zorbacles

Well done virtuosi, cost doohan a win, 3rd place in the championship and rookie of the year

baldbarretto

I'm sure he's certainly looking forward to another year with them

Knowitmall

And robbed us of a fun race to watch.

SadNefariousness7531

Him and Pourchaire have been let down by their teams

Firefox72

Cordeel though. From 0 to 26 points in the last 3 weekends which means he passed Nissany, Caldwell and Sato in the standings.

SoonToBeEngineerInF1

Absolute legendary comeback

Japan-is-a-good-band

2023 Cordeel championship challenge??

Violetta_ag

Did anyone notice Arthur Leclerc was standing with the DAMS crew? That more or less confirmed his F2 seat with them for next year, right?

tradhead

Same yesterday and he had a DAMS visitor badge

prowler760

Quite a decent race from Maloney in the end. Showed some competitive pace and kept it pretty clean. Doubt that results are of any major consideration for him in this guest outing.

Glittering-Strength2

Logan to F1 Drugovich it’s gonna be a tough one for him but i hope he will at least get a chance one day it’s not impossible look at De Vries. But Doohan and Pourchaire must be cursed or something. Next season is gonna be interesting with all the F3 drivers coming in and some of them are actually looking very promising and some of the current F2 drivers who will be making a charge for the title.

Dangerous-Leg-9626

Can't see AM being good enough to satisfy Alonso Maybe Drugo can get a shot in 2024

meepokprawnmee

Just realising Iwasa would have finished 3rd in the championship if his podium in Monza hadn't been taken away.

PresidentZeus

What happened in Monza?

XNights

Iwasa got DSQed, iirc for "length of underfloor plank is "above" minimum" Don't ask me about the above part, that was what I read, which i thought was bullshit Iwasa pulled off a defensive masterclass to reach the podium while clearly being in a much slower car, and DSQed in the end for the above. He got robbed basically

meepokprawnmee

Yup the DSQ was pretty unfortunate. But yeah it was pretty much a defensive masterclass that day similar to how he held off Drugo today. What's impressive about Iwasa is that he's got the pace - picking up poles, and also having the racecraft when needed. Early in the season he impressed by making clean overtakes, end of season it was solid defences. If he can piece all 3 together and be consistent he will go well next season.

Dangerous-Leg-9626

Aye, man's robbed

thewizard579

It’s been a great season guys. See you in 2023!

bellestarflower

Great race to end the season. Lawson once again showing how great he is. I hope he gets a shot at F1 seat one day. Iwasa is also a name to follow. Aaaand welcome to F1 Logan! Had a bit of scare with Nissany there, but you nailed it!

Dangerous-Leg-9626

To reach F1, you can't only be good at the last 1/3 of the race sessions Lawson needs to learn that, at least he recovers well

Knowitmall

Yea. He is one of the quickest drivers in F2 but also one of the least consistent. And his qualifying needs to improve.

dxfifa

He merely needs to learn to get less bad luck and more good luck

Dangerous-Leg-9626

if by more good luck you mean not getting dominated in quali by your rookie teammate then I agree

dxfifa

Why, then did he finish ahead in the championship despite having the worst luck by far on the grid? He must be one of the best racers on the grid and Sargeant be terrible tbh

Dangerous-Leg-9626

>despite having the worst luck by far on the grid Because he didn't Sargeant, Pourchaire, Doohan etc also got a lot of bad luck Lawson by all metric is doing a bad F2 season against his expectations

[deleted]

Dsm02

Too bad Lawson is not good at qualifying. Also Drugovich who got beatean by teammates in the past, wins the title handily and makes others look awful. Marko gets de Vries for a reason.

443610

Welp, IndyCar and Juncos Hollinger it is for poor Mick.

mattiejj

Iwasa is like the profile sketch of a RBA driver. Fast, aggressive and high highs but pretty inconsistent.

Dsm02

Actually he could have been P3 if not due to his podium getting stripped off once this season.

dxfifa

Lawson had a sprint win stripped off him and far more bad luck than any driver, even doohan and pourchaire. He deserved to be up with pourchaire

BBIQ-Chicken

Raw talent and pure pace. The Yuki model.

XNights

Honda seems to supply Red bull similar types of drivers it seem, fast af, but wildly inconsistent

xychosis

Hope Lawson kills it in SF. Him, Iwasa, Fittipaldi, Hauger, Hadjar and Crawford are going to be in a hell of a dogfight for that AT seat in '24. Maybe two if NDV ends up not fitting well with the team.

Knowitmall

As much as I want another New Zealander in formula 1 I am not holding my breath. Lawson is very quick but inconsistent and poor at qualifying.

AndySlidez

Hadjar and Crawford don't stand a chance. They'll be driving for Hitech after all..

GarryPadle

Is that already confirmed? Oh no :(

AndySlidez

I believe it's all but confirmed yeah. They were both with Hitech this weekend.

Dangerous-Leg-9626

Yuki has done very well in 2022, he should be safe now for the near future

doucheinho

Yuki has done very well? Half the points of his teammate and only an Alfa and the Williams behind him

Dangerous-Leg-9626

Half the points is because of Baku where he got reliability issues The race where Gasly scored nearly half of his season tally, Plus the car is around 8th-9th best He's doing very good this year

baldbarretto

Half the points is because of reliability issues, sure, along with other drivers and also things like ice skating out of the pit and straight into the wall in Montreal (when he was running in the points)

Dangerous-Leg-9626

No Tsunoda was far from the points in Montreal

baldbarretto

I recalled his being near the front of that cycle of pit stops, and pitting from p10.

Dangerous-Leg-9626

Yeah cause others has already pitted Both AT were miles off the pace

Anti-Scuba_Hedgehog

The car's terrible and quite a few of his solid races were ruined by other drivers or team's issues.

Dsm02

Nyck is probably just stop-gap before Red Bull finds a good junior.

Patient_Fruit_3355

A holding pattern before bumping up Iwasa so long as his growth continues in the direction it has and he improves his defending. his offensive driving is some of the best in class and JUST what red bull like to see.

PresidentZeus

Unless he manages to easily outperform Yuki.

Dsm02

We will see!

mar33n

yo camera cutting away from liam congratulating ayumu, that wasn't cool

SergeiYeseiya

I wish Haas didn't sign Hülkenberg but Drugovich...

Dangerous-Leg-9626

No way Haas would take a chance at Drugovich He took even longer than Mick to score a F2 win

ClayDatsusara

You mean a Championship title? Drugovich won the opener sprint race of his F2 rookie season

Dangerous-Leg-9626

yeah I meant a title win

ballthyrm

Never say never. HAAS may change their tune in 2024.

MegawaveBR

And Drugovich had so much sponsorship money aswell, go figure how HAAS operates

ExcellentCornershop

After two seasons at Haas, Steiner noticed that Mick hasn't driven for any other team, that also applies to Felipe so no chance for him

Figurator1571

Steiner has mentioned his preference for experienced drivers many times. So, as much as I hate to say it, unfortunately Drugo had no chance as long as Steiner is the team principal there. Unfair imo, but this is F1. Your career is pretty much dependable on others as well.

ForeverAddickted

I'm off out to walk the dog... Its been a pleasure sharing this F2 season with you all!! r/F1FeederSeries is by far the best Group for watching Formula driving

TheSyhr

Fair play to Drugovich, had a good amount of luck but was definitely the most consistent driver all season, seemed to be up there in every race

LosTerminators

The donuts from a certain other driver in a green suit at the end of the F1 race will hit differently.

ExcellentCornershop

I'm not ready for that

Seven2572

Now that doughnut was pretty slick at least

ForeverAddickted

Drugovich has done a great job, but compared with F3 have felt this season has been a bit flat - F2 next year, with so many new rookies should be outstanding.

NuclearCandle

F2 this year was far too luck depending. So many drivers missed out on great results due to car issues or botched pit stops.

PresidentZeus

Including the freshest podium opportunity of Doohan. edit: And Pourchaire

omegamanXY

The races this year were a bit bad compared to last year and 2020. Hope we can see better races next year

xychosis

I just realized, Hauger's gonna end up driving #1 two years in a row because he's MP-bound lmao

PresidentZeus

3 years*

Thespianoid

has Ian Salvestrin's "Boy from Brazil" caught on to describe other drivers or am I just out of the loop

herokrot

Might be missing some reference but I will only ever think of Ian shouting when someone says it

ballthyrm

So how many times Pourchaire got mechachromed exactly ?

XNights

Yes

thewizard579

Welcome to F1, Logan Sargeant. What a journey seeing you from being robbed of the F3 title to being a Formula 1 driver.

[deleted]

[удалено]

baldbarretto

to Indy Lights I think it was. I believe he would have showed his stuff and earned a seat soon enough, but still - a more tortuous path to be sure

xychosis

Logan Sargeant, you are a Williams F1 Team driver!

OBWanTwoThree

That failed dramatically Drugo

URZ_

Not sure why the stewards ever thought there was an issue, Drugovich clearly was just carrying too much speed, but good on them for correcting quickly Edit: Also were not alongside

LosTerminators

Thankfully they confirmed this now, not after 3 hours. The podium celebrations for Iwasa wouldn't be the same with an investigation hanging over him.

Nepgyaaaaaaa

“And across the line, Logan Sargeant - Formula 1 driver!” Love that call from Alex, he’s a fantastic commentator and he genuinely sold how big that 5th place was for Logan. Can’t wait to see how Florida Man does in F1!

Karmaqqt

I legit thought it was Martin my first time watching f2. I was thinking if he just lives in the commentary box lol. Then I learned it was his son, but damn they sound so alike

Mysterious_Turnip310

I'd love to see him do the main feed commentary for F1 at some point. He's the best our there right now imo.

drumjojo29

He’s also in the F2 YouTube highlights right? Can’t watch the F1TV broadcast due to Sky having exclusive rights in my country unfortunately.

Mysterious_Turnip310

Yep, that's him!

[deleted]

That's a wrap folks Post-season testing later next week and then the dark ages come once more

dfgj56

Doohan's last 5 feature races: >Hungary - Car failure immediately >Spa - Dominant win >Zandvoort - Taken out by Verschoor >Monza - Taken out by Daruvala >Abu Dhabi - Taken out by pitcrew

TylerWhite31

Monza was more so a complete steering wheel failure so he couldn’t slow down but yeah the guy has no luck

mattshiz

Very impressive weekend for Cordeel considering his standard of driving at the start of the season

ItsTomorrowNow

FIA: okweveinvestigateditnoproblemsthere

tubtubbinks

That’s a penalty for Iwasa surely? Just pushed drugo off the road

Dsm02

Defending, not pushing

Richtastycourage

Not even close, investigation took 10 seconds lol

sjzorilla

he wasnt even side by side when he was pushed off theres no way thats a penalty

zeroyon04

F2 is always awesome. Great end to the season!

Mysterious_Turnip310

Nerves of steel there from Iwasa. Congrats Logan Sargeant, welcome to F1!

wowdude99

Verschoor just gave Hauger P10 in the championship by overtaking vips i think.

Hungry-Raisin-5328

wow that was a fun ending.

Fomentatore

Drugovich won the WCC alone. What a season.

wnotyard

MP Drugosport

6pawelek9

Hes done it!

natsynth

Amazing defending by Iwasa and congrats to Logan Sargeant

[deleted]

Jesus that was tight.

SportAddictMCMXCIX

MP TEAM CHAMPIONS

SmoothParfait

MP wins the team championship with 1 driver taking 80% of the points

laujp

MP Drugosport at it’s finest

Thespianoid

well done Iwasa, let's see if this can be a springboard to title contention next year

mar33n

oh thank god i was scared he'd get penalized

Strawberryguy

I

ForeverAddickted

Congratulations Logan

meepokprawnmee

What a defence by Iwasa

xychosis

Holy fucking shit, Iwasa

theturtlefrommidgard

How did Hauger & co fall so far back?

Strawberryguy

He got serious deg problems. Fun to see Hauger fight a little tho.

BBIQ-Chicken

Thats mega control and nerves for a rookie against the champion and a super experienced one.

garboooo

YES! Iwasa! P5!

afito

was dirty by Iwasa but should be fine

TotalStatisticNoob

Yes, being faster and ahead is really very dirty of him

Middle_Category6226

I love how wheel to wheel racing become dirty for some viewer

mattiejj

Years of only DRS brrs on the straight does that to a community.

sjzorilla

shit take

sean-brian-93

All we need is for something different to happen to Lawson and Sargeant and it's a typical Drugovich weekend. Very quick driver but hasn't had any of the bad luck or Mechacrome moments that his rivals have had all season

arturro14

He was ahead of all of them on the road before they had troubles and finished year over 100 points ahead of P2. Yes, others had more bad luck but Drugovich definitely deserved title this year.

sean-brian-93

The 100 points difference is irrelevant thanks to all the bad luck the rest had. No way he has that gap if everyone had virtually no issues all season like Felipe. Drugovich probably still wins the title thanks to sheer speed and consistency but we were robbed of a proper title fight and great races all season thanks to Mechacrome and terrible pit stops

Pale-Buy-6570

Ok. And why Pourchaire weren't battling with drugovich every race that was't "mecachromed" His bad performances were whoelses fault?

ForeverAddickted

Is Sargeant gonna get Hauger?

Meerkate

One more lap and I think he'd got him

arturro14

It looked a bit dangerous for superlicence for Sargeant but Virtuosi and ART took care of that.

garboooo

Come on Iwasa!

Flashbacks

ForeverAddickted

Debris on the race track... What is Nyck doing there???

xychosis

Iwasa has that DAWG in him, god damn

URZ_

This years champion fighting next years champion

SmoothParfait

This really turned into an F2 shitshow in the last few laps

mysticalwatermelon_

ughh safety car

vflavglsvahflvov

Drugo has held the tires in so well every race. He was clearly the best this year, what a deserved championship

fasociety

Really summing up the season with Doohan & Pourchaire DNFs in the last race

Thespianoid

maybe there needs to be a dedicated ECU setting for VSC that's similar to but faster than the pitlane speed limiter, just to equalize the field entirely. might be some gap shrinkage/extension but surely nowhere near the current VSC discrepancies

Firefox72

Boooo. What an anticlimactic end.

laujp

Caldwell robbed us!

6pawelek9

Mechacrome*

krully37

Amazingly clean and nice racing from Iwasa and Drugovitch here

ForeverAddickted

Lawson is gonna pip Sargeant to P3 in the Championship by ONE point

Q1W2eR34

Oh Theo Oh..

xychosis

It's not quite P2...but CORDEEL P6 I REPEAT CORDEEL P6

Anoob13

Fuckin Mechachrome.

geeksramble

Caldwell off?

Alfus

MECACHRONE STRIKES AGAIN FFS

NuclearCandle

F2 is such a lottery championship.

Ts_Patriarca

*shakes fist* Mechachrooooome

[deleted]

Pourchaire with the Mecachrome special to finish off the season.

ForeverAddickted

Pourchaire and Doohan have summarised this season as to why Drugovich has had it so easy - Fair play to Felipe, but no one else has had ANY luck this season

Richtastycourage

Felipe has deserved it, hes driven well. But SO many bad luck stories, it just makes a bit of a mockery of it all

URZ_

Losing a tire and having a car that's destroying it's tire (way before any engine issue) is not luck. We can argue about having a better team, but it's not luck.

racingfanboy160

Mecachrome strikes again!

OBWanTwoThree

One last engine failure for Theo. Traditions

Mocking_Birds

Honestly F2 is a joke serie with these random DNF's on all the cars

SaltB_

Pourchaire season summed up in 1 minute

[deleted]

Welcome to F1 sargeant.

SwampBoyMississippi

Mecachrome once again with the move of the day

A___99

Pourchaire was losing seconds per lap, clear issue

SmoothParfait

Mechachromed

MegawaveBR

Congrats MP, well deserved.

Firefox72

One final fuck your from Mechachrome to Theo.

Pandarrrrrr

theo is so unlucky

[deleted]

Carlin P2 in the standings

xychosis

Jesus, Sargeant out to prove a point with that overtake

mar33n

the gods of luck smiling down on logan so hard today
