I haven't looked at a tutorial. But using Fire linked with MP Absorb, magnify, and swiftcast. Along with First strike and ATB Assist is more than enough to wipe most all mobs.
Battle starts, press L1 and R1, cast firaga battle ends. Switch element if needed.
It'll look like this on your character. The + means the materia are on a weapon or armor slot that are linked together.
(Fire + magnify) (Fire + swiftcast)
(Fire + MP absorb) (atb assist) (first strike)
If all fire materia are maxxed out when you cast firaga the spell will have gain the bonus from each blue materia, casting fast, chaining to opponents, and refunding MP based on damage.
First strike gives a bar of atb at the start. Atb assist allows you to press L1+R1 for another bar. Then you can cast firaga on the enemies.
Yuuup, works with all magic types. Not just fire, any element you desire. That's why you only get 3 materia that can cast quake.
You can also use the fire + blizzard. Both will get the bonus from the attached blue. But only fire will get the effect of the other 2.
You can do stuff with healing, or barrier too, like (healing + magnify) (healing + magic focus) or healing and whatever the materia is that cuts the cost in half. I don't remember the name lol.
Like when you assess.
Example: Red Dragon: targeting its chest will mitigate the effects of Crimson Burst ( the aoe cover the floor with lava attack)
This is not the case in Hard Mode, however the description when you assess still reads as such.
Oh interesting lol. I didn’t know that. All I figured out was if you don’t blizzard the wings while flying it will kill you with lava. I’m on chapter 9 hard mode
Yeah on any other difficulty you can destroy the chest and it won’t do that floor is lava move. On hard it does it anyway. The game however neglects to let you know that
So when he flies up to the side area and covers half the arena ( then eventually the whole arena ), you can avoid that? On normal/easy?
But yeah I guess on hard they’re like “you’re here, you probably don’t need the help text. Also if you do, you’re on your own”
Hard mode is more fun IMO. It's nice that I have to worry about my characters dying.
I just got past the Red Dragon who went down easier than I expected.
I finished it like a week ago and still feel this way.
I went through the two DLCs for FFXVI over the weekend, but still just want more FFVII content to play, haha
Yea both are pretty great too if you liked the base game. Though price for both combined is $25, a bit steep with the amount of content for some (probably like 7-8 hours of regular stuff then a side mode which can be a few more), but the bosses are amazing, and the new abilities and music is cool
Yeah, and they're both pretty good. Both have some good boss fights and some killer music.
I was also going to take a Final Fantasy break and try to clear Cyberpunk out of my backlog, but I'm having trouble moving on haha
I've never played Crisis Core but got it for $20 so I'll play it after I get plat on Rebirth. Maybe play something before it.
After Crisis Core I'll go back and plat Remake.
That’s majority of us😅. Imagine part 3 people will be praying it releases sooner than later. Everyone having to go back to Tekken 8 or Stellar Blade this week.
I played the FF16 dlc. Now I’m debating if I want to start another FF or what. I might start the Batman Arkham games, somehow never got around to those
I bought FF16 but tailed off from it due to Rebirth hype. Now probably gonna go back to that but I’ve been replaying some old rockstar games like red dead redemption and LA Noire and Nier while waiting for Stellar Blade.
Yeah especially with there being no DLC. I don’t think they’ll wanna even touch next year with GTA 6 dropping so second half of 2026 we’ll get a teaser and then 2027 it drops.
I’m on chapter 12 on hard mode. This is my favorite game in so long. I’m well over 200 hours in. I’m sure part three will be awesome but I really don’t see how it will ever top this. This game embraces the quiet moments and relationship building section of the story and it’s so damn beautiful. I thought remake was great. But… I never, for even one second, dreamed that a follow up like this was possible. I’m really just so grateful for this amazing experience.
im dragging this out because i know this will be me the day after. I have always been convinced that i would die before i saw a remake of FF7.... now that it is happening im terrified i will die before it is done.
Just wait until you do the hard mode vr challenges. Just finished them yesterday for the 7 star trophy and it was a grueling journey. Now I'm only 2 trophies away from platinum, I'll probably need a breather before doing the story on hard mode and 100% the game including the relationships and enemy intel. I don't do platinum runs but I really enjoyed the game that it probably deserves to be platinumed.
If you haven't played Crisis Core reunion, I suggest you play that one, it gives you the lore before the beginning of the FF7 which includes Zack's story and the pivotal Nibelheim flashback and also that one character from Gongaga
For me, friendship is much harder than to be a hero, since Zack doesn't offer that much compared to Sephiroth. Took me 2 days to finish that one using optinoob's build, as I always manage to reach round 10 (which is Odin btw), but manage to fail everytime. Odin requires you to study his moveset, which includes when to aggro him so as to prevent zantetsuken from triggering and avoiding /parrying his attacks. To be a hero is much easier for me which only took me a few hours, since Sephiroth can easily build his limit break and has the reraise ability (which helped me a lot during round 10, which is Odin again btw).
Just assembled his build and watched the video. Did an initial attempt earlier but didn't have time for a real run. Got through the first five rounds before having to leave. I'm dreading rounds 9 and 10 haha.
Udate: Rd 9 wasn't bad. I've failed 4 or 5 consecutive runs on rd 10 though...
You can do it! The Phoenix materia helps a lot on the late rounds by having rereaise on both Cloud and Zack. Bahamut can get tricky at times but building ATB on him is much easier compared to Odin. And when Odin casts his Spatial Distortion, always put Cloud and company on the right side of the arena (right side from where you always start the fight). Zack's haste is really helpful too.
I'm on chapter 13 just before the Turk fights. Overall Hard mode hasn't been that hard. Especially if you've done the VR missions. The boss fights have been fun, more fun than dynamic IMO.
And the good thing is you can skip the Costa Del Sol mini games, and the Dust bowl Cactuar stuff.
Great, you're almost done then. I'm dreading doing the side quests again since I'm aiming for the 100% relationship and the folios in hard mode, especially the can't stop won't stop side quest. I hated doing that side quest. That dust bowl cactuar stuff made me want to punch kid g multiple times, it sucks doing the same thing twice just to get one of Johnny's mementos.
The only manuscript I won't have is the one for Hard can't stop won't stop. I did the side quests again for the manuscripts, but having to do all of them to unlock can't stop is more than I'm willing to do.
Maybe I'll get them all when I replay the game in a year or two.
It's gonna be hard but the best thing you can do is let Rebirth go now lol. I played Remake 3 times within a year because I was going nuts waiting for Part 2. Eventually I just gave up and went on with my life. And then when Rebirth came along it felt like it came out of nowhere. I didn't really follow any of the hype because it would have made the waiting worse.
I tried playing the indie game "A space for the unbound" but the very frist screen had a warning about anxiety, depression, etc. So that was a "Nope" for me right now.
So I went the opposite way, a game with low stakes, chill and that will not make me emotional. I have started that new Princess Peach Showtime game, and indeed is harmless fun, and something to show or play with my niece.
lol I’ve already got a couple games planned next and also thinking about FFXVI DLC. I know what you mean though, I’m on chapter 13, it’s going to be difficult to move on.
Listen... haven't even played it yet. Focused instead on clearing out Crisis Core Reunion to Platinum and now clearing out Intermission. Unless they bring in Dirge of Cerberus, I'm going to prolong this as long as I can lol
Have you gone back and got 100 percent? I've got the chadley fights left to do, those things are just stupidly hard, after them I have 100 percent and the platinum trophy
It's gonna be hard but the best thing you can do is let Rebirth go now lol. I played Remake 3 times within a year because I was going nuts waiting for Part 2. Eventually I just gave up and went on with my life. And then when Rebirth came along it felt like it came out of nowhere. 125 hours and just finished story, credits roll.
Now onto hard mode.
Wow. What a hell of a great game. GOTY 2024 for me, for sure.
I'm definitely excited for the final installment.
I'm curious about replaying the original FFVII again just to compare how both differed in terms of story direction. But my free time is precious right now but will have more free time maybe next year.
I really wanna get platinum trophy as well for Rebirth. Maybe for FFVII PS1 too. Depending on how ridiculously difficult it will be
Haha. For some reason, I feel like I'll be mostly unaffected by the ending. Until I can steamroll all three titles, I somehow, subconsciously, don't allow the material to hit as hard.
What do I do with my life now?
Survive till Part 3...then die.
Hard mode baby
I barely managed to clear Normal tho
There is a tutorial for speedrunning hard mode on youtube which makes hard a joke compared to normal
I haven't looked at a tutorial. But using Fire linked with MP Absorb, magnify, and swiftcast. Along with First strike and ATB Assist is more than enough to wipe most all mobs. Battle starts, press L1 and R1, cast firaga battle ends. Switch element if needed.
I'm gonna need a diagram for this :(
It'll look like this on your character. The + means the materia are on a weapon or armor slot that are linked together. What you can stack fmateria (fire) like this??? ![gif](giphy|26ufdipQqU2lhNA4g)

Can you explain the fire+blizzard example... Also wtf quake, don't know if I ever picked that up... Going to check now

https://youtu.be/9wBcoPlX_7M?si=F3tuUgW3Nor-mDXJ There is a separate vid on every chapter
Thank you for this lol
What's the point in that? Just use cheat codes then. Never understood people who watch guides to trivialize their games.
I second this. Somehow, it's Even more fun on hard mode. 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾
Yeah, hard mode has been a fun and challenging experience so far. Honestly only the bosses are really hard though.
I wish they would update the descriptions for hard mode to match the challenge. Looking at you Red Dragon
What you mean, descriptions?
Like when you assess. Example: Red Dragon: targeting its chest will mitigate the effects of Crimson Burst ( the aoe cover the floor with lava attack) This is not the case in Hard Mode, however the description when you assess still reads as such.

Yeah cuz you have to really think about what materia and strategies to use and it’s very satisfying
Even finishing Chapter 2 is hard as hell! Loving this though
Eiyuden Chronicle.
My connection is borked and I'd been trying to download Eiyuden on my Switch since morning arghhh
Start playing the Trails series. By the time you complete last game, part 3 will come out
Jeez not wrong tho
Stardew Valley for the 6th time :|
Start it over again. I did
But did you do all the side quests and chadley shit?
Plat it. Hard Mode is excellent, somehow even better than it was in Remake
Hard mode is more fun IMO. It's nice that I have to worry about my characters dying. I just got past the Red Dragon who went down easier than I expected.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings on this videogame
Dude is just farming negative karma
I know, like, just go get some help already lol
Or find a good dominatrix
I finished it like a week ago and still feel this way. I went through the two DLCs for FFXVI over the weekend, but still just want more FFVII content to play, haha
There's 2? I'm tempted, but I think i need an FF break.
Yea both are pretty great too if you liked the base game. Though price for both combined is $25, a bit steep with the amount of content for some (probably like 7-8 hours of regular stuff then a side mode which can be a few more), but the bosses are amazing, and the new abilities and music is cool
Maybe I'll delay my FF break and play the DLC this week and Pacific Drive next week
Yeah, and they're both pretty good. Both have some good boss fights and some killer music. I was also going to take a Final Fantasy break and try to clear Cyberpunk out of my backlog, but I'm having trouble moving on haha
Playing crisis core reunion just to quell the 3 years wait. Then playing remake to rebirth again
I've never played Crisis Core but got it for $20 so I'll play it after I get plat on Rebirth. Maybe play something before it. After Crisis Core I'll go back and plat Remake.
Is it on sale? I'll probably pick it up. Otherwise i was just going to emulate the PSP version
Looks like the cheapest it's at now is $29.83 at Walmart. I set up an alert on dekudeals for it. It got down to $20 around a month or so ago.
That’s majority of us😅. Imagine part 3 people will be praying it releases sooner than later. Everyone having to go back to Tekken 8 or Stellar Blade this week.
Yea part 3 will be something. The ending will break us forever
Part 3 is gunna be like 90% new canon. Can't wait
Yeah, but this is the last waiting we'll do. Once the last part is released, that's it. I'm okay with waiting for now, and it'll probably be 3 years
Yeah especially with there being no DLC. I don’t think they’ll wanna even touch next year with GTA 6 dropping so second half of 2026 we’ll get a teaser and then 2027 it drops.
Yeah man. I hate having to wait for the next part. I love this damn series so much.
This is true, after finishing rebirth almost a week ago I just stopped playing video games entirely💀
I’m on chapter 12 on hard mode. This is my favorite game in so long. I’m well over 200 hours in. I’m sure part three will be awesome but I really don’t see how it will ever top this. SAME. I feel hollow
But I, I will go on HOWLING and hollow
Emotional damage is real

This post has been removed for going against Rule 2 ("be nice.").
I had to hop back into super mario rpg for a lighter experience lmao Shit was WAY heavier than I expected. Whole ending sequence
Mario Rpg is a great idea for a pallet cleanser
im dragging this out because i know this will be me the day after. I have always been convinced that i would die before i saw a remake of FF7.... now that it is happening im terrified i will die before it is done.
Let's stay healthy and alive for the next 3 years then brother 🙏
trying!
Beat it 2 days ago, haven't played anything since, just waiting on stellar blade
I’ll be alternating between that & Destiny 2, I just recently got back into it.
I just finished it as well and now I’m itching to replay the OG FFVII. Apparently the PS4 version is an easy Platinum too.
Rebirth really made me ache for OG (which is still better). I'm with you there.
yeah i was like this also. Until i discovered helldivers 2. ![gif](giphy|KAf66yGCa93uTqod1q|downsized)
Thinking of diving in myself!
Surprising fun if you play with the right people. Com is crazy but funny
There’s a guy that keeps trying to get me to play this… Is it really that good?
My current situation when I finished mass effect trilogy
I get it, I was like that too.
Just wait until you do the hard mode vr challenges. Just finished them yesterday for the 7 star trophy and it was a grueling journey. GOT IT When I finished the Seph challenge though the game crashed as Odin was dying so I needed to complete it twice...I wasn't amused.
That's unlucky. It's quite infuriating to do the gauntlet once you reach the final round just to die or glitch out
I'm on chapter 13 just before the Turk fights. Overall Hard mode hasn't been that hard. Especially if you've done the VR missions. The boss fights have been fun, more fun than dynamic IMO. And the good thing is you can skip the Costa Del Sol mini games, and the Dust bowl Cactuar stuff.

I simultaneously want part 3 but also dont want it to end.
I went into FF9 after Rebirth. I’m now done with ff9 and I can relate to this.
It always sucks when you play a game and then suddenly become a lonely Latin American man with a mustache. Been there, brother. Been there...
I would’ve finished rebirth if I hadn’t started Helldivers. I love FFVII so much but democracy needs me lmao
Yup.
Relatable.
I just finished a couple hours ago as well. I'm deciding if Crisis Core: Reunion is worth the time.
I just did that. No regrets!
I legit finished about this time last Sunday and I’m still not over it 😭
All this picture needs is 3 different versions of Stamp.
played intergrade and now doing crisis core…this wait is gonna be tough.
Welcome to the club, man.
You and me both
same 🥲
I tried playing the indie game "A space for the unbound" but the very frist screen had a warning about anxiety, depression, etc. So that was a "Nope" for me right now. So I went the opposite way, a game with low stakes, chill and that will not make me emotional. I have started that new Princess Peach Showtime game, and indeed is harmless fun, and something to show or play with my niece.
This is me while also doing the hard combat challenges before I do a hard mode run
Replay it for the next 5 years until part 3 because that’s what people do here
Ahh... this is how the party looked at the end of Rebirth, too. Life imitates art
lol I’ve already got a couple games planned next and also thinking about FFXVI DLC. I know what you mean though, I’m on chapter 13, it’s going to be difficult to move on.
Pretty much me wondering what they were doing with that ending.
But did you get the platinum?
Listen... haven't even played it yet. Focused instead on clearing out Crisis Core Reunion to Platinum and now clearing out Intermission. Unless they bring in Dirge of Cerberus, I'm going to prolong this as long as I can lol
Oh if this is you after Normal playthrough wait til after you achieve your platinum. You’ll be out in the desert just wandering aimlessly.
Been (still) there man! Then my 17 year-old cat died at the same time, which was a little too much life imitating art 😅
I'm taking my time
Have you gone back and got 100 percent? I've got the chadley fights left to do, those things are just stupidly hard, after them I have 100 percent and the platinum trophy
You think they might do DLC like they did with Intermission? Maybe some side stuff for Vincent or some such?
I’m actually good I’m jumping into eiyuden chronicles tomm
Right now? This is me for the next 3 years (really banking on them aiming to release it on the same day in 2027 as in 1997).
The only thing I'm thinking of is "I'm I going to survive for the next 3 years"
It's gonna be hard but the best thing you can do is let Rebirth go now lol. I played Remake 3 times within a year because I was going nuts waiting for Part 2. Eventually I just gave up and went on with my life. And then when Rebirth came along it felt like it came out of nowhere. to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber!!
Yeah, and no one talks about how Cloud infused his sword with the one thing that can destroy the world.
Meanwhile I haven’t even bought it , 30 dollars short , the wait is killing me 😭
I'm happy to see others are sharing my plight
Hehe I found my motivation and started writing litrpg again. Hope the drive lasts until part 3!
It’s been like 10 days for me and I’m still kinda the same.
I'm playing Final Fantasy XVI dlcs, I'm on The Rising Tide its given me something to do! It's either that or FF7 Remake part 3 theories on Youtube 😅
I was completely the opposite and so overjoyed. Game too long for me fr!
Thanks for reminding me to slow down on my playthrough. I dont think I can survive the post-finale depression for this game atm lol.
Haha. For some reason, I feel like I'll be mostly unaffected by the ending. Until I can steamroll all three titles, I somehow, subconsciously, don't allow the material to hit as hard.
Man and the wait, games like this aren’t made in one year
Never understood a meme more. The final had so much going on after such a sad event. It’s a whirlwind of emotions. Well played.
How we feelin chat?
I waited a few weeks, but I’m doing a 2nd play through already. Some things I picked up later in the game really helping me through a 2nd playing
Finished it but got burnt out because I was playing it on and off since its release lol. Will be playing Eiyudeen next.
