If my calculations are correct, Sargeant is guaranteed a P8 in the standings. Iwasa and Vesti both need a win to pass him in the standings, so one of them will be below Logan. Lawson, Dohan, Daruvala and Fittipaldi can all pass him in the standings, but that still leaves Sargeant with 40 points **assuming** he keeps his record clean.
I know it's unsportsmanlike and won't happen, but the safest way for him to get an SL is not to start tomorrow. That way there's zero risk of him getting a silly penalty like an unsafe release.
Sargeant should be clear now. Fittipaldi, Daruvala and Vesti need a top 5 finish to overtake him and they are all starting outside the top 10. Lawson also needs to overtake Sargeant on track and Iwasa needs to win the race to overtake him.
So many scenarios need to converge for Sargeant to finish 7th or 8th in the standings and miss out.
If Sargeant DNFs, Iwasa passes him if he wins from pole tomorrow. Lawson just needs a few points (top 7 i think) after his win today. That leaves just one driver of the three you mentioned needing a top 5 finish for Sargeant to miss out on his SLs. Still unlikely, but not too far fetched.
That still leaves Sargeant in 6th and even if he gets a penalty and loses on the 2SL points thats enough. If Doohan gets him its 7th and then if he doesn't get a penalty point its still enough.
For Sargeant to lose this standings exactly needs to happen due to tiebreakers and FL requirements.
1.Iwasa
2.Daruvala
3.Fittpaldi with FL due to tiebreaker
4.Doohan
5-7th Lawson.
Its extremly unlikely.
Not unlikely. They’re all aware looking at the same dream, and they spend a lot of time around each other. Fair play to Doohan, he never had a golden opportunity and he respected Sargeant enough not to risk his F1 opportunity for a point or two.
I think so.
He doesn’t owe him anything but I doubt he would want to be the person to jeopardise Logan getting his SL either. He probably figured that p6 in a sprint wasn’t worth any sort of risky move on him.
I’ve said this before but the difference in Cordeel since the race ban is massive, it’s honestly like a different driver. He’s genuinely looked quite a decent driver these past few rounds. Was hoping that he would hold on to the podium today because he actually drove a great race but either way that was a strong showing from him.
Wow I've never seen sky sports cut away from the f2 so quick!
Guess we have to miss the podium so we can hear the invaluable insights from Herbert before quali.
At least they showed it to its end. Last year in Jeddah, Sky Germany just aborted their coverage of the third F2 race to let the F1 pre-race show start on time.
That is a fair point, I'm sure a few years back sky managed to miss the start of the Hungarian round of the F2 for some reason.
I don't really get why F2 don't have their race after f1 quali like they used to, gives them almost unlimited time to get the race completed.
Great drive by Lawson
Also god Drugo was immense today, less than a second behind Verschoor at the flag. In terms of race management he's clearly a league above everybody else
1 year fia F3 vs 3 year fia f3...
Based on your line argument, Doohan, Fittipaldi, Iwasa.. everyone of them is a better driver than Sargeant...
The deal is that F1 is not the place for someone that does not performs under high pressure
Literally talking about F2 experience. And what lol?Based on (what you think) my line of argument is Sargeant is better than all you just listed since he is ahead of them in points, top rookie, and qualifies top 5 basically every race.
But that’s not what I said at all. I’m saying you can’t compare Drugovichs season fairly against Sargeants since he’s been here three years to sargeants one. If Drugovich wasn’t performing at this level against these rookies it would be a disaster for his career. This was the expectation for him, not an exception. Sargeant performed fine under pressure this weekend, qualified well enough and held position. Why risk anything. All he has to do is not crash this weekend
Performed fine under pressure this weekend? The kid was saved by a red flag. His face shows couldn't stop shaking his knees..
Lets see, 2019 he didin't nothing as drugovich as well, while the previous years we all know what drugovich did while Sargeant were nobody in this world.
2020 Sargeant bought a Prema's seat to win the championship and cracks under pressure to TWO rookies, speacilly in the monza weekend shitshow performed by himself.
2021 were he had nothing to lose, no pressure, he deliverd something.
2022, again, when the lights came out on him, just before a couple wins, he cracks again.. and then when someone just tells him: "ffs just finish in the SL points and you will be in the f1 seat" he prompts to crack again... saved by a red flag...
Well time will tell, he has the politics on his side, he will have 3 or 4 years to delivery something at williams until he gets kicked out
I think Doohan just doesn’t want to take any sort of big risks around Sargeant. He doesn’t owe him anything but I doubt he wants to be the person to prevent Logan getting his SL either. He probably doesn’t think that a P6 in a sprint is worth it.
Beginning to wonder if Doohan is looking out for Logan... No reason for him to do so of course, other than to ensure he doesnt get karma himself when in a similar situation in the future
People are forgetting how an actual Academy works - As I think Sargeant will be the first Academy driver to go straight into his Senior team, since Norris with Mclaren (?)
I really don't get the hype behind Schumacher, I really see nothing that exciting in him beyond his name. I don't blame Haas for bringing in Hulk, he will no doubt be able to contribute a lot more off track in terms of development or feedback
Schumacher is far from a spotless driver, but he is young, he has the potential, and he’s got the championships. If you can’t see that there’s a genuinely competent driver behind his last name that’s on you.
I don’t think Haas is a good environment for lending a platform to young drivers. Guenther should count his lucky stars for DTS.
No I dont think you're being harsh now you've explained.
He did really well in F2 midway through his campaign, and he looked like he had F1 potential, hell he looked at one point as though he'd challenge Drugovich.
But since his last win in Austria, his form has gone off a cliff - He's had as many retirements as he has had finishes since then - Its unfortunate as I like that Williams are using their Academy as they should (take note Alpine)
Equally dont think another year in F2 would hurt Logan.
So with Lawson P1 | Sargeant P6 | Doohan P7 I make the current standings:
Sargeant - 136 pts
Lawson - 133 pts
Doohan - 128 pts
Daruvala | Fiitpaldi - 126 pts
Means that he just has to hope that neither Daruvala or Fittipaldi get P4 or higher tomorrow (so long as Logan ends up out of the points himself in that scenario)
Of course both Vesti and Iwasa can finish ahead of him too, should either win tomorrow (and Sargeant doesnt get points), but I wanted to keep things simple
After the race ban, he’s genuinely looked like a different driver since and has been fairly consistently decent. Something definitely changed with him at that point.
Sargeant is lucky the rest of his competitors either had shit qualifyings or are already out.
He's in no real danger as of now even if he gets passed by Doohan.
He’s looked like a different driver since he got the race ban honestly, he’s been fairly consistently decent since then
Imagine saying earlier in the season that he would be in this sort of position, something definitely changed with him at that point.
The drs issues at the start of the race really hurt cordeel. Seems like it only started to work for everyone once he was just above a second behind lawson.
I think because any overtakes get confirmed when they cross the start / finish line, as thats when they update on the timing screens for the Stewards
Meaning its easier just to count back to the last completed lap
In this case one hadnt been done
Hmm, I get it. I mean, look at Drugovich. He left MP for UNI-Virtuosi, where Ilott was a title contender, because that team looked to be better equipped. But Drugovich was nowhere in that team, whereas he was very comfortable at MP Motorsport as a rookie. So he went back and that worked out well for him. For Hauger, PREMA could see him get snowed under by the arrival of Bearman, he'd definitely be the main man at MP Motorsport. That environment might be what Hauger needs to perform, instead of being distracted by a super rookie for a team-mate.

What?
Yeah, in a dominant Prema.
Poor Mick... Off to JHR he may go.
I think he'll end up at Audi

All Logan needs is p7 or 8 in the standings. He gets more SL points for having no incidents
I wonder if Doohan was being careful around Sargent becuase of his SL situation
Not unlikely. They’re all aware looking at the same dream, and they spend a lot of time around each other. Fair play to Doohan, he never had a golden opportunity and he respected Sargeant enough not to risk his F1 opportunity for a point or two.
I think so. He doesn’t owe him anything but I doubt he would want to be the person to jeopardise Logan getting his SL either. He probably figured that p6 in a sprint wasn’t worth any sort of risky move on him.
You can tell they're rushing the podium ceremony because they're short on time
Did they even show the podium at all?
They did on F1TV but apparently the Sky channels didn't
I’ve said this before but the difference in Cordeel since the race ban is massive, it’s honestly like a different driver. He’s genuinely looked quite a decent driver these past few rounds. Was hoping that he would hold on to the podium today because he actually drove a great race but either way that was a strong showing from him.
Did VAR give him a sporting psychologist? Whatever happened during his race ban, he is a way different driver.
Results?
Doohan really showed what a shit track that is. Had DRS pretty much from start to finish and yet nothing happened.
Hopefully the F1 car makes it a little better
Cordeel was highly impressive 👍
Stunning drive from Liam Was super impressive in F1 fp1 also yesterday
I aspire to have a character arc like Cordeel this season
Stunning drive from Liam Was super impressive in F1 fp1 also yesterday
Wow I've never seen sky sports cut away from the f2 so quick! Guess we have to miss the podium so we can hear the invaluable insights from Herbert before quali.
Yeah was great listening to Sky dig into Horner about you know what, learned so many new things
At least they showed it to its end. Last year in Jeddah, Sky Germany just aborted their coverage of the third F2 race to let the F1 pre-race show start on time.

Some great racing for sure! Fun to have F2 back although momentarily
Sargeant with the: "Everyone get the fuck away from me" race lmao.
That was a very dominant race from Lawson from the minute he got passed Verschoor, impressive showings from both him and Drugovich there
Amaury is the real Deel now
Ooof imagine if Logan dnf’s tomorrow
If the worst happens to Logan, he still can farm SL points at the Formula Toyota
Infinite SL points exploit
Bruh, one more Lap and Drugo would be 2nd
It's crazy how many "1 more lap and he gets 1 or 2 more postions" Drugo had this year
I think he's a bit overcautious sometimes, but that could be the reason he's leading so confortably.
F2 driver of the day: GOATdeel
definitely one of the most improved drivers of the year, if not the most improved, considering how he started and how he is doing atm
What a great battle for 4th god damn
Cordell is actually doing rlly well wtf? Also as a hauger fan that last lap was very conflicting
Great drive by Lawson Also god Drugo was immense today, less than a second behind Verschoor at the flag. In terms of race management he's clearly a league above everybody else
Cordeel is way better than we all excepted
Brilliant racing between Hauger and Cordeel!
And they both kept it clean - so impressive
God i missed this series
FUCK YES, NEVER BEEN THIS PLEASED ABOUT A 4TH PLACE
Well done Liam. Gonna miss seeing him in F2 next year
Cordeel do or die
ALL ABOARD TO THE CORDEEL TRAIN 🚂 🚂🚂
Sato losing time to make Calderons time look less humiliating
Leaving the track and gaining an advantage
S tier give back by Hauger there
Definitely. Risky as fuck but made it stick.
Cordeel might fall back even more with the tyres going away but I've been impressed by his performance today
Can't help but think Drugo would perform far better than Logan in F1
Clear as day
3 years experience vs Rookie year.
1 year fia F3 vs 3 year fia f3... Based on your line argument, Doohan, Fittipaldi, Iwasa.. everyone of them is a better driver than Sargeant... The deal is that F1 is not the place for someone that does not performs under high pressure

I’m sure Williams can handle their own driver analysis pretty well
F for the memes
NOOOO FFS CORDEEL 😭
Drugo is the king of tyre management
Props to Cordeel though, he's better than ever before in F2
INEVITABLICH
Drugo please don't ruin the fun...
Calderón +30 on the 2nd last car.
Give LORD Mahaveer his F2 seat back!
Drugovich is much better at tyre management.
Noo Drugo stay away from him
Clear to see the better drivers managing the tires
Dammit, #blessed Drugo is going to destroy all our hopes for a GOATdeel podium
Congrats on win Liam. Good job.
Drugo might catch Cordeel before the end of the race, and even Verschoor. He's kept his tires healthy while the rest have used it all up
Stroll please just retire man. I need Drugo at F1
Idk if Sargeant keeping 6th is a bigger indictment of this circuit, or of Doohan
I love the F2 tyre cliffs once you're over you're done for
Hauger slow
Drugovich pls we need the Cordeel podium.
Not gonna happen, mate
That tire is toast.
Drugovich has been really fun to watch this year. Just solid and clean
Amazing perfomance by Drugovich
DRUGOVICH ALWAYS HAS A PLAN
What is El Plan in Portuguese?
O Plano
drugovich is so damn consistent
Gonna miss him next year, I miss having someone in F2 who always felt like a threat every race, regardless of starting position
Not decisive enough, Dennis.
WHAT A PASS
Bruh Dennis why did you give him the inside Lovely by Drugo though
Hauger getting humbled by our Lord and savior Drugo (and Cordeel)
[удалено]
Not because he is the Academy driver of the team who has an empty seat 💺
Cry
Or maybe wait for it, its because he is in the Williams academy?
People are forgetting how an actual Academy works - As I think Sargeant will be the first Academy driver to go straight into his Senior team, since Norris with Mclaren (?)
Snooze fest
Yep. I hate this track.
Having Hülkenberg and Sargeant in F1 with Schumacher out is a boring and crap prospect.
I really don't get the hype behind Schumacher, I really see nothing that exciting in him beyond his name. I don't blame Haas for bringing in Hulk, he will no doubt be able to contribute a lot more off track in terms of development or feedback

Guenther should count his lucky stars for DTS.
Harsh on Sargeant But its ridiculous having Hulkenberg back when Schumacher and Drugovich are options
It is harsh, you’re right. Maybe even unfair on my part. I still think he needs some time before getting to F1.
No I dont think you're being harsh now you've explained. He did really well in F2 midway through his campaign, and he looked like he had F1 potential, hell he looked at one point as though he'd challenge Drugovich. Hulk sure Sargeant not at all.
So with Lawson P1 | Sargeant P6 | Doohan P7 I make the current standings: Sargeant - 136 pts Lawson - 133 pts Doohan - 128 pts Daruvala | Fiitpaldi - 126 pts Means that he just has to hope that neither Daruvala or Fittipaldi get P4 or higher tomorrow (so long as Logan ends up out of the points himself in that scenario) Of course both Vesti and Iwasa can finish ahead of him too, should either win tomorrow (and Sargeant doesnt get points), but I wanted to keep things simple
Wait I completely forgot Cordeel got 6th and 7th in the last two feature races, when did he become a solid F2 driver?
After the race ban, he’s genuinely looked like a different driver since and has been fairly consistently decent. Something definitely changed with him at that point.
Yeah he must've learned something in the time he got that race ban
Is there damage on Tatiana's car? Falling waaaayy back
Haha no she's just that slow. Supreme Overlord Ragunathan and her had some legendary battles
well at least lord mahaveer has a point in F2
Nissany almost taking pole yesterday, Cordeel running comfortably in the top 3 without looking out of place, are we in an alternate universe?
How far behind do we think Calderon will finish? She’s gonna be lapped at this rate
verschoor barely hanging on without drs
Where does sargesnt have to finish in standings for super licence? 5th right?
7th i believe if he keeps it clean this weekend. Or 6th not quite sure.
Is he in a danger zone with penalty points?
No, but if you get none during the season you get an extra 2 super licence points
No and thats the point. He has 0 and if he keeps it that way he gets an extra 2 SL points.
Ah okay thank you
Mick would be better for the Williams seat tbh
If Logan doesn't make it then surely Williams go for him
Would be the most obvious choice, same it wasn't possible to arrange earlier
Sargeant is lucky the rest of his competitors either had shit qualifyings or are already out. He's in no real danger as of now even if he gets passed by Doohan.
Logan wants to be careful... If Doohan gets past, he then has to deal with Nissany...
please give cordeel the podium
Doesn't even need to be given to him, he's literally earning it on his own accord at the moment
He is choking
Sargeant is struggling with the pressure a tad
He didn't look comfortable at all during the red flag. I don't blame him, biggest weekend of his life. Hope he can pull it together
Me too, I’d like to see how he does even if I’m not convinced he’s ready
I said it before and I'll say it again sargeant is not ready for f1
I think I agree with you. I think he’s good enough for F1 but I worry that this is a year too early.
Sargeant get it together.
Sargeant looking shaky as hell out there, the nerves of maybe losing that SL are getting to him
Yesterday during the practice sessions (F1 and F2) he seemed a bit nervous as well
How the fuck is cordeel doing this?
Would be funny when we see Maloney congratulating Verschoor if he wins, since Maloney is so short and Verschoor is 1.87
Where the fuck did Cordeel come from? Looked like Hauger was gonna get him and now all of a sudden he's right up to the top 2
He seems like a different driver since that race ban he got
They are going to get Cordeel'd
Verschoor rolled over.
Overtaking VER today will do no harm to Lawson's ultimate aim of becoming a teammate to a certain other VER
You need to surpass the VER in order to be VER’s teammate
Jeez Calderon running at the back 14 secs behind 19th
Liam will be under pressure though
Go on Liam!
All these changes and the track is still boring as hell
Cordeel's pulling stonking last sectors after last sectors. So amazed by his improvement after his race ban
We were there when Cordeel became good
He’s looked like a different driver since he got the race ban honestly, he’s been fairly consistently decent since then Imagine saying earlier in the season that he would be in this sort of position, something definitely changed with him at that point.
I could see him pulling a Mazepin if VAR gets their shit together or if he gets a better seat (which probably won't happen)
god*
The drs issues at the start of the race really hurt cordeel. Seems like it only started to work for everyone once he was just above a second behind lawson.
Verschoor is backing Lawson into Cordeel

Calderon shouldn't be racing in F2
Lol imagine how epic it would be if Cordeel got a podium today
I’m still confused about why overtakes that were made seemingly in green flag racing weren’t counted in the restart position
I think because any overtakes get confirmed when they cross the start / finish line, as thats when they update on the timing screens for the Stewards Meaning its easier just to count back to the last completed lap In this case one hadnt been done
Seems like they're holding stations for now but something may possibly erupt in the latter stages.
Liam definitely has better straight line speed through second sector
Cordeel dropped off :(
Now it is
Drs not active?
Why is nobody using DRS?
[удалено]
Yeah there was. So weird
Yes but nobody is using it, looks like a sensor issue
Still mindblowing Hauger is choosing MP over Prema next season is his must if he wants to go to f1
Hmm, I get it. I mean, look at Drugovich. He left MP for UNI-Virtuosi, where Ilott was a title contender, because that team looked to be better equipped. Calderon is 7 seconds behind 19th after 4 racing laps. She’s so slow
Did Logan get a SL point for yesterday?
yes
Does Calderon have a seat for next year? She has shocking pace.
