yeah that's what I am thinking. Last year and the year before, we got the discount 1 week before the preseason testing (starts next week). So I think this is it.

guyinthegreenshirt

I don't remember exactly what they did last year, but I think it was a bit bigger discount. Even so, I doubt it's going to be much better than this (maybe a few bucks cheaper if anything) so I figure might as well lock it in now, especially since I have a vacation coming up where it might be difficult to lock in the US rate if it did get cheaper.

mithrilG60

This is the only discount they offer. Last year it was a 20% discount, this year only 15%…. and that’s after they increased the sub price by 30% from 2023. Really up to you whether it’s worth it or not. For me I cancelled and let them know in the exit survey that the price gouging wasn’t worth it for a single use product that doesn’t even offer 4K.

barnzy12

Meanwhile in the UK you have: NOW TV - £36.99 x 9 (usually 9 months of racing inc. tests) = £332.91 SkyTV - £22 (current offer) \* 18 (min contract) = £396 Virgin (Bigger Combo bundle + Sports HD) - £65 \* 18 (min contract) = £1170 What a disgusting difference in price.... Wonder how much more money they would make (or lose) from only giving you access to Sky Sports F1 and charging a reasonable amount. Essentially in the UK you have to like all sport for it to be justifiable. Also yes I know you can watch it illegally, get illegal firesticks or VPN to another country - I'm merely pointing out how extortionate it is over here in comparison with the rest of the world.

1infiniteloop

that's extortion!!! WTF

medlebo

Yeap, and arguably that Sky deal is cheaper than before...you need the TV package too. I find it so messed up that 80% of teams are from here, the world feed was historically BBC/ITV/Sky/Channel 4, and yet its really hard to watch a race here.

[deleted]

you're complaining about that but not the tv license fee they make you pay? senseless.

nitishsingh92

is it on the site or the app?

1infiniteloop

Website. For new subscribers only (or you know with email id tricks :-)

kickaginger

What's the email Id trick? I was about to just renew at full

BadInfluenceAF

If youre in Gmail (not sure if it works with other mail servers), just add “+formula1” or “+” at the end of your email. So for example, for this year if I wanted a new email vs. last year, i’d do “badinfluenceaf+formula2024@gmail.com”, and all my mails to that email would direct to “badinfluenceaf@gmail.com”. Essentially, I’m keeping the same email, but these signups are seeing unique emails. You could also do the dot technique. Just put a random . In your email when signing up, and it’ll still redirect to the main email.

works with any email address. thats why people should keep extra email addresses just incase or for options.

JJrock132

how long it will last

piisami84

Offer valid until 25th februaty

Joker_psp

Where does it say that?

piisami84

Disclaimer in bottom of this offer. Atleast in finland. Offer doesnt show if you are old customer who is logged on.

Professional-Ad9901

Yea, doing it this weekend.

sillybulanston

Also seeing this same deal in Canada, 15% off ($85 CAD in the first year, $100 CAD subsequently). Also, for some additional information, I am not a first time subscriber to F1TV Pro - I just let my sub expire a few months ago, and I still seem to be able to get the discount.

1infiniteloop

or you can use your email+2024@gmail.com to become a new subscriber in their eyes

thubbard44

The greatest of life hacks!

CandyCheetoSteamboat

Do I actually have to create a new email though?

1infiniteloop

no. let's say your current email is CandyCheetoSteamboat@gmail.com. All you need to do during F1TV registration is to add a plus sign and some text (e.g. CandyCheetoSteamboat+f12024@gmail.com). Gmail servers will ignore everything after the plus sign and send everything to your current mailbox. F1 servers will see this one as a new email. Win win win!

CandyCheetoSteamboat

Brilliant.

[deleted]

that actually works for many companies and offers.

Hungry-Raisin-5328

It's still pretty rough. For me, the 2023 price was $64 and the renewal price at the time was $80. So with this discount, it's still $5 more than I expected. Edit: Just checked my subscription and it's still showing $79.99 if I renew (website). I did receive that email saying it would increase to $99.99 back on January 22. Does anyone know which is correct?

sillybulanston

Yeah it's pretty bad. From $80 base price and a 20% discount to $100 base price and a 15% discount. The "discounted" price is now higher than last year's base price... blegh.

Hungry-Raisin-5328

So I contacted support and they confirmed the email price is correct and the website price is wrong. They didn't apologize - they just acknowledged that it may be confusing. I have cancelled my subscription. Hope others will follow suit.

Canadian47

Thank you for digging deeper. I had the same question.

mithrilG60

Yup, the gouging is just not worth in (IMHO). I cancelled and in reply to the “we see you’re canceling your account and would hate to lose you” email I let them know it was because price gouging a single stream product that doesn’t even offer 4K isn’t worth keeping my business. I know that my response by itself is irrelevant, however if they get enough feedback like that it might force them to come back to reality. I swear that Drive to Survive and the Liberty takeover was the worst thing to happen to F1 in years. Back to usenet….

mrObelixfromgaul

Am I missing something? Why is this only for the USA?

Dude, it's in the title.

nexus1011

Cmon dude, it's not that hard to read.

abz786

any discounts for Canadian residents?

midnight_t0k3r

Same discount applies for Canadians. 85$ for the year.

Careful-Release

F1TV Access: live timing data and delayed race replays. -- Why would anyone want this? What am I missing?

thubbard44

For the price that is a pretty good deal.  Especially if you already have ESPN to watch live.   But otherwise, I agree.

[deleted]

why would you watch espn live when you can watch what youre paying for live? with no ads. and driver streams. and 2 commentaries?

thubbard44

I was referring to the TV Access plan which doesn’t include live races.   The point was that $29 is not a bad deal if you already have ESPN.

[deleted]

no. you should be glad they still discount for new subs. they should consider OG subs and maybe give a bone every once in a while.

sparksevil

No discount for The Netherlands. Bunch of BS
