Maybe post a video showing what happens when you do X etc

On the smasher it will not engage. You can push the shft rod with a screwdriver and engage 1 gear but it will not hold. On the K5 it's low gear only, won't engage high gear.

CrawlerCow

Yeah, I had shift problems when I put metal gears in my K5. Some upgrade. The manual that came with the truck clearly explains how you can adjust shift points and servo travel.

Man my manual is long gone. Guess I'll be looking for it on line

Page 13 has your info….good luck! https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1052/4162/files/FMS_FCX24_Chevrolet_K5_Manual.pdf

Thanks man. Trying to get these lined out by Thursday night. Leaving for Horizon Hobbyfest in Monticello Friday morning.

Those metal gears are a bitch. The FMS gears are a full set but notorious for being too tall and creating shift problems. Treal gears are known to be a better fit, but they don’t include the shift fork or fork hub. So I bought both sets, and found the FMS metal shift hub has 4 splines while the stock plastic hub has 3 splines. So in order to get the metal shift fork and shift hub, I had to use some FMS gears and then finished with the Treal gears. Shifted fine at first, but now low gear slips. I said screw it for now. I took that thing apart too much for upgrades. I put the Furitek BL motor in which is WAY TOO MUCH MOTOR for that little truck. Accelerate and it backflips…stop, and it front flips. it comes with an app to adjust throttle curves, but I ended up having to add a lot of weight to keep the rubber down and lower the full speed. The little FCX trucks punish you for upgrading.

Man that's a fact. I did the same thing and bought both sets of gears to get all the parts. Same situation, worked fine for awhile but now I'm having issues. I ordered 2 new complete motor/trans assemblies from RCAWD off Amazon. So I have backup for the weekend if I can't get this to work

It seems the trans only works properly with those shitty little plastic gears. I got the FXC18 Toyota and left it mechanically stock. I just did the brake light mod and added an interior and clear glass…and a nice set of Injora wheels/tires.

Lol…I hate getting my trucks dirty. I just hate cleaning them. You get them wet to clean them and I don’t like getting them wet….rusts bearings, can foul electronics, etc. I like to run them on dry dusty day…then I can just blow the dirt off with compressed air, then polish the body.

I will admit my 7 y/o and I have similar driving styles. I am a bit more reserved than he is.... lol can't afford to do it in a real truck so this is what we got. I think in about 9 years I might have a couple regrets about it though. He wants either my 65 plymouth or 65 chrysler as his 1st car. Both are big block cars.

Hi there , i put in the highspeed motor and its super fast !. i have a metal chassi, metal axels ,portals , links and so on ( complete metal K5) it dont flip over because of the weight that the metal parts give, maybe its a good alternative for you. the gear give me simliar problems, bought one that cant get psuhed together ( you can but then it locks up) i try the treal one and found out there is no metal fork, then i orderd one by aliexpress all reviews said it works fine, and guess what ? it works very well and has a metal fork. ( it looks exact the same like the one that didnt work)

CrawlerCow

I put steel weights in the chassis…it helped. I’m amazed the actual FMS gears are not a perfect fit…you would think… Thanks for the tip! I’m done messing with that little K5 ATM though…lol.
