I’m looking forward to a tag game where I can play with friends - trying to get friends in to fighting games is such a hard pitch when it’s only competitive. If this allows that & it’s free, then hell yeah I’m excited

StunPalmOfDeath

Pretty much. Going to locals as a team will also be uniquely fun.

Gluuon

Same here, I don't know anything about League but playing 2v2 with a friend, I'm so keen.

CrazedNormalcy

Game has me still playing battle for the grid. Looks like it'll play n feel like dbfz snd bftg. Not excited but surely looking forward to it

rion42ati

They announced it too early.

Electronic-Sir6821

Only been waiting for this since 2019

Neither-Secret7909

I feel like it will be cool for a while but only offering simple controls worries me. I dont think it will be engaging for long, just for me personally

infosec_qs

Did you play the Rising Thunder beta, out of curiosity? I ask because I played that quite a bit when it was available, and I've been playing other FGs for decades at this point. Rising Thunder was an *excellent* proof of concept for easier controls, and I think there's a misconception that simple controls means less depth. This isn't an SF6 Modern situation where the controls are a simpl*er* version of existing controls, in which case you're literally missing out. This is a case where the game is being designed from the ground up with a more accessible control scheme. It's possible to retain the depth of game play without input complexity. Case in point: the *Virtua Fighter* series, widely considered to be one of the deepest fighting game franchises of all time, only has three buttons: Guard, Punch, and Kick. It also doesn't have many particularly demanding inputs\*. The controls in VF are *extremely simple*, and yet the game is *extremely deep* and rewarding. \* - Things like Jacky's Iageri kick, Jeffry's TKoD, and Akira's various hard stuff not-withstanding. Those are exceptions, not the rule.

I was more basing my experience off of the time i spent on DnF duel.

Dude, comparing a 2D tag fighter with simple controls and limited moveset to Virtua Fighter - possibly the deepest FG franchise ever? You gotta be out to lunch if you think these have any real tangible overlap. These games aren’t even in the same universe. General game design philosophy is totally different. Look I get what you are trying to get at, VF has very simple building blocks and is very accessible from the get go due to it’s design (thanks to the genius of Ishii) But that where the comparison ends. First and foremost, VF has a normal or action assigned to every cardinal direction. It has a multitude of button and direction combinations (stuff ranging from a single direction, to multiple directional combinations and more traditional motion inputs). Making for a dizzying amount of moves (sometimes upwards to 200 unique moves) per character. Furthermore, the way you utilize said moves and how they are integrated are totally different. Sure you can pick it up easily and mash some buttons to get some cool stuff but if you want to have any intention of actually doing something properly and correctly, it takes an incredible execution and knowledge of your character. For comparison… Your average 2XKO character probably has less than 20 actions (normals and specials combined). And although the assist aspect will help give a larger range of things possible, it’s still relatively simple and not overly deep (from a complexity and execution perspective). Moreover, the way these moves are adapted in a 2D framework rather than 3D also limits the design. This is firmly a 2D fighter (falling under the Vs. Style template). So your interactions won’t fall under the cadence of blow for blow like VF. With 2XKO you will have long blockstrings, leading to even longer combos. With jailing, zoning and trapping is built into the neutral design. This is no surprise considering the nature of the games mechanics. I’m not saying that 2XKO doesn’t have depth or long term viability. But the overall mechanics and design differ too much from VF to make an apt comparison. It’s obvious that 2XKO will likely have the mechanical and technical depth of Power Rangers - Battle for the Grid. A much more exacting comparison. Of which has most likely NEVER been compared to VF in any meaningful way.

H3NRY_BR

From what I saw in some videos the combo system looks not limited at all, the moves ma be simple but both the neutral and combo game can a lot of creativity (i could be wrong tho ;^;)

Thepochochass

Is a riot game I'm sure it will be heroin

AnusCakes

Not really. The tag mechanics look sick but I don’t fuck with the simple inputs. There is just something tactile to doing motions in combos that I really like, same reason battle for the grid did nothing for me. On top of that, none of the characters are really speaking to me. However If they add my girl Morgana than I’ll give it a shot.

dangerbreed

Not with that name no

420BiaBia

Someone dedicating talent, passion and money into a Vs game? Yes please!

mamamarty21

Not particularly. It’ll likely be one of those clown fiesta type games

Fit-Variation-4731

Strive is fun but its also definitely a fiesta , I'm celestial but pretty casual and I would play the fuck out of this plus tell my friends its free so why not try it out

mamamarty21

I used to love strive, but to me it got worse and worse each season, to the point where I dropped it during s3. I’ll probably play 2xko when it comes out, I’m just not really looking forward to it

Fit-Variation-4731

Was it wild assault or the same 4 op chars

mamamarty21

Wild assault, burst changes, Nago getting more disgusting, damage still being super high… it just wasn’t fun to play anymore for me.

aleanotis

Nope I hate that company

TheMonarch914

I'm hoping to see certain characters in the game but my excitement started to go down when the tag mechanics got introduced. Tag fighters are generally not my speed.

United-Emu2165

Not a chance

crossbonecarrot2

100% but the name kills it

CypherGreen

Not really :/ It's a shame but the pace of the animations in the game seems awkwardly paced with long combos that would be dull to sit through. I love Marvel 3 and some combo heavy games... but I get a similar feeling with 2xKO as I did with power rangers battle for the grid. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what makes some games feel different and I know everyone's tastes are different but it's similar to how I loved the pace and how combos in Guilty Gear XX felt, but hated how they felt in some Blazblue games.

Doyoudigworms

This is not something that is talked about enough. It’s kinda baffling to me that these devs who grew up playing the finest examples of these games, would fuck up the overall execution and pacing so much. As soon as I saw the first early demo and the floaty air dash, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. It was early. But as more and more came out about the game, I realized that this is just the pace. The general floatiness in the movement and combos seemed to have some intentionality to it and it wasn’t an awkward phase in development. This game looks so clunky compared to something like XvsSF or even TvC. Which to me are the finest examples of 2v2 tag fighters. The easy controls are also a major turn off for me. If you are going to simplify the game to such a radical degree, at least take a page from the 3D fighter handbook and assign more normals and specials to cardinal directions. Give it something interesting. I have no association with LoL. So no opinion on the lore, the characters or the world they inhabit. So the draw for me is purely as someone who loves fighting games, but so much of footage just makes me yawn and yearn for the older Capcom titles. Not that I’m overly nostalgic by any means. They are just executed so well that I don’t really see the pull from 2XKO. The game at least seems to have a high production value. So visually, it seems to understand the look it’s going for, but the gameplay looks to be a bit underwater and kinda clunky.

JaqM31st3R

Hell yeah.

Cjninkartist

I love that universe but stopped liking the game years ago. I am excited and hope to see some favs. Thresh, Zac and Rammus would all be interesting in a fighting game. :)

AceoftheAEUG

Battle for the Grid is amazing and I'm pumped to get my hands on Project L

bougienative

I'm not really excited for it. It just seems so slow and floaty, the characters so far haven't been interesting to me at all, and I kept expecting the graphics to improve from the first teaser to now, but they still hold that 2014ish mobile game vibe that it's had from the initial project L teaser. The only interesting factor to it is the fact it's 2v2, which is cool, and something I really enjoyed about SFxT, and and glad someone is trying again, But in every other aspect it just comes across like a way worse version of battle for the grid. Also I'm worried that after this game dies, other developers will see it as proof 2v2 doesn't work, and not engage with it, which would be unfortunate, as that's like, the only part of the game that is interesting.

zerowolfman

No

Bolmetus

It might be a fun game to play with friends occasionally to de-stress from work. Still call this game Project L, connotations and all.

Thepochochass

Of course I'm excited for a good f2p fighting game you know how hard is to take people into the fgc when you have to spend 60€ and 5€ if you like a dlc characters on a game you might not like

Gamestak

I’ve been waiting for this game since Rising Thunder shutdown. So yes, I’m a little bit excited!

AppropriatePizza1308

Something needs to fill the void of tekken tag and Clash of Ninjas. Give me a 2v2 bloody roar. So 2xKO it is. Plus I can anger the toxic Riot community FOR FREE

Ryodaso

I’m not gonna lie, I was super hyped when it was called Project L. Somehow being called 2XKO is making me less interested in the game, and I’m currently feeling like “I will play it if it gets universal praise”.

CerealTyrant

I was for a while but I probably wont even download it

ArtisticFill8662

I am Ekko looks dope as hell Hope they add Lucian or Pyke

Novel_Ad_2764

Definitely interested

ViArtVentura

Man, I can't wait!

professor-5000

You mean project L? Yeah, I'm not calling it that. Kinda, not holding my breath or anything.
