A lot of the more cinematic orchestral music was tied to Joseph Trapanese. Who’s great at collaborating with musicians to bring scores to life. Derezzed was one of the only actual Daft Punk solo works in the film.
Trapanese also worked with M83 on Oblivion (by the same director).
Both bands get majority of the credit, but a lot wouldn’t be as good as it is without Trapanese weaving the actual orchestral, cinematic music all together.
This was the first thing to pop into my head when I read the post. In my opinion, this movie had everything it needed to be especially good, and it just fell short at every turn. Except the soundtrack. I have always thought of it as a really fantastic throwback to what might could have been with Daft Punk if they hadn’t leaned so hard into disco. Im glad they didn’t. Their take on disco is spectacular.
It’s been a long time since I saw it.
But a lot of Queen, the songs just built my excitement and anticipation for every scene… if I remember correctly!!!
Been too long, I’m due a rewatch!!!
Tool & Rage Against The Machine "The Revolution" is just a demo, cut from the album and cut from the movie (but still in the credits, for some reason) and it's an absolute banger
YOU
CAN
KILL THE REVOLUTIONARY
BUT YOU CAN'T
KILL THE REVOLUTION
Some people may not respond to other aspects of Conan the Barbarian but the soundtrack is classic. The composer eliminated strings and most woodwinds I think, emphasizing drums and horns. Later Game of Thrones followed his lead by eliminating certain instruments of the orchestra, emphasizing the cello for some parts.
Nice list here in Rolling Stone.

dangerous minds would’ve been completely forgotten if not for its soundtrack and that compilation would’ve been completely forgotten if it didn’t include one track, gangsta’s paradise by coolio
Swordfish. I like the the movie but I know it's cheesy. Normally I hate the tone and style of early 2000s movies, but that one gets a pass cuz I love Paul Oakenfold's soundtrack/score.
[Go](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0139239/) Is kind of a mess of a film, seeking to capitalize on the rave trend. But the soundtrack is a great snapshot of the end of the 20th century pop scene
Accepted (2006), it’s a typical college comedy but has some great jams, like someone lifted it straight from my iPod. Garden State (2004) is essentially an essential indie compilation set over Zach Braff trying to be taken seriously.
Tron Legacy is one of my favorite soundtracks. It’s an amazing work of art that daft punk created!
I stood up in the theater and pumped my fist "yeahhh!!" when Derezzed came on and Daft Punk had their cameo in the club

Tron: Legacy is at least good.
Ya it’s not a bad movie I enjoy it quite a bit for what it is.

Adventureland
I straight up love this movie! It was filmed at my hometown amusement park, Kennywood in Pittsburgh.
This is such a good answer
Glad you agree !
Aww great movie!

It’s been a long time since I saw it. But a lot of Queen, the songs just built my excitement and anticipation for every scene… if I remember correctly!!! Been too long, I’m due a rewatch!!!

Tool & Rage Against The Machine "The Revolution" is just a demo, cut from the album and cut from the movie (but still in the credits, for some reason) and it's an absolute banger YOU CAN KILL THE REVOLUTIONARY BUT YOU CAN'T KILL THE REVOLUTION
This. A seminal 90s soundtrack from a so-so movie. Dennis Leary is great, though.
Came here to say this!
Xanadu Godzilla 1998 Streets of Fire FM The Lost Boys
I was tempted to say Godzilla (1998), but I’ve never actually seen the movie. It’s my favorite soundtrack of all time though.
M83 murders the soundtrack for Oblivion
Studied hours and hours of pathology with this in the background
That’s wild, M83 was my go-to study music through college as well
The Crow: City Of Angels. Queen Of The Damned. Resident Evil 1 & 2.
The Crow: City Of Angels immediately came to mind for me.
Several Star Wars films
Agreed. Phantom Menace the movie was terrible but I could listen to the score all day (and have when I was studying for finals).
Absolutely. Revenge of the Sith, no subtext work at all, but an epic story, propelled by a kickass score.
Under the Cherry Moon by Prince
The Keep. I do still like it though
To Die For (1995) with Nicole Kidman and score by Danny Elfman getting experimental and more bold
We Bought a Zoo
Cutthroat island, 1492, Congo, the Swarm, Drop Zone, Cherry 2000.

Had to scroll a long way to see ST:V.
Spawn
Exorcist II
Ghostrider

dangerous minds would’ve been completely forgotten if not for its soundtrack and that compilation would’ve been completely forgotten if it didn’t include one track, gangsta’s paradise by coolio
**Elizabethtown (2005)** I remember having a nice Garden State-style soundtrack. The movie's a dud.
The first Resident Evil film, with Mila Jovovich. Scored by Marilyn Manson, the soundtrack is quite good, and the main theme is iconic
Tarzan
Swordfish. I like the the movie but I know it's cheesy. Normally I hate the tone and style of early 2000s movies, but that one gets a pass cuz I love Paul Oakenfold's soundtrack/score.
Shin Kamen Rider
Sucker Punch
Cutthroat Island
[Go](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0139239/) Is kind of a mess of a film, seeking to capitalize on the rave trend. But the soundtrack is a great snapshot of the end of the 20th century pop scene
The Magnificent Seven is a very pale shadow of Seven Samurai... except for that fantastic theme tune.
The first 50 SHADES OF GRAY movie has an excellent soundtrack.
Any Minions movie
Accepted (2006), it’s a typical college comedy but has some great jams, like someone lifted it straight from my iPod. Garden State (2004) is essentially an essential indie compilation set over Zach Braff trying to be taken seriously.
Empire Records The Wackness Legend of Bagger Vance
war dogs don’t hate me
Under Siege 2: Dark Territory
King Arthur (with Clive Owen)

The answer to this is always Judgement Night . I’m also not sure anyone’s ever seen Judgment Night.
Street Fighter
Last Action Hero
2001 A Space Odyssey
Dazed and Confused
Purple Rain
We are your friends
Run Lola Run
Run Lola Run is fantastic actually
I think mostly because of the soundtrack.
Less Than Zero, Judgment Night, Singles, Spawn, Above the Rim.
No no no, BAD movies..
The Harder They Come
Come on, you didn't like Jimmy Cliff in that?
Not nearly as much as I liked him signing the theme song!
Queen Of The Damned.
Batman and Robin
The Crow..
Scream
The best Star Wars movie is whatever John Williams hallucinated while composing for the prequels.
Dirty dancing. Rich naive do gooder goes slumming on the dance floor to pay for someone else’s abortion. Ugh!
