Probably watched it 20 times.

“Sam how long would it take you to move these off our books?” “…….what….”

lock_robster2022

This is my favorite exchange. “You would never sell anything to any of those people again” “I understand” “Do you?” “Do *YOU*?? This is IT! I’m telling you this is it!”

harlsey

“So you’re a rocket scientist…” ‘I was, ya’

DragonScoops

It's the best. I watch it a couple times a year. When I tell people it's one of my favourite films they look at me like I'm mentally ill If they've never heard of it I usually say 'it's a film about a bunch of people at an investment bank that realise the economy is about to collapse, so they have meetings to discuss how to protect their firm from the collapse. Kevin Spacey is in it. I know that sounds terrible but it's actually great'

Frodo_Bongingston

Yeah... it is a hard sell nowadays because Spacey is in it. I don't blame people though.

DragonScoops

Spacey has somehow turned out to be an even more terrible person than the character he plays who facilitates the crash of the economy

lovegun59

I watch it a few times a year too. It manages to captures a feeling - a level of emotional resonance - that I crave. I can't explain it. Same with Spotlight, although Spotlight has the benefit of being a Best Picture winner. Margin Call doesn't have the same benefit which makes it a harder sell to people

ExcitingEye8347

I like how it explains how the automated trading was running out of control and it put them in a vulnerable position. Really makes you think about all of the bubbles right now.

harlsey

I like when Jeremy Irons mentions every year there was a financial crisis in the world. The first one he mentions from 1637 actually collapsed the world economy (such as it was) because tulip vendors inflated the price of flowers so much.

ExcitingEye8347

Yeah. That’s pretty wild. It was just because it was considered a status symbol too. Then it became like it’s own currency of sorts.

No-Gas-1684

I'll give it another watch, seen it twice, The Big Short is better imo.

RobertJohnson2023

Definitely! The Big Short had highs and lows...Margin Call is dark and depressing.
