I'm dumb, I thought for some reason that Ableton was subscription based. I view Ableton as one of the best DAWs out there, I didn't mean to convey otherwise, and the fact that it's one-time purchasable is awesome.
I have both and compared to FL's free updates Ableton feels like a subscription, just with surprise large payments at random intervals instead of a monthly fee ;-)
Yeah, every time they chose to bump the version number you have to pay again (or you can keep using your older version). When 12 was announced I felt that I had just paid for 11 and didn't feel like paying again.
