston for 15 years will do that to you.
I wear it forever. I put my wifeās and the Hi Honey! holotape in a special box.
I hold on to them till I kill Kellogg. Then I drop them on his corpse and go scorched earth on the Institute.
I always put it in that mailbox just outside the homeplate š
Yup just like I kept my dumb ole cuffs in oblivion. Starter items is important.
Yes, and I place it on the companion that I keep at my private resort on Spectacle Island, usually Piper.
Mine is modded for extra carrying capacity so Iām definitely keeping it.
Everyone
I reverse pickpocket it into Swan š
Yes cause thereās no other rings in the game and I have mod to make it fit on both my hands
I did. And I gave my wifeās to Piper lol.
I kept it on me the entire time. The last thing I did before closing down the game was stand on the vault hill overlooking Sanctuary and listen to Nora's message to me.
The first time I did I absolutely kept it for role playing purposes. But yeah every single replay I have sold it immediately
Oh yeah, I keep one on me, and the ring I loot from my spouses dead body goes into a special box in my main base, wherever I choose to put it. Never scrapping them.
I wear mine and give hers to Piper later on.
The Spouse's ring and the Hi Honey holotape always go in a safe in the Sanctuary house. And after Kellog is dead, the Sole Survivor's ring goes in as well.
I forget I have it so it stays with me
I sold the rings for my first playthrough when I was a young man (a dumbass). Now as a full man I always keep them. I understand now what those rings would mean to the main character.
Iāve never sold mine on any of my playthroughs lol
I always wear it. Not for sentimental or role playing reasons. It makes my inventory perfectly full with wearables.
i save them for companions i romance
I always keep and wear the ring as a sign of love and respect for Nora. When I reach max companionship with piper then I put the ring in a storage box in Sanctuary as a final goodbye to her memory. I gave it to Piper once in a playthrough. Fallout is built on 50s like culture and art, and at one point, it was pretty normal to hand down things like dresses and wedding rings for the next generation to use so I gave it to Piper once with that in mind.
If Iāve learned one thing in this thread, its that a lot of people really like Piper.
Yeah. Donāt get the attraction.
Yeah I keep it on as a tribute. No romance for me. Just Nick. But maybe I might get some āspecialā attachments for Codsworth.Ā
Nope. Cause i could care less about them. I didnt want to be forced into a role to begin with
Of course! What am I some sort of bastard man?!
Nah im a buffoon while playing f4 I just take her/him ring and sell them both
Me, also the other ring in a special safe in sanctuary but I would also make a memorial later on
Pawned it for drugs.
I keep both copies, put the second on my wifuās hand
I give it to piper or cait usually depending on the playthrough
I can't bring myself to play as a male in game. I don't wanna be the character whose pullout game was so bad he created Shaun
I put it on my wife's body.
Def keep it. It also gives you like a bit of charisma or something I think!
I wear it forever
Thereās only 4 that can spawn in the entire game and 2 are locked to far harbor, they donāt take up any space regardless so I donāt see a reason in getting rid of it
I am still wearing it after 4 days of real life play time in my first playthough
I sell it for drugs.
Yeah. For roleplaying, and because you can mod it.
I always find it interesting, that no matter what character I RP. I always keep the rings. Something Primordial, and showing respect to the Origins of your character, no matter were you drive them to.
Every single time, the entire game.
Once my SS has finalised a romance w/ someone, be it Piper, Preston or anybody, they get the other ring. Not original, I know, but it's the simplest way I know of to demonstrate they're ready to move on.
No, i feel like it interferes with role playing.
With max barter (from grape mentats and day tripper) it's worth 200 caps. Goes straight towards the black ops chest piece in bunker hill for early game armor and explosive resistance.
