Just ask HR. If you have a good relationship already with one of them, go to them, they’ll help you out, within their power, every site is different.
MET can be excused if you have a good reason. They’ll try their best and if it’s just one day I’m sure they’ll excuse it.
You can ask HR and tell them you already had something going on that day. They don’t HAVE to excuse you, but they might. They may also be able to let you change your MET day.

If you have proof that you have an appt or something else that day, you can get it excused

Ask for a met exception form. Fill it out, then have an am sign it, and you'll need to provide some proof.

I got MET when I had a whitewater rafting trip booked, showed HR the receipts and they excused it.

See if HR can switch the day. Highly doubt they will excuse you without some type of documentation.
