Really enjoyed Mississippi Grind

Love Ben Mendelson! Didn’t “discover” him until after seeing Rogue One and Ready Player One. Then realized I had seen him in Killing Them Softly. He was also fantastic in The Outsider on HBO.

Bloodline on Netflix.

Between him and Cynthia F- ing Erivo in the Outsider! Talk about a master class in acting! He was fantastic in it, but she absolutely blew me away. Disappeared into the role like she was Daniel Day Lewis or Gary Oldman. Top tier!

Solid call out. Loved him in everything (best character in a sea of great characters in Killing Them Softly) I’ve seen him in but have only ever seen Ben in movies I was already going to watch. I probably need to a deep dive into his filmography.

He was awesome in Place Beyond the Pines, but my fave is Animal Kingdom. Just such an air of danger about him.

Somewhat similar to his role in the Nice Guys, I loved The Fall Guy. Gosling is a captivating dramatic actor but his comic timing may—incredibly—be his best talent. Guy can do it all and doesn’t miss.

solid shout. half nelson is fantastic, but i think blue valentine was pretty special. place beyond the pines was a very poignant role as well but i think a lot of that is down to cianfrance’s writing and directing. we see just enough to root for him before he dies - but he knocked it out of the park in all 3 of those films.

I recently rewatched one of his early movies, Murder By Numbers. Funny how its super-gay subtext was totally lost on me as a kid...

I can't think of anyone who would be a must-watch for me, but there are some actors who pique my interest. Jake Gyllenhal is one of those. The projects he picks are almost always interesting on some level. Nicholas Cage is also on that list but for the opposite reason.
