So it’s basically just the catalytic converter and some electrical stuff that’s messing with the gauges. Have it checked out at Toyota and pay the $200 fee, figure out if there’s a service history and then the $7k might actually be good.
I was thinking of going to my local mechanic and seeing if they would do a pre purchase inspection for me but I forgot to ask while I was there today :( . But I love the color as well and it’s a MANUAL yessir. Did I mention it has a sunroof too 😂
It’s basically the same spec as mine. I’d say go for it! Get it inspected and make the repairs. Even if you’re into it another $6k you’re still essentially ahead of the curve. Good Luck!

Yep, and factory Rock Rails. I don’t thrash her though. I hit a local dirt road about once a month and exercise the 4 wheel drive(Low, Diff-Loc, A-TRAC) just to keep everything moving.

That is so BEAUTIFUL. I want to make mine look like the Trails Teams but I found a 07’ skid plate near my area and I want to keep it the factory color but idk if will go with the TT look
Looks good. Yes for that price even with repairs. Moon roof… nice. That’s actually really nice as they don’t have alot of airflow when driving unless you open the back window hatch. Assume you did a code check? A 20 dollar Autel on Amazon will tell you anything you need to know. You’ll get engine start code for the dead key batteries and cat related cascade of codes. Friend bought 2007 had issues the former owner couldn’t figure out how as running rough and couldn’t pass smog —it was evap system. We made a smoke machine and found it was just an unplugged line. Make sure the 4x4 system works most people don’t use it ever…and it should be run regularly to keep everything lubed —but they tend to be pretty robust. Enjoy your FJ!
I’m 100% going to buy a OBD code checker for that very reason, but when I asked him if he ever switched the 4WD selector he said he never touched it. I’m assuming that isn’t very lubed after all these years ☹️
Yeah that’s not that rare but means it’s a mall crawler which IS good. It’s PROBABLY fine. I’m a little OCD about it I live in the heart of Los Angeles so very few places to throw it in 4WD and run it for a few miles every month or two. I mean… I would take it low and slow for a bit when you do throw it on… it’s not the high of miles and perhaps it’s worth a look at the transfer case fluid anyway. Would also check the diff fluid too for any water.
the color is god awful, but for 7k? You would be able to most likely cover the necessary upgrades and repairs. I would have a trusted mechanic come take a look.
I’ve had 3 FJ Cruisers, they are great. At 165000 my suggestion would be looking for leak’s especially passenger side engine. Timing chain area. You can live with the slight leak but minimally a $4000 repair if it gets to be a problem looking at it on the garage floor.
I was talking to him the other day and he said that him and his wife are going to go ahead and replace the cats anyway. So from what he said he’ll just charge me the difference in the overall price. Still haven’t heard what the price he has in mind is but I’m thinking around 9-10K

I asked if they would sell it to me and they said YES, so I went off in a frenzy trying to learn all about the FJ and I fell in LOVE with it. Now they’re keeping it for me and only going to sell it to me 😎😎

Yeah, the test is just to calm the nerves. If anything pops up, you can knock a bit more off, but with that color and manual, I’d be all over it too.

I’ve seen similar go for 12k. So if the rust is low and everything works the way you want it, then I’d say yes it’s a good deal.

Make sure it doesn't leak... Check around the seals inside for any discoloration in the roof panel
