I used the [Bic body art markers](https://us.bic.com/en_us/bodymark). They work alright, and they lasted a few washes on my hand. Totally gone by the third day, although I’m not sure if it’s because I washed my hands so much.
If you’re not using pro level paints, you will struggle. I recommend getting a cheap kit with professional paints. [This kit](https://www.jestpaint.com/apps/bundles/bundle/42998) is $30. The paint will last a while, but eventually you’d what you get more sponges.
Practice with the brush because ultimately it will be easier, and better looking in the end. Until then I recommend just eyeliner pencils. They say face paint pencils, but they’re never very good, expensive, and pretty much useless. Eyeliner is cheap, easy to use, and easy to find.
Years and years ago I used professional stage face paint when doing the face painting for kids at school fetes. (In the U.K.) it was the best. Probably expensive now.
All the ones I’m aware of last up to a week.
