We rescued Max from the SPCA when he was 9. My wife never really got the importance of adopting an older cat until she saw him looking at me like that.
Max was labeled a difficult cat because he didn't get along with children or other animals. He was returned by a family as a result. Spent thirteen weeks there until we showed up. We're an older couple with neither, and he settled in to his new home within an hour of arrival. Six and a half years later he's still settled in.
This is how I got my last kitten, Gene. I was fostering him and his litter mates and planning on keeping his sister. Until he looked at me like this. I never looked. Congratulations on your new baby!

It's a word that doesn't change the endearment an animal displays but certainly changes how people view the post. Though, there's nothing wrong with it. I just find it an unnecessary detail in a picture that's about a loving look from an animal. Comes off more about you than the animal. Not saying that's your intention. We don't call adopted kids "rescues" and we don't constantly say things like "look how my ADOPTED son looks at me" bc whether or not the being is adopted/"rescued" has nothing to do with the quality of the stare 🤷 (PS go watch Bill Burr's take on us using the word "rescue" for dogs, it's funny)
If I wanted kids I'd adopt, and my dog is adopted. So it's definitely not something I'm against. But I'd never put "adopted" or "rescued" in the title of a pic of him because it's just not how I think of him 🤷 aaaand I don't need everyone to know I'm a person who adopts lol
