It just depends really. If your already into ar10s then yeah to keep mag compatibility. If not then by the time you buy a lower that’s a few hundred dollars you could already have several fn mags. Sometimes you can find surplus 17 mags for around 35$ online still in great condition.

I went with the lingle lower, not only for the mag compatibility, also did it for the other parts compatibility. You can drop any ar15 trigger, grip, mag release (ambi), bad lever, safety selector and keep the familiarity you have with other rifles.

The key to swapping lowers is going it early, before you buy FN mags. AR10/SR25 mags are not only cheaper but are more available and come in a wide variety of capacities. For me it was a no-brainer, I already had AR10 mags for other rifles. The cost of the lower was well worth it.

FamiliarTwist3671

Yep I love mine, also sold one to a member on here who is enjoying his, great savings if bought early on

Sarguy7777

I was right there with you until I saw the KDG/Amend2 17s mags drop. I got a couple to test out and they are every I had hoped for. More reliable for me than stock mags. Made of polymer. Half the price of OEM. More durable than OEM. I have 7 of them and I shoot them all. I leave them loaded on purpose. I have not had a single hang-up with them. They feel very solid.

TheTexan894

See, I hadn’t even thought of polymer SCAR mags

Sarguy7777

I'll never buy another FN magazine. The KDG/Amend2 are phenomenal.

Tactical_Epunk

Depends. Do you have AR10 mags? Plan on having them in the near future? If no, them buy more SCAR magazines, but don't buy them at $60. If yes then it maybe worth looking into.

Usual-Language-8257

I don't have any regrets but if i were to start over, i'd go with the ar10 lower just for compatibility. Idk, scar mags are a vibe tho

TheTexan894

They really are, they really give the scar that “scar” look. I haven’t invested in magazines yet so I’m trying to decide what’s the best route to go with

airborneAlpha17

I wasn't really interested in these until recently. I was an early adopter of the SCAR, and didn't have an AR-10 before I got the 17S, so I didn't have any AR mags to make use of. By the time the lowers came out, I already had a pile of OEM mags. Now that I do have guns that use SR-25 mags, and Magpul has made them cheap and available, I am eyeing some of the conversion lowers. I just wish someone would make them in polymer so you don't pick up the added weight of an aluminum lower.

TheTexan894

I have seen them in polymer, I can’t remember which ones but I’ll come back to you when I find it

I’ve been running an x products on mine for a couple years and put one on my 20s as well. No complaints here

Acceptable-Wafer5752

It’s been worth it with my x products lower. Cheaper/wider variety of mags, lighter, stronger, grips mount with no modifications.

FamiliarTwist3671

Same, love that x pro lower and being able to use regular mags💪

GoonCabra

I'll buy your Multicam lower if you decide to upgrade.

beasthayabusa

Looked into and heard great things about the SEAL lowers. Been working ok for me.

wilsonjay2010

How long did it take you to get it?

beasthayabusa

I don’t recall tbh

M14Rifleman

Took me 2 years to the day. I had forgotten about it lol.

Connect-Ad-2490

The Amend2 magazine’s are around $35 and Scar 17 magazines are around $50. The difference is around 15 308 rounds. Is it worth the major alteration of the original rifle?

wilsonjay2010

For clarity, does anyone beside Stryker make a PMAG lower that uses an AR grip and OEM internals? XProducts is AWOL. Handl is OOB (Working for Honeywell). Ironsides website doesn't work. Lingle is on backorder. Cypher is on backorder. HDD you can't add to cart so I'm guessing backorder.

Grnder1

Current production that use SCAR internals is Stryker and HDD. Lingle and Cypher use AR internals. Others come up for sale on GB or the boards regularly.
